Get into recover mode Xperia SP - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I have such a basic question people would laugh to hear. I keep reading and hearing "Xperia SP entering recovery mode" or something. I've tried so many things, every possible way to enter recovery mode to clear data (or hard reset) my Xperia SP C5303 but it doesn't work. I've watched videos but they are not clear, I tried all the methods mentioned; e.g.
hold and press Volume Up + Volume Down + Power button until you see menu.
press and hold Volume Down. --> press and release Power button.
these are mentioned in hardreset.info, but my phone does not enter recovery mode, instead, it just restarts the phone normally. I need to know whether it's even possible to enter recovery mode, and if so, what's the correct way. I tried power button, volume buttons, all combination and everything that is mentioned on the internet. I don't want to do it with Sony Companion.
After that I'll need to install CM13 to it, my build number is 12.1.A.1.205 and I expect that I can install Marshmallow or Lollipop on it, please guide me to it.
Thanks

You need to do the following:
Root,
Backup TA,
Unlock your Bootloader,
Flash Recovery,
Then Flash CM13
Read this thread to before proceeding.

Thank you, still something is missing in the reply
Thank you for the response, I'll work on that "CM13 installation" as guided, but my main answer is still unanswered; i.e. how do I enter the recovery mode of Xperia SP C5303?, it's been really irritating that nothing works, my phone just restarts as it normally does. I already mentioned that I've already tried so many key combinations as described all over the internet so I'm expecting the right answer in this forum, because unlike the normal internet users, XDA is a group of serious developers.

How would u reboot to a recovery if don't have one ? From ur post it's clearly there is no recovery [emoji2] ...so u should read the guide my friend gave u up there and install a recovery then try to enter ...and the way is ...power the phone up and keep pressing the volume(-) button (not long press ) but press after press fast ...in cm12.1 and cm13 with twrp u should press volume (+) instead to get to twrp not cm recovery
Have a nice day [emoji4]

Of course serious developers, but duplicate questions aren't fun either.
If you are following the guide linked by fellow Zenith, you will soon to realise that to access the recovery you will need to hit volume + when the LED bar lights up. If you are doing something else, please explain in detail, and i will try to assist you with it
Same goes to the TWRP thread, it is already mentioned that to access recovery, use volume +. To access ROM's standard recovery, use volume -
If you are wondering about key combination to enter recovery when the device is initially powered off, this is impossible for the Xperia SP and most Xperia devices. This is a hardware limitation.
Thanks

How to enter recovery mode?

Well title pretty much says what my problem is. I know there are topics that are pretty similar to this one and I read them, tryed them all and I still cannot make recovery mode on my phone work. My best guess is that network from which i bought the phone locked that somehow?
Here's what I've tryed:
Recovery Mode:
With the phone powered off
Turn phone on, while holding power button and pressing back button as shown in video below (start at watching at 0:40)
/watch?v=kReGHJw0elo
I dont think this way (below) is a proper way of entering recovery mode. Anyways i've tryed it:

UnPlug the USB cable.
Turn the phone on it’s side and use both thumbs to hold (left thumb) Vol Up and (right thumb) Vol Down
Press and hold the power button with your right index finger til you see "Virbant" release the power button and it should be on the recovery screen.

I also tryed with battery out and cable on but all other things that I've tryed sounds more like witchcraft than anything else. So is it possible that network disabled recovery mode and what do you guyz think I should do? Tnx in advance.

Recovery doesn't come preinstalled with phone! You have to install it via flashtool!
First, you need to have root access.
Then, you can install a recovery, I´d recommend you to install Dual Mode Recovery (use the search button, because then you can have both recoveries.
After that, you can enter CWM recovery with touching the screen repeatedly while it´s showing you the white "Sony Ericsson" logo, and you can enter xrecovery by pressing any button repeatedly
Kernel
I have rooted my Xperia X8 and flashed kernel nAa on it, but I can't get in recovery mode no matter what I try..

press back button for few times to enter CWM Recovery in nAa's kernel.
note: you can't successfully flash kernel into your X8 when you only have rooted your device. you need to unlock bootloader! read these threads!

for first u can't boot up to recovery. cause sony doents have default recovery. u must install manual, xrecovery/cwm recovery. u can install it with x8tool, flashtool, or manualy pushing to /system/bin folder.

Use search before posting anything. X8 recovery has two or three types. Dual mode is to either tap the screen and back button. Most recovery is back button.

The problem with the recovery menu

Welcome.
I have a problem with my Milestone (A853) and so when I go into recovery mode (power + x) gives me a triangle with the phone, everything like it is oke but when I press the key combination vol + and camera (I tried various combinations of vol-and camera, vol + / - together and also there) I do not know what to do because I want to upload Softa but I can not enter into the menu? Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor English
PS If this is the wrong forum, please move
If I understand you, you want to flash a new version of Android on your phone.
If so, then follow the guide in my signature, it describes everthing you need to know and need to do.
What are the instructions? I read your post recovery but I noticed that the recovery menu is done? And I was in the menu, I can not enter
Please, use simple english because I dont really understand your posts.
Anyway, >>THIS<< is the guide I was talking about.
I downloaded it already but no effect. Once again, sorry for my english
Can you take a photo from the screen where you stucked?

[Q] I think I bricked my phone :( :( - PLEASE help!

Hi,
I tried the regular fastboot method to load CWM recovery.
Whenever it got to the point of loading the recovering, it would just say "flashing recovery on the device...".
Then, when restarting bootloader and clicking on "recovery", it would just shut down the phone.
I decided to experiment to try fix the issue, and I came across this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928551
I downloaded the ZIP file and I ran the root.bat
It flashed some boot images and now my phone wont start
It is stuck on the "warning bootloader unlocked screen" and will not go any further.
Please help . I'm so scared that I've bricked my phone. Is there ANYTHING I can do?
Thanks in advance for the help!
The methods u used can't brick your phone
Reboot in boot loader by pressing the power button and volume - button at the same time. Just at the moment the phone shuts-down/reboot release the power button. It will boot in boot loader. After this flash cwm or twrp again and with the volume down button go to recovery. Select recovery with the volume up key and u are done. Cwm/twrp is flashed and will boot in the recovery.
In recovery I would install the ROM from Omar. It will restore your system and boot.IMG so it will work. Don't forget to wipe data.
If this doesn't work flash the home made fast boot files somewhere in the development section

Thanks - I tried that. I do let go of the buttons as soon as it starts to reboot itself, but it doesn't start the bootloader - it still just shows the screen "warning bootloader unlocked". I can not get back into the bootloader
Do u reset the phone with the 4 buttons and just when it resets does your phone reboots immediately?

If I hold all 4 buttons, the screen goes blank, and the green light stays on. My PC then finds hardware called "MEDFIELD" but wont find drivers for it.
Does this help at all?

The above applies when connected with usb.
If I press all 4 buttons without USB connected, it just reboots and gets stuck on the "unlocked bootloader" message again

You should let go only of power button and hold vol.down button (at least for me)
If your PC finds hardware - can you do fastboot devices to check whether it is actually recognized properly?
And last thing - which method you used to load recovery (and were you on ICS\JB)? You were rooted and used automated methods or you unlocked bootloader and wanted to root afterwards (manually through fastboot)?

You are a GENIUS!!! A LIFE SAVER!!! I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am. BOTH of your points fixed the phone.
I could never get into recovery becuase I was pressing the power button. I could never get into fastboot becuase I was holding both the power and volume down button.
So, for anyone using a RAZR I... please note the following SIMPLE things:
1) In the bootloader menu, the power button does NOT select the option. The VOL UP button selects the option
2) To boot into BOOTLOADER : Hold both power and vol down buttons until the phone restarts, and then RELEASE the power button, while still HOLDING the volume down button! It will then load the bootloader.
Again, THANKS so so much for reviving my phone for me. I was going crazy without a phone!

I was going through everything you've faced yesterday. So yeah, glad I was of help to someone else as well)
This has never happened to me before but don't stress one bit because nothing ever permanently bad comes from this. You can forget about it being destroyed. These aren't iPhones, haha. You can get it going again pretty easy I hear. Just don't stress because there is no point and you WILL get help. Just listen to what these experienced dudes are saying and you should be back on track. Good luck!

UPDATE: Nice! Glad to see you got the help you needed and everything's back on track!
Nice that it is solved. I gave u the solution on my first post, but nice that someone els did a better job in explaining it
There is almost no possibilities to brick your device if u only flash things like the boot, system, recovery or data partition. They can he solved very easy. If u flash the other partitions like the radio u can get a problem.

Brick/Bootloop Huawei P8 Lite 2017

Hello everyone, I saw a few posts on this forum about other bricked phones, but my case is different (if its not then please link me the thread, Thanks).
Story: Today I decided that my unrooted phone wasn't enough for me, so I said: "Why not root?" . I have to add that I owned a LG Magna 3G before this Huawei P8 LIte 2017 and oh boi was the rooting procedure WAY HARDER(the huawei procedure)... I did well with my LG, but not so well with my Huawei. To be honest I was almost done but because I couldnt boot into TWRP, I decided to follow a guide I cant find cause I followed so many that my History is a mess (if anyone requests I will do some digging though). The guy suggested to someone that couldnt boot into TWRP (like me) that he should falsh TWRP>relock his OEM>Shutdown>Press a combination to go into recovery mode>???>Profit. I did just that but my device is now a 180 Euro brick.
Probelm: My device bootloops. Every time I shut it down (hold power key for 10sec), it reboots and gets stuck on the famous "Your device has been locked and can't be trusted. To learn more, BLAH BLAH BLAH. Your device is booting now...
I tried several key combinations, but whatever I do, when I hold my power key for 10sec, The huawei logo pops up for a second or two and then I get stuck on this screen again...
Sadly, I seem to have no connection between my PC and my device (adb can't find any connected device).
I also want to add that, after I was promted to relock my OEM, I removed the USB cable whoopsie.
What Im looking for:
A way to regain contact between my PC (adb) and my phone
A way to shutdown my device for now (and not forever... just for the night)
Someone to tell me that he had the same issue and took the following steps (Need clear answers and steps)
Anything else whatsoever
I don't think it's necessary to provide the files I used, since the reason my device is like this is because of my own stupidity:silly:
Thank you for your time.

Sorry for replying after 2 hours, I didn't get a notification.
I tried:
1. Holding the buttons until I see the "your device is booting..." message
2.Holding the buttons until it vibrates
3.Holding the buttons until I see the Huawei logo
Thanks for your time anyway
You press Volume Up + Power simultaneously, when you see the Huawei logo you release Power and hold Volume Up only until it boots to erecovery.

The most drastic solution is the DC Phoenix software, not for free, if i am right they ask 15€ for 72 hours.
Not going to bother with this one tho... if I am very desperate, I might try to "borrow" it, but Im gonna seek other solutions until then.
Thanks for your time
On the "your device has been unlocked" hold the Volume up button until you boot to eRecovery. From there connect to wifi and restore stock rom. Afaik, erecovery should boot on bootlooped device. Give it a try
If this doesnt work, plug in to pc, and hold volume up + power, on huawei logo leave power button and hold volume up until you get to erecovery

Hello, thanks for replying
My device is now good, only gapps are missing but I don't care too much. Here is what happened:
So, I left my phone unplugged from any power source during the night (meanwhile the screen couldn't turn off), although I swear I did this 20 times already, when I booted my device after I came back from my University, my phone booted into eRecovery... I downloaded the latest package and it seems to work just fine now, the only problem is that the gapps need to be flased via TWRP (that I don't think I have anymore, how ironic).
Thanks to all of you who cared about giving me a solution :victory: Have a fantastic day
If you want to have a complete working system, i suggest you to try to update using erecovery again. It should download full firmware with gapps etc

Well, that was what we told you to do at first time. Erecovery can bring it back to life easily. Now as you have already been told erecovery flashes the complete firmware, including gapps.
You can also try to update it through the settings menu, in the system update settings you press the three dots menu on the upper right corner and select download latest complete package.

You should be fine, Odin supports any version of windows after XP and Samsung's mobile device drivers should support Windows 7 as well, once you enable OEM unlock in settings (assuming you have had the phone on for over 7 days) flash TWRP via Odin and from there you can boot into TWRP on your phone and flash Magisk for root.
So that it would be okay to use Max Lee's version of root which I believe he got from Dr Keaton's, XDA's version . By the way thank you

You should not be doing ANY of this if you cannot get any further than that. You posted your root question in at least three new threads, but there are hundreds of threads with your answers. If you need your hand held, you should just stop right now before you break your phone. Then how will you fix it?
If you had that much to say should have answered the question again instead of wasting your breath, point me to where I could have found the answer. Plus I followed all the directions that was giving me to the extent of what I found this is why I asked was I missing something, so please try complimenting your fellow enthusiasts and please be more courteous and understanding.
Now is this is this a step that I was missing---
10.Disconnect device and hold Vol down + power till screen goes off, Now immediately press Vol Up + Bixby + Power to reboot to TWRP
11.Select to allow modification
12.From TWRP, Select WIPE menu - Then FORMAT DATA - You need to type 'yes' to perform wipe. WARNING : This will erase all data including Int SD storage from device
13.Once format device completes, go back and select REBOOT' Menu and then - 'RECOVERY', This will reboot to TWRP again
14.Now select Install and navigate path to Ext SD card
Much praise and thanks to Dr. Ketan.
But as for the other Cyber Bully all you had to do was help point me in the right direction instead of trying to crush an ambitious spirit... This form is supposed to be inclusive instead of ex-clusive... By the way I am now using a Windows 10 thank you XDA.

What a snowflake!
I won't root my Note9, so I don't have the answers for you, however I have seen these answers posted all over the Note9 forums. Rooting successfully is not something that anyone will hold your hand through when there are directions in other threads. Go to those threads, READ, then ask specific questions there. Asking "can I root my phone", multiple times, in new threads, in a forum full of directions on how to root specific devices, is possibly one of the most annoying things you can do. Kids today. They don't do homework anymore.
If I need a clown I rent one if the same questions been asked over and over again that should be relatively simple for you to answer instead of your reverse rhetoric that gets nobody anywhere. If you read my post with sincere enthusiasm it was a very specific question I asked. This is an inclusive forum and not exclusive so mind your manners, answer the question and move on if you can't keep your notes to yourself... And in answer to my own question was after I Passed I needed to unplug the device and then proceed into TWRP. So how was that silly rabbit...Clown.
However this is the step that I was missing---
10.Disconnect device and hold Vol down + power till screen goes off, Now immediately press Vol Up + Bixby + Power to reboot to TWRP
Ketan.
But as for the other Cyber Bully all you had to do was help point me in the right direction instead of trying to Clown me... Cyber Sissy's I bet you cross your legs like a woman...
U- Cyber Sissy's
ROOTED, no brick, no bootloop, just... ROOTED!!!!
Heh! Silly kid! glad you did your homework! It was probably a good learning experience for you too!
Yeah I'm also glad you got something from this too, this forum is excellent for helping people and you have the knowledge to do it, so don't discourage enthusiastic Rooters... So thank you and keep up the good work.
