Out of no where my phone screen is mostly white with lots of multi colored vertical lines. I tried resetting it hard, soft, and reset it to the defaults. I still cannot see anything on the screen. I assume its a loose cable to the screen, but since i am under warrenty i didnt open it up. I already have a replacement warrenty phone on its way, but i dont wanna return a cooked rom. What do u guys think the best way to reformat the phone back to an original rom?
Can you take a screenshot of it?
I cant see anything on the screen. But ill take a picture of the screen...
http://www.dbhosts.net/bob/photo.jpg
Thanks
from what I can see from the photo your screen is cracked
No its not cracked at all. Ill try and take a better picture.
To take a better image, use MyMobiler (although i do suspect it'll give the regular windows screen).
that certainly looks like a crack to me, it won't be really apparent if its on the back side
yeah that is for sure cracked, well unless you drew on the screen with a black marker. you do know that if you send a warranty phone in that has physical damage they charge you the cost of the replacement phone they sent you?
i tried using my Mobiler (which by the way ****ing owns) and i dont see anything wrong with the screen.

can anyone say ****? How the **** could i have cracked? (obviously u cant answer that). I already started the warrenty process. Any smart ideas?
ive read a few threads that screens will just crack sometimes without real damage. sorry man that sucks.
I appreciate everyones help. Maybe they will look past this small "crack". Do u think its possible to re flash the rom without a working screen?
yeah i suppose you could flash it but you won't be able to calibrate the screen, try it and then check my mobiler to see what is going on.
here is my next issue. I cant find the text file that i stored the original radio and rom version. What is the best OEM to go with? *im an att customer and i got this phone thru warrenty in may*

i haven't read through it but that should help.
The camera autofocus indicator is supposed to turn green and then the pic will be taken. This happened the day i bought the cell. I changed to different shoot options and it worked.
At night i installed world card mobile, used it to recognise a business card. the autofocus feature worked and it recognised perfectly. i tried again with the same card, but this time the app hung and i had to do soft reset. I didnt use the camera again till the next day.
And thats when i realised that the autofocus feature was no longer working. The camera will make the focusing noise, the screen gets brighter, the navigation wheel lights up, but the white brackets do not turn green. Instead they display a red cross.
Having searched the forums, i found a few threads describing the same symptoms, but no solution. Someone mentioned using the camera application 6.01 from BEPEs rom... that didnt work for me.
I have done a hard reset using the original stock rom, latest shaks rom and duttys rom and bepes 0.99d rom... No relief...
Stock
ROM - 1.93.720.2 WWE
date - 8/7/08
Radio - 1.00.25.07
Protocol - 52.29.25.12G
DIAM140 64M
SPL-1.93.0000
I have the 2g EDGE only diamond.
Its under warranty, hopefully they will replace the cell, but i would prefer if a solution could be found. If possible, can some one who doesnt have this problem upload their camera.exe? Or am i being naive in assuming that simply replacing the camera.exe will solve my problems?
Thanks in advance,
Amith
Well, since you already tried to hard reset your device (multiple times even) and still it doesn't work, then you surely can rule out that it's a software problem...
I think you broke it my friend
If I was you I should go to the store where you got it since you have warrenty and all... One tip: flash your phone to the original rom (the rom you had when you bought it). If they see another rom on it, they probably won't help you
I had flashed it to the stock rom from the htc india site in the morning. Went to the shop in the afternoon. Today being a holiday, the shop was closed. Came back disappointed. Tried taking pics with the camera throughout the day. The focus only showed a red cross and the pics were clearly out of focus... And then...
It starts working again! On its on. I mean, I was hopeful something like this might happen, so I was trying taking pics every hour or so. And all of a sudden, the autofocus is back on. I took some 15 pics one after the other, only 1 pic [somewhere in between, dont remember which one] displayed the red cross, but even for that pic, the focus was proper...
The phone has had the stock rom for some 10 hours now. I dont know what caused the problem or what rectified it... I think i will play with it for a few more days, if it happens again, am going back to the shop.
Strange, eh??

