Is there a Rooted Flashable Zip for T-810 MM? - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys,
Is there a Rooted Flashable Zip for T-810 MM? I searched the forums but couldnt find it. I see the ODIN stock versions but not a rooted flashable one.

Not that I've seen. It really isn't necessary, since all you need to do is grab one of the MM images, flash via Odin, then flash the most recent SuperSu.

you can install ota's with custom recovery btw
its messing with anything on system that causes installs to fail
I'm assuming these methods are for MDC and not MDL correct?

I've always had it fail with custom recovery. And I don't usually uninstall system apps. I'll note that in the video though! Thanks.

in the old days ota's used to wipe everything and reinstall the rom, thus removing root. since gingerbread all they use is patch files, thankfully too. could you imagine a 1.5GB "ota"? it checks the hash of all the files its going to be updating, if it needs to update modem and you have a diff modem then it will fail, if you removed an apk it needs it will fail etc.
its why cwm/oudhs will detect if teh su binary has been altered with permissions and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh as they tend to be teh results of otas
Thanks boy.!

Am I understanding this correctly? So if we've rooted and installed a custom recovery but everything else is stock we can accept an OTA without breaking root?

Everytime I tried to flash the ota it failed at the flashing point. I'm thinking it was due to the kernal being changed in my root process. I used OUDHS recovery method. ... Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong which I might be.

If you didn't remove the stock bloat then you'd need to throw the stock recovery back on.

as i explained earlier, the only way a ota will pass while you use custom recovery to flash it, is normally if you have custom recovery and root and thats all. alter system in any way and you risk the ota not going. replacing the kernel is guaranteed way to make them fail, almost every ota ever has included a new kernel update.

Rooting tab 8.9

Hi, I have been trying to root my P7310 tab using the instructions and root files I found in several threads. My problem is that when I boot in recovery mode I don't get in the list of options the one that says 'apply update from SD card', I only get the option of updating from external storage or cache.
Anyone could help me with this?
Thank you,
C

Use the guide from here by nirogu325 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406137
It has all that you need. And when in recovery, it's not necessarily 'apply update from SD card'. Just choose the zip file that you have to flash to gain root. I suggest that you use TWRP recovery on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602188
Thanks for your help, I will try the instructions although they look a bit complicated for a near novice like me. My problem with the zip file is that when I am in recovery mode I cannot select any path leading to the SD Card root folder where the zip has been uploaded. It drives me nuts, it seems to work for everyone else but me!

The original gingerbread recovery had an option to flash zips. The ICS recovery did not. Rooting was way easier on GB because of this. The only way to root ICS is to install a custom recovery to flash a root.zip file.

Instructions from the guide are relatively easy to follow. Just read the whole lot. I think it would be better if you upgrade to ICS first if your still in Honeycomb.

Ok, I think I need some help. I cannot flash zip drives from the standard ICS recovery as I do not get the option of accessing the SD card (see photo attached) so I can't either root or flash CWMR zip. As suggested I have tried Odin but there are no instructions on how to flash a CWMR zip in the tread, only how to flash ROMs. I have tried to search with the PDA or BOOTLOADER buttons but I cannot load a zip file in Odin. I am really not sure what to do now?
can you help?

CyanogenMod instaled and unusable, I have installed GoogleApps separately but they do not show up anywhere. The browser does not work so I cannot try to access gooleplay. The PC does not recognise the tablet any more and I cannot transfer files. Well done me!
I suppose I could go back installing a stock ROM with Odiin, the problem is that the only post I have found with stock ROMs has links to Hotfiles.com which is no longer in service. Can anyone direct me to any other link where I could download a stock ROM for P7310?
Thank you.

Well yeah I didn't mention that you should do a full wipe first because I thought you already knew that
anyway, hopefully messing up with your tab won't be necessary, cuz stock ICS is the best, personally I use this tweaked one:
[ROM][ICS][STOCK][P7300/P7310][LQJ/LPV][Deodexed/Odexed] Final Build [14/1/14]
It is the best!!!:victory:
Cheers, what are the differences with the tweaked ROM you have?

