I have the chance to get a new AT&T Moto X for a great price. I'm on T-Mobile, though, and use their WiFi calling. Is it possible to root and install a T-Mobile ROM onto the AT&T Moto X?
Thanks.

Can you flash the TMO ROM on an ATT Moto X using RSDLite/fastboot commands without having to unlock the bootloader?

But afaik, the ATT XT1058's bootloader cannot be unlocked. So how did @flashallthetime install the TMO ROM on his ATT XT1058 without unlocking the bootloader?

Not sure. He is in Canada so I assume he has a Rogers XT1058(same hardware as the AT&T phone) and unlocked his bootloader.
I believe there are flashable zips that can be used with a rooted phone, however the process isn't as simple as flashing the full image with rsdlite.

Let's clarify things,
1) my bootloader is unlocked because I have a Rogers variant
2) flashing touched Roms through twrp recovery only, yes flashing flashable 1053 roms
3) I have never attempted to rsdlite any firmware other than rogers firmware
Is this clear enough, I do not want anyone to brick there phone, had 3 soft bricks to this point myself, its a frigging pain in the butt and yes they all involved flashing Roms. The moto is a great phone but its also very finicky
My suggestion is wait for your carriers firmware to be available and rsdlite it.
Yesterday I again had a soft brick just from restoring a nandroid, so I rsdlite back to the pre camera firmware, I had it downloaded already. I then accepted the new camera ota and everything went fine until I tried to flash twrp recovery, it wouldn't flash, so I tried to rsdlite back to the pre camera firmware, no go. It seems that I can't downgrade from an ota even with a unlocked boot loader
Edit: patience, obviously we are all going to receive kitkat soon enough and I believe AT&T is next up, US carriers first and then all other carriers.
Trust me I want kitkat too but not willing to jump through and dig a frigging hole I can't get out of

Use rsdlite, should work fine but I have flashed both and getting slightly better battery life with the at&t version, also it seems faster, no lock screen lag where on the T-Mobile version I had a lag unlocking my device. The T-Mobile version has no bloatware

So how can he flash the T-Mobile ROM on an AT&T phone if he cannot unlock the bootloader??

That's a different story then. You need to request the sim unlock code from at&t and hope they give it to you. Tell them you're travelling and u need to use it abroad
There might also be 3rd party services on ebay that would offer sim unlocking ur phone for a fee, but i'm not sure if it's available for the Moto X.

The unlock works 100%. If you don't see "SIMLock enabled" than it was successful. Probably the phone doesn't support your phone's frequencies. Don't jump directly to the last solution, read the thread thouroughly

Ive been doing the process over and over again and simlock is still visible on the secret menu .... Elvis ive followed your guide perfectly i even know all the steps by memory ...if it helps here is the htc one imei 990001460590706
Please heeelp me
Delete your IMEI please, it's not wise showing it to everybody. If you did get s-off and than downgraded, did you root your phone and than tried the "Sprint HTC One SIM unlock helper" app? What did the app say? I'm sure you didn't do some steps otherwise your phone would be unlocked. Hundreds of people have unlocked their phone this way. If the "SIMLock" message doesn't go away you probably don't have a sprint one
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
The Sprint HTC one has blocked the carrier id's for domestic use aka att etc.. You can however if your s-off you can flash the initial release radio the first radio when the Sprint HTC was released and it will allow you to connect to domestic carriers. Here is the first radio released http://d-h.st/HHD I can pick up T-Mobile and att using the initial release radio, it is the only radio I could get to pick up signal with. The radio may be the reason your thinking that its not working, With any other radio you will get no signal and no networks avail. Your probably unlocked if you followed what elvisypi said, your just using the wrong radio. I would try flashing that radio and see what happens, I am in Ohio so i am using domestic carriers. Also make sure there bands in your area are covered.
If someone has a T-Mobile carrier unlocked moto x can they unlock the boot loader (T-Mobile let's you) and then use it on att without any I issues?

