su for remix not working and its diag mode (read cdma/qpst)

I know there is not much support for the remix, though it's essentially a mini 2...too. I have it s-off and unlocked. I have twrp recovery on it. The all in one utility on one of these threads didn't work well for twrp so I flashed it via fast boot. I've tried running the utility for gaining root but nothing shows up in twrp under sdcard. I have pushed it to another folder, I find it and flash the zip file but even though it says it finished fine, when I reboot nothing is there. Weak sauce2 works fine, but that's just temp. I want permanent root.
That said anyone know how to enable serial/modem communication to cdma/qpst on the remix? I've been trying forever. Im trying to backup the prl.

I had the same issue today and was able to chat with the creators of Sunshine. They are super helpful and offer great support for their product. It took me a few tries but I have root. After you flash the latest version of Chainfire's supersu HERE , you have download the app from the playstore.
Not sure if this was related but right before I did the steps above, I switch over the the Nova launcher. One of the creators told me the stock blinkfeed launcher may give issues.

How exactly did you accomplish it? Did you push su from recovery mode? I've been trying from just regular, ready to make calls, mode. Did you run a script or do it all manually? xbin or bin? I know some people like symbolic links to xbin/su within bin.

I flashed the zip I linked above in TWRP recovery. You can connect your phone to a computer or download the supersu from your phone. After it is flashed, go to the play store and download the supersu app. I thought flashing would install the app on my phone but it didn't. After installing the app, pen it and it will prompt to install the binaries. After that I had root.
I'm not sure what you meant by xbin, bin, or symbolic links. I don't deal with any of that.

OK, thanks. The Zip usually takes care of all that. I was having no success with a the zip file provided in the Windroid toolkit, so I was trying to push the same su that the toolkit downloaded to the phone and was trying it manually. I tried it with the one Weaksauce puts in the xbin folder as well temporarily. Both didn't work. I'll give this a go.

Your welcome. I didn't use any of the methods you mentioned. I waited for the Sunshine 3 release to work and then tried the newest supersu zip. That did it. Now I'm waiting for a dev to port a rom to the HTC One Remix.

I'm currently working on figuring out how to port it. Doesn't look like it should be too hard, but we'll see.

I'll check back regularly. Which rom are you planning on porting. CM?

Successfully unlocked and s-off with sunshine. Then used su installer by the same guys for root yay! Now just waiting for devs to make or either port some Roms for the remix.

[How To] Install TWRP on LG G2, noob friendly guide

Hi,
I made this guide after struggling to install TWRP using several guides on XDA and other forums which fail to mention few other steps needed.
I am using a verizon lg g2 on stock lollipop 5.0.2 , rooted using LG ONE CLICK ROOT. But i guess this guide goes for all g2 variants who cannot simply install twrp on their stock firmware using flashify or autorec.
ISSUE :
I have tried flashify but this app is only useful if you already have an older version of recovery installed since i failed to install any version of twrp and cwm while trying. After installing a twrp , you can flash upgrade recovery using this.
Autorec gives me unresponsive button when tapping on the FLASH TWRP icon.
Other solution requires manual installation such as THIS GUIDE which i haven't tried because i am not that advanced android user yet since i came from using iOS.
The easiest way to install TWRP is autorec but to fix the unresponsive button, follow below steps:
** Ofcourse you need root in order to install custom recovery
1. Install AUTOREC from HERE. There are different app for different g2 variant so install accordingly.
2. Go to SuperSU settings , uncheck " Enable Superuser" and then scroll bottom where you see " reinstall" under CLEANUP section. Tap on that and proceed. Wait few seconds and when done, reboot your device.
3. Go to THIS LINK and download supersu 2.46
4. After its downloaded, tap and install it. Update binary and reboot.
5. Go to autorec, give it superuser permission and tap on the "Flash TWRP" icon and you will see it working.
** note : in order to install latest twrp, you must first install the initial img version and then flash the latest version zip from within. Update link : TWRP 3.0.2-1
Feel free to post below if it worked for you or if you need further assistance.

