"I noticed something really interesting. Yesterday evening I was reading this thread and I tried to open the casing just to see what the antenna looks like. I managed to get one side open and was bending around a little but I couldn't open it fully. Did not want to break anything and sitting in a hotel room without any proper tools I popped it back again. Now, where I've been working this week the reception is so bad with my Qtek 9100 I actually brought my old Siemens S55 with me which I've been using all day. Switched back this evening and all of a sudden the reception is excellent (3 or 4 bars instead of none or 1) and has been for over 30 minutes now. I even tried calling it from another cell phone for a couple of minutes and the call wasn't dropped.
Is it possible that some bending and letting some air in actually did something? Maybe got rid of some corrosion, I don't know, I'm certainly no technician. However there is something substantially different from yesterday. Guesses anyone?"
Btw, it's now gone almost a day and reception is still excellent.

Either your guess was right or you just restored a good contact somehow.
But kevev offered a way to improve reception on the (supposedly) good device, not the malfunctioning one.
True, and I agree that my opening the casing and putting it back probably got rid of some corrosion. On the other hand I would not say that I have a malfunctioning device. My device is one year old and if it has corroded in that time I think it is likely that this is a common problem and could be the reason why many users experience bad reception. I'm thinking that the contact between the antenna and the springy thing was bad and for many people just opening the casing and cleaning the contact could improve reception greatly.
I don't think my reception has been bad ever since I bought it, but it has been really bad the last couple of months.... until now that is.
So i just traded my HTC Tilt 2 for a brand spankin new iPhone 3gs and I love it but the reception is just terrible. It just loses signal for no reason and it sometimes takes a minute to come back. It loves to drop calls and not send messages. This happens with both 3g and EDGE. I dont know if its the phone the hardware or the software. Off to Nashville (1.25 hrs away) to go to the apple store to get a new one. Has anyone else had this issue? Also the earpeice volume is very low. Maybe its because im used to the incredible sound my tp2 had. Good thing i have this applecare and everytihing is going to be free for 2 years.
Trade it for an HD2 and problem solved
Might not be the phone. I have notices crappy service from AT&T for the past few weeks. Drops calls when before I had 4 bars and was able to talk without a problem.
Are you holding it wrong?
Couldn't resist..
3gs deth grip? U got this new 8gb 3gs correct?

Yeah. Didn't read teh OP, but I think that the wedding ceremony was kinda bad too. I mean, no open bar? Prudes.
... wait this thread is from 2011? Are Apple still making 3GS'? It's probably just your network, I always hear about bad reception problems with iPhone's, but I've never had one problem ever with mine, on a carrier in Ireland who's not even supposed to have the phone lol.
We are in April and still no WiFi calling for the nexus 6.
Anyone have any updates on this?
No.
Yep , I'm still having to pop in a att Sim card to get service at my house. I loose service 6 miles out of my city limits with T-Mobile. I called customer care and got the same old run around ( ohh where so sorry about this and we are working to fix the issue) hate to say this cause I really do love my n6 but if I'd have to do it all over I would have gotten the note4 .. J.s

Yes, disappointed too as I need it to get reception inside buildings where I work. This is why buying a phone with a promise to add a feature "shortly after release", "in the near future", "with the next update", "early next year", "15Q1" and now "15Q2" is never a good idea.

I'm in the same boat. I have terrible T-Mo service at my home. Strange thing is before i upgraded i had good service with my LG G2 then one day that disappeared. I thought upgrading with fix this since motorola is well known for good radios. But still the same. BUMMED OUT DUDE!

They will send you one of those cell boosters for your home AND work. And im not talking about the router one.
I just got my nexus 6, two and a half weeks ago. I am coming from a Verizon galaxy nexus, so I'm pretty good at unlocking, rooting, installing roms, and the like. I bought it at best buy because I broke my gn, and being they are the only ones that had any in stock, and I need a phone or im lost, I was on vacation visiting family. So I got the none branded one called Verizon got it up in running in five minutes after the 20 min wait to talk to someone.
The first few days I played with it as is never had a problem. So I unlocked it, rooted it and still not any problems. Then a few days later I noticed the speaker would crackle not big thing just noticed it. After that though another weird thing started happening if I answered the phone then decided to use speaker phone i could not hear the other person and they could not hear me, and going back off speaker didn't help till we hung up and recalled.. It does not do it ever time just sometimes.. I had not installed a rom just kept it Google 5.1.1, I really like the new Android. But I did unrooted, relock, factory reset. Then did it all again. Still get some of the problems but not as much. This last problem really pist me off. I had been in 4 states and service from Verizon was great in all but one of them. The one that it didn't not work in was in Missouri not even when I got to Springfield. It was late at night so none of the ton Verizon stores I seen were open, I could dial but not have net service. I tried restarting phone even did a factory restore after trying everything I could think of. That reset screwed me though because it made it a useless since I had no net and was unable to set it back up.. Also I couldn't stop at the ton of Verizon stores in the morning bc they didn't open till later in the day and I needed to get home. The weird thing is almost as soon as I crossed into OK the phone loaded up and started working internet and all.
So my question is, is this normal with these phones? And is their any way to make the radio better? It was on global in that setting so I switched to USA. Still seems to work fine now at my house.
Any help or tips would be much appreciated. Or should I try and do a warranty through Motorola?
I really like this phone and its a major improvement over the gn since we at Verizon got skipped with nexus 5. This battery is a beast 12+hrs doing a crap load of stuff on it rocks

The speaker issue is definitely a known issue. RMA is the only solution.
Crap that really sucks. Thank you though for the reply. Do you know with the RMA if I have to send the phone back first and wait, or will they send a replacement first? Also do they replace with a new one or reman?
I was really hoping it was something in the settings

May luck out and get new but at this point in the cycle probably refurb. Have to send in first or have creditcard they can hit for what it worth now to send first. Credit hit will be deleted once they show it coming back.
My issue seems to pop up when LTE is in use. After using it, LTE will jus stop working for a couple minutes. Signal will still be there and LTE but won't work. Thinking about getting a replacement but I wanna see if any other Sprint users have had this problem

It doesn't load fast and stays in 3G status most of the time. Have 6 other lines on my account and not having problems with any of them... have been using my iPhone 7 plus most of the time due to issues... am using it now to type this comment...customer care tried fixing 4 times and 2 trips to corporate to fix... the 2nd trip to replace... still hav issues... not sure what the heck is wrong. Brand new minutes started today...so that's not an issue...I'm jus abt at a loss

So maybe it's a software issue. I'm hoping an update will fix it.

When connected to LTE it doesn't load fast like with ur note 8. But I'm not having the 3g issue. Still a problem though
After calling Sprint again today to look into this issue...they were baffled and could not figure it out so a ticket was created for Tech support to call me back in 5 - 7 business days.
I got off the phone and did some more trouble shooting on my own again. I starred at the phone for awhile and got a wild thought abt my lil plastic case I had on the phone...and sure enough thts wht it was. Just a plastic case with separate top an bottom peices tht was plastic to look like metal...and i do believe that thm 2 lil pieces on my case was interfering with the signal. I have the exact same case on my iPhone 7 Plus jus a different color and there is no interference at all. I took the case off and hav had the best signal...full bars and LTE ever since...All this time it was the case that was purchased from Sprints website. So I will be taking the case back because my phone is now completely naked lol and I need a new one. Problem solved!
............
not anymore

Well..... back again. Same issues. Pages load at a snail pace. LTE cute in n out. Downloads seem to be unaffected though. I did a speed test and got this result...
Just returned my Note 8 today before the 14 day period. Had multiple issues with network...and multiple calls with tech support.
No calls coming through, straight to vm...double texts. Getting a replacement in a couple days, hoping for much better experience.
Had issues before i put a case on it. Tech support did all the usual reset, reactivation, *720, 730, 740, multiple prl and profile updates. Figured it was only going to get worse. Didn't want to risk not being able to return. $35 restocking...oh well. Back to my trusty note 2 for a couple days
Sprint tech and manager tried to tell me that that practically the whole city had tower issues and that the phone was working as its supposed to. I use the phone for work, so reliability is important. Sprint store did everything in their power to prevent a return. Diagnostics run on some Windows 95 laptop was a joke.

Ssame here. Really annoying. I wanna keep the phone but these issues r really getting to me. My replacement was fine for the first week or so, then right back to the BS. Not sure if it is Cache issue or Wut. But it starting out fine then going to this is really odd. Also, I uninstalled all apps that i had recently installed and nothing

Tried to post of pic of download speeds but can't do it. I'm getting 108 mb down and 3mb up. Not sure wut the issue is with LTE but that is .ore than enough to do simple tasks like web browsing
I was able to get a better download speed from turning enhanced LTE on by using shortcut master lite and searching lte....the setting is
com.samsung.networkui.usa.EnhancedLteServices
Under mobile networks...
Just search EnhancedLteServices in shortcut master lite to enable and see if it helps you

Still the same but I have noticed something wierd.. So my LTE issues always come when I'm surfing the web in chrome or the Samsung browser, pages slow to load sometimes not loading at all. Blue bar jus moves like a snail. And if I go to another like youtube to watch a video it loads up jus fine. Odd...
