Hi,
I have a problem with the screen: the image is smaller than the screen.
The unit is: Seicane/ MTCB-KLD2-V2.81/ARM Cortex-A9 @1.6GHz (x4)/ rk3188-eng4.4.4 27112015/Kernel [email protected]#1704
The problem can be seen in the photos attached.
The story is:
-Initially I had a problem with the system sounds (touching any button triggered a sound). I tried to reduce the volume from factory settings. the unit didn't kept the settings. They sent me the first update img file. It didn't solve the problem.
-They sent a 2ndimg file that solved the sound problem but the image shortened.
-The 3rd update img file still didn't solved the screen problem.
At the 2nd update I chose to wipe data and format flash. Probably that was what caused the image problem.
Now if I check the resolution, this is 480x800. On their website (seicane SKU: 118328 Model:S168073) it says HD 1024x600.
I rooted the 2nd update version with Kingroot and used an app to change the resolution: it changed it but with the same dimension of the image (only icons size changed)
I would need something to stretch the image over the whole screen.
Any ideeas?
Thanks.

I have another question. If I do a Factory Reset, will I be able to restore it with the update file provided by the Seicane team? Or I need the mcu also? Can I use an Kld mcu downloaded from internet?
Hello/Salut Bogdan.
The problem it appears to be that they have sent you the wrong firmware. You have allready requested them a Rom to solve your first issue and they have sent you the firmware with problem solved but for the lower resolution device model. I guess that they did this intentionaly beacuase it is a bug that they are still working on it and it is not yet fixed for your version of resolution.
The MCU is the kernel, do not mess with it, do not flash new one ! Wiping data will affect only the rom (not the MCU).
My personal recomendation is to download the Malaysk rom (for your resolution 1024x600) and install that one. It works very well.
Or you cand wait a bit longer for the seller to provide you with the correct screen resolution Rom.
OK. Thanks. I'm gonna try to update the software again with the last -3rd- update they sent. But this tine I'm going to wipe the data from flash. If it doewn't work I'll use what you suggested.
I've tried again Seicane s image. It didn't work. Than I've installed the 1024x600 Malaysk...and Hurray!! Now I'm configuring it. Hope this image is stable.
Thanks.

Glad to hear it worked. Please remember to wype data in recovery menu after it installs (two times to be sure) beacuase this Rom resizes the system partition and you need to clear data from recovery. Otherwise it will boot but you will have problems with it.
Best regards!
I did it exactly like Malaysk said. 2 times and wiped data.
What was interesting: it didn't have Google navigation installed. I had to install it from Google Play.

The noise when touching any button isnt a "problem" its a setting - in settings/sound you just uncheck the box that say sound on keypress.
The problem was that the unit didn't "remember" that I unchecked the box. And the sound is annoying for me.

Ah, right, I ve not heard of that before, not remembering radio stations and the time, yes, but not forgetting the sound box is unchecked.
Yes. Anyway, it was real disappointment to see how their engineering team wasn't capable of making the difference between resolutions. 3 no updates with the same wrong resolution, after explaining them what is happening and after I sent them photos and videos with the problem. They kept assuring me that the problem is solved in the new update etc.
Good thing with Internet nowadays and people that use their time to help others.
Thanks.

If youre referring to Seicane, then you werent speaking to an engineering team - Seicane are just a seller, selling Klyde units, you d have to speak to Klyde if you wanted to speak to the hardware engineering team (find them on Alibaba) or MTC if you want to speak to the software engineering team, but no one knows anything about them other than their name, its long been rumoured that theyre based in India.
Latest updates for MTCB units are on the fileserver (see my signature) listed by resolution and processor type.
It seems that I need to ask you again about the unit.
Yesterday I was looking to find how to have as default the Music app from android for the music files on an USB. Currently, the mp3's from usb open only with ES File Explorer app. And it doesn't play the folder, only one melody at a time.
Looking through the settings I found "Do not show the icon on boot". I activated the setting.
Next morning, the unit started as usual, BUT the screen is not responsive to touch. I rebooted...same problem. I entered the boot menu and chose to wipe data and clear cache...same problem.
It shows everything on the screen: all the icons, it shows the speed of the car in the Circle, it show how it connects to Wi-Fi, to GPS etc. It just doesn't respond to touch and I can't access anything.
Before I go with full re-flashing of the unit, I'm asking if anyone has had this problem with Malaysk image.

