Whenever I download a picture from the browser it shows in the status bar. I hit clear and it goes away; when I reboot it is there again and again..... I have tried to clear data and cache on the browser and the download manager and it still comes back. Does anyone know what else I can do to fix this? Android 5.0 Rooted.
Thanks.

Background :
Yesterday I was messing around with my phone and managed to screw up the OS while trying to install some mods and had to flash it again. Flashing went fine and everything was functioning including the market for the first few hours. I downloaded and installed about 10 or 15 apps (both paid and free) everything installed fine. But when I was installing Catch Notes (free) from the market my wi-fi connection lost internet and the download got stuck at 89%, then I went back enabled 3G data and tried again. That time when I clicked install , I got Downloading : catch notes, catch notes (it appeared twice) in the notification area with a circled number 2 appearing next to the download icon on the top status bar. But after a while the download went into “Download paused” state. Now I can’t finish installing catch notes nor download any other app from the market. When I try to install any app from the market now I get "Starting Download" and then immediately after I get "Download Paused" message and stops there with a green stripes animation where the download progress bar usually appears.
What I have tried so far
I went through this thread and tried most of the suggestions:
Cleared the cache of Market and Download Manager.
Rebooted in to recovery mode (3e) and wiped the cache partition
Checked the IMEI number, they match.
I tried clearing and rebooting the phone many times. Even waited almost a day and tried everything again. Switched between 3G and Wi-Fi (internet works on both modes).
After wiping all the caches I stopped getting Catch notes app trying to download twice, but thats the only change.
Any ideas ? I really don’t want to flash it again or factory reset/format SD card or wipe all user data.
P.S : Galaxy S GT i9000 (international), unlocked no branding, running stock 2.2.1 (JPY) [updated through Kies with reghack] rooted, but no mods or lag fixes installed.
Managed to fix it. I uninstalled the market update, and cleared all the caches, rebooted the phone and it started working.
Now wondering how to get the new market, if it doesn't get updated automatically guess I'll have to copy the new apk manually..
EDIT : New market appeared automatically after a phone reboot. . Everything back to normal .
I did a factory reset on my rooted Bionic. I deleted the setupwizard thinking it would bypass setup and boot t and Now I'm getting a sett up error Unfortunatley, com.motorola setupwizard. controller has stopped.
What can I do to stop the pop up and boot to the phone?
I went into apps and forced closed setup up controller. pop up still showing up.
Shut down the phone and start it up again. On the Welcome screen, use the 4-corner bypass. Tap the upper-left corner below the status bar, then upper-right the same way, lower-right but actually somewhat to the left going closer to the emergency call button, then lower-left similar to the previous one. After you've done this, you can continue with setting up the phone then fix the problem once you are past the setup screens.
If it doesn't work for you the first time, just keep trying until you figure out the locations to tap. Once you figure it out, it should be easy to do it any future times that you need it.
on reboot

fix
Use the appropriate fxz build for your bionic with rsd lite On your PC with your Motorola USB cord and updated Motorola drivers.
Not sure if anyone else has had the same issue but I couldn't find anything on it. I installed rooted and then installed Null. Decided to go back to stock. Flashed the stock firmware back on. after first boot I was missing the apps menu, so I rebooted back into recovery mode and let it do its restore thing. Now I have the apps menu back but no notification icon, I get notifications but there's nowhere to go in a preview it. I've tried factory reset, recovery, re-flashing stock rom, nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dan
Never mind, figured it out. Had to reset the gear and restart a new profile in gear manager. Seem like it remembered that I never had a notification icon, even though I didn't delete it. Thanks
I have a stock non-rooted s6, I've done the OTA update already, and everything seems to be working just fine. However after the update I went to wipe the cache partition and after holding the power, volume up, and home button a little android pops up with a rotating star in it's chest, and it says installing system update for several seconds before it takes me to the screen where I can do the cache wipe. I've never rooted a device, so I'm not familiar with a lot of this, but in everything I read about doing this it never mentioned the "installing system update" part. I figured it might have been part of the OTA update that wasn't completed, but I tried doing it again and had the same message pop up. Can anyone confirm if this is a normal occurence?
Thanks in advance.
I noticed this today as well. I went to wipe cache as well and had the same android guy with the "installing update". I thought something did install correctly from the update as well since in recovery there is an option to install update from ADB, external storage or cache. I would say it is nothing to be concerned over.
Well I'm glad to know it's not just me, but I wish I knew why it does that. There's a quick pop up after the Android that says something like "no command" and an icon I didn't catch. So every time you boot to recovery it goes through that little sequence before you get to the menu options. Puzzling. Thanks for the reply. Hopefully someone figures out what it means.

just scroll down the menu to wipe cache partition
using your volume key down
then when u get to wipe cache hit power button
to select it
the it will take u up to reboot hit power button
again and your done
dont worry about the little android guy
you are NOT updating anything
starting a few days ago, my recents, and home buttons will go missing, and the notification drop down menu refuses to pull down.
I go in and out of apps, lock screen unlock, and just do random stuff and they reappear.
I've wiped cache in twrp.
I've been on the same nought rom for a year, it randomly started recently.
anyone have any ideas?
Only way to go would be a hard reset, then, look for a firmware prior the one you are using now, and flash it through newest Odin version
I agree with winol on this. It also could be wrong went wrong when you install twrp. You may want to read up on how to install twrp and check to see that you have installed it properly.