Help with twrp & flashing rom on g2
I have a rooted G2, ATT W/stock KitKat. At one point when I bought it, it had Lollipop, and TWRP, but I bricked it trying to install Magisk as a workaround to play Pokemon. That began my unwanted journey into the world of rooting, custom recovery, flashing, and the whole bit. I've watched many videos and read many threads but I'm very much a "noob" , and something always goes wrong. I can, and do read instructions but, I have found that usually I don't understand all the slang techy terms, and/or important steps are left out of the tutorials. Most recently, I tried to install TWRP using AutoRec and a YouTube video, and got stuck in TWRP and "soft-bricked".
I started a thread on here asking for help, even offering to donate, and got like 2 short replies saying "flash a custom ROM". Like that explains anything to a newbie.... When I clearly state I'm new at this, that doesn't help. Then today I get notification my thread was moved. Anyway, for a third time, I had to (follow the only YouTube tutorial that has actually worked for me), which just unroots, and puts the device back to a damn factory reset state.
MY GOAL is that I'm bound and determined to at least get Lolliop back on the device. I prefer that over KitKat. I also would love to be able to play Pokemon again, since the a**holes at Niantic blocked rooted phones from playing. Even after I did the factory restore thing and unrooted, the game still wouldn't install, saying "device not compatible". Apparently the Magisk workaround works for some people...
I am getting so frustrated and should just leave well enough alone. Everytime I say I'm not going to mess with it anymore, I end up trying, against my better judgement, and end up bricking.
So one last try.... - If there is anyone out there in XDA land with the ability, or inclination to help, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not a simpleton, but apparently there are so many things that have to be done precisely, or I get bricked.
If anyone can give simple, step-by-step instructions, leaving nothing out, accounting for anything that might go wrong, provide links that still exist, etc, etc. I will not only be a very happy guy, but my daughter will be happy that she can play Pokemon again, and I will be happy to have Lolliop, or even, dare I dream Marshmallow, and I would GLADLY donate a few bucks to whatever account...

No dice on AutoRec... do I need a special version?
AutoRec doesn't seem to actually do anything and flashing the recovery through any of the normal programs just leads to an error message when trying to enter recovery. Any ideas?
UPDATE (8:42PM) -
Figured it out! In the SuperSU app, I disabled "mount namespace separation" and "tapjacking protection" before rebooting and trying AutoRec one more time. This enabled the hidden install button behind the lollipop icon in the app and allowed TWRP to be installed instantly. Hooray!

To get the AutoRec app to work, you need to uncheck "tapjacking protection" inside of the SuperSu app (or its equivalent in whatever root manager you use).

Hey so do you think the blu advance 5.0 hd will be compatible with the work being done on the R1 hd? I would really like to jump on this hype train with my similar but slightly less powerful phone.
I am hoping that I will be able to install a custom rom like R1 users. I also want to root my phone to disable google services in the meantime.

That phone is based on the 6580 SoC, the R1 uses a 6735. There is a site that lists some roms for blu products that may help, I don't know how reliable they are, I have never used them, but if you want to check it out...

If your wanting to root it, I'm hearing Kingroot is working, never used it though, so I can't say if it works or if it's safe??

Did you use the desktop versions? Those have higher success rates. I tried rooting an HTC that way and it worked flawlessly even when the apk didn't.

I'm in the same boat. I've got 20 of these BLU Advance 5.0 HD devices and I need to root them to gain access to the VirtualSensor app to emulate a gyroscope. I've tried Kingo and Mobogenie (barf-boo-hisssss). I'm wondering if kingo isn't working on these since they have Marshmallow. I read somewhere they originally shipped with Lollipop.
Did you get anywhere Devanttrio??

consider yourself blessed my friend, i'd like to root mine just to get marshmallow.... i have lollipop and checked for updates and says i'm up to date, i can only install 1 app at a time because there is no room on the internal storage, i have to move every app to sd card and then clean cache for each and every app i want.. never recommending blu to anyone

I was able to root mine successfully the long way.... had to obtain a dump of the boot.img / recovery.img using software that I'm not sure of the policy of discussion on here at XDA - compile TWRP - unlock bootloader - fastboot boot the compiled recovery - flash SuperSU to get patched boot.img (kitchen was being dumb and systemless root didn't want to work) - Flash SuperSU in system mode - Convert SuperSU.apk to system app so it doesn't get removed every reboot. I can post my compiled TWRP when I'm back at my office or grab it from my repository that I'm trying to establish - https://bluroms.info . Sorry for the design mess / lack of much there at moment haven't had much free time lately in process of cleaning up the device kernel sources to build from source... its sort of ... messy in there...... can post on github if anyone wants in

I've been trying to root a Blu Advance 5.0 HD for a while now and stumbled on this post. I visited your site but am not sure what a 'Scatter File' is, or in what order I need to do things in order to get root.
If you could provide a little more detailed info that would be very much appreciated.