I would suggest that your USB drive is not showing up in filemanager for some reason and thats why the built in music player isnt playing them, what USB port are you using ?
Connect a mouse to the front USB and you ll be able to access stuff, do a factory reset and see if that brings back your screen, when was the last time you updated your MCU ? what MCU are you on now ?

I've never changed the MCU (MTCB-KLD2-V2.81). The only thing I did was to flash a new image from Malaysk that solved the resolution problem. And it work very well until I changed that setting yesterday.
If I use the File Manager app I can see the USb and the mp3 in it. Just when choose to play them it just plays the file chosen with ES File Explorer and not with Music app. Looking through settings, I found somewhere to choose the app for media player and it was Music. But the unit just didn't want to play the mp3's with it.
After wipe/clear data from boot menu it didn't restart with the Car Mode launcher but with the launcher that has 2 rectangles on Home page (1 with speed and 1 with the date).
It seems odd that everything works (show speed, shows connection, it even appear a message to rate the app), but I can't do anything as the touch doesn't work.
I'm hoping it's not hardware (touch screen), but software.

My MCU is from 25 October 2015. In the server files from your signature I found the last one from 15 Feb 2015.
I know there are more launchers to choose from. And initially I chose the one with Circle and the list of app shortcuts in the centre.
I'll re-install the ROM again to see if it's solving the "untouchable" screen.

Try the MCU first, October is way out of date, your ll need a more up to date one with Lollipop :

I do not quite understand you're issue.
If you swipe from left to right (in music app) your USB drive is showing up?
Or, you can see files in music app but they are not play-able?
1st problem was the music: mp3 files from usb were getting opened only with ES File Explorer. Music app didn't open them automatically. I opened Music app and tried to upload the music in a playlist but I couldn't find how to do it. So, my idea was that if I change the default app that plays mp3 files (because I was thinking that maybe it is not Music app the default one) to Music app, than the mp3 files will be automatically played by the Music app. While I was checking this setting, I found another setting that said "Remove icon from boot" or something similar. And I ticked it. After that the screen was non-responsive. ... which was the 2nd problem.
Today I flashed the last ROM from Seicane. It reversed back to the small screen (800x400), BUT now I have a responsive screen. Everything works- at least I'm happy that the unit doesn't have a hardware problem.
I am going now to flash the Malaysk ROM again, so I can have the 1024x600 screen.
For me it seems a bit complicated this Malaysk version. It looks nice, but I like things simple and reliable. Somewhere on this forum I found somebody talking about "Bondooroc" (??????) ROM. I can't find anymore as I can't remember the correct name. Is it better than Malaysk?

Hey everybody,
i know there alot of nook users that use Read it Later (Now called "Pocket").
Since they changed to the new name it cant be installed on your nook from the android market.
i think they discontinued the android 2.1 support.
I have opened a ticket at their support system to get it back on the nook
If you want this too or just want to help me to get it back,
please leave a reply on the ticket
http://support.readitlaterlist.com/...android-21-for-older-devices-or-ebook-readers
Thank You!
Could you pull the necessary files from a Nook that has ReadItLater currently installed?
Failing that, I would email 'Pocket' support and ask for the application. You might get it. It was available publically only hours ago, how strict could they be?
i have thought about that too (add the files here) but i only have the pro version.
I dont think its allowed to publish the apk from a paid app ?! but i dont know, if iam wrong correct me
Yes it now requires 2.2.
Although it never worked properly on my nook anyway. Had some serious scrolling problems. When scrolling down by swiping the screen it would often move in the wrong direction. I had the same problem with the IHT app by the way.
Have a look at the Readability thread in this forum. Maybe that is for you. Its what I am doint at the moment.

