The SPen on my Note 5 has not worked in a while. When I spoke to Samsung they said it was "moisture" damage. Confused as the water damage sticker does not show that the phone has been wet. Regardless, the *#0*# Spen test showed no response to the Spen on the screen. I decided to order a new stylus flex (stylus digitizer) for the phone. I received it today and plugged it in without taking the LCD off, just to see if it worked or not. I moved the Spen around near the flex digitizer but cannot see any response on the screen.
Does it have to be pressed up against the screen to show response? Or as it also not working and the fault is in the motherboard.
Any help is appreciated.

Just to make sure; have you tried another stylus or tried your stylus on a different device?

Yes I have. This stylus works on other notes but other styluses don't work on mine.

A couple of weeks ago my screen broke while I sat down with tight jeans on a chair, while having the phone in my pocket.
I ordered a OEM screen replacement and today i thought i managed to replace it.
The problem is that the screen does not work, I can hear the phone turning on but the screen just flashing the same yellow/green/white color whatever i do.
Here is a link to a video of the screen. youtube.com/ watch?v=RR_6fwPgJLc
Does anyone have a clue what could be wrong? I was very careful during the whole replacement procedure so i do not think i broke the screen by my self while i was replacing it.
Thanks in advance!
In my opinion its either a faulty screen or the flex cable was damaged.

Thanks for your response.
yes, my first thought was also that i have gotten a faulty screen.
Which flex cable do you mean?
The flex cable that connects the screen to the phone.
I ordered a mainboard and installed it. I almost know sure I did everything right. But the screen is not working. Touch and a black screen... I think it is the connector but don't know sure... Anyone with suggestions?
Edit: It works fine with the old mainboard.

its simple..just check the lcd flex plug... make sure its pressed into position correct... if it still does not respond, then you have probably damaged the flex somehow... a crease.. a very small tear... a pin or pins in the plug itself got pulled loose... etc... it doesnt take much...

Tanks for the response. I know sure it is connected properly. And if it's broken it's very hard to fix I guess...

May be the new mobo is defected.
looks like bad board it is... sorry i assumed you had checked that before.... just send the board back and have them send you another..
Hi, I recently attempted to replace the screen on my Moto G 2014, and now the touch doesn't work. The first replacement didn't work so I ordered another one, but that one doesn't work either.
Am I missing something? I followed the instructions on YouTube to the dot and still no touch response.
On another note, the Amazon listing for the part says XT1063. Wouldn't it work on the XT1064 as well?
One would think so. You didn't bend any of the pins on the ribbon cables did you?

I connected the ribbon cable before I placed the board back into the frame. But either way the cable has to bend. That's why I connected it first and then positioned the board over the screw holes so it would bend naturally.

Sorry, I meant where they make their connections. I would go back and take a close look at every plug even if you have to use a magnifying glass. It sure sounds like something isn't making a connection.

Would another part not connecting properly cause the touch to not work? Also, does the back cover need to be on it for the touch to work? I noticed there are little copper plates on the back cover. I've tried testing with and without it screwed on. I'll take a look at the plugs.
The plugs and pins look fine to me. Nothing bent.

I'm guessing that you replaced the entire screen assembly and not just the glass. If the silicon adhesive between the glass and digitizer isn't on properly, then it's not going to work. If you bought the entire assembly assembled, then that's probably not it. If the entire screen assembly is good, then I'm still betting on some type of connection or broken wire problem. If those ribbon cables get pinched or pulled on even a little, the wire inside gets broken. I don't know how you would be even able to test the cables without replacing them. It could be so many things, I'm out of ideas.

One screen was without the frame, and the other was the whole assembly. I guess it is a broken connection somewhere.... I tried being extra careful
I was replacing the screen for a friend, but I guess I'm going to have to buy them a new phone instead.. D:

Is your Moto G definitely 2nd generation?
Maybe you should have bought the screen for XT1032?
Did you carefully lift up the little lever on the ZIF socket?
And then press it back after fitting the ribbon end?
If the lever breaks then it won't work.
Did you find a solution? I have the same problem
Unplug battery. Plug it again... Worked to me...
Disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it worked for me.
Thanks for the advice!
Help me as well

