Android 6.0.1 G920AUCU3CPC2 AT&T Flashing Instructions - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6

Moving this to it's own thread so it's easier to follow the discussion.
Special thanks to s629c for finding the dialer code that led to the download link and Dante087 for finding the download link.
Generic instructions for sideloading OTA package:
Flashing via this method WILL WIPE EVERYTHING SO BACKUP FIRST. Short tutorial (I'm not responsible for anything that goes wrong, but this worked for me):
1) BACKUP
2) Download package (see links farther down in post)
4) Reboot into recovery. Turn off phone and wait a minute for it to completely turn off. Hold down Volume Up + Home + Power until you see a little Android guy. It will say Applying System Update or something like that possibly, and just let it do it's thing until a menu comes up.
5) Select Apply Update from ADB
6) Make sure you have Android Platform Tools on your computer (there's other guides for this)
7) command 'adb sideload <path to downloaded file here>'
8) Wait patiently
9) Phone reboots and will hang at AT&T logo for 5+ minutes. Just wait this out

It probably means either the phone isn't connected or isn't accepting sideload.
Try the command 'adb devices' and post your output from that command.

How to install ADB-
http://lifehacker.com/the-easiest-way-to-install-androids-adb-and-fastboot-to-1586992378
Sideloading-
When sideloading in adb, type in "adb sideload [path to ota.zip]" (without quotes, example of filepath on windows c:\users\account\desktop\ota.zip)
Possible Errors when attempting-
Didnt type filepath and just put ota.zip
encrypted: decrypt before updating

Yep, looks like they locked it down
Is someone able to upload to Mega or another service? I won't be able to for a couple hours.
It really is amazing though how quickly AT&T was able to "test" locking down that website though

Doing so now

The link in the OP is incorrect, it has the ellipses (...) indicating it must have been copy/pasted from the original post rather than copy/pasted from the link itself. Correct link should be in the original post in the other thread.

Ah good catch. Fail on my part. I updated the OP. Guess AT&T hasn't locked it down yet.

I'm getting a * cannot read update.zip * error. Whats the solution to this? I am using the correct path and have downloaded the update twice now.

I have the same problem When I was trying to solve this porblem, my phone was in update mode, it factory reset itself! So I need to find a way to fix this problem to get the MM at least

Uploaded the file in case AT&T blocks it - http://www.filedropper.com/ota

Some people were reporting that in the other thread. I think the solution was different path (put it directly in C:/), different cable, different USB port, or different computer.

If I remember correctly, another common error also is spaces in the path to the filename.
I think then you have to put the path and file in quotes like "C:\path with spaces\update.zip"

Pay attention to your phone, when you give the command "adb shell", if Superuser/SuperSU don't ask permition.
Its just a idea...

Looks like the path to your SD card is different to mine. Try replacing /mnt/sdcard/ in the original command with /sdcard/ , ie:
Code:
su
cat /sdcard/recovery-6028.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
sync
Code:
su
cat /sdcard/unsecure-boot-mmcblk0p2.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p2
sync
Also no need to get aggravated, none of us are being rewarded for helping you here but we're trying to help anyway...
*edit*
ooops didn't look at all the screenshots. The last one shows your SD card path actually is indeed the same as mine. I'm all out of ideas then.

Where the hell did you found that path /mnt/sdcard/....... ???
Tutorial CWM
Dude forget what they say everyone tells different way, read here what i writeto you and make the steps like me.
1. Unlock Bootloader and get SU Permissions
2. Go to PlayStore download SuperSU and than start give permisions to it to update Binary , than go to Setting in SuperSU and install in System
3. Reboot Phone
4. Copy the 2 IMG data to root from SD and rename recovery-6028.img > recovery.img & unsecure-boot-mmcblk0p2.img > boot.img
this to IMG data must be unpacked from RAR(Zip) from Dexter.
5. make sure you have Unknow Sources and USB Debug Active , and also make sure that Superuser is replaced by SuperSU after reboot
6. Go to PlayStore and Download Android Terminal Emulator
and give in Terminal
Type "su" without quotes and than accept the permissions from SuperSU after that give in
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
cat /mnt/sdcard/recovery.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
sync
IF YOU USE UNSECURE BOOT tha use this
su
cat /mnt/sdcard/boot.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p2
sync
Hope it helps and youv got it run

It's in the system root for me, it's a symlink. Though it didn't work for me in the cat command, which is why I suggested using /storage/external_SD/ instead which did work for me. It looks like the OP has the files in the right places, and the hash in the command line screenshot implies that SU is working correctly, so I'm all out of ideas now.

