Hi guys, need some help.
Recently recevied my new mi5 64gb white and noticed, that GPS isnt working while im driving.
After some testing ive found an issue = quick charge charger.
GPS is working untill im connecting QC2.0 or QC3.0 charger, after that gps loses any signals from sattelites in 10-15 seconds. When i disconnect from charger it received signal from satellites.
Any ideas how to fix it? Tried different roms (ive on unlocked bootloader), different versions, everywhere is the same - gps loses signal if connected to QC charger. On regular 5v2A charger everything is working great.
Thanks
Solved, (fix: create new power management profile in settings)
Added a profile with GPS enabled that's it?
Nope it works a bit but very bad compare to w\o charger
No fix yet, I'm running unofficial CM13 but I assume its still broken on stock?
---------- Post added at 01:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:40 AM ----------
Still no fix for this yet?
Can anyone else confirm?

I fixed it with GPS Status and Toolbox from play store. I had issues with QC2.0 and thought it was cables bought new QC3.0 and type c cables. that didn't fix. give the GPS Status Toolbox a try

The Manage A-GPS seems to lockdown the GPS signal. I'm not exactly sure why it works but it worked for me.

Hello,
I'm having 9.5.1.0 (almost the latest stable) on my Mi5, and I'm experiencing that exact problem: when driving, I put phone in charge with my QC usb charger and GPS stops working, the moment I pull the cable it starts working again. I've tried to download GPS Status and Toolbox but I don't think I have solved the issue... Could anyone tell me step by step what to do?
Thanks!!

That's how it have always been for me. I think it's a hardware issue(charging chip messing up with the gps antenna when quick charging, both gps antenna and the charging chip is relatively close to each other). Don't really want to go through all the trouble of getting it repaired if it's even possible, just get a good 2.4A normal car charger and be done with it. Rofl

I have just got a Rikaline 6010 GPS unit, and make a cable that go's from the Ps/2 Connector to the XDA connector.. the GPS powers on, but Tomtom doesn't appear to be getting any data, on the GPS screen the little Satellite - - - PDA area is not showing any data being sent/received.
The PDA works fine, as I have it hooked up to my Digitraveler (Rikaline is for my dad)
I have tried selecting TomTom GPS Receiver, Rikaline 6010, NMEA 4800 from the GPS menu but none of them work
Rikaline have the Pinout in their manual: http://www.rikaline.com/download/GPS-6010-Manual-E.pdf
I have the RS232 TX & RX connected to Pin 8 & 10 on the XDA connector.
GND is on Pin 5 of the XDA connector, and +5 is taken from cigarette lighter.
Is this correct ?
Should I be using the TTL connections instead ? where would they go on the XDA ?
Many Thanks
Neil
Have you tried reversing the tx/rx connections, worth a try? How are you powering the gps?
GPS is being powered from ciggy lighter in the car, I've just made a PC cable and tried using some diagnostic software to read the raw data from the GPS and nothing
I think the unit may be knackered...
Well..... what do ya know! I thought what the hell.. i'll swap the data leads round and see if it makes any difference even though both cables were wired EXACTLY as is shown in the GPS manual. But IT WORKS!!
The unit can seem to hold a lock though, I will get one in about 20 secs if I unplug it and then plug back in, but after a minute or so it drops and never gets a lock again.
Could it be that the ciggy lighter (one supposed to be used to charge XDA) is not powerfull enough to do the XDA and GPS (the GPS doesn't appear to actually turn off when its losing the lock)
Cheers
Neil
Is it possible for you just to feed the gps with power using that adaptor? You could switch off power management on the xda temporarily so it stays on while experimenting.
Ok it doesn't appear to be a power thing, as the GPS does exactly the same thing when using my laptop, it will get a lock and hold the lock for exactly 2 minutes then the unit appears to power cycle as it loses all signal.
Certainly sounds like a component failure, can you return it or is it cannibalised?
Sent it back this afternoon, the unit has not been touched. Just made the XDA > Male PS/2 Connector, so hopefully it will work when the new one comes
ive also got the same uit and struggling to get it working i have tried to swapp the pins around too but nothing gps powers up and works fine but its not senidng data to the xda
looking at the datasheet i have connected the Rx RS-232 and Tx RS-232 to the pins 8 and 10 are they the right RX/TX's? as there are Rx TTL and Tx TTL too?
lmk cheers :\
----edit------------
works ok with only one cobination but it shows the dots going to the pda on the gps screen but it stops after about 4-6 little dots then doesnt do nothing
HEEELLLP!!!! lol dont tell me i brought yet another bluddy gps and it dont want to work with my xda
Hello guys,
I'm experiencing a problem which is NOT good.
I have netflix on my LG P990 and on my PS3. Somedays ago, I've noticed that netflix was kinda lag but only on P990. So I decided to check this out.
The problem has been found: When I connect a HDMI cable to my TV and to LG P990, the wi-fi connection speed drops a LOT. I've been testing with Solid Explorer to check the transfer rate.
With NO HDMI cable connected, I got around 1.5MB/s, at the exactly moment I plug the HDMI cable, it reduces to 200KB/s or less. Sometimes it stops the transfer.
Then, when I unpplug the cable, it starts to go faster again! I've already tested 3 different ROMs: MIUI, CM7 Official and NovaHD ICS (all with FULL wipe) and the problem has been detected on all of 3 ROMs.
Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? I really like Netflix, and would like to use it on my P990 on HDMI cable.
Thank you guys!
did you try another HDMI cable?
Not yet. I will try to get another cable with my cousin to check this out. BUT, I don't think it's the cable. Thanks for you answer.
May I suggest you try this on the official LG 2.3.4 rom too? With full wipe of course.
Could be a bandwidth issues but i think its probably a poor cable.
..
How did you get netflix working with nova hd? I've never managed to get it to work on current ics roms !