Grr. Old app no longer syncs
Wasn't going to complain too much not to get the "pocket" rebrand since readitlater was still working fine... but now it isn't. Can't download any of my articles (though it can see they are there). They must have changed the system to no longer be compatible with the old version.
New ticket here (url broken to see if I'm allowed to post it, I'm a bit noob round here)

Free registration at instapaper.com, free app. from google market "Read later for Instapaper" (author Capone) plus official bookmarklet from instapaper.com for browser which adds current page to the reading list. I almost happy with this solution.
Cons: no images, font is horrible and i see no way to change it, you need to refresh the list manually to download new articles, don't use full screen mode because it will hide options button at the top of your nook. Cheers

Capone's "Read Later for Instapaper" has been removed from the Google Play store. Presumably because it no longer syncs (the spinner spins, but makes no progress) and if you clear data and try to set it up again, the (correct) username and password aren't accepted. Presumably Instapaper have blocked it from logging into an account that doesn't have a $1/month subscription attached (the API is only open to third-party apps if the account does so). The official paid Instapaper app doesn't require the subscription, but requires Android 2.3.3.
Has anyone got a copy of an older version of the official Instapaper app that still runs on Android 2.1?
EDIT: I've found Laters which works on Android 2.1 on the Nook, so I think I'll switch back to Pocket.
I read today that Pocket is now available for the Kobo reader. May be is it possible to use the kobo version on our NST?

There is an option to increase or decrease the text size in the menu when reading Push Text Style on the menu. You can also choose Article view or full web page view in th options.
Readitlater seems to be the best option right now. It is possible to scroll with the nook buttons by enabling "Volume rocker scrolling" in the Readitlater settings. You have to go into Nook Touch Mod Manager and set your hardware buttons to Volume up and Volume down, but fortunately the keys still work fine in reader apps when set like this.
Newer version
This is the 1.3 version. I 've tested it, it works pretty good and has the "volume rocker" option too. Only minus is that if you map hardware keys to volume up and down, while they work well with read it later they don't work with stock reader
Also sometimes you swipe to scroll down but it scrolls up (weird bug..)

I was very excited when I got the pop up notification of a system update available on my phone. I dug around online to try and find a changelog with no luck. So I decided to pull the trigger anyway and see if it fixed any of my main frustrations with the phone.
There are 3 things that should be a simple update to fix yet none of the 3 were included.
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858043
Ability to change default homescreen. I like having screen 2 as the default so I can page left for utility apps/widgets and page right for music/play apps/widgets. Apparently the homescreen furthest left is always the default. Every other launcher I have ever used has let you specify which homescreen you want to be the default.
2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815915
I spent the $50 or so for the desktop dock since I use my phone as my alarm clock on my nightstand. EVERY time I plug the phone it (set to bedside clock to launch as default) it comes up with an error that smartdock has stopped working. I shouldn't have to revert to an old version of the Google store as a workaround, a system update should have fixed this!
3) Phone/Notification ring volumes are independant with no way to link together. (couldn't find a reference thread)
When I use the volume rockers on the side of the phone it adjusts only the incoming call ringer volume, not the notification volume. If I want both to be loud or both to be quiet I have to pull down the notification bar, tap the settings icon, tap the sound icon, tap volumes and adjust both, which can not be done silently as the ringer plays as you adjust them! THIS IS NOT CONVENIENT AT ALL!!! My old Atrix 4g had the option to link the 2 together which makes the most sense! Again, this should be a simple option to add with a patch.
I know these are little things in the big picture, but the fact that a patch was pushed out and failed to address any of them leaves me very frustrated. Apparently the only thing that seems to have changed with a 70+mb update is a new camera icon.

Sorry to hear that the update didn't live up to your expectations. For your first problem though, I would recommend an alternative launcher. The most popular ones used for ICS and above are Apex Launcher and Nova Launcher (I personally use Nova Launcher Prime, the paid version of Nova).
Just for clarification - you were in the soak test for this update, correct?

