Recently, I flashed my SGS I9000 with DarkyROM v11.0 Black Edition and all went smoothly. I did this while I was in Pakistan for the holidays. When I came back to the UK, I found that my phone wasn't getting any service, not from my old sim or my new sim. My new sim had been activated on the day I got back and it just showed the crossed-out triangle. My old sim was supposed to be working but it wasn't working on the phone for some reason. After a fair amount of hours spent on researching on the problem, I figured that my efs was corrupted. A symptom of this was that my imei had changed and I'm not sure how to get it back.
Samsung Services decided to shut the door in my face and I haven't any solutions as of yet.
What's your take on this? Do you have any solutions to this problem?
All help is greatly appreciated, thank you.
Any one have any solutions to this problem?
Why you did not backup of efs folder before flashing? ...sometimes flashing official gingerbread rom helps in getting imei back, so try that :/
This should help (replace Froyo by a Gingerbread release)

Did it today with my dad's Galaxy S that lost service after installing CM9.

I tried both of your ideas but it just wouldn't restore my imei for some reason. How many times did you flash yours?
I flashed different custom roms I think 4 and kept replacing them with stock rom

Okay, I've hit a new low. You can blame my stupidity for this.
I was looking at xsenman's suggestions and I asked about one of his methods, he told me to use the M110S Repair kit which I downloaded. I opened it up and it shows a bunch files that I had to flash to my phone. While flashing my phone and eventually bricking it, I realised that the M110S is the Korean version and I just tried to flash that firmware onto mine, resulting in a brick. Basically, I hold the power button and it shows the Samsung Anycall logo and that's about the extent of the boot and my capabilities. I cannot go into download mode or recovery mode (via 3 buttons) it just tries to boot up the phone.
I have realized my complete idiocy at this point but I could use anything just to get my phone back up so that I can atleast continue trying to sort out the IMEI.

Ok, this is rather strange and sad to hear , as you made a post in the Korean M110S Forum, my suggestions were for you to use the Korean repair kit at Today, 06:13 AM in response to a post made at Today, 03:07 AM.
But by Today, 07:39 AM, you responded I am referring to the wrong model and by Today, 07:46 AM, I advised you to use the i9000 froyo ROM instead .
So it sad to hear you still used the M110S repair kit knowingly , even after I advised you not to use it, at 07:46 AM today?
Anyway, what you should do is first power down, remove battery, remove SIM Card and Ext SD card, , press power button for a few min, than reinsert battery only and try for download mode or use Methods mention on MY Android Solutions, link below to achieve download mode .
Forget about recovery mode, get download mode and use PIT and full i9000 ROM package, use JVZ or JVU with boot loaders
I, Personally had tested i9000 ROMS on the M110S and spend a few hours flashing M110S repair kit over and over again to recover, so as long as your phone can get into download mode or with a help of a JIG, its not bricked.

At 7:39am, I had already flashed. At 7:30, I discovered that it was a different model. I spent some time trying to fix it before I sent that message.
Also, I'm going to try that jig method, see if it works.

download combo keys may change when OTHER firmware are used on a phone, so you should try different combinations for download mode . For M110S , download mode is home key +power key...give it a try or
1) To enter download mode [volumedown+home+power] or home +power
2) While in this position, insert the battery
I once lost mine, and to get it back, I flashed back the last known good configuration.
Unfortunately sometimes these things happen.
Right, the phone is back onto Gingerbread 2.3.6 after a cheap jig that I ordered forced it into download mode. I then flashed froyo then gingerbread and now I'm back to where I started, no service and a missing imei.
I've had a development!
Okay, so after playing around with the phone, rooting and stuff. I managed to get my 3g working somehow but still no imei, texting or calling. Really strange how I can use internet but not be able to text or call anyone

if you get back on stock rom, wipe everything - samsung won't know
So my question remains
I would try figuring it out via google searches etc - but if you can't you could always send it into samsung.
Hi everybody
I'm really not lazy men, I check almost all posts here on the best forum in the world xda. I face this problem before 2 days, I unlock my phone with Galaxy_Ace_Unlock and root it, everything was worked perfect and suddenly it lose mobile signal. I check phone locking and it was locked again.
It wasn't main problem , then I read on this forum that this aplication is not safe and I uninstall it, after that I rebote my phone and got strange problem. I can't boot my phone I only get samsung boot screen 1 sec and it keeps restarting every sec. When I charge my phone via charger I don't see anything just screen is blanking.
More one thing, when I deleted app galaxy ace unlock I deleted from sd card root file that I use to root my phone.
I need help I try flashing it with odin 4.38 and no success, I can enter download mode, everything pass perfect and I got message PASS but phone can't boot, when it's finishing with odin on last step phone restart it self and keep blanking. This is very anoying problem, please help me if you can.
I use swisscom galaxy mini s5570 and I don't know how to solve this.
I try many different stock rooms but no success, always when I finish with odin it's successfull but I can't boot, I can't access recovery mode because phone is blinking all the time.
I know that this forum is most powerfull and tha we have the best experts, better than android developers that have, and I'm sure that you can help me in some way.
More once, I can enter download mode and flash with odin but I can' boot.
Sorry for my bad english I'm from Bosnia and my first language is Bosnian
Thanks, Reuf
If you can enter download mode, ODIN will most probably work. I think you have gone wrong while working with ODIN. Follow these instructions carefully and double check whether the correct files are selected for each category.
If you still have the problem try flashing a custom recovery and a custom ROM.
Or, the other most probable thing is some hardware error, the only thing to do then is to go to a Samsung center, and act dumb (like you do not know anything about rooting) and if you warranty is not void, they might get it right for you..

