Few days ago, my phone had problem with touchscreen, so gave it for replacement at Samsung service center. I got it with small but deep scratch on home button as well home button did not responded as it should, it had to be presses little more than usual to work. I showed this to service center, they replaced my home key and I found out its working same, not responsive as it should. I've showed to service center engineer, he said it's fine, ur pressing it so lightly, but I m not, I have used s6 and note 5 since many months, home button responds how ever u press, it just needs to press, it feels like home button is slightly stuck inside, there is very little home button bump , but most or ppl don't understand this, people press button so hard that's why it works. So, how should I convince service center that it's faulty? Or do you think, if I use home button for few days or week it will work? Fingerprint works fine.

Try using it a few days, since it's been replaced it may need to be broken in a little.
If it does not change after a few days have them replace the phone.

Best suggestion I can give you is to get root and use a ROM with trackball wake/unlock. This will reduce the use of the power button to almost nothing. You could also then use quick boot to allow reboot to recovery, bootloader or normal. All without touching the power button ever.
Some devices have faulty power button. Some don't.
I don't know how lucky you are with your device, and I don't know how gentle you are with the power button, so it's impossible to tell if your power button will fail or not.
In any case, as suggested above, using trackball wake can lower the chances of it failing.
U said some have some dont... that mean not all could possible became faulty.. usually how long the device became faulty? 4 month? 6 month? Or over 1 years? Currently im using widgetlocker to unlock via trackball...

I have had mine since about a week after release. My power button is still like new. I have never had to push it twice to do the same thing.
Mine broke about a month ago, i bought ti a couple of weeks after release.
I used quick boot to reboot it, screen off and lock app to turn the screen off, trackball wake to turn it on. And if you need to turn the phone back on, you can plug it into power and pull the battery a few times.
Power button is fine after a year. But I avoid it as much as possible by using Quick boot, Lock, & Trackball wake.
That mean all possible became faulty!!. Right now im avoid it using power button.. i use widgetlocker and screen off and lock free on market.it help me to turn off screen without touch ur power button

It's kinda strange, I keep hearing of these issues with the power button...
I had to have dropped my N1 at least 5 times straight on the power button. Almost split the device in half one time doing it. Power button never failed on me, nor did any other hardware come to think of it. And I still sold it. lol.

It IS a possibility that your power button will go bad. It is a possibility it may not. No one can say for sure that, yes your power button will quit working. The less you physically push it, the longer it will last, obviously.
Mines been fine and I've been using it regularly since April, I think the issue affected more of the early Nexuses than the later made ones.
My power button is starting to lose it's functionality and I am sad about it. It's still usable but my alternatives is using quickboot, trackball wake, and lock screen app. I barely use my power button now.

So, my girlfriend dropped her sgs+ in the toilet and now her home button doesn't work anymore. I found a lot of home button replacements on my phone (Xperia t running jb) but it turns out the sgs+ isn't compatible with those apps. So my question here is do any of you know a good home button replacement or pie control app that works on the sgs+. She would prefer a floating home button. Thanks in advance

you can use button remapper look in MY Android collection (link below) under recovery tools, to use other buttons instead or search in play store under buttons for the many apps that will give you a floating home button on your screen.

Free App "Button Savior (Root)" can replace any button on phones with root access
You can always try using LMT Launcher. My home button died like a year and a half ago from heavy rain(bah, if I use some drops of rubbing alcohol on it it works again for a while, just for entering Recovery/Download) and this works as a nice replacement. It's basically PIE controls in an APK and you just need to have root on her phone.
Or just buy a new home button. If you are in the UK I have a spare bottom circuit board complete with touch keys, home button, vibrating motor, and microphone you can have for the cost of postage. The menu key led needs resoldered, but it works, just doesn't light up. Apart from that its fine.
(I broke my screen a month ago and bought a full replacement front panel ready to go on the phone to save the hassle of swapping just the screen, also my outer plastic trim was badly marked, and the difference between buying a replacement amoled only, and a full front panel ready to fit on the phone was like £10 lol

Hi
I wonder if anybody can help. Friend's I9000 got broken screen. We bought another one with menu and return key not working and replaced the board inside. Now he's got his for working again. However the two keys still don't work. I;ve tried touch firmware update by doing #*#*2663*#*#. This just goes forever and never finishes. The keys do light up and go off when you touch them . However, the functionality is missing.
Thanks
Button Saviour or LMK work well.

looks like i got a lemon, screen will not turn back on however device continues to function. The touchscreen even works but you can't tell what you are clicking on.
Only way to get back to functional is to pull the battery, only happened once last week but in the last two days i've had to pull it 6 times or so.
Just posting this up in case someone else starts having the same problem. I've got a replacement being shipped out this week.
You are not the only one. Mine does it from time to time

I might have had this happen last night. Black screen, buttons lights would only flicker once quickly when pressing the power button. Pressing and holding the power button did not cause a reboot. I did not try any screen action as I could not see anything. Had to pop the battery to get the device back to working.

I got my replacement, and it still does seem to have this bug to some extent, however, this phone seems to be able to get out of the screen black if something else triggers it.
For instance, I got a phone call, and that brought it out of the black-out. Another time i just kept pushing buttons and it finally woke up.
Hopefully it's just a software bug??
Anyone else had this ? Normal use, not been dropped and the power button has cracked in the middle. It works still but its sunken on one side which is annoying.
Yes, same here. My power button bricked in normal use too. Right in the middle like urs. Sometimes its unpushable
