Hello, so I have the ls991 lg g4 on the newest zvb update (update had auto installed overnight). Are there any possible ways to roll back? I'm wanting to get root on this phone but now it seems like it will be impossible.
No. Currently, there is no way to roll back if you have ZVB.
Dang :/
I feel your pain. I'm extremely disappointed with my LG G4 purchase. I'll be sure my next phone has an unlocked bootloader for sure.

I've heard the G2 is one of the few phones currently on Verizon capable of AOSP ROMs. Has that been corrected, as in are there any recent software updates that lock the bootloader or whatever? I just don't want to get it and find it locked down.
my d2vzw just died on me, so I'm gonna need to update fast. Thanks so much.
The newest update technically closed the loki bootloader hole. But the awesome devs here have figured out how to flash an older booloader to the new update. Giving you an open bootloader with KK. They also made a tool to do it to make it idiot proof. Even if your new G2 comes with KK loaded all you do is use iroot25 (to root) and then autorec (to flash the right bootloader / bootstack) and you are in business.

I'm going to buy the Flex, and trying to make sure I'll be able to root and run kitkat on it.
I've found this thread about upgrading to KK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2760805, but it says it'll remove the custom recovery, and all the rooting methods I've seen require JB. So... there's a catch 22 thing going on?

I have the d959, which is the t-mobile version. It's unlocked and running on at&t right now. It had kitkat on it when I got it. I think I used stump root to obtain root. After that I was able to use freedom flex to get my custom recovery up and running. It's a great phone. You won't regret it.
I don't own a LG g4 but my buddies does and he isn't experienced with rooting/unlocking phones and has a LG g4, and was saying "there was a root method but it got patched before he could try it."
If there is a way to do it could you please link me to it?
Thanks
Are you sure he wasn't referring to the ZV6 root? Currently you can't root anything above ZV6. If you have ZVA or earlier, you can use LGUP or whatever it's called to revert back to ZV6, then root.
If your phone is patched to ZVB, which is the current version, then you cannot root, and also you cannot roll back to ZVA to perform a root, and are stuck. The only option for ZVB is to install the mellowmallow ROM.
I was trying to update to 20o from 20i on my phone, and read around here that LG Bridge was the way to go, however when I try to check for update it states that it cannot verify the software version.
It is stock, with unlocked bootloader and rooted. Is it something to do with these criteria that is unable to check?

Is there an easier way to do this? I heard LG Up was mentioned a few times.
So as the title suggests, I lost my files, root, xposed, everything.
When I first got my phone it was on like ZV5 or something, whichever one you could dd an image after injecting root. This one came loaded with ZVC, so I'm unable to stay on the easily rooted version obviously. Am I basically stuck now? Or is there a way to root ZVB after rolling back (as I understand it, trying to roll back further results in hard brick) ?

You cannot downgrade past ZVB on the LS991. You can flash ZVB, but nothing earlier. ZVB and ZVC has anti-rollback, and if it sees anything older than ZVB it will brick.

... Yeah. That's not what I was asking. I know (as I said) that I can't roll back past ZVB. I was asking if ZVB can be rooted if I roll back to it, or if I'm stuck with unrooted ZVC because LG decided to update my phone without asking?

You cannot root your phone. There is no root for it on ZVB or ZVC.