I guess miracles do exist
Hope it stays in a working state! But you should go to the shop nonetheless, having it checked out... while you still have warranty

Good point, 4got to mention that
as luck would have it, the autofocus aint working again... though there is some interesting news...
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=3273
as per the above link, the touch pro received a minor rom upgrade that includes fixes for
The display of TouchFLO 3D sometimes may appear cracked.
When taking a picture, the auto focus function may malfunction in some circumstances.
In some circumstances, the preview screen will become black after taking picture.
In some circumstances, the device may hang while loading TouchFLO 3D.

is it possible to somehow find out what the fix was? maybe someone with a touch pro could download the rom and post its camera.exe?? maybe i should start a thread in the touch pro forum pointing to this post and request help there? what do you guys feel?
i took the cell to the vendor, he couldnt figure anything out. he said i was the first one to present this problem to him. the only option left for me is to take it to the service center where it will remain for atleast a week as per the vendor
Auto focus Polaris
I do have the same problme as you do. I tryed several things to repare this autofocus problem, but nothing is working! I m really disapointed in HTC. If they cant make a good auto focus, why do they try it!! I can't make good photos anymore with my Polaris, so i hope that this(touch pro file) will help to create a solution. I will not bring my polaris back to Htc because i dont want to lose all my progs and files!! Please find a solution !!! If it is a hardware problem HTC SUCKS!!!
Thanks for all!!
So the phone (XT860 Bell) has problems when I unlock it the screen stays black. The phone works though cause when someone calls I can still pick up as I know somewhat where the green button is. But for the rest I can't do anything.
The only way to get the phone back is to remove the battery and restart the phone. Then it works again.
Anyone else had this problem?
have you tried hard resetting it?
No will do so. But before doing that I thought maybe there is some simple solution.
After the update to 2.3.6 things went all a bit wrong I think.
If you got this after the update, I am quite confident data wipe will solve your problem. You can try wiping cache only first - this way you won't lose your configuration and might solve the problem. The update supposedly wipes cache, but maybe that didn't work properly while you were updating. Enter stock recovery and give it a try.
Hey thanks for the help. But just did a reset. Not sure what went wrong when I did the update. Did wipe. Annnnyways. Right now it's stable. Let's see if it stays like this.
Ok sadly the reset didn't fix it. It took a whole day to go black again but still happened.
Any other solutions? I am scared that it's a hardware failure...but let's hope not cause I am in Holland.
I have the droid 3 and the same exact thing is happening to me. Sorry to tell you this but it has to deal wit the connector between the keyboard and screen. I've taken mine to get checked by a "phone doctor" and they told me that. I will tell you this now ,since it is still in the early stages, it's going to get worse to the point that it will stay black. Get it fixed by a techy or get a replacement soon. Mine reached it's point today and I am going to need to get it fixed. Hope it helps.

Doesn't sound good man :-(......
Though it happened a lot the passed days since the reset ( knock on wood) only once. Do wonder why it happens less now.
Yea you can reset all you want it's going to go blank. I had to right the dial pad numbers with marker on the screen just to make calls. I say get it fixed or replaced soon
I've got the same issue here. I know the thread is old, but I'm from the Netherlands (just like eezdva) and would like to know how to repair this.