But even in Swiss they have warranty agreements and receipts so if it is new you should have such purchasing receipts - otherwise your friend pulled you over the barrel.
Anyway, maybe you tried a ROM w/o boot-image to prevent from bootloops.
Maybe you should try the 2.3.5 version coming from samsung:

Hello people of XDA, i got this problem:

So, i did unlock bootloader and flash JB (it was ICS stock) but IMEI keeps uknown
Can someone help me with this? my phone just got useless without IMEI...
I hope someone can help me with this problem
Some help pls
this isn't a software problem, you may ask to the service center how repair your phone, maybe he repair with a special box...
superuser dont work, custom rom dont work, custom kernel dont work....
or he may changed the phone motherboard and you are scammed
Sorry
Hello everyone. I have a problem with my phone. I bought a second-hand phone with this in mind that I can somehow go back to life, but it turns out it is not that easy. I will describe what I did to be easier to help me.
When I got it there was on 4.1.2 software but there was a problem with constant restarts/resets (like constant loop) and the phone showed NO SEVICE and IMEI showing null / null
I read on the forum downgrade to firmware 4.1.1 can help. So I did, and I changed the kernel first to Persus with that in mind, something that would help me and after that to Siyah-v1.9.1-s3. After tht phone no longer starts. Shows only what is in the pictures. I hope you will help me and step by step guide me what i did wrong.
Because I'm new on the forum cant paste outside links so - when I turn on the phone, there is a red exclamation on tol left corner and Samsung Galaxy s3 i9305 inscription on the screen.
Second picture shows the (probably) logo of kernel? this is new for me so dont know what is this. And from this moment phone not responding. Simply stuck on this screen.
Any help?
Thank you and sorry for my english, hope you understand most of that.
OK. I have just installed stock kernel and phon switchen on. But have still problem with IMEI. When tap *#06# imei shows null/null. I am running 4.1.1 android versions.
I've searched forum but cant find right solution.
Thanks in advance

Restore your backed up IMEI as per the post in development .
No backup take it to a service centre for a repair .

Hy people,
i know that this theme was discussed lot of times, i read hundreds of posts and i didn't find solution for my problem...
So problem is, my galaxy S3 starts and blocks on galaxy s3 screen, flashing with ODIN fails, reset doesn't work, probably emmc chip is dead.
I was thinking about one solution...i purchased USB jig, it starts my galaxy to download mode but doesn't reset counter, after reading lot of posts i found that on new bootloader isn't possible to reset counter...ODIN doesn't work so i can't flash old ICS version bootloader XXALEF - but maybe is possible to put old bootloader XXALEF on sd card, turn on the phone on sdcard mode and do the counter reset with usb jig
just want to ask if anybody here did something similar or there is no way to reset counter on hard bricked, emmc dead galaxy s3
Jig is not for reset its for download mode only .
To reset to warranty state you need to run Triangle Away from the phone and flash a stock rom .Not going to happen if you have a hard brick you cannot boot from .
...than i can't get anything from my warranty, so plan b
purchase of emmc chip - toshiba 32 gb - i found it on ebay (can't post link - new user restrictions on forum), what you think would be ok?
after replacing emmc, restoring back my lost imei (found some instructions on forum and on google) - does really work to restore lost imei, because i didn't made any backups?
If you have a dead EMMC (due to SDS), Samsung will repair or replace your phone under warranty despite the counter, as one of the symptoms of SDS is the counter showing Modified on never-rooted phones (due to being unable to read the actual counter data from the dead EMMC). As long as the product name is empty (a tell-tale sign of SDS), you should have no issues.

I too have this problem.
My wife picked up a 14 month old S3 LTE 3 weeks again and has having a emmc problem, whats samsung's warranty on this problem.
Hope its ok to ask here, didn't want to waste a whole new thread on the same issue.
SDS is covered by Samsung s warranty .
But that warranty may not include a second user and root or custom rom or damage may void warranty . You need to ask your local Samsung service .
