Hi,
I am trying to understand how to root my Kindle Fire 5th generation. However, I don't understand the purpose of downloading and installing the Apple64.zip file on my Mac. Can someone please explain what this file does, what's in the zip file, and what I need to run in the "stuff" directory. I'm scared of messing up my MacBook Air by running something I don't understand.
Please help
Thanks

Hi all! I am trying to modify the autocorrect file, though I am running into some issues.
1. I cannot modify the file using Total Commander to uncheck read only
2. I believe because of #1, I am unable to copy the autocorrect file back to the Windows directory, as I am receiving an access denied error.
Has anyone had a successful experience with this? If so, please help me!
Thank you so much.
(I copied this from another forum because I accidentally posted in the wrong forum, please mods..don't kill me. )

thanks?........
I guess I should explain a bit more this is from running imgfstodump. I will watch it seemingly expland files to sizes there is no way its what it should be, however I do get all the files.
This is being done in Windows 7.
Am I missing a step? I get no errors and the files are all there just super large, but they do work....

I've been trying to copy directly an MKV file from windows 7 to the downloads directory on the kindle fire hd.
The file is 5.8 gigs and I have plenty of room on the device..however towards the very end it gives me a message
saying it cant copy do i want to skip it. Is this because the device isnt rooted. I have sideloaded an android app
onto the device that can play MKV files directly and I didnt want to have to convert the MKV file which will take
2 hours...not sure i want to root it either..as many are reporting problems with it right now....
Rooting went great, I did the step by step method. The problems come in because others are changing or deleting files they are not completely sure what all is running with the file. If you root you won't be disappointed. I like my rooted kindle fire hd, it's like the best of both worlds now.

Chances are it's because the file system is fat32 which can't support files that big.... your Windows file system is probably ntfs...
I think the biggest file you can have in fat32 is 4.3gb or so
FYI, there are no fat32 partitions on the KFHD (probably not the KF2 either). Post #2 below...

I stand corrected. I didn't own the device, was just speculating.
Perhaps it's going to sleep before the file finishes copying and it's causing an error?
No actually just tried it twice and both times it failed...I was asking because maybe the kindle fire hd unrooted will not allow this file extension to be copied to it...was my thought....but some are saying it is a size constraint. Just not sure

You can download the update from Amazon, extract it and pull "wpa_supplicant" from the bin folder.

I have the same problem. I did exactly what you did and it turned out my device was unable to turn on and Wifi Mac address unavailable.
The original wpa_supplicant files didn't help.
I've tried to run "idme \?" command via Terminal emulator and ABD however somehow it was locked and can't be opened.
I don't know how to run "idme" to change the Mac address.

File needed is:
