I am in UK and using THREE at the moment.
However, i found out the signal in Verizon ROM is very weak (about 2 bars less
so, i have to flash the Chinese XT883 CDMA ROM, i am able to can the signal and
It works perfect
But the new problem came, i cant save my APN.
Even i used MarketEnabler, i can save APN but there is still no 3G network.
So, can anyone help me to work it out please?
Thank you very much !!!
hi, where do you find the xt883 rom ? in english ? do you try to force the phone, in menu mobile network setting to stay in gsm/umts and the same thing in menu *#*#4636#*#* phone information ?
I'm from france and i've the same problem about the 3g signal is very less (1 or 2 bar, before with my milestone 1 i've about 4/5 bar).
Once you flash the rom, its chinese.
But you can change to English.
Here is the link for the rom " 115.com/file/clf4iza2# "
After you flsh it, you need to type *#*#2468#*#*
Then reboot you unlock the gsm\utms.
And i tried to force the network, still no 3G network
facrory reset and see
or
1. download "apn manager" from android market
2. open "apn manager" go to "insert apn"option
3. fill in your network apn information
4. klick the save button below
5. thank god when it works
or
the link for the chinese rom is dead, can you upload it ?
I tried the way you posted...
But sam problem..
the xt862 indication for the 3g signal is just wrong, 2bars means nearly full reception(download any signal strength app, it'll show you ).
You should have had a look at settings->about phone->status, there you can the see your signal strength in db, the values should be the same before/after your flash.
Do you know if the phone behaves better on 3g with chinese rom in case of switching to 2g if the 3g reception is low and power consumption in 3g?

But when i was using Verion ROM, once I lost my signal, it would not find it back.
Have to reboot the phone to search the signal.
And i can send sms sometime even with signal..
Now..everthing works fine in chinese ROM...except the 3G connection problem
Need help
I'm no idea about the issue. My 3g is unanstable, but come every time when lost the signal, switch 2g 3g.....and I download a strengh app that say the same thing about the level signal is very poor.
If you re upload the xt862 chinese rom, I can install it and see if there any issue.....
Try to put in "airplane on" and after 5 seconds "airplane off"

Works for me, and look a lot of better (at least this is the initial sensation), the hot spot works too, but that rom has no google apps, so I have to manage to get them working.
The first attempt was unsuccessful (market FC) but maybe i did something wrong.
Update.
I managed to get the market working (the standard gapps werent working, i took the files from the bell XT860)
The rom is really nice:
Better dialer
Stk
Better sensitivity (i don't know if only visual or effective)
3g and H icons working correctly.
USB tethering works (it doesn't for me with verizon fw)
Most of the bloatware is uninstallable
Profile manager, call filter and other application preinstalled.
BTW looks like CDMA can't be disabled from the wireless menu
The link for download the rom doesn't work :-(

You might be experiences better signal because when you don't have 3G, it reverts back to 2G.
If I disable 3G on my samsung jet i get more bars but no internet

Jokes aside, I use mobile phones as my only internet connection since 1998, in that timeframe i got some expertise about the matter.
Happy to see you can get such nice result..
i tried my friend's sim card last night which it is orange..
suprise me..the 3G network can be connnected automatically...
i think might be the problem of THREE?...
whatever, I found out in my phone system information,
It cant read my phone number...
is there any way to fix it?...

My three italy sim works w/o any problem, but I remember that the N900 had problems with the three sims from UK and sweden, because the odd behavior of the stk, maybe you are facing a similar problem.

im thinking about maybe this is why i cant get access 3G
Yep, another noob with a busted phone. Verizon Droid 3, about 5 months old.
I've just noticed that I have no 3G. Not a 3G problem, I've confirmed with another phone that I'm in a covered area. Normally I'm under one Wi-Fi net or another, so I rarely use it. Noticed it yesterday when I needed it.
Allowed the 2.3.4 upgrade back in May. No problems, just had to reroot the phone. Pretty sure this started after the upgrade, but not 100% sure.
I've tried Googling, saw the *228, tried it, nothing. Found threads about task killers causing issues, uninstalled Advanced Task Killer, nothing. Pulled the battery and rebooted, nothing. Saw some thread on APN settings, but those are not available to me with Netwrok Mode set to Global. I can set it to CDMA, still has APN setting greyed out.
Not finding anything else much to go on, could use some help.
One thing you could try is hitting *#*#4636#*#* then Phone Information and changing the network to EVDO only. That would force it to connect to 3g. Then if that doesn't work try manually forcing a PRL using ##Program. You could always call Verizon.

