So today i turned my P9 (eva-l19) on, and i noticed something was off, first thing i notice is the sim signal indicators, now, even when connected to wifi they show 4G and 2G symbols, never happend before (attachment "0.png").
So, i start investigating in the mobile data menu to see if my phone is planning on using data on my second sim (which doesnt have a data plan), and luckily it didnt, but i notice that most of my settings (apn excluded) in that menu are changed, carrier aggregation was off, mobile data always on was turned on, instead of off, but the most strange thing is the default network type (basically there are a lot of options instead of 4G/3G/2G, 3G/2G, 2G). None of this options work btw. (i cant choose any actually, it just goes to automatic; only Global and below work).
(attachments "1.png", "2.png", "3.png", "4.png")
automatica means automatic
solo means only
globale means global
senza means without
preferita means preferred
Some other settings were modified, such as my battery indicator (it didnt have the % anymore), and my battery saving options (it was set to intelligent, instead of performance). Also my display time out was set to the default one.
For now i haven't found anything else and i really hope i wont.
This is really strange and annoying behaviour, as i didnt do anything that could have triggered such an event (no resets or anything), i really dont understand, i hope its the first and also last time it happens.
Anyone had the same thing happen?
Did you recently get a firmware update?

No, i didn't get any firmware updates, the last one i got was when i first turned on the phone, a month and a half ago :/
It's really strange behaviour, but i got an hypothesis going: i think the phone somehow acquires the location through the phone network, and displays the options related to that country, but in my case it failed, and glitched out. In fact, some of the extra network options that work are related to US networks (at least i think, EV-DO is a Verizon technology, which is US carrier if im not mistaken).

Same thing happened here!
It all started when i switched to 2nd SIM card for more data (both my SIMs has some limited ammount). I noticed, that Im running out off battery, so i switched battery saving mode from Performance to Intelligent. It didn't help much, my phone dies anyway. When booted, the story was same as yours...
Lots of various settings were changed:
-carrier aggregation was off
-battery indicator (% inside battery icon was gone)
-system sounds turned on (dialer, keypress, lock, and screenshot)
-all ringtones reseted to default
-all my defined alarms ringtones reseted
-display time out set to default
-default network type (basically there are world wide options instead of 4G/3G/2G ; 3G/2G ; 2G)
and the MOST ANNOYING: 4G/2G symbols in notification bar!
Conclusion:
It seems, that P9 modem/radio settings is somehow corrupted. Check attached screens..
Btw: noki57oo did you figure out, how to get rid of 4G, 2G symbols on your device?
Anyone else: Any idea, how to deal with this strange issue? Before I will do the Factory reset..
Same thing happened to me today. All I did, I have decided to restart my phone after few hundreds hours on stand-by.
All settings you've mentioned been set to default and more annoyingly, the icon of current network persists in status bar.
Only good thing is, I can now force the phone to use 4G only in network settings, haha.

I just did a speed test with a 100K file and look how bad the results were:
36kb/sec
2.367 latency
22.066 d/l
Please advise!
Them's GPRS speeds.
What signal do you have?
Does your network support HSDPA?
Even if they do, is it enabled on your contract?
Speeds are affected by an awful lot more things than just what phone you have.... like how busy your network is in the area you're in. the more people online, the lower the speed you'll get.
Seems to me, you may just have a GPRS signal.
crap! I'm just on hold calling Orange now, just upgraded my call-plan so maybe HSDPA has not been activated yet...?
Just spoke to Orange and they said that as my sim card was only activated yesterday at 5:30pm, it's possible that 3G is not yet working on my sim even though it shows up as activated on their system. So I need to wait until tonight, then test again...
Any other Orange users have this happen to this? How annoying.
it's fairly normal.
The sheer amount of systems that need to be updated to get everything working is staggering.
It took t-mobile 3 days to get everything working correctly on my SIM.
It's normal in the UK sadly, just be patient and it will come.
I just spoke to another guy from Orange and he said that it should have been transferred by now and that I need to take the battery whilst the phone is on to do a soft reset - I thought pressing the little red button did a soft reset? If this doesn't work he wants me to call back to configure the internet settings manually...
Anyway, I shall wait. Just to be sure, aside from 3g being enabled on the phone there is nothing much else to do is there? When I switched it on after the rom upgrade it detected Orange settings and said it configured accordingly. Sometimes the symbol says 3g, somtimes it says G.
Is there anything I can do/check in the meantime to make sure this is a network issue for sure?
Sorry if this is long-winded.
Just press the little red button for a soft reset. You could check Settings - Connections - Advanced Network, if HSDPA/HSUPA is enabled. And if you can find the Orange mobile internet settings online, you can check Settings - Connections - Connections, to see if your Diamond's mobile internet connection settings are correct. Else call back to configure them manually. Once you're properly connected you should see the 3G or H icon. After that you can compare your results here, if you want. Please remember that your actual speed depends on a few factors, including your Radio version.. Good luck!
Thank you both for your kind help.I shall take into all into consideration. In the meantime, I shall wait until tonight (when everything should have been transfered to my sim).

