Stock ROM, Recovery, LOCKED bootloader, remove any TAMPERED messages, S-OFF\S-ON doesn't really matter if you can get rid of the red text on bootup
Locked isn't neccessary but it's desirable as some countries will refuse warranty if unlocked so if you can get back to locked then I'd say do it
flashing the stock rom etc

Thanks for your offer, I've been throught that already, it's no fun fighting against this phone. I used Crushalot's "Guru reset" shown on the "Easy Stock Reset | Many Versions | Stock ROM + Recovery + Radio Included" thread so now I'm back with a 4.2.2 Vodafone ROM
The reason I need to send the phone back to HTC is that the microphone doesn't work anymore. One thing I have proved in all this messing about is that the software is not responsible for the microphone being shot!

My phone is due back from HTC today. As far as i am aware HTC did not check the software, and I have ben informed that HTC did not change the software. HTC replaced the microphone and cable the backplate and one of the speakers. I think the person that took the phone apart used a nutcracker :cyclops:

I don't know. HTC have sent back my phone with new parts. My guess is that once you prise the back off you need to change it. The HTC One is a major step backwards from the HTC sensation as far as maintenance.
Same

Yes, I had the same issue.
In TWRP, wipe all the partitions except the internal storage. Then flash the rom and choose wipe in Aroma.
Im sure you wouldn't have manually wiped the partitions. The Aroma for some reason doesn't do the job. Manually wipe it and the ROM will install properly

I'm wondering the same thing -- I'm stuck. I'm not even S-Off so I can't use this guide, which you may be able to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
Hi I will try tomorrow this and post results
Thanks
I've got the exact same problem - guessing it's hardware related.
Except mine reboots after 30-60 seconds.
This is the second time its happened - sending back again to get repaired.
Now going on the mission of reverting to stock (again) Lucky i'm SOFF
Hi, i was try this return to stock tampered and relock from bootloader gone but all time phone rebooting (loop)
Put back to cid o2 uk try use ruu exe but all time give me error 158
I will send back the phone but i must flash o2 uk ruu first, second somebody try open the phone without success, scratches, dents around the edge
Regards
I'm having this same problem. I've wiped it several times and reloaded 2 different RUU's and Android Revolution. With Android Revolution I've stopped it from randomly restarting but I still get the process error and it doesn't show a Baseband or IMEI. When I used the getvar in cmd it shows my IMEI and everything looks good.. not sure if its a hardware problem or what. Any ideas and if I have to send it back can anyone direct me to a US T-Mobile stock RUU? I'm still new to this... just switched over from a Galaxy.

Just to let you know that I already try the previously proposed solutions to solve this problem.
I am from Argentina, and today I bought a HTC One M7 UL unbranded from AT&T, and I have this problem with the phone. It doesn't recognize my MicroSIM from the brand Movistar (Telefonica), I try every one of the solutions in the forum and no one solved the problem.
I want to ask you, if the phone is unable to recognize the SIM because a hardware problem or there is a software configuration of... i don't know... the radio, the firmware, the rom, or anything that can solve this issue.
The phone is Unlocked and Rooted, I alredy try the Android Revolution HD 71.1 ROM and now I flash the AT&T stock ROM.
This are the info of my phone...
Android Version 4.4.2
HTC Sense 5.5
Software Number 4.18.502.7
Baseband Version 4T.24.3218.09 _ 10.26.1718.01L
CID 11111111
HBOOT 1.56.0000
RADIO 4T.24.2318.09
If you need any other info about the phone, tell me.
Thanks you very much for your help and patience.
Sorry for my english.

Follow the steps in this post.
Have you cleaned the gold contacts with rubbing alcohol? Is the sim unlocked? If not, then try this method. Or you can get an unlock code from AT&T but it might be a little difficult since you are in Argentina.

Supposedly is unlocked. I tried with the method of sieempi, but when I press the simlock it says "SD init fail" and after reboot the phone still not recognizing the SIM card.

Hi there.
I had an Htc one(M7) which was dead and i send it back under warranty and it was told to me that motherboard was dead and they give me back under warranty another Htc one,but there's a problem, there's no 'Software update' under settings/about and this phone is running 4.2.2 and sense 5 and i have no idea how to update it without unlocking/rooting as there's no option to do it OTA.
Can anyone suggest me something?.I'm really desperate.
Thanks a lot

Yup, send it back again and ask them whats going on, its still under waranty, so make it there problem not yours, because as soon as you unlock it, your waranty is gone.

Thnx for your answer.
I haven't tried to upgrade firmware using Htc sync manager and i dont know if it's going to work tbh,but i think that they send me an unlocked device and not really an 'new one'.I have never seen something like that before on other smartphones running pure stock, only with custom roms.
The first Htc one that i bought there was running 4.4.2 out of the box,but this one with 4.2.2 with no chance to update forward Kitkat:nuts:.

Ive never seen it either except on custom rom's, did you send it to a HTC service centre or your network provider ? I would expect HTC to update your software for you, the software you have on there is very old now, post your fastboot getvar all without imei and serial number please, then we can see if its s-off, if it is then you can update to any RUU you like without unlocking.

ahh, the shop is a different story, probably jusy old stock, but doesnt explain the missing software update setting, that is very strange, when they gave you the replacement phone, was the box factory sealed still, I would check its not running something custom, that someone previous has messed with a returned to them, they may of had it fixed in-house and just stuck it back on the shelf.
I messed up this phone big time, and I accept all responsibility. However, I would just want to know if it can be salvaged in any way at all possible.
Here is what happened:
I bought the phone on ebay. It was rebooting just after booting up. I read somewhere it had to do with the radio. I flashed the radios for the version yet no improvement. When Lollipop RUU came out I used it to update and it stopped rebooting, but no radio. I flashed it to a CDMA network here, as I usually do, yet no service. I paid for Sunshine and unlocked bootloader. I installed CWM and flashed CM11. No radio as well. I now went into adventure mode: What if I changed CID and install a Verizon RUU, maybe it could help. I changed CID to 11111111 and tried flashing a Verizon M7 RUU. It failed and asked for Model ID compatibilty. I went further and changed Model ID to Verizon (PN0731000) from Sprint Model ID (PN0720000) and there the problem started. The RUU failed again and the phone got stuck in this mode (see attached pictures). Fastboot still works but I think there's a mixup in the CID/MID so it can't take any RUU.
Is this phone recoverable? If yes, how? I will be very happy to try anything, even if it means spending extra to get it done. I would want to fix this and learn from the process.
Thanks in advance.

Problem solved. I had to try so many things, but the good thing is that this phone (once you're S-OFF and can get into fastboot) is virtually unbrickable. At last everything works now, even the GSM unlock. I will try and outline the steps I went through in case someone someday needs it.
Of course no way to install Verizon ruu some hardware differences have been found