Remove micro sd from the phone.
Stick to the guide, pay atention to the phone screen behavior soo, keep the screen always on, in case of SuperSU ask for permition...
Dexter_nlb said:

GUIDE:
1. when you are running unlocked bootloader and is rooted goto step 2.
2. download attached zip files and extract content to internal sdcard location
3. use adb shell or terminal from market and execute the commands below
4. you are now running with native CWM recovery and unsecure boot, which enable adb root at boot instantly.
5. boot into recovery, by rebooting device and hold VOL-DOWN during bootup. (from power-off = keep holding vol-down during power on)
execute these 3 commands for recovery image install
Code:
su
cat /mnt/sdcard/recovery-6028.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
sync
execute these 3 commands for unsecure boot image install
Code:
su
cat /mnt/sdcard/unsecure-boot-mmcblk0p2.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p2
sync
or see screenshot here
do this at your own risk, and do NOT try this on old 4.0.3, which is not with unlocked bootloader, and you are required to install KDZ again.
THANKS to:
skydev - for his continued effort in finding root and giving our device full freedom with boot/recovery.

[Q] adb returning "error: closed"

Hi,
I'm currently trying to use adb to push some data into my phone but i always get "error: closed". I'm using windows 7 x64 and im running it from cmd.
Almost everything i tried using adb (push, shell, remount) returns this. I've searched over the forums and tried "adb devices" as well to see if my phone is connected, but what is different from the others is i am getting
List of devices attached
XXXXXX host
instead of what most other people got
List of devices attached
XXXXXX device
Is this a problem? What am i missing? Thanks a lot for ur time in reading this

I haven't tried rebooting the device seems to be the only thing I left out.
I was having the same problems. Couldn't sideload. When I would run "adb devices" , my device would be listed. If I ran "adb usb" I would get "error: closed" . The sideload command would just bring up a list of commands. This may help someone, I installed a new version of adb. Not sure if I can post links but the file name was adb-setup-1.1.exe. This installs the needed files, the installer didn't notify me where the files were installed but they installed right to my C:\ drive. This seemed to eliminate the problem for me. I did a lot of searching and couldn't find anyone with this specific issue, so if anyone finds themselves with this problem give this a try.

Perfect - worked for me - exact same issue - adb wasnt recognising my phone was in sideload and sideload command wouldnt work but push would - plus getting error closed message on adb usb command. Googled the above adb file, downloaded, 15 second install and now sideloading is working on my SG2 with CWM recovery 6.0.2.9 (kitkat). I was obviously using an outdated ADB driver (1.0.29).
Thanks a lot KoolAidBigMan !! Big up...

EDIT : Spoke too soon - now getting another error when trying to sideload.. will google it.. failed to write data 'protocol fault (no status)'

I'm having the same problem. I can't boot into OS to turn on debugging or anything and the phone only loads to the oneplus loading screen.
If you are getting the "cannot read" error when sideloading in adb, you can try this handy tool call Large Address Aware (LAA). I was having the same problem on my Win10 Home 64bit system and managed to solve it using LAA.
Just download and unzip LAA to any folder. Run it and modify the adb.exe file. Now try sideloading and the "cannot read" error will be gone. Good luck.

Good luck.

Have you tried unlocking bootloader? That's probly most important. If it's locked there is no point tying

Okay if anything works out when you try let me know
The bootloader can be opened in developer mode for this devise if I'm correct
You can unlock bootloader in developer options but from there. I'm stuck and really want to get root and see what "deleted" files I can recover from a factory reset. Anybody ever try twrp for same chipset like someone was talking about doing?

