[Q] Before selling your Note

Hi guys, i am thinking to sell my Note.. to buy a Note 2.
Considering how many infos and confidential datas are stored inside it, what is the best way to completeley clean it?
thank you very much.
You will have to give us a bit more info... are you on a custom ROM, kernel, do you have root?
i've just flashed 4.1.2 N7000XXLSO, kernel says 3.0.31-906407, so i have an original samsung ROM.
phone should be rooted... but after i flashed the new rom it is no more.
Best you could do in your current situation is do a factory reset through the settings and format the memory. If you had a different kernel then you could also wipe the system, preload etc. and then reflash just in case anything was left there...
thank you!
but do you think it is possible to restore datas from memory even after you format it? shouldn't it be better to fullfill the memory with huge files (movies, for instance) and then delete them?
Seems like you can't handle modern tech.
Just burn your phone. The only way the data can't be recovered.

Fine. Then connect your note to a PC in mass storage mode. Shred each file you can see. Put in movies so that the card is full and shred again. Alternatively, use a shredder which overwrites all the data with zeroes. Use Google for whichever/whatever you are not understanding...

i know i can't handle modern tech, but isn't this forum made also to help stupid idiots like me?
flash a new rom .. or flash the old ginger bread stock rom so its gonna be super stock . Its like you didnt even use it .

No. This forum is to develop new things. We help people because it doesn't cost us anything
I suggest you to format factory inside the system itself, and then flash a stock ROM via Odin. This should not only delete all your info but also get it back to the way it left the store when you bought it!
On a side note (no puns intended), do you really think it's worth the upgrade for the note 2 right now? I mean, Note 3 will be out soon...

ok, so.. i am sorry for my trivial question, and thanks for your reply.
about Note 3, you are right, but i don't want to spend too much, if i sell now my Note for a Note 2 it will cost me about 150€.. for a Note 3 i suppose it would be 3 times this number
Not a good idea

To answer your question first. Simply do a wipe data factory reset and clear cache memory. keep your memory card with u and flash a rom on the cell. everything will be clear.
In my opinion you should wait till the note 3 comes out. The price of note 2 will fall and by the time HTC will come with somethg new and competition will rise. patience pays

Yep, in the browser, it shows that wallpaper on most screens.
if watermark only shows up in browser, proved that your phone is ok at least, problem is the browser,is it the original one in Samsung firmware?if so,maybe try to clean up the data of the app in setting or delete it and reinstall one?

I already told that it is shown on most of the screens. Visible even in download mode/gallery/etc..
And, yes it is the original firmware.

That‘s very interesting, i guess it has nothing to do with wallpaper.
Probably issue caused by the screen, like some kind of deja vu
the photo looks like some kind of picture displaying by the phone when placed in market for selling
could it be memories of the screen?confused
Better contact with service center,This is not flashed-solved problem.

But, if it is screen burn then why'd it show a perfect S3 with Samsung Galaxy SIII 4G written, with the quote etc.
And, I've 2 S3's with same problem.

Factory reset or and flash stock rom would be the first fix .
Problem across three devices is usually user error or its a fake .Its a bit like what is shown on the Demo shop model .
You need return phone to the vendor or take to a service centre .

Did you bought it used? If so, you've got screwed.

"unfortunately, camera has stopped!" error

I have this error once in a while, I just bought my note 4 last March! I have to restart my phone in order for it to work. It just happened lately. Any solutions?
What rom and kernel?
---------- Post added at 09:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 AM ----------
Most likely try wiping data under application settings in camera app. That should do it.

Its not rooted. Orig tmo stock.
How do I do it?
From a different thread:
Just go to:
- settings
- application manager
- scroll to "ALL"
- find "CAMERA"
- click on CLEAR CACHE and CLEAR DATA
-click OKAY despite the warnings (TRUST ME)
-restart your phone
Now check your camera again (crossing my fingers for you)
If that doesn't work the next step would be a factory reset.
Then if factory reset doesnt work. You need to call t mobile and have them warranty ot out.
Thanks guys

It worked for 2 days. Now when I opened my camera, its just black, no error message , cant take pix/vids. I clear the cache but still the same. I tried google camera ? but wont open either.
If it happened again will do factory reset.

Dude. Take it back . My camera NEVER acted like that when I first got it. Even with custom roms. That will certainly not help your situation considering this seems to be a hardware problem. Did you drop your device?

I bought it around March 9 2015, so the 14day return warranty is over. How is the warranty for Tmobile works? I didn't dropped it.

It's not months old like mine is. Just demand a new phone. If your doing payments. Why keep paying for something that isn't working properly? Is the sellers responsibility. Especially because of the "contract "

Gifs not playing

Is anyone else's Note 8 having an issue where all gifs are being converted to jpg. Anytime someone sends me a live message who also have notes or a gif my phone downloads it as a jpg.
Me and my wife were in a group thread and her Verizon variant Note 8 downloaded it as a gif. My phone which is the Unlocked Variant downloaded the file as a jpg and it did not play. But anything I send, sends as gifs. Its just things I receive.

If you send the live message as an email attachment, does it arrive and play as a .gif ? Does it play as a .gif in other apps like Whatsapp?

That's interesting. It points more towards either a setting in your SMS messaging app or something to do with your carrier. Do you have a size limit in MMS settings maybe?

There wouldn't be, as far as I can remember it's limited by the carrier. I'd think big red was messing with you but a LOT of people are getting their phones today so I guess we will know for sure tonight or tomorrow.

wtff why they messing with us because we got the unlocked phone? That should be illegal. The OP said his wife has verizon version and works. This is not good ! Brand new phone can't have a 2017 text conversation? This is unacceptable. Do we go to samsung or Verizon for this issue?

Just tested my unlocked version on Sprint by having my wife text a gif from her S8+ and it plays...it does not auto repeat for every gif...but it plays all...
Try clearing the data and cache of the messaging app if you have not already done so...
If it helps...I did a factory reset when I received my device just in case of issues....
I am having the same issue with my Unlocked variant on Verizon. I even send myself a live drawing and it doesn't work upon receiving it. Oh no! My s4 was ok with gifs... come on. I haven't installed all my apps yet and I don't want to factory reset right after they're installed, but I guess I'll have to.
Already tried deleting cache and data for messaging, no go.

I had to reset to get Samsung Pay to work...something is always off with the shipped state of software...
Unfortunately, a factory reset did not fix it. I also can't attach a gif from the GBoard app. Boo, thought having android 7.1 would be nice for GIFs and messaging, but so far not on an unlocked Note 8 on Verizon...
