Flashfire for moto x - Moto X Q&A

Hello all! I was wondering if I was able to flash any stock based custom rom on this device using flashfire, I've done it on my Kindle which had a locked bootloader and installed cm12.1 and resurrection so I was wondering if I could do the same on my stock lollipop rom and get some results, cheers and everyone have a great day

Anyone? I'm on the same boat. Flashfire would allow us to flash another ROM with having root as the only requirement

[Q] Flashing from custom rom to stock 5.1

Hi, I've been canvassing a few threads trying to work out exactly what's needed to take my xt1058 to 5.1. I'm currently on Cyanhacker 5.0.2 nightly rom built on Mar-3, with TWRP recovery. To get here I had to do the CM11 -> CM12 based rom boot trick if it's important.
If I want to go to the official 5.1 ROM, is this the best path, or will I brick the device somehow? http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/how-to-install-5-1-lollipop-moto-x-t3089594
I'm fairly certain trying to go from 5.0.2 back to 4.4.4 will end badly, so this seems safer?
I've also spotted this, but not sure if this is better than the above option? http://translate.google.com.au/tran...ipop-51-stock-moto-x-2013-xt1058/&prev=search
Could someone please let me know which is the best path?
If you are talking about flashing to a custom or 3rd party rom based on 5.1, follow the ROM makers recommendation.
That being said... If you want a STOCK 5.1 rom.... then...
Because you are on a custom or 3rd party rom now, you need to check your bootloader version.. Boot to the Fastboot AP screen (aka bootloader screen) and the 2nd line will have the version.
If you have either 30.BC or 30.BD, your best bet is to sit tight and wait for a Stock Moto SBF of 5.1 to leak for your device/carrier, then flash that.
If you have 30.B7 or lower, find the appropriate Stock SBF for your carrier/model device, and flash it using either mFastboot or RSDLite.
Thanks for clarifying! I was looking to go from custom rom back to stock 5.1 (missing all the Moto features). My bootloader is 30.B4, so it should be okay to flash a carrier FXZ for XT1058 as per the Brazil moto forum link I posted?
I assume this will blast my custom recovery as well, so I'd have to re-apply TWRP and root?
EDIT: Actually this version seems to have TWRP? http://translate.googleusercontent....-root/&usg=ALkJrhgUAWS_u0rYHHVrsBRy4w5DG4VdvA

Installing Custom Lollipop ROMs

Greetings all,
I'm finally fed up and thinking of installing a custom ROM for my Moto X. My question is that will I be able to flash stock 4.4.4 after installing NX or CM12 Lollipop ROMs or be able to accept the OTA in the future? Will downgrading brick my device?
Sent from my Moto X using XDA Free mobile app
The downgrade is a risk, but with some patience it is done easily. First of all you need to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery and flash the CM11 first, because you're on stock then you flash the CM12. Now about the downgrade, you can flash the original recovery again, lock the bootloader and install the official package directly by the sotck recovery or by fastboot using the RSD Lite, if you do this remember to install all fastboot, adb and motorola drivers.
I hope it is a help for you.
Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll stick with 4.4.4 for now since it is quite stable and it's not easy to downgrade. I have an unlocked bootloader btw.

To Install a Custom Rom Safely, Plzz Help ... :D

Hi,
I own a Motorola Moto g2 (2014) Indian Version, 16 gb and i am running a stock firmware 5.0.2, rooted and bootloader unlocked. and i want to install a Custom ROM, So i went on to Youtube and find out how to unlock the bootloader and install Super SU.
After that i came to know about this site, and thought of flashing CM 13, and so in order to do that it was required to update bootloader, since it won't work on bootloader 4.4
So, i followed the instructions clearly and updated the bootloader and the TWRP Recovery , Both are successfull.
Now comes the problem part for me:
So when i browsed the xda developers site in the moto g 2014 thread , i came across this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/6-0official-indian-ota-zip-captured-t3299550
It said
So to everyone here. After updating to 6.0 I don't think it's a good idea to downgrade to 5.0.2 and update it with stagefright update over the air.
I made it and it hardbricked my phone.
5.0.2 bootloader version is 48.83
6.0 bootloader version is 48.86
So, don't downgrade your bootloader, it can cause hardbrick!
so, i got afraid, since i am going to install cm 13 nightly which is unstable and the bootloader already updated, will i be having problems when i restore it back to stock 5.0.2
and would it be safe if i installed cm 12.1 after updating the booloader or will it hard brick my phone. (since cm 12.1 is stable version compared to cm 13)
P.S Can someone post a link on how to backup before installing the Custom ROM, since i always see this step:
that is to make a backup using TWRP and then use advanced wipe to wipe the device, the only question is won't the adavanced wipe deletes the backup folder ?
And Is there any stable ROMS for moto g that runs marshmallow, + is it possible to install multi ROM twrp and Install CM 13 Along with the Stock Android

Installing a 6.0 Rom

I haven't been able to find clear instructions on what I need to install a 6.0 rom. I'm still on a Chroma 5.1.1 Rom from way back in June... just haven't been able to keep up with Android as much as I once was and I'd like to finally get a taste of M. I'd appreciate any help in regards to whatever prerequisites I need before installing a M rom.
edit: I have the latest TWRP installed. I have downloaded the latest version of Pure Nexus 6.0 as well as the GAPPS. Do I need any bootloaders or radios to flash for M?

Since Droid Turbo XT1254 doesn't yet have stock Marshmallow from Verizon, I assume you are on a custom Marshmallow ROM or @iiWoodstocK Marshmallow Brazil ROM, based on the XT1225 stock Marshmallow ROM.
You flashed it with TWRP, which means your bootloader is unlocked.
You are still using Verizon's Lollipop radio and I assume you are still using Lollipop bootloader.
Just flash the Lollipop ROM of your choice.
If you want to go back to stock Lollipop, CF's ROM is very close or you can even flash stock image via adb or rsdlite.
IF for some reason you did flash the Marshmallow bootloader, then exclude GPT.bin from any flash commands. You can't downgrade bootloaders.
I flashed "aokp_quark_mm_unofficial_2016-10-02_0936"
I put this rom by TRWP from lollipop 5.1 verizon. I do not know if the bootloader was updated, I do not think.
Then I can go back to 5.1 verizon stock by Rsd
or fastboot?
Thank you for answers and sorry for the bad English ^^

Yes. You flashed AOKP ROM. You can go back to stock completely, but you would get stock recovery, not TWRP (until you reflashed TWRP).
You can also flash CF ROM (computerfreek274) which is tweaked stock-based Droid Turbo Lollipop. You wouldn't even lose TWRP.

Thank you very much for supporting me.
Everything went well and now I have this rom.
TWRP reinstalled, busybox and Xposed and everything went well.
However, I have not been able to run the notification light.
And being in stock, if you turn on the LED.

On stock or stock-based ROM like CF, the light only comes on if you have a very low battery. It's not a message/email notification light on stock.
On the Quark, the "notification" light only works on a few CM-based custom ROMs. @bhb27 experimented and enabled it in Resurrection Remix and Bliss and AOKP maintainer uses his coding.
If you want that, and also Lollipop, then you would have to go to the Lollipop version of Resurrection Remix, which is not being updated anymore. It still works, and you can find it over in the other forum if you scroll down into the development threads -- but @bhb27 is focusing all his attention on current software.
This question is as close to mine as I can find so I hope posting here is OK.
I got the VZ OTA update (Before unlock and root) to marsh and it literally broke a few of the programs I use. Some of them will never get updates so that is out. So I would like to go back to 5. Because I did get the OTA to 6 is it possible to go back to 5? Yes I am unlocked and rooted. OR would trying one of the 7's be better?

If you are unlocked and rooted right now (I bolded that statement), yes you can downgrade firmware. But you have to omit gpt.bin in the commands. It's up to you if you wish to try Nougat custom ROMs but your question concerns older programs (apps) that need Lollipop, I thought.
Are there any comparable apps you can use? I don't know what functions these apps do, but if it's related to how the phone functions custom ROMs have many, many built in tweaks/options/enhancements.