[Update Anyone?]
I picked up a Coolpad 3632a yesterday and I've been trying to ROOT it for quite a while nowl; trying Kingroot v5.3.7 without PC, and KingRoot 3.5 on PC both failed to ROOT. I've been out of the loop for quite a while regarding Android devices and OS - the last Android Phone i owned was the LG G3 if i remember correctly. According to the available info I've found searching for Rooting Options for the coolpad 3632a it all seemed almost %100 easily rootable with or without PC mainly using Kingroot.
If anyone was successful in rooting this device (Coolpad 3632a / Android 7.1.1) - please let me know, my main goal is to find a good custom ROM and load it replacing the Bloat/Malware filled phone!
Thanks again to anyone who has taken the time to read and respond with any news (good or bad) on getting this device successfully rooted.

Bootloader Unlock = Not happening on this device. At least yet.
Development = Absolutely none. Means no TWRP/ROMS etc.
Root = Nothing as of 10/10/2018.

Yeah that's already what I tried previous to your post. Had zero luck. =/ Also after that point forward for some reason when i try to fastboot i cannot issue any commands and it displays "Secure Phone" at the bottom left of the screen. Whether or not it was due to this I do not know for certain.

Does fastboot detect your device ? Or just the commands fail even after detection ?
Also , when your phone boots , does MTKlogger automatically start ?

It gets detected just the commands fail. There is a white "Secure Phone" line of text across the bottom left. Im going to try loading an sdcard to see if it will auto update anything.
I can't even use Flash Programmer in QFIL or many other apps in QDLOADER 9008 mode. I know the firehose is the correct one yet it never wants to boot. I don't know why.
MTKLogger might have before unless i'm thinking of a different handset here. But as of the moment it doesn't.
No luck with the sdcard. I think it's about time to factory reset this device and put it up for sale. I'll post the firmware here shortly.
Here is the firmware - https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/rom-coolpad-defiant-3632a-stock-t3855692

Emulator-5554 error in fastboot

Im trying to install a fresh ROM and keep getting an error.
What am I missing? any insight is greatly appreciated.
ThANKS IN ADVANCE
I don't know if any of these will work but here are some things you can try:
1) Make sure you are on the latest sdk. I think latest is 30.0.4. Looks like you're using v30.0.0?
2) Try using adb -s ### sideload ***.zip. The ### is the the device id you get from adb devices. -s directs the command towards your phone instead of the offline emulator.
3) Try running adb sideload from the path where the zip is located rather than using quotes to include the entire long path. In other words: adb sideload Aosip***.zip. You may have to add the path to platform tools into your environment variables or include the path to adb in the command.

but i have no problem flashing the boot.img vis bootloader.
Thanks for the response.

I don't think you're supposed to sideload a boot.img. usually the rom zips will install them as part of the install process

My bad, I worded that wrong it only happens once in the custom recovery and try to ADB sideload the rom, i get that error.
Fastboot boot.img via bootloader works fine.
My trouble starts one in custom recovery and it shows "emulator-5554". Please see attachment.
Thanks

The computer is telling you what the error is. In fact adb tried to flash the ROM twice two different ways and still displayed the same error. "More than one device/emulator". The connection fails because you have another device/emulator/something connected to your computer that adb recognizes. Adb states that too. Adb will not flash to more than one device so you have to find what that thing is. Try removing things you have connected to your computer or the emulator, whatever it is, because we don't know. Or try what the other guy said, specifically method #2. You never replied wether or not you tried that specifically. That could work. One other thing, are you in the custom recovery selecting "apply update from adb/whatever it is" and trying to sideload it? Otherwise make sure to update the sdk too because we don't know if you actually tried that either.

Thanks for clearing that up.
The only other thing connected it the cordless mouse reciever.
I also did update sdk platform. as shown in the attached. Yes i am trying to apply update from adb and then sideload command I also tried typing the specific file name instead of the whole path.
It only happens in adb mode. Flashing via fastboot works fine with no emulator error.
Ive been flashing for months using the standard adb method with no hiccups. Now im getting this error
SOLVED
I found it!! It was a game my kids downloaded that had a built emulator that causing the hiccup! Back to gold, thanks guys!!:good::highfive:
