Does anyone know how to fix this without going back to 1440p?
run your nexus 6 properly, and it will all look fine. if not, its your own choice. whats the point of lowering your resolution amyways? it doesnt save battery nor improves anything.

I lower the resolution to save battery and put less stress on the GPU, and I lower the DPI to make UI elements smaller because of the available screen real estate. I know if I go back to stock it would fix it, but I just want to know if anyone has a quick fix for it.

it DOES NOT save battery, actually might use a little more. all the pixels are still being used. that means, its still using the battery, the same amount, at least. i use my n6 at full resolution, and get 5-6 hours sot. no battery hacks btw.

Well yeah all the pixels are still being used, but (at least in theory) the GPU would not have to render the extra pixels, similar to how you get better performance in a game if you go down from 1080p to 720p. If it doesn't save battery then at least I'm getting better performance right?

Only "improvement" I can see, is increased FPS number in Quadrant benchmark 3D tests, but score and performance looks same for me... Those 3D tests run and look same as they did before...

Not for me. Without this i got 2800 at first test with this directly 3100-3200.
nice one, stumbled over that thread some minutes ago and was going to post it too... beat me to it eh?
anyways, same here, no errors, works great, just try riptide gp :>
OMG !
now i got 65 fps in the planet test !
score 2700 > 3200
Running morfic's extra UV kernel, quadrant up a little, but the difference with the planets is huge. Looks lovely!

it does make a difference in quadrant score. here is a quadrant at 1440/1440 ondemand, using the trinity kernel, with the file removed. first, its 200 points higher than normal. 2nd, check out the insane 3D score..

Almost a year later and finally fixed Too bad lazy developer never just fixed quadrant in first place for NS
Got to luv XDA, much appreciated.
Does this only fix quadrant or does it actually help games also?
EDIT
tested
quadrant 3D bench finally works correctly. "Benchmark" is still **** though
Games performance ...its hard to tell since most games run smooth on NS
my gameloft FPS games seem slightly smoother but
would be able to tell if we could display fps while playing a game...lol fraps for android
Even though this does help in some cases its got to have some negative effects Elsewhere i mean you're removing what looks to be a system driver
someone with galaxy s phone with 2.3 should back up this file and upload here since galaxy s doesn't seem to have this problem with quadrant maybe just replacing file with Samsung driver will work also...idk

if in doubt blame bad /badly configured apps.
so i guess tour previous install had app issues keeping the cpu active and therefore keeping the temp up.
theres no logical reason why the phone would stay cooler otherwise.

Yes it improves graphics performance in benchmarks but it doesnt effect games. Cuz pretty much all games support 1080p most so games already has performance improvement without anything.

Ok. I understand. I edit tittle post. Android seems to be more faster with this resolution. Recent apps loads faster comparing to 2k resolution.
I try a few days.
If I could make a slight correction, 2k is technically 1080.
4k and 2k refers to the largest of the two resolution values; 3840 x 2160 gives us 4k (3840 is approx 4000) and hence 1920 x 1080 gives us 2k (1920 is approx 2k)

Yes it can affect ui performance more than games. Ui has higher res. If you set everything to lower res cpu and gpu wont have to work hard like they are on 2k res.
This works man

Mathematically I see no flaws in what I just said; what don't you understand?
So 1440x2560 (3,7mln pixels) is same as 1080x1920(2mln px) "technically"?
in the real world, lowering the resolution from 2k to 1080p would give a big improvment in performance and battery life.
however after finding out about this trick a few weeks ago and reading more about it- the difference in battery life is negligible as the screen still powers the extra pixles, however the only difference is that the gpu doesn't have to process them.
you can use it for the extra score in antutu, but it doesn't give you much as apart from that..I haven't encountered a game/app/anything since my S4 that lagged. and especially not on my note 4.

No; if we are being pedantic, 4k should be called 3.84k and 1080p should be called 1.92k.
However, if we round 3.84k to 4k then we should clearly round 1.92k to 2k.
QHD is actually 2.56k, although that's too far from 3k to round up and too far from 2k to round down. MKBHD discusses it in his video "Oppo Find 7 Rant!" - http://youtu.be/E0_JrUNevdc

It's not going to save any battery life. The screen still has to push all its pixels, regardless of the resolution it is displaying. It may perform better in benchmarks and thats about it. If you want to save battery life, install a custom kernel and rom.

If you want to fix the lag, changing the screen resolution isn't the route you should take. You should root, then flash a custom kernel and rom. That will fix your lag and you won't have to stare at a blurry screen all day. If you want to fix the lag, one way or another you will unfortunately have to trade your warranty and Samsung pay. Just keep that in mind.
When using games for example, I use the Game Tuner app and this helps a lot for it reduces the resolution used on games.
Has anyone found a way to go from 2k to 1080p on the overall ui, not just one games?

I dont get the people. Why are you insistly saying dont do that you dknt need that staff. If you know something about how we can change you can help but I dont beleive reducing the resolution not gonna help to performance. Maybe not in the battery side but it MUST be get extra performance on lower resolution. It helps on PC afaik.

Yes with root and resolution changer. You just don't seem the type that wants to deal with all that entails (on note 5 once you trip Knox, you'll have to deal with deep sleep issue on stock) , so don't. Just be happy with what you have.
Note 5 ?
Default setting - FHD.
I changed that to max setting.
Why Samsung decided not to use full screen potential in default settings? Can I expect bigger battery drain?

Yes, it will actually drain more. A good way to know how much you can save being on fhd. Set to max, then go to battery settings and choose any of the other two battery saver mode, next to each"setting" it should show how much time you save if those are toner off. It should show screen resolution, Bluetooth, background data, brightness, and more.
I use that only as a reference to see how much juice I can size based on the settings I have turned on.
Thanks.
Just did some comparison of different saving modes changing screen resolution and in my case FHD saves 7 minutes of battery time compared to WQHD.
So it doesn't make sense using lower resolution. It saves some battery but not that much to sacrifice the main part of the phone (the gorgeous screen).

Well when you factor in screen brightness, that 7 minutes can jump to 45 minutes easily depending on if you're going outside and such. In my Note 8i used to run fhd with a 445dpi. Smooth and crisp and looked like wqhd as much as possible.
I've never seen a noticeable difference on my Note 8. Ran it for a week on mid level resolution, saw no difference in battery life so I turned it back up to the highest resolution. Each to their own, but I don't think the difference is enough either way. Run the one you are most comfortable looking at for icon and text size.

Note8 screen size 6,3 inch, note9 - 6,4 inch.
A bit bigger display, same resolution like old 1440p makes this insignificant difference

It's done to prevent battery drain. Increasing it to full resolution won't make any noticeable difference in image quality. As far as battery drain it's really hard to say. The display will always be displaying the full 2960x1440. It really a matter of what uses more power: 1. Having the GPU render all the possible pixels or 2. Have the GPU render fewer pixels but have to upscale the image to the full 2960x1440. I'd be surprised if the difference was really that big. Although to squeeze as much battery life out as I could I'd probably set it to FHD just to squeeze out as much as I can. The full resolution is a waste anyways.
