Issue with CM12.1 signal - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have a m7vzw, using a gsm sim card (Vietnam Vinaphone operator). Recently i decided to switch my rom to CM12.1. It was great, only one issue that my signal is very low ( 1 bar in signal bar). I dont have this issue when i use santod's GPE+ or nusenseven or stock sense roms. I tried to switch the "preferred network" from global to GSM only but it doesnt improve anything. I also delete all APNs and set it manually (exact number like with other roms). I read a post about SKU or something in M7 general forum, but i found out that CM12.1 does not have the /system/customize/acc/default.xml so i dont know what to do
FYI my country doesnt support 4G yet, HSPDA only

Bump. Anyone?

Well I have a T-Mobile M7_UL with CM 12.1 and I can tell you that the signal bars arent very accurate most of the time, so dont freak out

[Q] Failing to recognize that the device is roaming?

I got a device swap today on my Nexus One, so I rooted the replacement phone and restored a nandroid backup of my previous setup with CM6.1 RC1. No problem so far.
Within a few hours of doing this, I noticed my phone still had the FRF91 (4.06) radio. On my previous N1 I'd flashed the 5.12 radio and it was working well, so I flashed it using the appropriate update.zip.
I should point out that I always keep my phone in 3G mode because my provider, WIND Mobile, does not have a 2G network, and any time it's on 2G it is roaming on a partner network at a higher cost to me. I also have data roaming disabled.
After the phone restarted, I noticed within a few minutes that it was connected to the roaming network (WIND Away) and using EDGE data - even though it was set to 3G-only mode *and* no data roaming! I quickly disabled data and flashed back to the 4.06 radio. I didn't see the problem again.
But now upon further testing, I'm still seeing something disturbing. If I flip it to EDGE mode it connects to WIND Away, but the signal indicator doesn't have the roaming "R". Somehow the phone does not recognize that it's roaming anymore. This is incredibly dangerous because it could rack me up huge data charges. Prior to the device swap, any time it was on Wind AWAY I would get the "R". And when I put in my T-Mobile SIM while in Canada, I do get the "R" as well.
Any thoughts on what to do?
I'm having the same problem. I don't think it's related to the radio, but rather 6.1 rc (or in my case nightly ver 245). I'm using radio 5.12.00.8, and when I restore a nandroid backup of cm 6.0, using the same radio the roaming indicator works as it should. Looks like it might not confined to NexusOne http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/9065-is-cm61-rc1-better-than-cm6-stable-for-you/page__view__findpost__p__83991 Hopefully it's not some Wind quirk with cm 6.1

Yikes, glad to hear I'm not the only one. Let me summarize:
- WIND SIM roaming on T-Mobile: Roaming symbol.
- T-Mobile SIM roaming on Rogers 2G: Roaming symbol.
- T-Mobile SIM roaming on WIND 3G: Roaming symbol.
- WIND SIM roaming on Rogers 2G: No roaming symbol, tries to access EDGE data (OUCH! expensive).
This should probably get its own topic at the CyanogenMod forum.
The Testing screen (*#*#4636#*#*) also has an entry for "Roaming", and when I'm on WIND Away it says "Not roaming" - boo.
I created a thread about this on the Cyanogen forum :
forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/10193-cm61-rc1-and-roaming-indicator/
But so far it's mainly me :/
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Just an update, the problem has been resolved for future builds of CM. Read the link to the CM forums for more detail.

[Q] Radio favours 2G...

My phone will not use 4G (HSPA+ or 3G) at my work indoors and favours 2G. My HTC Sensation could be made to use 3G by cycling the radio off/on - but this HTC One is not able to get any 3G plus. I assume this is not a ROM issue as it behaved exactly the same on the original US T-mobile ROM build. Just outside the building (and always at home) I get 4G (not LTE but T-mobile HSPA) speeds (slow here at around 4-6Mbps).
I know that settings can be changed to make the radio favour 3g/4G etc (even if a poor signal) but can anyone help here. I can sit the HTC One right next to the Sensation and the Sensation will show 3G with 1-2 bars and the One will show 4-5 bars with 2G! (and very poor data rates on the HTC One as you'd expect).
I am on a US T-Mobile model on 10.1 ROM with new radio (4A.16.3250.24_10.38.1150.03.zip) - VERY impressed.