If you can't take it back and want to try to fix it yourself you need to search for a droid 3 flex cable. The one you want has the front facing camera, front sensors and earpiece speaker on it. Then head on over to ifixit for a teardown guide (sorry no repair manual yet, I plan on working on one).
I have to add that taking this phone apart to replace this part is no small feat, and it would probably be better finding a phone doctor to do it for you, or just getting a new phone.
When you buy the part, request an OEM part, I have been sent cables where the front facing camera displays sideways, or doesn't work at all. Most also don't come with the front button deflector, and that has to be transferred from the old cable.
Hope this helps
Ok . Well I don't really know what the problem is. But it went away. Actually it started I think after applying the update . I got myself another external sdcard . At a certain moment I decided to remove it and things cooled down. It now actually never happens anymore.
Well I gues you're lucky!
My screen sometimes starts all scrambled and the phone doesn't power on. Sliding the screen a couple of time sometimes helpes, but most of the time I don't really know howto get the phone working again. I think it's more stable when I leave the phone 'slided out' (don't know the right word now).
And I searched Motorolas website and found 2 reparing companies in the Netherlands. They both are authorized by Motorola, as of such I think this repair will be in warranty.
I do have to send it for repair. I don't want to take it apart because of what bitz_dv said. I'll let you know!
No Fix
When I was gone on a short holiday my college got a call from the 'authorized' motorola repair center. They can't fix my phone. I need to pay 11 euro to get it back and that's it. I tried calling them but there was no answer.
I sended my phone in on 22 may 2012 and now they decided they can't repair it. I spoke to Ted from Negri Electronics who told me to get in touch with Motorola as my warranty is still valid.
I'm a little confused, where should I go if an official repair center can't fix my phone but do tell me the repair is within warranty..
What can I do? Besides ordering the parts and take the phone apart myself..
I started my search for the flex cable... I did repair a N97 once, within the warranty period and later on sended it in and they repaired it under warranty....
Is this the cable I'm searching for:
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Motorola-Droid-3-XT862-Motherboard-Flex-Ribbon-p/mot1040660.htm
I am from Netherlands, and have the same problem with the screen, looks like many users from Netherlands do.. coincidence?
When i jst slide out the keyboard , a little bit is enough, and the screen goes black ( black screen of death ) it doesnt power on with power button.
I looked for a flex cable at ebay, and it surprised me , that cable is also doing the front camera, and speaker... My front camera wasnt working too, and speaker made strange sounds many times, so it could be that cable, but not sure.
Check my thread, i have also uploaded a video to make it more clear

I have this issue that makes the photos taken in low light conditions (totally dark sometimes) with the flash on have a white and sometimes blue hue on the right side of the image. I don't have any case/ screen protector on the back side of my phone and the lens is absolutely clean. I've called the guys at Sony Xperia support and they told me to use the diagnostic tool to see if the camera and the flash were working and asked me to repair my phone with PC companion software update. Even after going through all of this there seems to be no change whatsoever Has anyone else had this problem with their xperia z1?
You have the same problem with the camera like many already reported.
Same here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2613386
I also had the same problem and like many said to me, I telling this to you, learn how to use the camera on the phone.
I know this seems rude and I agree with you and I also do not agree about that because I don't spend a lot of money to waste my time to set up the Camera properly to avoid white ghost on my pictures, specially when I use iAuto Mode.
So what is the main reason and problem here? Like I already said this many times, the flash is too close to the lens. Technically nobody can said I am wrong if I said that because all we know if the flash will be more distanced from the lens we will get better pictures. Not all the users have this problem too, let's clarified here.
Now the solution is just only one, with some options you can avoid that and try different method to avoid the white/blurry shadows on your pictures. Many posted different type of solution and different settings so I can suggest to you only one thing, try and find the right options by your self, good reason to understand how working the camera too.
thank you. Will see what the guys at the service center are going to say when i take my phone to them.
Took it to the service center where they told me that they would install the "Original" Software ( a thing only they would have according to them) and that it would take 2 DAYS to download it. they didn't even listen to me when i said that i repaired the thing with pc companion. Whenever i have a problem, these guys seem to think that flashing their ORIGINAL firmware would magically solve all the problems.
EDIT : Got a new phone after they replaced mine and even the new one has the same problem. Guess the person who decided not to put a flash in z ultra was a genius
Hello guys,
As the title says, I replaced my P880 screen because it had an awful crack on it. The thing is that after I changed it, back in my house I tried to take a picture, but it said that it couldn't connect to the camera, or something like that. This had happened to me before, so I restarted the phone and nothing, so after reading some blogs (no one exactly related to the camera problem) I decided to make a full wipe of my phone and restoring it to factory settings. Always hopefully, it didn't work so I realized that the guy who made the replacement might have forgotten to reconnect the camera socket (is that the correct name?), but I can't take it to the service center to get it fixed because they are closed on saturdays and I can't go on monday because I'm leaving the country for a few weeks.
So I was wondering if I can make this check in my house, which tools would I need and, the most important thing, what and where should I check that is connected to the mainboard.
Thank you very much in advance, really hope someone can help, as I need the camera :/
Check my repair thread in the general section. I list all the tools needed and am pretty sure you only need to remove the back plate covering the motherboard. The camera module should have a cable, follow it and make sure it is pressed in all the way.
sent from my amazingly awesome OnePlus One
don't forget to hit thanks!