Yes, I did. Tested today and got the same problem. I tested with an original SonyEricsson's Micro HDMI cable from a Xperia, and got the same.
Already tested it on another TV with HDMI and got the same.

I don't know how to get it back (and I don't think it's good ideia to go back to Stock ROM, cause this ROM is really slow )
Are there any other options?

I'm pretty sure it's not a bandwith problem. I started a file transfer without HDMI cable connected and got 1.5~1.7MB/s. From the moment I connect the HDMI, after 3 seconds, It's already in 40KB/s and then I unplugged the cable, got 1.5~1.7MB/s again.

I don't have it on Nova HD. I mentioned nova HD beacause I used it to test HDMI on Wi-FI. I use it on MIUI (GB) or CM Gingerbread ROMs
Hey guys,
after some Google search and reading a LOT of stuff, just figured out how to solve or at least get a better wi-fi speed when HDMI is connected.
I've read something about router's configuration on wireless settings could be possibly wrong.
I just logged into my router and chaged the wireless channel from 7 to 1 and eureka! Got it now. Just watched a netflix video without lag and in HD.
Seems HDMI connection when on, still causes some interference on wi-fi, but it's MUCH better now.
Tested with some file transfers as well, and got almost the same speed as without the HDMI connected. Sometimes I get the same speed on both cases.
If I have enough time on these days, I'll test with different channels.
Ps.: Channel 1 worked for me but maybe it's just on my case. Possibly you will have to check different channels on your network.
It's p990 hardware problem
if you plugged HDMI cable and connected to TV, WiFi speed drops very low almost zero
but sometime it works just fine, most of time not,
confirmed this on stock rom and CM7
using CM10 now, haven't tried yet, I think it would be the same.
I only very recently got my Nexus 6 (Loving it so far), so I decided to pick up a Tylt Wireless Charger on a black friday sale to take advantage of it's wireless charging capabilities. I set up Smartlock when I got the phone and I returned to the settings to see if I could set up my wireless charger as a trusted device with the trusted NFC devices. I tried messing around with it for like 10 minutes and spent some time doing research but I can't seem to get it to work and I'm beginning to think it's just not possible. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get this to work, or to let me know it actually isn't possible, please let me know. Thanks in advance

I know that with my LG G3, it disables NFC when my phone is connected to my wireless charger (not a Tylt), so I would assume something similar happens with the N6. Plus the Tylt doesn't have NFC capabilities from documentation I've seen, so that is why it isn't possible.
I do not think wireless chargers are bluetooth or nfc devices -- "wireless" refers to charging without a cable attached to the phone.
I have old OBD2 v1.5 adapter. Chinese, big one. Which pairs with HU and works well.
I wish to buy new one, that call 'mini'. I know I have to look for v1.5 (as 2.1 is a crap) and with PIC18F25K80 chip.
But I read that even much of these new mini are PIC based, that have some strange Mac address like AA:BB:CC:11:22:33.
Anyone has experience with such adapters? Do they pair and work with Torque on our HUs?
If anyone is using such an 'mini' adapter, please post link to eBay/AliExpress where you purchased it. Will be very grateful (and it may help other people here, too, as many have issues pairing/using crap adapters).
I personally bought https://www.ebay.com/itm/Auto-16-Pi...le-Diagnostic-Adapter-For-elm327/152700822059 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/2017-ELM32...uto-Car-Scanner-Scan-Tool-Cable-/112070132071 so I connected it over USB and only thing I've made is HW MOD to get ACC+ instead BAT+ from OBD2 so that it is powered only when Key is turned on.
Resolved pairing issue with no pairing and all works along with BT and WiFi free for other devices.

Thank you for sharing. I was not considering USB option, but it sounds interesting.
I see you both the 'big' one (same as my old one). And they really work very good.
But I would like to buy some of 'mini' models as my OBD2 port is in such place (under steering wheel and just above brake pedal) that big one is too big and my feet is hitting it while driving. Here is obe model I consider
Hardware V1.5 Chip PIC18F25K80 ELM327 Bluetooth V1.5 Auto Code Reader Super MINI ELM 327 Works ON Android Symbian FW V1.5 BEST
http://s.aliexpress.com/I3i26fy2
There are 2 models of these (not colours): old design with 2 PCB boards, and new one with just 1 board. I wonder if anyone has any of these?

:silly: I do not see the problem there as if you checked both links from my post you would see that I use extension cable that do not have issue with connector position. Mine is located right above gas pedal so I could not drive car normally with any OBD Adapter unless I used extension cable.

PIC is programmed micro controller and not actual ELM327 see https://www.elmelectronics.com/products/ics/obd/ and v1.5 nor v2.1 exist officially as they are clones and you should use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.applagapp.elm327identifier to test actual model and support.
Re which one: I ordered 6 different models and kept two that worked flawlessly with my car 1 was broken (got refund) and resold other 3 to get my money back.

It is fairly simple MOD:
1. Soldered positive wire of lighter connector that have power only when Ignition is turned on.
2. Bought FLAT cable that I can easily cut the wires like in picture s-l1600.jpg
3. Cut Wire on pin 16 BAT power see ODBII%20Master%20Pinout.jpg
4. Connected wire that goes to OBDII to Positive wire I prepared in step 1
5. Connected OBDII to connector from FLAT CABLE
6. Connected USB to HU SINGLE USB CABLE
7. Tested if all works with Toque
8. Used cable ties to secure all cabling behind dashboard
and now I enjoy the all the diags on HU

Thanks for this info, very helpful, just got Android 8 Eonon 2170, and I've been struggling to pair OBD, Kiwi 3 doesn't show (BLE not supported? Don't know), Tomtom unit won't pair, no name unit seems to work, but, I've thought, why not USB, started searching for USB Android supported, luckily came across your post.
To change BATT to ACC, is that just so it's ' done properly'?
Surely battery drain would be miniscule, or not? I guess makes sense to have it not powered all the time.
Going by your posts, so, some of these units didn't work properly,ECU side or Android side? Thanks again, A
I just looked into factory settings, there is a CANBUS section, currently set to NONE, should that that altered to car maker's CANBUS ?

It is not the problem that it drains a ot but all small drains can pile up so eventually you have a problem. I have park mode security enabled on my dashcam system so it drains some, OBDII can drain a littl, but it is known that in some cases keeps ECU awake that can drain a lot due teh number of sensors it keeps awake also

All was ECU side due the different pinouts see my pics, I have seen in the past several USB -> COM chips that are not supported on Android due the OEM build and specific drivers like some factory that are not recognized on laptop till you install their licensed software (Usually JUNGO Based Drivers).

Only if you got specific cables with canbus decoder (black little box). even then USB OBDII is used to diagnostic and clear codes. I use Toque 1.83 and it works on one unit that v1.52 didn't worked with. Usually ELM v1.5 works better than v2.1
thanks! I have now got USB OBD unit 1.5 (still need splitter/extender), tried yesterday with Torque as well as with Palmer's DashCommand:
it kinda worked - during first trip, 45min, Torque app crashed twice or more, worked after restart, on return trip, DashCommand also choked once or twice, thenm I relaized, as fuel tank level is not reported, unless I run app 100% of the time, fuel consumption won't be correct - and, realsiticall, I need TomTom on the screen more than gauges....
I see there are OBD spliters that 'allow' two or three OBD devices plugged in, wouldn't you know, is it OK to split/use multiple OBDs ?
like, I have TomTom 'Curfer' OBD data logger - just logs 'quality of driving", thoiught to get splitter to log data, AND, if so desire, call gauges on screen ?
thanks for explaing CANBUS!
do you use TPMS tyre pressure units, if so, which ones ? my radio has an app to read such, wonder if it's worth it ?
I have connected my USB OBD. Torque not recognised device. How to check that Scanner is properly installed on android system?
OBD scanner is generic just like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ELM327-USB-Interface-Diagnostic-Scanner/dp/B00IWLLX1Y
BTW I have MTCE with android 8.0 with KLD MCU.
Torque lite ain't work with android/usb, only in bluetooth mode.
I have torque pro so there is no problem there.
Any way problem solved. Bought Bluetooth version.
As the title states, wireless charging suddenly stopped working, I am using the Xiaomi 80W wireless charging stand (came bundled with the phone). The stand itself still works (tested it on my wireless earbuds) and i tried the reverse wireless charging on the phone and it also still works which is why I am so perplexed.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue before? I hope its a software bug of some sorts as this phone already broke down twice for me (first the wifi module and then the camera module) and I don't feel like sending it to be repaired a third time.
Help would be highly appreciated.
I had this problem once with my Mi 11 and found it to be a software problem after reinstalling the ROM it worked but unfortunately after that the WiFi module died on me and I sent it for repair ( the phone was 2 year's old), they couldn't repair as they didn't have the parts so they replaced the phone with the Xiaomi 12 free of charge as the problem with the WiFi chip is a manufacturing fault.
