I rooted my SM-N920R6 a few months ago. I have a post explaining the process. I'll look for the post now. However yes I know it's frustrating. I soft bricked my phone and had to research this for three days before finding the solution because the SM-N920R6 is a variant that is not widely used (only a couple of local carriers as far as I know).
Here is the process to root and unroot the SM-N920R6 (root directions at the lower portion of the post).

Hello all
I have had my nexus one for quite a while now and when i bought it the bootloader had already been unlocked, but it had not been rooted yet. The problem I am having is the lack of space the nexus one has for installing apps as apps2sd is dependent on the developers.
So after some research i have found an app called 'ModInstallLocation' which tells me i can install apps to my sd card but it needs the phone to be rooted. Is this correct?
This is where i need some help. I hear all this talk about rooted phones and custom roms and i understand the idea behind it but have no technical knowledge to do this.
At this time i am happy with the stock version of android i have on my nexus (2.2.2 FRG83G) its just the lack of space i have to install apps that's forcing me down this road. I am sure there are many other advantages to rooting and i hope to discover them in time.
Could someone please give a helping hand and point me in the right direction for an idiots guide. I am a bit scared of bricking my phone tho, never endeavored on anything like this before.
Many thanks
JW

thanks you for your response, think that explains how to proceed.
couple more questions if you could help.
1. Do i have to install a custom rom after i root?
2. As i have not got much experiance in this field should i wait for the OTA update to gingerbread before i root?
many thanks
JW
1. No, if you're ok with stock ROM - you can stay with it.
2. Not really, depends mostly on what you're looking for. Gingerbread will still land on your phone (and unroot you), as long as you're using stock ROM and recovery.
Hey Everyone
AT&T Galaxy Note 3. It's rooted, safestrap installed, backed up the stock rom. Now what to do?
I've read about backing up EFS files, but the app it recommended isn't compatible with Note 3.
Is there anyway to back up EFS on At&t Note 3?
Also, What ROMS are safe and user friendly to run on Note 3 right now?
Is there a tutorial on how to install and run the ROMS somewhere? I've seen some stuff for Verizon, but not at&t.
Also, Will installing and running some of these ROMS via safestrap trip my KNOX counter?
Someone please help, and post an idiot-proof response.
I just decided to take the plunge the other day and root my phone, now I'm ready to ditch TouchWiz.
Thanks for your response in advanced. Please be as simple as possible.

You asked for idiot proof so here you go!

Most of your answers you may have now, and will have later can be found here. [Index]
The roms you're looking for can be found in the android develpment section here. There are instructions for each rom in the first post or two. Pay attention and read them at least twice. If you do then you won't trip your knox counter.
So this might be a noob question, or answered elsewhere in the forum, but I can't find my exact answer or my phone. For the record rooting wasn't this difficult when I had my HTC Incredible before joining the Apple side for almost 2 years. Anyways I tried to root and successfully did so via towelroot, but upon trying to install liquid smooth rom (if there's any other rom's that are good on battery/ram please let me know haha) I got the dreaded take this phone to a Verizon store message. Well I flashed back to stock via Odin, but I still want to root my device in order to install some sort of rom that'll be nicer to my battery and would appreciate any help that can be given! Thanks in advance guys!
Did you manage to flash a recovery?
I just switched over to T-Mobile with a Note 4 T3 running DOK2 from Verizon with a S5. I tried rooting a couple of days ago and soft bricked my phone. Luckily somehow I got the phone back to stock and running fine. I have also searched these forums for hours trying to find a tutorial on how to root this phone with a simple explanation. I have used Odin for years to root but never had to change kernels or anything really in depth. Is there an easier way to root? Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
I hope this helps
You can try cf auto root
Hey Folks,
Just bought this AT&T Note 3 off Craigslist, guy, owned it over a year, and it's running the latest Lollipop 5.0 OC2, so,spent the better of the past four hours reading and searching, just keep seem back to the same question

Or should I follow the current instructions telling me to downgrade to either (some say OC1), some say (4.4.2 Kit Kat), then towelroot, safestrap, then using safestrap reflash prerooted, unbloated, OC1? Sorry guys not new to all this just alot of info and trying to find my way through the weeds
Any help would be appriciated more than you would ever know, I know we're all busy, just need pointed to the one right way, thanks
