Power button cracked - HTC One Mini 2

Anyone else had this ? Normal use, not been dropped and the power button has cracked in the middle. It works still but its sunken on one side which is annoying.

Best suggestion I can give you is to get root and use a ROM with trackball wake/unlock. This will reduce the use of the power button to almost nothing. You could also then use quick boot to allow reboot to recovery, bootloader or normal. All without touching the power button ever.
Some devices have faulty power button. Some don't.
I don't know how lucky you are with your device, and I don't know how gentle you are with the power button, so it's impossible to tell if your power button will fail or not.
In any case, as suggested above, using trackball wake can lower the chances of it failing.
U said some have some dont... that mean not all could possible became faulty.. usually how long the device became faulty? 4 month? 6 month? Or over 1 years? Currently im using widgetlocker to unlock via trackball...

I have had mine since about a week after release. My power button is still like new. I have never had to push it twice to do the same thing.
Mine broke about a month ago, i bought ti a couple of weeks after release.
I used quick boot to reboot it, screen off and lock app to turn the screen off, trackball wake to turn it on. And if you need to turn the phone back on, you can plug it into power and pull the battery a few times.
Power button is fine after a year. But I avoid it as much as possible by using Quick boot, Lock, & Trackball wake.
That mean all possible became faulty!!. Right now im avoid it using power button.. i use widgetlocker and screen off and lock free on market.it help me to turn off screen without touch ur power button

It's kinda strange, I keep hearing of these issues with the power button...
I had to have dropped my N1 at least 5 times straight on the power button. Almost split the device in half one time doing it. Power button never failed on me, nor did any other hardware come to think of it. And I still sold it. lol.

It IS a possibility that your power button will go bad. It is a possibility it may not. No one can say for sure that, yes your power button will quit working. The less you physically push it, the longer it will last, obviously.
Mines been fine and I've been using it regularly since April, I think the issue affected more of the early Nexuses than the later made ones.
My power button is starting to lose it's functionality and I am sad about it. It's still usable but my alternatives is using quickboot, trackball wake, and lock screen app. I barely use my power button now.

[Q] Some questions in dead power button

I have a dead power button that I think is broken or have a dust in it that can't make it work.
I have read several threads about it.
For example the phone is off and i cant turn it on by power button is there any way to make it on?
using ADB?
or using a CM7/CM9 ROM? (some says that if you plug the charger it will automatically turn on)
or any methods that you can recommend?
I can relate, it's becoming quite common. Mine is slowly dying. I have volume rocker wake enabled and touch wake also. My understanding from reading other peoples problem is that it should turn on when plugged in with ics.
But if you are not on ics then i don't know how you'll turn it on to flash.
Sorry i cant help more

Mine died to....get a rom that can utilize the volume wake feature to use ur power buttons...I did that for a while until I got it fixed like last week

Thanks you too. Im using legend 5 and got MIUI locker for a while that it can wake up by using vol buttons. Used button remapping also for the power function. XD

Do at your own risk:
It's really easy to use a small( I mean correct size for the screws) screwdriver and pull the back plate off the phone and give everything a good cleaning out. You won't believe the junk you find in there. Chances are there's junk up in the power button. I used to have power button issues till I took it apart and cleaned it.
There is a guide(with pics) to tear it down and put it back together somewhere....
I've probably disassembled mine 3 or 4 times. Never had any trouble i only use 3 of the 6 screws to hold the back plate on. it's easier to deal with only three.
also you can use your fingernail to peel back the plastic by the screen and power button area. once you do this try your best to press your lips up to the phone and blow air through the crack. I use this almost every two weeks to get my power button to behave properly.
I think it's possible to replace the power button, might require soldering. I'm not sure, I've never needed to do it.
Hope this resource helps

White screen of death after starting?

Hello
After opening the slider the screen went black on my droid 3. I could not power it on any more with the power button.
So I pulled out the battery and pressed the power button after putting the battery in its place. The result was an almost white screen with very little coloured spots.
Every time I press the power-button that happens. After that I can not power off the droid with the power button I have to pull the battery out.
After some hours of testing and droid started occasionally. I used it for some minutes and pressed the power button. The screen went black and I could not wake the phone up by pressing the power button.
I pulled out the battery. After putting the battery into the device and pressing the power button I had the white screen again.
I tried
-- Power + "m"
and
-- Power + vol-down
But nothing showed any success.
Any idea?
Thank you
It seems like a hw problem. Software doesn't fix itself, but a bad connection can work sometimes. I'd take it to the service warranty.

Unfortunately there is no warranty available. Does it make sense to dismantle the droid, and check all the cables?
Thank you
P.S. You were right. I have put the motherboard into another droid and everything worked.
Is there any chance to change the cable between the screen and the mainboard?

Power Button problems

I have my HTC One GPE only for ca. 3 months and somehow the power button starts to make some clicky noise when pressing and the resistance of the button is weaker and it seems I can turn on/off the phone just by slightly touching the button. The weird thing is it comes and goes and I don't know if it is just dirt that deposits between button and phone casing or if the "spring" below the button starts to wear off.
Has somebody the same problem?
Thanks,
Marco

I have a problem with my power button too. There is a clicking noise when I press down on the left side of power button but not on the right side. I cannot press the right side of power button without using force. I don't know if I should return my HTC One. I just bought it 2 weeks ago.
I would return it because you probably get a new one. I wait until it gets worse and will send it in for repair.

Home button is not working as it should?

Few days ago, my phone had problem with touchscreen, so gave it for replacement at Samsung service center. I got it with small but deep scratch on home button as well home button did not responded as it should, it had to be presses little more than usual to work. I showed this to service center, they replaced my home key and I found out its working same, not responsive as it should. I've showed to service center engineer, he said it's fine, ur pressing it so lightly, but I m not, I have used s6 and note 5 since many months, home button responds how ever u press, it just needs to press, it feels like home button is slightly stuck inside, there is very little home button bump , but most or ppl don't understand this, people press button so hard that's why it works. So, how should I convince service center that it's faulty? Or do you think, if I use home button for few days or week it will work? Fingerprint works fine.

Try using it a few days, since it's been replaced it may need to be broken in a little.
If it does not change after a few days have them replace the phone.