You don't have to unlock the bootloader to use it on att. Unlocking the bootloader just give you options for a custom recovery and flashing roms, etc.
The unlocked version is just that. You can put any gsm Sim card you want in it and it will work. LTE will vary according to the carrier you put it on with regards to frequencies used.

Yeah, I wanted to know if could also unlock the boot loader because the att model is unlockable. But a T-Mobile can have an unlocked bootloader and if it is unlocked carrier as well then you could have a non developer custom moto x with unlocked boot loader on att. Just curious if it us possible.
To answer your question: yes, you can unlock the bootloader. Doing so will void your warranty unless you buy the developer edition though.

Hi, I got an AT&T XT1058 from ebay. I'm in teh UK so I'd really like to flash it with a stock UK ROM. I've had a look on here and with the huge amount of info I can't figure out if this is possible and which rom to use. it's 4.4.2 that's on the phone at teh moment which i believe can't be downgraded or unlocked easily, is that right?
any help would be greatly appreciated
cheers
To flash any Rom besides the Stock, Signed Moto ROM for your carrier and model X, you need to unlock the bootloader.
While Moto doesn't give out the Bootloader Unlock Code for the ATT USA XT1058, since you have 4.4.2 on it still, you should be able to use Sunshine to unlock the bootloader. (NOTE: please boot into fastboot/bootloader on the phone, and verify the version on the 2nd line is 30.B4 which is correct for 4.4.2).
Once you use sunshine, you can flash 3rd party recoveries, roms, etc.
While I have NOT done it, I've seen posts of ATT US Xt1058 owners flashing with Parts of the XT1053 rom to remove bloat, etc. (flashing the modems will likely change which wireless bands the phone can connect to). I do not advise flashing another carrier's rom. It could get messy, especially around UPDATE time. And I've seen some lose Cellular and WIFI flashing the wrong modem files.
One final thing. The ATT US XT1058 is SIM/Carrier locked too. So in order to use a non-ATT SIM in it you'll need to obtain a SIM unlock code. You should be able to get this from any web site selling unlock codes on the internet.

To unlock the bootloader on the ATT XT1058 Moto X, there are only two possible ways..
The China Middleman thread (in the general section), although he only has codes for certain date range of phones (depends on the Assembly Date of your phone), BUT he has recently stopped responding again. There is no telling if/when it will start up again
Sunshine, which doesn't work with 4.4.4. However you can always try it since it wont charge you if it doesn't work. (i.e. it checks your phone, if it will work, if wont, it tells you and exits without charging you).
4.4.4 can't be temp rooted either.
So you are pretty much stuck stock ATT, and then just get it sim unlocked to use it with your carrier.

For the Rogers XT1058, Moto does offer the Bootloader Unlock code for free from their web site -> https://motorola-global-portal.cust...e/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a/action/auth it will void your warranty
The GSM Dev Edtion is the XT1053. It has different radio/modem files, its hardware supports different bands (less LTE bands). I never recommend flashing another model's ROM as we have seen loss of cellular in some cases, where even flashing the original firmware back didn't fix.
Once you unlock your bootloader and root, you can remove and freeze any bloat on the phone (freezing is preferred because the next OTA might require it to be there).

Also, without unlocking the boot loader, you can only flash the rom for your phone model and its carrier branding.

I recently purchased the G920T factory unlocked version on eBay, is it safe to Odin any T-Mobile stock firmware, any info will be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Once you above a certain firmware you can't go back. What firmware you currently on?

i have this same question because from what ive read 3COK1 is for Cellular South (aka C Spire). while the 3DOJC is for Tmobile, both under the G920t firmware. are you also on tmobile network with this phone?

Are you getting LTE on it.
So I flashed the C Spire firmware and it asked for an unlock code. I flashed back to the original tmobile firmware and it is still locked although it was unlocked before, but the device unlock app says its ineligible for unlock now.
Anybody else encountered this?

I'd advise that you dont.
To unlock it I had to flash back to the original tmobile rom. From the tmobile rom, the device unlock app failed in different ways.
After i called tmobile over and over I got it unlocked (like 2 hours of calling).
Hurts my heart to see all the tmobile bloat, especially when i dont even live in the US, but at least my phone works
