Hi, I've tried 10 different weather clock widget, but they all keep stopping. Meaning that the time stops every now an then.
Example the time is 19:46 but widget stops at 19:18
Anyone experienced similar problem?
Make sure they're allowed to run in the background and that they aren't cleared when you clear your RAM.

How do I do that? I have gone to permissions and everything is ticked but I can't see anything about running in the background.
Edit: the setting is in battery and I have already done that and it doesn't really help
Same here even with all permissions allowed, locked in tray, and custom settings (all allowed) in battery saving
I've had this issue since MIUI v5.

The clock widget works perfect in cm 13. The same widget that gave me issues before

Just regular out of box rom. Not sure if it's global or Chinese with English language. About says "Miui 7.3 - 7.3.3.0) I think it was the clear cache that caused it.

Hey guys,
as many others here, I upgraded to JB, and everything seems fine. However, one thing bothers me: there's an app that seems accountable for 15% of device usage (according to battery stats), it's com.motorola.motocare. Does anybody know what this is for and if there is a way to keep it from using that much battery (or uninstalling it, for that matter)?

Some of the system apps let you 'disable' them in the app details. Check if you can do that with this one.
Unjnstall it with titanium backup,

How did you figure out it was a battery drain,
Did it appear as a standalone app in the battery usage?
Or was it using betterbatterystats wakelocks analyzer or something more specific??

for me it appears in better battery stats as "MotoCare - com.motorola.motocare" and is usually the second biggest consumer at 13%.
I think you'r getting it wrong, it uses 13% not of the total battery but 13% of the percentagem used by the apps alone.
I got rid of the app and had no problems...

well, the important fact for me is that it is shown as the second biggest consumer...and if I don't need it, I don't see any use in having it eat battery, no matter what the exact percentage.

Going to give it a try too, I have been freezing some of Moto bloatware with TitaniumBackup, but missed this. Might be a good find, thanks.
Option "Disable" for this app is not active (in stock firmware). You may only "Clear data".
There are two MotoCare Apps (MotoCare 1.1 & MotoCareInt 1.0)
Does someone exactly know for what Motorola Services do we need these files ?

I think I've found that this app is now called "Moto Help", although, com.motorola.motocare, still appears in system as a priv-app, and still sucks battery even after deleting Moto Help. So I decided to freeze it over after deleting data (apparently it colects information about how you use the phone)... I'm in the observation process right now, but it seems not to be affecting anything so far

UPDATE
... There's one thing affected. If you take a screenshot, image won't appear in notification panel and shutter sound is muted. Apparently it affects camera since it restarted when I opened it (after unfreezing com.motorola.motocare), as if it was used for the first time...

No, but there's a workaround. Go to app info for the app that causes it and manually set permissions.

This totally worked nice find. This was such a huge issue with this phone.
As in the s8 plus, while watching youtube an icon will appear to let u fit the video to the entire screen. Now on my note 8 this icon is no longer present.
When you play a youtube video a round "crop to fit" button pops up which allows it to play fullscreen.

Yup tried that already. I did a factory reset yesterday cuz of other issues
That is a bummer. I looked all through settings on mine and couldn't see anything that would affect. Good luck!
Had the same issue. Updated the Software in settings and now its working. You'll see that the Software update includes enhancements. Perhaps Samsung forgot to include that feature the first time around.

It doesn't seem to matter. I can tap anywhere and the icon will pop up on the right side.
For me some videos start out cropped, like some videos from Vevo. It says "Automatically adjusted to fit screen." Then you have to tap the screen to switch it back to normal. And others start out normal and you have to tap to crop.

I've just starting having an issue with my stock Sprint Note 8. The notification panel/ edge panel and floating apps (specifically FB messenger chat heads) will close on their own. it's getting to the point of these apps not being usable. I've done all the basic diagnostics/app maintenance and reboots as well as reset all my settings to stock. this is a last ditch effort to figure something out before I factory reset. I think it's got to be an app not playing nice. The phone doesn't have this issue in safe mode. Just wondering if anyone else has seen or heard of this and if there is an easier fix than uninstalling apps or wiping my device

Yeah... Thought it was gear 360, but it just started up again. I'll get rid of secure WiFi and see if that works. I didn't really see a connection with WiFi or no WiFi though. It's happening either way. Starting to wonder if it's a software issue

Thank you so much for posting this! I was getting so frustrated with this issue. This is why I love these forums.
I need help with my new note 8. Just finish setup and find my stock weather app / widget wan't work. i got message "couldn't find location" (my gps working fine in maps, etc). Also when try to set location manual got message: "service is not available temporarily". I try everything, set permissions, clear in app data cash, reboot, finally upgrade my phone to latest "N950FXXU1BQK6_N950FOXM1BQK6_BRI" and have some problem.
If someone have idea what to do, pleas help me? Thanks
Have you tried high accuracy in location settings?
Yes i try everything , my friend also have problem on s8 plus. I think it's maybe regional problem, we are from Serbia

Same problem here and I'm in Indiana. Been flashing a lot today and thought I screwed something up...glad it's not just me!
I've got the same problem. Brand new phone, yesterday. Done a few updates.
Never used Samsung before, so taking a bit of getting used to - still not created a Samsung account . No idea why I need this to download a theme?
Going through all the setups/ discovery process.
Thought it was just me, but seems its not just me.

If others can say whether they have created a Samsung account, that may help.

I fixed it by opening a GPS app wait till the location is accurate and then in Weather app clicked search and then the find my location button
Yes. In begining also i have same problem and then when i setup complet then this problem gone...
I suspect that in some cases, samsung or carrier make all functions fully operational after you complete the initial set up procedure, depending on region/carrier, just a thought

Problem
Hi, I have a S8+ and I have the same problem. When I click the refresh button on the weather widget it says: Service is not available temporarily.
I am from Macedonia, and like the user from Serbia said, maybe it's a regional problem.
The weather widget on the home screen works for me with the latest update on my N9500.
The weather in Bixby home is unable to update. It worked before the November update.
