i got my free flip cover along with the phone. but actually there's no indication of any price on the box of the flip cover. it's has "not for sale" on it. but if i need to purchase the same exact cover, then it costs nearly Rs.1800 or 1900 in the local samsung store
Update...Germany /Dortmund...
I have now get my flip cover from samsung.

For a Freebie it's okay but I wouldn't pay the asking price for it.
I would spend a bit more and get a leather flip-case.
The build quality of the original flip cover is good and although its meant to be free with the device, the indicative price is to enhance the perceived value as there are negligible customers who would buy it.
By the way, the WHITE flip covers are EXHAUSTED in the Indian market and you will have to (wait or) take the dark blue flip cover if u are taking a white device.
The flip cover is unique in the way it replaces the back cover and hardly adds any thickness. It feels pretty cheap though and I wouldn't pay more than maybe $20 for it.

Got mine yesterday afternoon.
It took about 2 weeks. I've ordered it at 26 January.
Hi All,
I am using the flip cover. Compare to other cover it is good to use.
Also the cover is not at all of cheap quality , I guess it justifies it's price of Rs 1799 as i have another HTC phone Desire HD whose back cover itself is some 2600 at HTC show room.
So the Note flip cover is well justified and suits the device.
I got a Blue device with free blue cover.
Now planning to order even a White cover as well to give it new look
Where can you order white flip covers? Would like to have a backup as mine feels like it would self destruct any day.

Hi everyone.
this thread is for anyone like me who bought a flip cover and still want to use a samsung protective cover on it to save the chrome frame of the note II from scratches.
in the attachment there is a speed mockup i did to have a preview of the result.
Actually i am using flip + protective without any mod, but the both-handed use in portrait ain't so confortable because the flip cannot flip itself on the backcover but just get a 90 degrees angle before stopping when the protective cover edge oppose resistence. Now i'm studying the right approach to operate the easy way and with no errors to cut the left side and make the flip cover flip again on the back with a protective cover on it though.
I was surprised that no one posted a thread like this, because imho the official protective + flip cover combo is the most elegant way to use the phone with no regrets on where you put it or how you put etc. I'm looking for any suggest and would like to share this experience with other users who are in this case
NOW THAT is imaginative! Im sooo doing this!
Good choice, if u gonna try please report us with pics. That would be awesome
I am scared that after the cut the resulting edges would be too sharp and look some of crappy handmade. I doubt that is not necessary to cut all the entire height of the grey bumper from the left side to obtain usability on portrait, maybe just a few millimetres and the flip will regain his full rotation. I don't know how the white edge of the protective cover will look like after the cut, if we suppose to cut all the grey bumper for a more balanced resulting design.

This is the best way to go. Thanks for the idea. So basically do you have to get both samsung made flip cover and a samsung made protective cover for this to work right or do you think other flip covers and protective covers would work? Waiting on my note II as we speak! I need this combo!
I only tried with samsung genuine protective plus flip cover, this concept may fit also with other producers' accessories but it depends on their thickness and dynamics

Genius! Too bad I returned the flip cover when my protective cover arrived. It looks good but I'll see how well the Ebay flip cover case fits before I go and buy a Samsung flip cover again to do the mods.
Any particular bumper/silicon case?..........or just the cheapest going off ebay? My GN2 and flip case haven't arrived yet but I'll be doing this mod straight away

Sorry, I hadn't read the original post correctly.....I thought the genuine flip case was also the 'protective cover' - just different names for it. Hadn't realised this mod was a hybrid of two different genuine cases. I saw the grey bumper and thought that was cut from a cheapo none branded silicone case.
Can you explain what the rear of the GN2 looks like then? I haven't seen this protective cover yet and none of the photos show the back.....I'm trying to imagine whether it's only the bumper that is cut from the protective cover or whether that makes up the rear of the modified case. Thanks in advance.
The samsung protective cover for gn2 is made of two materials, the back is exactly the same white material of the original backcover, with the same look, and the gray bumper is a soft gum. I highly suggest this cover, it follows the same feel and design of the n7100.

OMG Thank you so much!
This is EXACTLY what I wanted! I'm going to combine this with a flygrip and I will be all set!
I tried asking on another thread if anyone knew if a bumper case could fit over my flip case but never got any responses...
I would have been afraid to be the first one to try but now that I see that it can work I can't wait to do it!
Off to the Samsung website for the 50% off coupon and the black protective case!
Thank You Again!!!
I have done exactly the same thing with the original note 1

Great Idea
Here is my take on this great idea - I found that after I cut the side, doing some light sanding made for a much smoother and nicer finish along the hard white plastic edge. Also to smooth out the grey bumper edges that I cut - I heated up a butter knife (not too hot) and lightly pressed it up against the edges and made for a much smoother cut edge (does not look like it was cut with exacto knife)
Looks great!