Well I guess that's the beauty of Android isn't it. I can download an alternate launcher, find an app to fix the volume thing and roll back to a previous version of the app store and all will be well. Guess it's time to do some "customizing".
If I am part of the soak test it would be news to me. All I know is while I was at work yesterday afternoon I got a pop up saying an update was available. I can't remember if I signed up for anything like beta testing or not.

If you opted in to the Motorola Feedback Network on the Motorola forums, then you are most likely a part of the soak test which is currently testing the update.
Hmm, I went to try my usual logins on the motorola forums page, found out I had only part way registered. It new my username/password but took me to an "edit your profile page" that allowed me to opt in to the Feedback Network. Apparently I hadn't done that before. Also I didn't have any devices registered there. Doesn't look like I got signed up for the soak test that way.
I spent a few minutes playing with 3rd party launchers and found out that the circles widget does not work with non stock launchers. I have come to really like the simplicity of the circles widget. I'll have to decide if a non-optimal default homescreen is worth the hassle to keep the circles widget.
I also tried to revert to an older version of google play music, but can't get it back to the version mentioned in the desktop dock crashing thread.
Downloading a free app called cVolume seems to have linked the phone/notifications volume.
So for now I am 1 for 3 on getting things straightened out. Maybe we will get the JB update soon and all of this will become a moot point...

Can you tell what has changed in the new update?
Don't get me wrong, the update didn't make anything worse. In fact I have noticed a few things running more smoothly.
My frustration comes from the update seemingly ignoring the minor complaints I have with the software. I was hoping the update fixed the things that bother me and it didn't do that.
Still the phone is a great phone and I plan on keeping it for a while.

I guess you tried to reboot the phone with nothing attached to the usb port but sd card in ?
My phone has never touched a computer until last night when I flashed back to 77.10.16 in hopes of fixing the problem. No go. I read online in a number of places stating that certain phone companies are locking sd cards if it's in during an ICS update. Sadly, this was a class 10 32gb sandisk and it seems like I'll be needing a new one.

Hello, I'm on Cromi-X and running the Sixaxis app and a PS3 controller. I have no problem with the basic functionality - it works just like it does on all my other Asus tablets. However, I have found one kind of big bug and I was hoping someone else could check this for me on their systems. The problem I'm having is a crash every time I try to open up a background image to make a touch profile. This is the "Change Background" button under the "edit touch profiles." Every time I select "Change Background" it crashes (actually it says Unfortunately...has stopped), it doesn't drop back to desktop, only to the previous menu level in the program.
I can build a touch profile, drop buttons and joysticks and it will work, but it's very much trial and error process without being able to import a screenshot to overlay while you are working. Has anyone else seen this? I tried uninstall, re-install, closing everything else, etc. I've been searching and cannot find anyone else posting about this type of crash (on any system) so I wonder if it is something unique to the TF701T or maybe Cromi-X (I'm on Deodex 6.1 and love the rom). I am hoping that I am not the only Sixaxis user running Cromi-X 6.1 at the moment. Note that you do not have to have a controller on or paired to test this - you can create profiles without needing a controller. Thanks in advance.
Hello friend.
I was running your setup exactly... however I've never tried to create a touch profile. As you, I did find that everything else worked properly on that ROM with sixaxis. It's a great ROM! If I decide to flash back to it, I'll give it a shot and let you know. Sorry I can't help.

Note that you do not have to have a controller on or paired to test this - you can create profiles without needing a controller. Thanks in advance.

I've never used it before but it seems to work for me. Not sure if I am doing it right
Main Screen Select
Menu > Preferences > Touch Emulation > Edit Touch Profiles
Then Double tap for menu > Change Background
I have an option for either Gallery or G+Photos and I select Gallery then I find the image and it's good.
Gallery version is 5.1.20131213 which is the Asus stock version (I think)
Did you maybe change your screen resolution? I am no the default.
You know what, I think your reply might have helped me figure out the problem. I don't see gallery installed and maybe this program is calling it. I'll look back, but maybe the 6.1 version of Cromi-X has it on the removed app list. I'm traveling, so it might be hard for me to restore it, but I will definitely give that a shot when I get back home next week. Thanks for the help.