I found a option in developer settings that is "Enable OEM unlocking" and it makes it so you can unlock the bootloader from fastboot, if you do adb reboot-bootloader and then fastboot unlock it should undo the bootloader for you

I too am trying to root this device, and am unclear on a few of the steps here. I actually found your site with the recovery and boot images independently, really appreciated! I am at the point where I just need to patch the boot image, though I am not sure how to do this. If you could help me out with this step I might be able to put together some sort of list of steps to get through the whole process if you don't have the time.

It's only stock, but the installer includes enough options to keep us happy for a while.
The core installation includes a stripped down system menu with Google play and contacts. I also added, by default, the WiFi fix and hotspot mod. The rest of what you install is your choice.

This uses the same base files for each room, AQG1. So even tho the highest firmware for J320AG is only AQB1 you still get the July security update (minus the new sboot)
All devices are interchangable for me, on Cricket. Depending on your carrier maybe they'll all work for you too.

I have AT&T Samsung Galaxy Express Prime GoPhone, J320A. Owned it for one week. It has been carrier-unlocked. I'm now using T-Mobile SIM. Seems to work OK. Only issue I can find is where the SIM status page does not show my phone number.
I would appreciate pointers or maybe a place to look for installation steps. I assume I'll to need to root via Kingroot then replace with SuperSU (if possible). Then install FlashFire.​ I have rooted and installed ROMs on other devices (Galaxy Exhibit, 2012 Nexus tablet, Moto G), but seemingly devices are more locked-down these days. I understand that TWRP is not available for this device and likely will not be.
Last year, I bought a couple of inexpensive T-Mobile phones and "rooted" them with KingRoot which is still installed on those phones. (Not really thrilled about that.) I put rooted in quotes because it doesn't quite behave like a fully-rooted phone, IMO. I'm not very expert in these things, but I know how to follow steps and have used ODIN, TWRP, et cetera.
I'm leery of working with these more locked-down phones. Am I being paranoid and/or incorrect about these matters?

Maybe this phone is not as popular as I think it should be. Maybe it's too low-spec for the tech-savvy crowd. I got mine for just $64 at Walmart online, but they've since raised the price to $79. Seems like a good deal, even at that price.
I paid $15 to carrier-unlock it. I had to flash firmware (modem file?) before unlocking, then flash another file (restored modem?) after unlocking. I was following emailed instructions after the initial unlock procedure failed.

I definitely like the phone and yeah, it's a good price.
Being locked does hurt it tho. No easy recovery and no roms from source. The only thing we might get will be ported. And with no kernel, porting is a pain to track down problems... but i like a challenge

My J3 was unlocked out of the box? Still don't quite get the different names for it though. Rooted with infixremix method and worked fi e until its download caused the dialer to crash whenever it was opened. Still trying to sort out the mess I made of this one.

I'm thinking of trying this ROM and I haven't rooted my phone yet.
Although I did unlock the carrier via a paid unlocker site. I'm using it on T-Mobile with no apparent issues. My phone is stock, of course, except for being carrier-unlocked. …Several questions, if I might:
Are those "extra" AT&T and Samsung accounts present? (ref. screenshot)
Are Samsung factory (i.e.: theme-able) dialer, messaging, and contacts apps installed?
Is it still possible to theme the UI with the Samsung theme installer?
Finally, which bloat icons have been purged? (ref. screenshot) I realize one's idea of bloat may vary from individual.
Any feedback or commentary is welcome. Thank you for your consideration.

I'm not going to review it (someone else can)
But I used it heavily before I started work on something new.
It's as stable as stock... cause it is stock Nothing tweaked just the few add-ons to let you tweak it easier.
About the bloat.
I did notice I should have left Samsung account (and maybe billing) with the standard install. Because you can't use the theme store without them. But they're in 'bloat'.
You can always install all the debloat options and have 100% deodex stock and edit to your liking.