Screen Touch not working properly - I sat on my Honor X2
Hello
I sat on my X2 GEM-703L under several pillows - bend was 1/2 inch from center (top/bottom were 1/2" lower than center - approaching U shape - very shallow though) I carefully bent it straight (there is a small link in metal frame right side just above center button. Everything else seems to work beside the screen. I will push "4" and the key adjacent character is recognized also it will type on its own or type 3-5 characters when I only pushed one...
Questions:. Does this sound like touch screen Replacement will fix these issues??? Or is thier additional interface hardware attached with the touch screen, or both?
I am hoping it's just touch screen replacement - I really like that phone (even with texting recieve not able to be solved)
Thanks for your help
Gary

Should I have started a new thread?
I've noticed lastely that my pen sensitivity is different in the middle of the screen compared to the corners. I have to press down the pen harder to actually write something, while on the corners I can write normally.,
This was not always the case, the problem appeared just recently. The pen has bad sensitivity in the middle regardless if I try to write or just scroll on a webpage with it.
Restarting the phone didn't help.
I have a custom rom which I have not upgraded for months now (I'm waiting on Oreo roms).
The digitizer seems to work fine when I use my fingers.
I have uploaded a screenshot testing the pen. The corners are where I gently just swiped with the pen. As you can see there's nothing in the middle.
Could this be software (rom) issue, digitizer losing response or the pen itself? Any ideas?

None of the above. The pen has its own sensor behind the screen. It got damaged somehow. Time for a warranty replacement.
do you have a case on the phone? any magnetic closure will cause exactly this

Correct, I suspected it and removed the case and it solved the problem.
I recently bought https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Zim...lloy-Metal-Cover-for-Samsung/32828780058.html
It's a fantastic case in every way, except that it makes Spen go crazy.
Will it cause any permanent damage or am I safe to continue using it?

It was the magnet messing around, the problem disappeared when I removed the case. Good thing I don't need to RMA this, I have 2-step verification for everything haha.

Glad it was easy!:good: I'm surprised a case would be made that interferes with the pen coils. That's annoying. Good thing it didn't permanently damage it. Having to RMA would have been lame. What case did you buy, I'm just curious.

I think it can damage over time. I remember similar reports on the Note 4 forum, but maybe something changed since then too.
It's a mystery to me, how some people still don't know that magnets and phones don't go along ?

The phone works fine, it's only the Spen which is not working well.
Besides, there are already magnets in phone speakers.

I've read that magnets won't damage the phone, unless it's a really strong magnet like a MRI scanner. I won't be coming near any of those anytime soon.
The only thing that would be temporarily affected is the compass, which I don't use, and Spen in this case, which I use rarely.

Doh! Just breezed right over that. That's a pretty crazy case.
just about every folding case on amazon has a magnet in it that will affect the spen usage.
just a warning to everyone.
Yep even a small magnet for the latch causes mine to curve away.

Hi,
Is there a way to calibrate the Spen? Its accurate for about 90% of the screen but when i move to the left most part of the screen it doesnt follow. It stops about 1/4 of an inch and doesnt reach the end of the screen
I dont have any case on it
No screen protectors as well
No magnetic items to interfere with the spen
Tried the "touch all four corners" trick but didnt fix it
Any other ideas?
Thanks
I dont think that the issue is the s pen, it is most likely the screen digitizer, if the s pen was faulty, the problem would arise anywhere on the screen, take your device for warranty claim ASAP
Try changing or reinstalling the SPen tip...

I agree. The walcom digitizer is probably broken.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Tried it with a different Spen from another Note 8. Still the same problem. My digitizer must be broken. Ill send it for repairs. First time to claim warranty on a samsung Note product since the Note 1. Note 7 is an exception since that was just faulty for everyone
The note 7 was not faulty for me, I still have it, works really fine
Just got my note back from the service center. took them one day to fix it. You guys were right, it was a faulty digitizer.
lucky for me. they changed the whole screen assembly, i now have a new scratcheless screen. They also said they replaced the battery since the front assembly comes with a new battery since its suppose to be glued to it
Really glad to hear it worked so good for you! , that is the benefit of purchasing legally/oficially distributed devices some want to save money, but the peace of mind is most important
Hi guys
I have the same problem .If I replace just touch screen ,will the problem be solved???Or is it LCD?
Because I disconnected touch screen cable and saw that pen digitizer still is working and I guessed that pen digitizer is connected to LCD?Am I right??

It seems that the majority of the Note 7s that had issues with the battery were restricted to the US. As I can't find issues with the Note 7 in other regions of the world...

You need to replace the entire AMOLED display under the glass panel, which is no easy task. As you need a very clean room to do it to ensure that you do not have any specs of dust on it.
