Z3+ bricked? - Xperia Z4/Z3+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i had my Z3+ on stock lollipop, no root or bootloader unlocked whatsoever, received the ota for 6.0, on the reboot it never came back to life...:crying:
It won´t boot, won´t charge, looks like it´s completely dead, i´ve tried vol up+power, vol down+power and nothing worked, the lcd is always off, no lights or notification led whatsoever.
The only thing that it does is when connecting to PC it appears as "qhsusb_bulk" on the drivers list, even on flashtool logs says connected but it can´t flash because it won´t change to flash mode.
My Z3+ is no longer on warranty...
So guys, do you think it´s dead?

[Q] Help...Xperia ZR not powering on.

I need to confirm before submitting to Sony Service center.
Day before yesterday, I check my phone in morning, It was powered off. I connected the charger & My Phone is not powering on. Not even the LED is lighting up. I let the phone over the charger throughout the night but still no response. Unable to connect the PC in Flashmode / Fastboot mode.
Just noticed that, if I connect the phone to the charger without battery the LED is lighting up. If I connect the battery to the phone the LED powers off. Is it normal in our Xperia ZR, that the LED will light up if connected to charger without battery. Or My Battery / Phone is dead ?
I am in Locked Bootloader
Any suggestion would be helpful. I am asking It because I have rooted my mobile. I am trying to flash clean stock firmware before submitting to Service center.
Did you recently flash a custom ROM? If so, did it boot before this issue? When you press and hold the power button, does the phone vibrate? How did you try to booting into flashmode and fastboot? As a reminder, for flashmode, press and hold the down volume key and plug in the cable, for fastboot press and hold up volume key. Try both of these while connected to your computer with Flashtool open, and check if you've succeeded. If yes, go ahead and flash your stock ROM, problem solved.
If you didn't recently flash a ROM, or none of the steps detailed above are working, it is probably a battery issue, or a kernel issue (some custom kernels have a bug which allows the battery to completely drain, making it unable to charge again). Try buying another battery and check if it works.
After all this, if you still cannot flash the stock, your only option is Sony Service, and even they may not be able to do anything. Plus, if they get it working again, you may not be able to claim warranty if you're on a custom ROM, though you might get lucky, since your bootloader is still locked.
Hope this helps.

I just rooted & on full stock rom. It was working fine all day. Nothing major is done on my phone. No vibrate while pressing power button.
I tried connecting flashmode & fastboot mode by pressing up arrow(and down arrow) while connecting to PC. Device is not detected in Device manager as well as in flashtools.
Just now only I returned home after submitting mobile to service center.

Then it was probably a battery defect. If all you did is root, then you have a reasonable chance of getting it replaced under warranty, mainly depending on the mood of the service inspector.

Xperia zr stuck at bootloop :(

hi. my xperia zr worked perfectly until last night and suddenly today morning it was stuck in the bootloop
it's battery is completely drain and can't get turned on. when i connect it to the wall charger it goes to the bootloop mode and when i connect it to pc via usb to it just connects and disconnects repeatedly. i can't get it to flash mode via "Volume down" button but it Can go to Adb mode via "Volume up+power" buttons. and when in adb mode (blue led) it won't restart any more.
does any one have any suggestions. i can't use flash tool nor pc companion beacause of this problem.

Ok. If you havent unlocked the bootloader, then go to service centre ( if under warranty)
apreantly it was my battery that made the problem.
replacing the battery and flashing fixed it

What was the last thing that did you do with your phone? Can you still boot it to flashmode? Or have you already installed all drivers for z1?

Try to use the emergency reboot place on the sim tray. the little red button. Did you also tried the combination Power + Volume up and Power + Volume down (Flashmode and fastboot respectively) while the flashtool is runnning?

yes , believe me , i've tried all that things you've said, and it still didn't work
Or have you tried a different cable? if thats not helped you, im affraid you must bring it to the sony repair. but there's one method you can still do, but you must proceed with caution since you will remove the back panel of your phone. see this link >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646405

[Q] Bricked? Phone won't turn on. Blinking red on charge; solid red on power button

hey everyone,
I recently got a warranty replacement of my xperia z3 compact. It came with the latest 5.1.1. I downgraded to .77 (kitkat) through flashtool, rooted, installed the latest dual recovery. In TWRP, I restored one of my old TWRP backups, which was a .28 (lollipop 5.0 I believe). When I press reboot after restoring, the phone won't turn on anymore. No LED or anything. When I plug it into the charger, the LED blinks red. When I hold down the power button while charging, the LED light became solid red.
Flashtool doesn't recognize the phone. What else can I do? Did I corrupt the bootloader? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
happened to me, just flash any stock firmware with flashtool (it doesnt need to be recognised) and do not plug in until it tells you to.
then follow the instructions and wipe everything
hope it helps

I tried flashing with flashtool, but when I plug the phone in when asked to, flashtool does not recognize the phone being plugged in.
Do you know why this happened? Did I do anything (downgrade firmware, flash wrong firmware) that caused this to happen?
I cant tell what did it, because flashing any rom will brick mine to this state, and what do you mean by not recognised? Does it say preparing files for flashing? does it give the 'press volume down and power button' pop up?

yes, after it's done preparing files for flashing, a popup appears which tells me to plug in the phone while holding the volume down button. When I plug in the phone, nothing happens. The flashing process doesn't start

Do you be sure to hold the power and volume down button before and during the time you plug it in, until the pop up disappears?
Had something similar, but flashtool magically fixed it

I know it's a late reply, but my Z3c is rooted and running marshmellow. My phone would do the same thing, I thought it was bricked. After monkeying and monkeying it finally came back. The problem was I let the battery drain all the way to 0, and even while plugged in for a bit it didn't do anything. I think it liked it when I would plug it into my laptop instead of the power outlet. From then on, I haven't had the problem because I try to avoid the battery going completely dead.
Although the last time I did by accident, it did come back after plugging it in. My suggestion? Try plugging and charging it in your laptop and then turn on.

Z3+ dead after flashing with android 6.0

Hey everyone, I could't wait for the OTA update so I downloaded the stock Rom and flashed through Flashtool and now the phone is dead, can't turn it on, no led lights, I trying everything by reading other ancient threads about this with other devices but I was unsuccessful... I left it charging during the night but its the same. I managed to connect it via flash tool but it only says Device connected with USB debugging off and nothing more happens. Doesn't even vibrate with vol + or -
Anyone can help?
By the way, my bootloader is locked so this should't happen from what I've read
Did you tried to turn off device using Reset button located near sim tray?
u don't mention what variant u have, what ftf tried to flash, what happened when dead, what flashtool version are u using.....
Try to connect on fastboot mode or flashmode to see what really dead is your phone, if u can connect into flashmode just get another ftf and flash it

My variant is E6553
I had android 5.0.2 and I tried to flash this one I downloaded E6653_32.1.A.1.163_TH.ftf
I'm using the latest version of flash tool
I cannot connect on fast boot because When I unplug and press the vol + as mentioned by flashtool, nothing happens
However if I keep holding vol - for about 1 min flash tool recognizes the device Device connected with USB debugging off but from here I can't do nothing I guess.
I followed a web tutorial to flash, everything went ok, not any problems, flashtool said the flashing was successful, to unplug and turn on the phone, however when I tried to turn up the phone nothing happens, no led light, no vibration, is like dead...
When I flashed I had like 40% battery life
Now I left the phone connected to charger for about 12 hours and is still the same, no led

Are you absolutely sure you downloaded the E6553 FTF or the E6653? Because the E6653 is the Xperia Z5, not the Z3+

Yes, I flashed the correct one, the z5 is E6653 I think
I had the same but managed to reset using the button next to the SIM tray.
First of all I was freaking out because the sharp pencil I was trying which seemed to press it down did nothing. I then tried with a pin; this pushed the button in much further, I felt and buzz and then the phone worked again.
After charging overnight the phone seemed to be dead again, did the hard reset and it's been working since,
There do seem to be a few bugs with 6.0. Not entirely happy with it after such a long wait.

Do you exclude *.ta files when flashing?, U can't connect into flashmode, but it seems u're phone is not completely dead because is detected (not flashmode nor flastboot tho)....
Have u seen if PC comapnion detect the phone?.... I have no ideas it's kinda rare what happened