Hey Mate,
I was also facing same kind of wiered issue, I am on Developer edition and In India and initially Was not not able to connect to any 2G network. I tried everything from Custom ROM to STOCK ROM, Radio, SIM card change, orperator change etc.... but mothing worked. I was only able to connect to 3G networks.
Today finally I S-OFF'ed my ONE and after that it's connecting to 2G and 3G both networks. I think there is something related with security.
Try to S-OFF !!

Thanks - but I can get 3G and 2G signals now. It is just that the phone seems to significantly favour the stronger 2G (more stable) connection even though a low signal strength 3G connection can be achieved (as shown on my Sensation). I do not want to try S-off just yet as that should really only allow the changing of H-boot and radio firmware etc. I have never read anything that indicates that S-Off can improve a given (un-changed) radio. It is this method I want to try first - I am already on the .24 radio but that made no changes.
I do know that it is possible to access a hidden (HTC Engineer?) radio menu by typing a series of numbers and hash (#) symbols into the phone dialler - that reveals a menu in which (I believe) you can change the priority of network selection.
It could, of course, just be that the HTC sensation radio hardware is better than the HTC One - I hope not.
Regards

[Q] Lost access to H+

I rooted my HTC One I originally always had H+ in my area. I then suddently with AR11.5 only Had H.
I had assumed this was because AR11.5 was based on a none LTE build, version 12 however did not solve this.
Does anyone have a solution as I have tried multiple radios I even had two HTC One's one rooted and one not prior to this and now the none rooted is the only one I have (rooted now of course).
I never see the H+ icon into the One...
And if you have the LTE activated, you will see LTE and not H+

HELP: impossible to receive phone call when 3g is on

hi,
since few days I got the following issue :
when the 3g connection is on, I cannot receive (or I cannot make) any phone call as the device completely loses the operator signal and some times I have to reboot it to restore the gsm signal. I noticed tha this happens only when the status bar displays "3g" icon, when in " H+" it works properly.
I put the sim card in a different device and it works, so it is not a network problem.
the problem is that I got this issue with a custom rom ( lg stock based) and then I flashed cyano 11, but the 3g issue is still there!
Could it be an hardware problem?
Has anybody any Idea how to solve?
thanks
What kernel you use?
I've been using some customROMs and never had this problem.
Try a factory reset, flash again KDZ and try other customROM, like BeanStalk and test another kernel (I prefer iodak 9.95)
The only way to find out if it is a hardware problem is testing.
Best Regards. :fingers-crossed:
There has been a discussion about this already somewhere, I remember @Flying_Bear participated too. For me personally network doesn't work at all (no calls, texts or data) if it's displaying 3G, no matter which roms I use. On H or H+ it's working properly.

I tried everithing: different kernels different custom rom, different original stock firmware...nothing: can we consider it some HW issue?

4G LTE issue not working

I've got a big problem with my 4G connection... I have WIND (IT) as carrier
When I activate 4G mode, the icon appears on the notification bar, but the connection doesn't work.
I have CM11 and I tried different ROMs, also tried to relock bootloader and return to stock FW, but nothing changed
The APN is correct and it works perfectly with 3G connection
I have the same problem. 3G and LTE are not working. The signal in status bar is showing that there is signal but technically there isn't.
I talked to my network carrier, the told me to change my sim card but the problem remains.

Any devices are only capable of connecting to a specific set of bands. Please make sure the place of yours / carrier supports and make use of the bands that XSP supports.
This should be a rare case, since XSP supports a handful of 4G LTE bands. Therefore, this reply of mine is a useless post. Lol
You might want to check your APN to see if it is correct.
Everything with the APN is correct. The problem is with the phone.
Even after flashing sony official stock rom the problem continues...