Are you on any rom? Stock?
If your on stock, I would go to verizon and ask for a replacement or see if they can give you a replacement or fix it.
If your rooted/custom rom I would try re-downloading whatever rom your using and reflash it. And wipe caches.
I've actually had a few issues with the 3G on my own D3. These steps generally work for me.
Navigate to your APN settings. Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks
Press Menu (An option should pop up that says "Reset APN" or "Reset Values")
Press this and wait a few seconds.
Reboot, and you SHOULD be up and running.
If this doesn't work you can edit the greyed out APNs manually (NOT advised) with a trick I can show you. Hope I was able to help!
-End All Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt
I don't think you can even access the apn menu from cdma mode.
Sent from my xt862 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the suggestions so far. Unfortunately, none of them have worked. EndAllFUD, even switching over to GSM so I can get to the AFN settings, there is no reset that I could find.
I've went back and tried unfreezing all the oddball authenticators under the assumption that maybe one of then was IDing me to the 3G network. That hasn't worked either. Unless I come up with another idea, I guess I'm going to have to try Verizon and see if they can/will help.
Well, we have a resolution. After everything up to and including a factory reset, it seems that the 3G radio in my Droid has died. Verizon is sending me another; I'm springing for the overnight shipping.
I had forgotten how much effort had went into customizing this thing. The stock phone is just...painful.
I appreciate all the help that was offered.
Sorry to hear about the 3g radio in your D3, but glad to hear you resolved your issue! Also, I was going to amend my solution. I was basing my answer of memory due to the fact that I am currently running Hashcode's CM9. (It's amazing by the way) The proper instructions were as follows: (Amended instructions are in bold.)
Navigate to your APN settings. Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks
Set network mode to GSM
Change mode back to Global but quickly start tapping the "Access Point Names" menu until it lets you in.
-(You are now in the locked Global Settings Menu)
Press Menu (An option should pop up that says "Reset to default")
Press this and wait a few seconds.
Reboot, and you SHOULD be up and running.

Yeah I just had to throw in a trick I figured out one day when I was screwing around with my phone. My apologies for not remembering to put it in earlier.
Does anyone know how to tweak Droid 3 to make it able to call, message and 3G, but not 1x data?
It isn't possible to make calls or texts using CDMA service locked into EVDO only. If you use Google Voice and a SIP program it would work.

I've had this issue for a few weeks now and I can't think of how it's started. Basically when my phone says it's connected to 3g, I receive no data. I have to switch my data on and off a few times until it connects to H+ to receive data. While on H+ it does one of two things stays connected and may swap back to 3g when nothing is transferring and pop back to H+ when data transfer is requested or pop back to 3g and i get no data again until I switch on and off a few times. As you can imagine this is extremely annoying and hard to maintain steady connection needed by certain apps and such.
I first thought it could be the doing of a certain tower but I have tested this on far off areas and I'm getting the same issue. As you can imagine, there are some areas with only 3g so there is times I can't get data at all. So here is my plea to the greater knowledge of the community: any have any idea why this is happening and/or how this can be remedied? It seems odd that my antenna/radio can only be faulty towards one frequency. Or is there something else at hand here? Thanks in advance.

3G is "normal" 3G,
HSPA is enhanced 3G or "3G.5" and
HSPA+ is even faster HSPA.
Both are UMTS 3G technologies. H+ simply means you are capable of getting faster speeds.
HSPA (3G/H): Theoretical limit of 14Mbps down, 5.76Mbps up
HSPA+ (3.5G/H+): Theoretical limit of 84Mbps down, 22Mbps up, but will support 168Mbps down.