Download the apk from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53816421
Seems sixaxis needs the gallery.... and sbdags removed it. He just doesn't remember why
Yes, that fixed it. Weird. Thanks.

Not that weird. Devs tie their apps into an existing eco system. Why not use services that are installed by default instead of duplicating it? We custom rom users are a tiny minority among Android users. So we'll always have to find our own solutions. Which is part of the fun, right?

He does now! It's because Asus called it called Asus Studio (not gallery) which is more than just a gallery but is full on picture editing (bloatware)
Anyway - you can also add it back in via the asus spps installer as well via post two of the CROMi-X 6.1 thread

Nov. 9th Build
Bugs I've noticed so far:
1. "CM Bug Report" crashes... lol kind of funny
2. SD card is readable from file man, but not from Gallery and Music
Things I have noticed:
1. Battery life is pretty good.
2. GPS is currently working and works well.

Agreed, I was pleasantly surprised.
I've flashed it a couple times, along with last night's build, and I haven't been able to restore apps and settings from Google Play. The Tap prompt is there, it just didn't do anything once I kicked it off. I also tried just signing into my account but I was never prompted to restore.
I also noticed that Screen Search (old Now on Tap) isn't set up by default. You have to enable it in the Google Search app, then enable Settings > Buttons > Home long press action > Search assistant.
For some reason, the home long press is set to 'Recent apps switcher' by default, which is pretty redundant.
Oh, almost forgot: the initial build didn't provide any indication on the screen when the phone was charging. The notification LED changed to yellow but nothing on the battery icon or the lock screen. The Nov 11 build fixed it.

I have never had the Now on Tap function work unless i enabled it through settings. Only on CM that is.
I didn't even notice the display not showing a charging status. I just go by the light to tell me if its charging lol
The only thing I really care about is the SD card being read correctly.
This is great. How is the stability and day to day usage?
Also does it include t-mobile WiFi calling? I read somewhere that, Google pixel includes the WiFi calling for t-mobile built in.

It doesn't seem to like sdcards > 32 GB. I tried to format one as portable storage and it got formatted as FAT32. I then formatted it as adopted, which seems to work so far, but the device storage shows "-60.52 GB used of 29.12GB". This is a 128 GB that worked fine with CM 13.0.
I've tried the November 11th and November 12th nightlies and the microphone didn't work on either. Otherwise it's working great Is anyone else having this issue?

Yes, I noticed it wasn't responding to my voice yesterday after I flashed the Nov-12 nightly. It had been working on the Nov-09 nightly.

It keeps complaining the my 128gb sdcard is corrupted and wants to format it. When I swap over to my MXPE, the sdcard mounts just fine. I can also access it on my PC.
Currently I have my card set as portable and formatted as NTFS.
I cant get my sd card read at all from apps still even on 11/13 build. also most apps wont install for me haha. so looks like im back on 11/09 build for now.
I don't know whats going on. First attempt had "No SIM". Second, everything working. Third, No SIM again.
The first attempt was upgrading from CM13.
Second, clean install after flashing the stock KDZ. (Cant be replicated.)
The third time I cant get it to work whatsoever, another clean flash from 20p Stock KDZ.
Issue is no baseband. dont know what to do.
After more experimentation I found that SuperSU (SR3) was the issue. Confirmed
Trying later versions. SR4 doesnt resolve the issue. NO root other than CM root
Other issues:
-SD card is not useable without root access in the file manager.
-Device encryption does not work. Cant be undone without stock recovery.
-Current version of TWRP is not equipped to handle encryption, No Crypto Footer, No CSI Structure, etc.