Agree, I've tried the 10.1.3 and 10.2 CM versions before. But IMHO, overall performance is not on par with stock ICS.

Xperia Z1S C6916 ROMS?

Hello,
Yesterday I picked up a T-Mobile Z1S and rooted it via TowelRoot, installed a custom recovery, and manually debloated the /system. Which is all good, however, I want to know if any of the ROMS here in this forum can be flashed to it, considering the Z1 and Z1S have the same processor. Anyone have experience doing this? Thanks.

Locked bootloader typically means it will be hard to flash custom ROMs until a way to bypass it or unlock it becomes available even with root.
I could not get towel root to work with my z1s. You just ran it and had root?
I have tried a couple yes with no luck.

Actually, there are no roms yet, but you can deodex your current rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783626
I rooted a little different than others. First I used the jcase method, installed the dual recovery and installed SuperSU. From there, I installed TowelRoot and ran it, rebooted, then flashed the latest v2 SuperSU. Sounds a little redundant I know, however, now I have permanent root, and also read/write permissions in /system, even after reboot, without running those ADB commands all the time.

I'll try to get a good system dump from my Z1S, and release a ROM that doesn't affect the kernel, which should be able to be flashed via recovery. Since the ROM will only be /system mods, it shouldn't matter if the boot loader is locked still. Inform me please if I'm mistaken.

I think that should be right, I thought the bootloader only prevents booting if the kernel isn't supported/allowed

No, you are correct.
As long as it runs on a stock kernel then you can have a locked bootloader. the whole of the development section is full of roms like that
The original development section is for mods/roms that need a custom kernel or a non stock boot.img

has any one been able to create a back up nan?
This thread caught my attention. Has anyone had luck with flashing a rom with stock kernal using dual recovery? I will be attempting this later in the evening and I will post my results
After multiple issues I was finally able to get dual recovery with root last night. After sifting through the forums looking through roms, all of them required different firmwares, will the c6916 take firmwares from other z1 devices. If so then as the above poster said, there is loads of roms in the development section that will worked with locked bootloader. The only reason I ask is the posts list different device model numbers and the c6916 is not listed on any.
I would be very careful I hope you have insurance.
Kk update will come soon.

Did you even get to bootinmation.
No cm will boot with locked bootloader.
Sent from my C6916 using xda premium
Our devices have a 4.3 kernel that cannot be changed due to the bootloader being locked. Flashing a 4.4.X ROM will most likely not boot due to needing a 4.4 kernel as well. However, 4.3 ROMS modified to not flash the kernel, just the /system should boot fine.
When trying to boot another custom stock rom make sure you change the.
1. Libandroid-runtime-so.
2. Libandroid-servers-so.
Without not changing these it will not usually not boot up.

It will literally probably be only hours after release that you will be able to download the update here on the forums. No stock recovery required. Can't wait that long?

What you need is to flash a rom as close to stock as possible (you can find stock backups here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736048 ) and then flash a stock recovery (theres one on here somewhere, if you cant find it ill post one ). Once the OTA comes itll notify you and you can take the update. As long as you're s-off you can then install your custom recovery again and you're good to go.
Im like you i guess, i like to keep an factory OTA on hand myself. Hope this helps.

Galaxy S5- Can I Flash A ROM With TWRP Instead Of Flashfire?

Hello, i'm new in this forum and i haven't flashed so many roms before.
in this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g870aoc5-5-0-keeproot-t3083841
they use flashfire to install lollipop rooted rom into G870A devices.
but i have a problem, i followed the steps to receive flashfire beta on my device but i never got it, i asked in g+ page to someone to share me the apk containing flashfire beta (the version that is required to do this), but he said me i have to change the date of my phone to july 1st because the app does not open at all, and it is true, by changing the date i was able to open the app, but i;m not sure about using it because i thing it is not the right version and i thing i can damage my device.
Can i use twrp instead? or is it safe to use the apk he shared to me?
Thanks
Much to the dismay of almost everyone here Twrp will not work on our locked bootloader phone.
