and Odin stuck at " SetupConnection.."
Probably of these reasons...
1. Check whether u removed sim card and external mem card.
2. switch off and restart the phone in recovery mode
3. Restart PC.
4. Try other USB Slot
Allready done + another PC. Phone does not power on normally and does not goes in to the download mode but only in recovery mode , maybe thats why Odin stuck.
Even with adb phone dows not goes to the download mode.
Yeap, that was problem. Finaly i put the phone in download mode using/making micro USB cable for download mode.
Solved..!!
what if my phone cant b recognized in downloader mode and ive already put in the new drivers?
You have to force in download mode like the way i done.
Thnx for fast reply!...I've reboot my phone n comp, pressed 1 n power to force download mode, n get stuck on setupconnection screen...I keep rebooting and changed mulitple usb port...keep gettin stuck at setupconnection...gettin fustrated with this odin thangamabob
Hi, this morning my SGS seemed to have crashed during the night (black screen). Now I cannot boot anymore:
- Turn power on
- Splash screen
- After a minute or so it vibrates once, then later three times (as with some program crashing)
- Screen goes black
- It then stays in some loop of vibrating once and then three times forever
What I have tried:
- Factory reset (volume up+home+power)
- Clear cache and al data
- Remove battery for hours
- Charged battery to 100% and tried factory resets
- Reflash via Odin (Phone is not recognized by Odin)
- Emergency install via Kies (phone is not recognized by Kies)
I have standard ROM (I think JPY), it is rooted.
Anyone an idea?
Thanks!
this is exactly what happened to my phone yesterday... would appeciate any ideas as well

Yes, I tried to connect to Odin (after switching the phone to download mode with Volume down+home+power, but Odin does not see my SGS.
What is cwm?
Thanks!
For odin: check if you have drivers on pc for your sgs
CWM is clockworkmod recovery. It is a custom recovery that you use to flash unsigned zip files. You can install it via update from regular recovery, app called rom manager and like kernel via odin

Mine did the same thing today but I could not get into recovery. Went into download mode and flashed supercurio's jvk+hacks kernel and now I can boot again. I thought it was a bug with 2.3.3
Guess not. Last thing I did was reboot with quick boot.

Problem SOLVED!!
Themate1987's triggered me to do some more searching on this forum (' cause I did not know what cwm was) and I found two interesting things:
- SGS is extremely hard to brick (so I decided not to give up yet)
- Some post about a faulty USB cable.
So I exchanged my official Samsung USB-cable for and old Logitech mouse USB cable I found and suddenly my PC saw the phone. Of course I had to install the correct drivers (used my girlfriend's SGS and Kies for that), but after a lot of connects and disconnects I was able to connect the phone to Odin.
Although I prefer standard ROMs I installed a new kernel and Darky's ROM and now I am fine. I might even keep Darky's ROM, because indeed it seems to be extremely fast and has some nice features.
Once again: thanks everyone!
If you want to make it even more fast enable lagfix in recovery

My Voodoo Control Application (came with Darky's ROM) already says"Status: Ext4 lagfix active"..
I guess all was done automatically.
Yes but turn off lagfix before you flash non-darkys rom

My phone is doing the same thing however mine quickly goes to the "ursa minor" screen before doing the one vibe then 3 short vibes. It does this 13 times, then vibes once and restarts. I have tried booting into recovery mode and download mode, and nothing is working. when I pull the batt, plugin the USB cable, hold down the vol - and + and power, then put the batt in, it just stays on the charging screen. I've hunted the threads for 4 hours trying to find a solution, and I don't know what do to. Do I need to make a jig to fix it now?
Pull usb out then pull battery, then replace and try and enter download mode (vol down/power/home)

Hi XDA experts,
I need help on how to recover from a boot loop for samsung gt-s5830i, I have the following scenarios;
1. The phone is not rooted ever since.
2. The 3 combo buttons to download mode are not working (power+volume DOWN+home). Basically I can press them but not working.
3. I can only access the android system recovery (3e) and I only have 4 choices (power+volume UP+home).
It's my friends phone, so I don't know the firmware version or baseband so to speak, what I know is it's made in China.
TIA,
chuckTaylor

Dear All Respectful Professional,
I didn't flash any custom/stock ROMS before this. The phone started to stuck at boot loop during my last restart. During that time, I realise my phone got a bit of lagging/unresponsive touching so I decided to hold the power button for a while and chose restart. This is where my phone started to keep on rebooting to SAMSUNG Logo at first, after several times of reboot It keeps constantly reboot before SAMSUNG Logo appears.
I try to do a soft reset which is power button + volume down, where I thought this might help but end up nothing as well. So I am trying to boot into recovery menu which is power button + Bixby button + volume up, but nothing happened. So far there are only two types of a button which remain functions which are (Soft Reset & Download Mode) the rest no matter what am I trying to press it just won't do anything.
The phone will boot and stuck in a boot loop for like 1 minute above than the recovery menu will appear itself, but the problem is the recovery menu only last for few seconds before I try to press wipe cache, etc in the menu and reboot to boot loop logo ( SAMSUNG Galaxy Note 8).
From there I try to search through the internet where I found some guide regarding flashing stock ROM could help to revive my device. I flashed the device through Odin and by that time the status in Odin is PASS, but the phone reboot again during the loading status load till 32%. Than overall it's the same again, every time it reboots it will stay on boot loop for like 1 minute above and a blue screen with status bar load till 25% says error and goes in recovery menu for few seconds, it reboots again itself. I try to provide details below, appreciate if anyone can try to help up.

Hi, i just got in to same issue. Have you found any workaround or fix for this ?
Any guidance will be helpful
Hey, I got the same problem here out of nowhere...
Hello.
Strangely, I have the same problem after applying the latest firmware update OTA.
I had the odd 32% stuck, then erasing. Now I can only go into download or recovery mode. I tried everything (factory reset, wipe cache), something like 10 firmware flash (3 versions, downloaded 3 times).
Sometimes I can boot to the installation process, then my Note randomly freeze.
I guess the Note is "dead". As FRP is on, I can't try a custom ROM, juste in case.
But I can't get it out of my head that it's due to the update. I don't believe in coincidences.