Hi,
Did you remove all the gray soft plastic? I left about a mm because it masks better. Is it that that you smooth?
d.
Thats probably the best case (combo) ive ever seens. A couple of questions.
Please provide links for where you got both.
Dont you find it an inconvenience to flip it everytime you want to use the phone?
If the phone was in freefall would the flip become flappy and the phone drop on its screen?

I've just ordered a genuine back plate and flip cover. Lets see how this goes.
Also are you guys using a screen protector? If so does the case lift it off?
Yes, if you look at the outside of the case - all of the grey is removed, there is still a tiny amount of residual grey on the inside surface of the white plastic. I sanded down the hard white plastic edge.

Kind of expensive but I got the flip cover from the local sprint store $40 (that is the only place that i could find one) Even tho my phone is the T-Mo variant, the sprint one still fits. And I got the white plastic case from newegg $22.
I dont think that it is a bother to flip open the case - I kind of like it actually
In theory it could drop on the screen or something could drop on the screen but I also put on a screen cover - i guess my phone can survive most scenarios
Is there some sort of case that I can use to protect the back of the phone that works with the flip cover? I can almost get a gel case on the back, but without making some modifications with a craft knife (I am useless at that sort of thing), I can't fold the cover back with it attached.
There must be some solution out here that allows me to use the flip cover with protection on the back?
Thanks for any advice.
I would like to know this too. Any info would be much appreciated.

Case Combo that Works
I use both a Flip Case and a Hybrid Case together giving me front cover, all around protection and kickstand. I attached the flip case. I then cut a small section from the left side of the hybrid case to allow the cover on the flip to open freely and attached it to the GN2 with the flip cover. Here are the ebay products I used:
Black Luxury Flip Case Brushed Cover For Samsung Galaxy Note 2 II N7100 NEW - $8.66
Black Hybrid Jolt Hard TPU Case Cover Kickstand For Samsung Galaxy Note II 2 - $9.95

Its just the cutting part I wanted to avoid. Im quite surprised samsung didnt develop a back case to compliment the flip cover.
Looks like im gonna have to try and cut a section out of my gel case then, or find someone who has some cutting skills.

Why don't you get a cover that had a flip built in. They seem to cost the same.

Hmm,a badly cut edge could scratch the metal part.which is not replaceable. Since you're thinking of buying a case anyway, why not spend the extra 5 dollars and go for one's with built in flip cover. They look the same the oems

Hi Ram again with another review this time for the official Clear S View Flip Case for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge I also show the results of using the case for several weeks and if it scratched my screen. I point out some major flaws, so please subscribe to my channel it's free and I have reviewed lots of case's already including the official led flip case. Click the link below.
Mod Edit
Thanks for your time and bye for now.
Thanks for this - coming from an S6 Edge fiasco and your great review will avoid.
Question though what about the SVIEW cover and flip cover cases are they the same.

The Samsung s view cover might scratch the screen because of the plastic window as I remember last year's version having that issue. I use the led flip cover which is much much better and very similar to the flip covers. I had the led flip case on my note 4 for 2 years without a screen protector and no issues at all and now my girlfriend is using my old led case for her note 4 for the last 18 months and no issues. I hope this helps and thanks for the kind words please subscribe to my YouTube channel it's free and I have so many more case's coming up and I have the official samsung s7 edge wireless fast charger coming tomorrow that I will be reviewing.
Thanks will do.

Did you notice the back panel has raised edges that provide a milimeter or more spacing to the screen itself, so if you drop it on a flat surface with the cover open, even on concrete it should absorb the momentum.

Yes.
I personally like this case very much; first of all, I hate the way Samsung designed the lateral for all its cases this year, I prefer the only-corner ones and this case is the only one that has it; next, you can still see missed events (notification LED); plus they refined the finish and is not so fingerprint shower...
BUT, from direct experience, anybody can confirm us FOR SURE whether it scratches the screen or not? they clearly worked on this issue but is the problem solved?

according to the list from the second link in this thread the Dome is compatible with the Alcantara case
I just installed the whitestone and am using the alcantara case. It works but the bottom is a cause for concern. The bottom left and right edges actually touch the screen protector. You have to ensure that the left and right flaps come over top the glass, otherwise you will be pushing up against the glass.

Was wondering about this, saw it at Best Buy and noticed those bottom corners came up and over and hit my zag screen protector. Let us know if it ends up pushing that Whitestone off. Thanks!

Be careful when putting the case on. There's not much room around the edges.
I bought the Zizo to be used at work and 2 other cases for home/days off but with not having much room I'm not going to be swapping cases like I was.

Also, I believe the Spigens are all cut from the same plan/pattern. The bottom is RIGHT at the case on my phone but not so at the top. If I had it to do over again I would have put some scotch tape on the JIG on the top piece in the area that is the stop for the bottom of the protector. If you don't know what I mean just dry fit it and push the protector to the bottom of the phone Where it contacts the JIG, put the tape there to space it out . This would push it up less than a MM to give more gap and better center it for the spigen cases.
Whitestone + official Samsung rugged protective case = perfect fit so far. But only 4 days so maybe too early
Works perfect with spigen thin fit