How do we flash this to our device mainly because twrp and cwm ain't a thing for the j320a. Also I'm using kingroot and I cannot go to su I've tried also flashify does not work either does flashfire how would you go about rooting with su cause I've tried the mrw method and contanstaly it would pop up kinguser has stopped working so do you have another method of rooting the J320A. I just followed the first post about rooting it.

I just rooted my phone with Kingroot and used the mrw method to remove it well keeping my root. after got Su in my terminal emulator, I deleted the kingroot apk not the app itself. then just installed SuperSu thru my play store and been working just fine for me.

I've tried that it would just constantly spam me with kinguser has stopped working and that message would constantly spam me so I'm not ever using that way again.

Yeah i guess i never had kinguser app or apk i had to delete. Was just kingroot apk that i downloaded and used.

After mrc and kinguser crashes you should have supersu. You need to run that first, let it update the files and then reboot.
If su doesn't even get installed, have the apk ready and install.
Another thing you should make sure your really rooted, reboot after king and recheck.
Also what versions of kingroot and mrw are you using?

I followed the rooting thread OP directions carefully and had many problems. My initial Kingroot was really ugly and heated the phone. I then attempted to use SuperSU-Me Pro (paid version). It was never able to complete, even after several tries. I struggled using various techniques over many hours. (I did have root with Kingroot.) Nothing would remove Kingroot 5.0.5, and as you probably know, Kingroot won't allow for many apps such as Flashfire. Very frustrating. I probably shortened the life of my phone and battery with all the crap I tried. Many pulls of my battery were needed.
I finally wrested control from Kingroot by uninstalling version 5.0.5 and installing Kingroot 4.5 instead. Then SuperSU-Me Pro did its work. Had I used Kingroot 4.5 from the outset, would things would have gone better? I don't know. The rooting process for this phone is a one-way trip with a dubious outcome. I know the Express Prime is not costly, but if you're risk adverse think twice before trying to root. I suppose you can undo the whole thing, but I haven't tried and likely will not.
Despite the problems I had, I believe using SuperSU-Me Pro was worth the cost and ultimately saved time. I'm glad I rooted my phone, but -- damn, it was a lot of effort compared to previous phones and my tablet.
I have not tried the de-odexed ROM posted in this thread's OP, but it's on my to-do list. I'm kind of afraid of messing with my phone for the time being. I'll post a review if and when I try it out.
For what it's worth, I wasn't able to get my built-in flashlight toggle to work. I ran the fix script via flashfire with no success. Update: Fixed after installing Busybox. Thanks, DamienMc!

I put rooted in quotes because it doesn't quite behave like a fully-rooted phone, IMO. I'm not very expert in these things, but I know how to follow steps and have used ODIN, TWRP, et cetera.
I'm leery of working with these more locked-down phones. Am I being paranoid and/or incorrect about these matters?

Maybe this phone is not as popular as I think it should be. Maybe it's too low-spec for the tech-savvy crowd. I got mine for just $64 at Walmart online, but they've since raised the price to $79. Seems like a good deal, even at that price.
I paid $15 to carrier-unlock it. I had to flash firmware (modem file?) before unlocking, then flash another file (restored modem?) after unlocking. I was following emailed instructions after the initial unlock procedure failed.

i am new in these forums,
i searched over the web and also tried many root methods, but none worked.
root method for NXH19X is not working for me i tried multiple times.
the main error i am getting is "unable to mount /system; no such thing found" in TWRP
i also tried multiple Supersu files official ones and unofficial ones as well.
after some research i found out about new file system squashfs FS
then i tried this rom which supports EXT4 File System

but it didnot work out as well,(get boot looped)
so flashed stock rom and now on latest update as told earlier,

i personally like stock rom and it is working fine for me.

i have root on my phone (one plus one), i felt like i am unable to use my watch on full potential without root.

i tried your given method,
twrp seems to work fine first time,
but i lost twrp as soon as i boot into system,
some how system replace recovery with default one each time watch booted into android itself,
however i am able to boot into recovery, when tried directly from fast-boot after flashing it,
but still unable to obtain root,
the zip files seems to flash perfectly, but there is no su in app drawer,
thanks for your support, but i think new version makes it harder to gain root,
and i am fine without root i can live without it.

There is no SuperUser for android wear watches. It will automatically allow root access for all apps that request it...
