Will the Motorola Nexus 6 get Android 'N'? If so will it be around October 2016 when the new Nexus 6 is released?

Google supports their Nexus phones for 3 years after release. So yes, it will be supported. It likely will be released over the summer if not sooner.

Sweet, I know the up coming nexus 6 will come stock Android 'N'. I'd like to have a sneak peek at the layout of N.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
According to Google's support policy, devices receive two years of support from their release date. The Nexus 6 won't hit two years until November 2016. So yes, the Nexus 6 should get Android 7.0. It should also receive Android 7.0 security updates for some time afterward.
Fortunately, these are Nexus devices. Custom ROM support should keep them going for much longer.
EDIT: @mikeprius beat me to it. LOL.
I made a mistake. It's 2 years for software updates, but 3 years for security updates.
My money's on yes
obvious answer is yes.. nexus 6 is still very capable.. probably until P..
The real question is will Nex6 get the android N dev preview?
@md1008 I'm pretty sure it will!

There's nothing to "rip", just download the preview and extract the radio image with your favorite archive utility like 7-Zip.

I'd rather wait than be disappointed by a buggy / unfinished ROM. I take it Google doesn't pre-release beta software to developers, as Apple does?

They're running out of letters for JWR66...
To be clear, it is a rumored update. I've seen no actual reports just yet. Maybe later today.
Why would T-Mo post it on their support page if it was just a rumor? You even read the article? http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5034
There is a chromium report from an user with the new JWR66Y version in a nexus 10:
https://www.google.es/url?sa=t&rct=...OOBjmrx6AgjprAmE1skg1jw&bvm=bv.50952593,d.d2k
The interesting line is:
OS Version: 0.0.0 Linux 3.4.39-g446c9cf #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jun 10 17:11:40 PDT 2013 armv7l google/mantaray/manta:4.3/JWR66Y/776638:user/release-keys

I don't expect anything more than the bitcoin affair fix because actual nexus 10 kernel version is the same version shown in the above report.

The update is real. But whether it comes today is just a rumor. T-Mobile has been known to post docs well before software updates actually happen.
anyone know what the supposed "security fixes" are in this update?
Hopefully (would be nice, but not getting my hopes up) this small update will straighten out the issues between jwr and jss and give us a single 4.3 source to start fresh from here on out

I'm speculating, but it could be the random number generation issue:

I've been staying on Stock 4.2.2 for now, and have had a constant System Update Available notification to update to 4.3 but have been ignoring it. Just now I noticed the update notification disappeared, so I did a manual check for updates in Settings, and it tells me i'm on the latest version (4.2.2: JDQ39)
Do you think this is related to the new OTA update? I'm thinking they took the previous 4.3 off for now and are going to release the new one, but I could be wrong.

All devices aren't on JWR so it doesn't make sense because you don't want it to. New Nexus 7 is on JSS15J so this will bring them all on the same branch. The update isn't just for us.
I'm not claiming to know. But my assumption is that because the issue was marked resolved. So im only guessing. I'm not JBQ lulz

How about every Android news site. A build for the Nexus 10 "Y build" is in the chromium tracker today. Check Android Headlines, Android Police, Android Central. Google Plus. Do you guys only read on XDA? lol

Can we not just share our experiences in one of the many other threads? Most of us have been running it for months anyway!
All I found was Dev Preview threads. Instead of digging through 100s of pages; thought we can discuss the clean build once we start getting it. Would be great to see when it actually starts rolling out and what difference / updates there are compared to the DP.

Hi there.
The source in the Android Geeks story is the message Google sent to developers recently saying Android 5 will be released to consumers on Nov 3. What that means in reality is anyone's guess.
I'm in London UK with a Nexus 5 waiting for the OTA update too. Hoping it's today but certainly not holding my breath.
When anyone gets it please post here to keep us updated!

As I read in some news, YES.. because the final OTA ROM for 3g/4g devices need to be certificated.. so more time is required..
But I hope that the ZIP file will be released anyway...

Google doesn't bump kernel versions, the 2012 N7 is still on 3.1 and the Galaxy Nexus stayed on 3.0
NO THERE WILL BE NOT ANDROID LOLLIPOP TODAY !!! Google said that 3 of November we will get Lollipop for wifi devices and for gsm update will come later. SO STOP ASKING AND SPECULATING -.- It will be when it will be.
Hate to be that guy asking devs for anything but pretty pretty please can we haz a straight Pixel ROM for our Nexus 6.

I don't think you're going to see one. The closest you'll get is to port the Pixel's 32-bit apps over to the Nexus 6, since none of the Pixel's 64-bit firmware will work on our device.
Oh man, I'd love to see that too! Sadly, I don't think it's possible. Could be wrong, development never ceases to amaze me

To make a 32bit app of a closed source 64bit app? No love is enough to achieve that.
So if you want Pixel on you Nexus, you'll have to buy a 64bit phone, either the 5X or the 6P.
Oh well I never keep devices long anyways. Just wishful thinking/pissing in the wind

And they can do that because they have a 64-bit processor in the 5X. We don't. We should however be seeing a developer preview of Android 7.1.1 drop soon for us, with the finished product to follow.
Wow Having a nexus and asking for a ported rom is like having a Mustang but wanting to put a pinto engine in it.
