XOSP building error - Galaxy Note 3 Developer Discussion [Developers Onl

Hi everybody. I was trying to make work XOSP for our device. Even after the hard work of @nitin.chobhe, who did everything (really great job, man. Always thanks for all your work), there are various problem. First of all SIM card. I flashed the zip and SIM card is not recognized. I searched about it and I discovered that it's a common problem using cm repos in local_manifest, which are no longer updated. I saw @[email protected] and other devs solved with @temasek help. So he tried with temasek's repos, but he get this error:
Code:
device/samsung/hlte-common/gps/core/loc_core_log.cpp:134:15: error: constant expression evaluates to 4294967295 which cannot be narrowed to type 'long' [-Wc++11-narrowing]
Another problem is sdcard. It works, but media files on it are not automatically recognized, but if you open a file in sdcard, it being open.
There is also sound crack, but I think that it's the most easy to fix. I'll try flashing the audio-policy zip.
As for now these are the biggest bugs. I'll keep the thread updated. Again, thanks to @nitin.chobhe for his great work and support.
Ivan
EDIT 23 June 2016 - 11.27: Changing hlte-common repos back to cm's one it seems it worked. Dunno the final result. By the way audio problem is fixed, as I thought it was a problem with audiopolicy.so. Changed with Samsung's one and now sounds great.
EDIT 23 June 2016 - 12.18: Good news and bad news. Camera is fixed, battery life is alot better, phone is very smooth, no other heat problems, but SIM still doesn't work. EFS restore from TWRP didn't work. Will try some other methods.
EDIT 23 June 2016 - 12.36: Nothing to do. Even flashing latest modem and bootloader SIM is not recognised. I give up. Hope some other devs keep the project alive. Greetings

Well, unfortunately I don't have that build anymore, and btw now it's obsolete. Moreover, I don't have neither my Note 3 nor my building setup anymore. I'm now happy with OnePlus 3, where all the correct sources are out, and there are never problems compiling. Samsung devices are not that good for building cm-based ROMs IMHO, surely not for XOSP. I asked a famous dev in Note 3 CM section (I don't want to write his name) to try to compile it, and he said me he did, but he never released it (and maybe he never compiled it too), and he never answered my pm anymore. XOSP could be a great ROM for Note 3, but nobody cares about it, unfortunately
Hope someone will think about it.

[KANG] CM9 Atrix Test Build by wrldsuksgo2mars

I tried the latest build of CM7 done by the Atrix Dev Team and it is awesome. Very reliable, fully functional, etc. I figured I'd give a whirl to compiling the real ICS version to see what that was like.
CM9 build system with the appropriate Atrix Dev Team repos in place actually spit out a working ROM. There are a number of issues aside from the general preview state of CM9. I figured I would share them in case anyone else was as curious as me. Apparently, the internal atrix dev teams are well beyond these issues already, so kudos.
Probably related to CM/atrix specific stuff
- Camera and finger print sensor don't work
- Launcher crashes pretty often
- Some openGL demos don't seem to work right (or at all)
- No mounting the SD as USB storage
Probably related to the specific gapps package I used.
- Maps crashes after 3 seconds (signal 11 - native code crash)
- Maps wants to update, but it can't (sharedId conflict if you actually remove maps)
- Earth won't run (missing the earthmobile library)
- Google Voice Search bombs (signal 4 - illegal instruction - currently suspecting the native packages might have some NEON instructions that the atrix cpu doesnt support)
- Calendar will not sync for google or exchange. App loads, but the sync service is failing
- Lots of null pointer exceptions for the NFC stuff in the log.
Anyway, this is just a build of the code that's out there, nothing special done by me. It might be useful for a dev phone or something but not for use on a real day-to-day device. Obviously it doesn't have the google apps embedded in it.

Personally, I had trouble going back to CM7 afterwards, my clockwordmod backups were screwed up (bad boot.img? cross-linked files on the SD card) and I had a very hard time getting back to the good ole working state. Ultimately, I had to restore the partial backup and then reflash the CM7 image + gapps.
So, if you were curious what building a random repo on the web and installing it on your phone would do, then feel free to try and lose all of your data. There are no updates/support for this, etc. It's just a curiosity... what is the state of this stuff right now?
BTW... I am back on CM7/Atrix now which is AWESOME!!!!

Not sure how the dev team would react to this ..we do not want any bricked phones because of this ..there maybe some experimental dangerous code in there in those sources as of now ..not sure though
Hmm... figured since I spent quite awhile getting a build set up, it might be worth sharing. I am happy to take down if it is inappropriate.
Well I am not the best person to answer that ...but yeah thanks for your work.
Eh, I wouldn't be mad about it, but I think it needs more caution. I would just wait. As you say, it kindof screwed with a lot and wasn't very usable, so why flash it? Maybe ok for someone who wants to look at the code, but I wouldn't flash it.
Awesome news man. Thanks for being a lab rat and giving us an update.