Same for me, any one been able to gain root access for this?
CM has a built-in root. I believe it's under the Developer menu (my G4 is in the shop so I can't check it now.)
No working camera, and it broke any app that uses the camera. This is a clean install. Constant app crashing. Everything from keep (the most common) to bug reporting. Tried every nightly. The most recent nightly (12.01) sent my phone into a recovery boot loop that couldn't be fixed by doing a complete wipe and restore, or a complete wipe and clean install. So at the moment my phone is bricked and ABD/fastboot won't recognize on my computer anymore. Can't even get it recognized in odin anymore.
I know there are a lot of changes going on at CM inc, so I should have waited until a full release was available. Completely my fault for trusting nightly software from a folding company.
lgh811 running the 14.1-20161130-nightly-h811
I did the standard cyanogenmod update as you would for any nightly update and this seemed to go well.
What works with no fiddling:
phone
texting
camera
wifi
user profile switching
works after fiddling
adaway - for this I had to install root explorer and mount r/w so adaway could modify the host file. The builtin file manager would not let me browse my 32 gig memory card at all.
Whats not working
cm bug reporter
Google play services
app notifications (facebook, email)
Weather underground had to be reset and the area where Weather Underground puts its data is blank as is the lock screen notification.
Oddly enough, email works. I'm not sure, but I thought google play services had to be working for me to recieve email on the standard gapps email.
Anyone still perusing this thread, don't try to go to cm14 from cm13 via the update path on your phone. I cleanflashed my phone with the December 2nd nightly and a current version of gapps and now the only problem I have is cm bug reporter (or cm updater, I forget which). GPS is slow to respond sometimes, which is something new. But that only happened in lyft.
I've not been able to find original sources for "AA MIRROR", but have found someone's copy of something called "AA MIRROR PLUS" and have installed that:
Is the plus version a different product or new name for it?
Where can you go to always download the latest APK?
I also installed the latest version of "Phenotype Patcher" (rather than the version the instructions mentioned) which I found at "https://github.com/Eselter/AA-Phenotype-Patcher/tree/master/app/release".
I gave it a quick test (on my Ford SYNC 3 display) and my main issue with it is that it doesn't lock the screen orientation (I won't be looking for other issues unless I can solve this one). In portrait mode, the screen is too hard to read, seems I'd want to FORCE landscape mode (no matter how I drop/prop the phone)
Is this something you have to do separately outside of the mirror app?
I followed the instructions and changed AA MIrror Plus' "Screen rotation" and "rotation degree" to FORCE 90, whatever that means? Where can I find that out? I also tried other variations that also didn't seem to do anything.

AA Mirror Plus have some additional settings for screen but it doesn't work so it doesn't matter which one you install. Screen orientation was working fine in Android Oreo. In the Pie version there is a problem with these settings. Maybe not on all systems but I experienced this based on many tries on my Note 9.
Another issue is that on Samsung phones with Pie there is a problem with screen mirroring (black screen issue) and there is another version of AA Mirror to support ScreenStream all to solve that issue (you can find detail info on separate XDA thread).
In terms of orientation issue I just put the shortcut on launcher desktop to change the orientation manually (force landscape or vertical one). I created it using Tasker app (you can find it in Play Store). The same for restoring screen size and density (another icon prepared in Tasker to restore normal settings when the screen is dettached from car system).

I've got the that exact problem as I've the Note 9 with Pie! I've been searching around the place the last week or so and haven't been able to find anything except this reference to the solution. Could you please do me a favour and pass on the link for the solution? I would appreciate it so much. Thank you!
If i would be using aamirror with screenstream on note9 with pie on it, would i still have touch functionality on the car's touchscreen? I guess not?

Yesterday i installed aa mirror and aa mirror plus with my oneplus one Pie. i had the same issue with the plus version so i changed to the normal version and it worked fine for me (orientation - force 90º degrees).

Yes, of course. I have exactely the same config (as you know from other thread as we discussed ) - means: AA Mirror with ScreanStream on Note 9 with Pie and touch on the screen of car system is working with no problem at all.

The solution for that black screen issue on Android Pie is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78548457&postcount=383
In short words: you need modified AA Mirror (available from the link above) and ScreenStream app.
Regards!
The problem with Screen Stream is sadly the long latency time.
Hope that there will be a fix for pie in the future, so we don't need that sh*t any more and still use the phone without this lag.
I am using a U11 and Pixel 3aXL, it mirrors just fine but the touch screen does not work in the apps or the native launcher. Anybody have this issue and if so, what fixed it?
Thanks in advance.