I had the same problem with my previous service provider.
Wht ROM you r on?
Go to settings and then device options.
Check screenshot.
Change the settings to c if you get a solution.
Swyped From My Flavoured JellyCore.
What ROM are you using? if your on stock ICS, then perhaps you can try some options below.
1. See if you have WCDMA only is chosen, under Settings >More>Mobile Networks Settings
2. Try to check your modem firmware? LRK1, LB1 or etc.. you can download and flash another another modem.
3. I'm not sure if this app will work but you can give it a shot. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsInByb3Zpc2lvbi5uZXRzcGVlZC5vcHRpbWl6ZXIiXQ.. It has some tweaks on it.
and Lastly.. Do nothing.. Your carrier might just be experiencing some network outage this time only, and on their end and therefore it should not be treated as a problem on your phone itself. Don't fret. It'll soon be fix (by your carrier itself).

T-Mobile rolled out the 4G LTE in my city and my rooted and unlocked phone automatically connected to it. I can make calls to it, however, there is no internet. Anyone experiencing the same thing? Tried switching all the different mobile networks in the settings.

Just wondering how do you know it was connected to LTE. Did the icon change?
Did you get your data back when it was switched back to HSDPA+?

Same here, I've been googling since this motning. New icon (4G LTE) showed in the corner and internet is gone. Tried fiddling with "LTE Setting"/"LTE Unlimited"/"LTE Discovery" apps from Appstore - no change. Weird... I think lots of people should be having that problem by now...
youll probably have to enter new APN settings. ask someone from the Tmo SGS3 or Note 2 forum for their LTE connected APN settings
Or look in the market for apn tweaker to get the settings.

OK. Confirmed. For the 4G LTE to work you need to have in the APN settings:
fast.t-mobile.com (WITH the dash)
FULL internet is working now, did not notice much of a change of speed in comparison to 4G I had before.
Running on rooted 4.1.1 MB886 (AT&T Atrix HD, unlocked)
Mobile network type LTE:13
Sorry, I had been out all day. I tried all the APN settings they gave me and what the associate over the phone told me about, none worked. One of them said to go to a t-mobile store and ask for a "LTE" sim card. I did and now it's all working.

Hi,
I can confirm pjaca's method works.
Just change APN to "fast.t-mobile.com" nothing else.
I live in San Jose and it is one of the cities to get LTE but not where I live.
I was on a hunt for LTE this afternoon and not all area in San Jose have LTE.
If your phone is getting LTE signal you should see "4G LTE" logo next to your signal bars.

Couple questions -
I just got my Atrix HD and I'm in an area that doesn't have LTE currently. I get awesome HSPA service though. Any advantage/disadvantage of changing my APN?
Also, the APN setting is grayed out, do I need to make a new entry or something?
Thanks!
I have tmobile on my unlocked ahd..I tried three apn settings epc.tombile.com, fast.t-mobile.com and good old apn internet2.voicestream.com....they all show different reading in speedtest.net download speed range 1mb-8mb and upload speed range 768kb-2.1mb....as soon as I switch I get the highest range then it dies off....all apn behave all the same way..then again, I am in NYC and doing it from home avg 3bars but I don't think that mattters...and neither does any of the apn for me they all the same...however out of curiosity I will try again outside when I get full bar
But those of you having trouble in tmobile can try any of the above three apn setting and see which one(if not all) is working for you...technically they all should work
I added the new APN settings and the LTE icon appears in the status bar but I can't connect to the internet
Hello i brought model from Tmobile and i live in Europe. The phone is fully working apart data transmission. I checked the most of bands are equal so should work anyway. I will appreciate any help.
Have you put in APN settings, saved them, and selected them to be used? Also, with Android 8.0 sometimes mobile data is turned off by default. Just check and make sure it is toggled to on position.
---------- Post added at 12:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:43 AM ----------
Also, in your phone dialer dial 277634#*#, in the menu that shows up, scroll down to band selection, select all bands and save. If this helps let us know so others know what to do as well. Thanks.
I am confirming this works! Thanks man.
But it doesnt sticks for long.