Not so much take it down as change the title of the post.
the current internal atrix-dev-team cm9 is way further ahead of this, we have some different patches. this is missleqading as it makes it sound official and is not.
Could you please change the tittle to [KANG] CM9 Test Build by "your name"
and please link to the sources, as is proper practice for open source projects
thank you

[ROM][P6800][OnHold]Ubuntu-touch dev preview(18.03.2013)

I have put this project on hold for now. I flashed latest Austrian ICS build to my device and continue using it as my Kindle reader on my travels. IF somone manages to fix the two issues with kernel, send me a message and I'll continue working with the repository. But for now I'm not thinking nor touching the subject before Easter. Thank you for participating for now
I've started porting Ubuntu-touch dev-preview to the Galaxy Tab 7.7 (3g). If you do not understand it already, you flash this at your own risk. There is now also a Ubuntu-touch specific device page here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices/p6800. I'll try to keep this thread and the Ubuntu devices page as close to each other as possible.
Big thanks to Daniel_hk for helping with boot.img Now It can be booted, but the screen is still black
Also, without working wifi and display, the preview is basically unusable... Next steps should be these:
1. Get wifi drivers working.
2. Get display drivers working.

What works
Ubuntu-touch dev-preview is flashable.
It boots!
Known Issues
Kernel is based to the CyanogenMod/android_kernel_samsung_smdk4210, but it is a mess. So forked it, took code here and there (mostly from locerra's JB build).
Kernel is based 3.0.15 and no newer one available (yet).
Most of the drivers in kernel had to be turned off, because build was not succeeding...
bluetooth: Doesn't work
audio: Dock audio doesn't work.
hwcomposer: HDMI dongle doesn't work.
wifi: Doesn't work.
camera: Doesn't work.
.. and lot of kernel level bugs for sure.
Displaydrivers are not working (yet).
Release notes
Version 0.2 (13.03.2013) - Now it boots, see release notes
Version 0.1 (07.03.2013) - Intial release, nothing works

BIG THANKS to daniel_hk for solving the boot.img problem for me.

I cannot test it for anything else. The kernel sources are from CM10.1 that was in use from locerra, so in theory it should work with i815 and with p6810 as well. But I cannot give you any guarantees...
And also before I get this build to even start with my device, I do not think that sharing image would help anyone. But if you are a developer, I would like to talk with you on issues that I might have missed or done wrong. So contact me

Not much. The generated image is missing /data/ubuntu completely and that is the reason why the image does not boot. I got also flu and fewer, so I have had not that much time after the weekend to look on the issues on that.
I'm also waiting if I get any answers from Ubuntu touch emailing list regarding the problem and where to look for answers, but my quess is that it has something to do with the devices fstab file...
Good news everyone!
Just got a very good answer the problem I had with the /data/ubuntu-folder missing from the image. There was no image provided for the actual Ubuntu at all by the build-process...
When I get home from work, I'll try to find time to look into the build process if I can include the actual Ubuntu image to the ready made image and then release it after I get my device to boot. But it seems that I got the right nudge forward for this now :highfive:
Hmpf, still not booting. Now the /data/ubuntu logs are unmodified, which would point towards kernel or fstab-issue (ie. /data/ubuntu is never used...).

Doh... still not working... Any ideas anyone?
Ok, new version build from different repositories (thx, danile_hk for tip).
I'll test the new image this evening when I get back to home, and I have my fingers crossed that I can get the device to boot up and even display something useful. After that I can start looking for ubuntu developemnt
New version did not work, but then Daniel_hk gave me working boot.img. So now I need to find out what the heck is wrong with my repository and fix it so that I can get working boot.img from start and also the device configuration has issues. Both repositories are currently out of sync I'm afraid

It seems that I hit the wall (again) with the mentioned big issues.
For now, I keep some sabbatical from Ubuntu Touch things (ie. I flashed ICS Austria to my device) and use it as my Kindle reader again.
If by miracle I get more info regarding how to get the Kernel working with Ubuntu Touch, then by allmeans I continue working with this project. So far it just seems that making a working image, is out of my hands currently.
At least you had a go. Thanks for your efforts, and hope you might have another crack at it later on.
I'm feeling a little bit that way right now too, and put my ICS kernel on the back burner. I think I'm trying to multitask a little too much at times....
Yep, a break is what you need, maybe some clarity will come after you've had a chance to recharge.

Not much, I have had no interest to spend time with this topic because I have been very busy IRL. After I get my new house renovated fully and get my job tasks done, I wont be spending much time with this project. Feel free to use any sources provided in this thread to further advance the subject.
But this wont go forward that much, if the GT-P6800 wont get official CM10.1 update...

Nexus 7 Flo: WLAN doesn't work

Hi guys,
I've updated my Nexus 7 FLO to version 4.4.4-20140704-flo-NIGHTLY
After reboot the WLAN dies not work.
Is there an Kernel/driver issue?
Kind regards
Chris
Read commit comments here.
Problem is we're in the process of getting a new maintainer fully spooled up. There are various techniques device maintainers have available to them that need to be used for certain device maintenance tasks (like a full upstream merge) which aren't normally available to gerrit users.
Andre hasn't quite yet learned how to properly wield his newly-given powers. Specifically, the kernel tree really shouldn't be a fully squashed merge, but individual commits. He reverted the squash but the push of the individual commits failed last time he tried it. He went away for a few days around the same time pulser sorted his access, so the kernel is still backleveled.
I could fix this myself, but I want Andre to do this on his own so he knows how to do it going forward.
?
Sorry but I didn't understand this in detail. Only that some merges die not work.
Workaround for me was to install Franco Kernel.
Now WLAN works again.
May there are some more quality tests required before merge into nightlies?
Kind regards,
Chris

No, the issue is that we have a new maintainer that needs to learn some new maintenance techniques. Rather than push the fixes ourselves, we want him to do it, but he's on vacation for a few days.
Thanks for your answer. OK, wie all have to learn new technologies.

I just tried to install OmniRom on my Nexus 7 2013 (flo)
Once installed, it is not able to do wireless internet, which is a fatal error.
Will it be posted in this thread, or where should I look to know when this is corrected?
Thanks in advance, and sorry about the prior attitude. (long day)

When I last tried this about the 20th July wifi was still not working can anyone confirm its safe to update - I had to fall back to a month old image as I wasn't sure when the issue appeared..

Answering my own question I downloaded a Franco kernal as a precaution and tested it, happy to say the new maintainer has it well in hand by the looks as its all working OK
Okay there's something else going on, quite an odd one this...
After playing with some kernels WiFi stopped working - no great surprise, so I reinstalled the latest nightly that *was* working and now it doesn't ! Even after wipe of data / system install of month old (or latest) and I can't get anything from WiFi...
I've had to restort to using CyanogenMod as I can't seem to work out what's going on here !!!
Any ideas and I'm up for investigating - the only wrinkle is I'm currently using a multirom version of twrp but I'm not injecting it, so that shouldn't matter ?
Any ideas folks?
There's a fixed_wifi_boot.img that needs to be downloaded and flashed in the bootloader. If you've flashed a recovery before, it's similar. Just do "fastboot flash boot fixed_wifi_boot.img" in the right directory.

What does this file actually do?
Will it prevent other ROMs such as CyanogenMod or kernels using googles official binary blobs from working?
Can it be undone ?
Where is the file?
Tia
The file is in the same location where you downloaded the OmniROM nightly. As for conflicts between other ROMs/kernels, I'm not sure. I imagine there's an official boot image somewhere that can be flashed, maybe Google's stock images install it.

I agree this message is a bit long but it is worth reading.
- Thanks, but sorry. Even if I give you the links and even if spend your precious time you would only be able to fix the error 7.
- Actually I've already fixed that(or know what's the issue atleast). There are files that are missing from the directories that are listed in the updater script. They cannot be deleted as the original base ROM I compiled was from UA(unlegacy android) that are based on the newer sources.
- Some files that are required for MIUI are also missing.
- Boot.img is incomplete. Which will result in bootloop even if I upload the error 7 fixed ROM.
- I am giving my board exams that are one of the biggest exams in India. And I cannot afford to score less in these.
- All I need is a older base ROM ,CyanogenMod 11 made around may of 2016. And also it must support init.d because the port ROM requires that.
- I've taken permissions from the maker of the port ROM. He has allowed me to proceed.
- All I need is permission from Android-Andi, as only he has older CM ROMs.
- I cannot compile because older sources are not available or maybe I am not known to them
Hope you understand. Thank you.
P.S. - Android-Andi if you read this please reply. You are the only one who can help me(by providing me permissions to use your ROM as a base).
With best regards,

- I've taken permissions from the maker of the port ROM. He has allowed me to proceed.
- All I need is permission from Android-Andi, as only he has older CM ROMs.
- I cannot compile because older sources are not available or maybe I am not known to them
Hope you understand. Thank you.
P.S. - Android-Andi if you read this please reply. You are the only one who can help me(by providing me permissions to use your ROM as a base).
With best regards,
Kunal Gautam

Have you seen this CM 11? https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2/7-inch-development/rom-cm-11-0-galaxy-tab-2-t3737392
Just made last month by @Deltadroid
Links are removed because *the ROM is not complete yet*.
Thanks, but I need to confirm a few things before I could use a ROM(includes init.d support and a bunch of other things). Also, it is very important that deltadroid provide me permission to use his ROM.
Thank you!
Regards,
KG
-----_edit_--------
I just saw deltadroid's thread, the title clearly says that the ROM is for p3110. I want to make a unified one. I need a ROM made with unified device tree.
If I do port, it will only work on p3110 and maybe on every 7" device. I don't want do this.
Sorry, but yeah thanks!
Just wait till 3 april 2018. Most probably I will upload.
Edit 2
Or I must say it an update. 75 percent of the work is done. Somehow I managed to get a base ROM(only I know how). Only build.prop editing and Updater script editing work left(these are the most difficult BTW).
Update coming soon. Stay tuned.
I've updated the links. I've uploaded the new ROM. I've done with porting(i guess). I've used a lot of time.
Flash and review!

No wonder the ROM doesn't work.... Security patch is in a wrong format.
"ro.build.version.security_patch=2080-17-March"
It should be, "ro.build.version.security_patch=2018-03-01"
or,
"ro.build.version.security_patch=2018-03-05"
And this, hardly doubt this will work, but idk.
"ro.build.date.utc=999999999999"
Mistakes....................
EDIT**** Build id should be the app id: example lets say the id is 678, on build.prop, it would say 678.
you have, "ro.build.id=KUNAL"

You, sir, definitely have a lot to offer. I am afraid that this is not the actual problem. By now, I surely understand the importance of logs. Would be very helpful if someone could arrange me them.
And about your post it seemed really rude, raw, insulting and manipulating to me. But however, helpful. It makes it really hard to continue developing for a 6 years old Tab, with hardware that has nothing to offer in 2018. At least, I am trying.
Since, this was an Alpha build(because I moved sources) these problems are sure to arise. I did the same(build.prop things) with my kinda successful ROM MIUI 5(see it in the 7" forums).
I guess you haven't tasted port ROMs yet. They are hard to build. Alike your compiling ones, you have source, type some commands, turn your computer on for about 5 hours, when done upload it.
I am sure you must have did trail and error (in chemistry and math) porting ROMs is just the same. I am sure, that as a developer, you must know what logs actually mean.
But whatever, thank you for you review(insult I guess).

Sorry, I won't give permissions after different people used my ROMs as base in the past without permissions. Hope there is a learning affect....
Since i love OpenSource: Sources are available on every official GitHub (slim, Omni, Lineage, UA) and up to date (note: I wouldn't have to do this, I could keep all device trees private but I am updating them for everyone - always). You'll have to compile your own base ROM to use for such port ROMs (I am not a fan of).

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL][T815][T810][T715][T710][8.1] AOKP Oreo

I made this ROM to test my build environment and I thought I would share it with the community in case someone finds it useful.
Find out more about AOKP here: https://aokp.co/
Sources:
Base ROM: https://github.com/aokp
Device trees and kernel: https://github.com/Exynos5433
My thanks to ripee and the exynos5433 team for supporting this tablet. Check out his thread for LineageOS which contains installation instructions and useful utilities which are also applicable to AOKP. https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/development/rom-lineageos-15-1-t3879302
Here is what you've been waiting for https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=296203
AOKP has Lineage SU baked in. If you prefer another root solution or don't want root then flash this immediately after flashing the ROM. https://mirrorbits.lineageos.org/su/addonsu-remove-15.1-arm-signed.zip
Heres a new build: latest upstream changes and security update

thanks.
good to see t815 getting some love
Bug Wifi
With this last rom the wifi connection doesn't turn on, do you have the same problem? What should i do guys?
New builds being uploaded, now also available for the other tab s2 variants.
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=296203
Flashed (clean) the latest for 715. I don't see any errors and all is working well... I use WiFi only so I can't confirm cellular data.
Google photos keeps crashing on T815
Google photos keeps crashing +1
T715Y
others work good by now.
Thanks a lot!
Select Google apps package without photos app and install it from play store. Works here! On 715.
Google Photos crashing seems to be an issue with opengapps. If you install the update to Photos from the Play Store, it starts working again.
How different is the T815 variant to the T815Y variant? I have a T815Y, am I able to use this ROM?
I have been using this as a daily driver for my 815 since your first build. thanks @Inkypen !
i took the liberty of forking your roomserice, i wanted to try to make an all in one build. not working so far, the remove frameworks av, didnt work.
ill keep digging. cheers
Tried flashing for the T810 and get error "E3004: This package is for device: gts210wifi,gts210wifixx; this device is ." and it fails.
Edit: Probably has to do with the old TWRP I use. Doesn't support newer versions, so I just edited the updater-script and it worked fine.