Hi all,
I have bought a Htc One M7 handset recently and I have noticed time to time there are No Signals (Limited Service) on it. When I switch off/ switch on or if I turn on the Airplane mode and turn off again, the signals will restore. This is happening around 2 times per day and really annoying. Need to know whether this is a known issue for the model.. I still didn't change the SIM and check. Please help!!!!!
Thanks alot!

I have the same thing
To add some detail for diagnostics see below:
- I travel into London every day and sometimes when signal drops in the tunnels it will never pick back up again after leaving them whereas my old One X did not have this on the same journeys.
- It even dropped out mid call and came up with the sim card icon at the notification bar as if no card inserted (but no selectable notification) first time its happened to this extent.
- Do you have a 4G SIM/connection or are you on 3G like myself? I'm thinking perhaps its something to do with trying to pick up 4G instead and completely disregarding the 3G connection that is available.
- I have also noticed that ever since getting the handset its never had as good signal as my One X which was pretty much always full signal in my normal areas (home, work etc) This may just be the way the handset gauges the signal not the signal itself but something to note anyway.
I'm having the same issue here in the US. It's prolly my only complaint with my phone.

I'm also having this issue but more sever with an all-day no signal. After reboot, I gain signal and I can't make and receive calls.
Try to turn 4G off.

How does one do that? Having the same problem, both wifi AND mobile network drop off. Wifi comes back on its own after a few seconds, the mobile data connection often comes back (obviously if not on wifi away from home), but the mobile network stays as no signal and doesn't come back, unless I reboot or cycle aeroplane mode. I know there's some problems with touching antenna, but this is happening a lot in the car, when the phone is powered and sitting in a cradle.

To turn off 4G you go to Settings -> Mobile data -> Network mode and then select "3G / 2G"
don't know if it'll help though, but trying is worthwhile

Thanks. The problems seems to have gone with that change. Perhaps it is some system thing kicking me off the network because I don't have 4G on my contract and my phone was trying to get it.
Now, if you can just tell me why my lovely 3-4 bar indoors signal on EE has dropped to 0-1 outdoors (as they deny there is a problem)

Are you sure it's not just cosmetic? Try going into Settings->About->Network and see if the signal (dBm) is dropping.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I have it constantly on att - I have to turn on airplane mode and turn it back off to get my network back, I have tried different roms and updates and still the issue is across all roms.
Maybe try this: in your dialer type *#*#4636#*#*. Once the menu is opened, select Phone information, then scroll down to Set preffered network type and choose one of the options (im from Serbia, europe, and I usualy go with GSM auto (PRL)).
Issue with 3g only
Whenever I keep it on 3G, it drops signals for 2 to 7 seconds at random intervals. People often complain that when they call, they get a message that my phone is switched off.. I am probably gonna try another ROM and SIM to see if that helps before dumping this phone forever.
how to solve limited service or loosing service on htc one m7
Hello
it seems to be a hardware fault where the radio is not staying on higher band
it seems to be having issues on 2100 and all umts and hspda or lte networks
however switching back to 2 g can resolve this issue and phone ( hope so) will never lose signals or drop then again
i tried this and for me this works fine so far over 12 hours now no issue
give it a try and see this should work
setting>data>network>2g only
by this you wont have option to use fast internet though but at least you can phone can be used for voice calls messaging etc and also wifi too
I was on stock lolli pop and tried to flash cm12.1 but does not help sort the limited service issue
enjoy and leave your feedback
Edit:
some people cant find 2g in settins>mobile network>preferred network type> lte or 3g only, the solution is go to *#*#4636#*#* phone info>set preferred network type>gsm only( this will put your device into 2g mode)
hope this work
I've seen a number of threads where people post about their device dropping network data connectivity, and needing a reboot to solve it.
My issue is a bit different. Occasionally (I've noticed it 3-4 times today) when I go to send a text (SMS) or to use a data enabled service like Hangouts, that my phone shows no bars at all.. not even just no data, but the bars are grey and there's a red x. I wait about 15 seconds and it reconnects, then another 10 seconds later, the data is live again.
Phone is a private sale and under 1 month old, and all the Stamina functions are off.. I do see that the "Queue background Data" is turned on, but I don't think this should effect, no?
Not sure what digits I should be looking at to know if this might be a hardware vs software issue.. build is listed as .93
Im no stranger to unlocking and flashing, but I've kept this stock cuz it's tight and I adore the battery life.
Suggestions?

check in settings in network and set your network to the one you use , like gm/wcdma /lte , maybe your phone is strugling to find 3g or 4g , try it , who knows it might solve the issue , ty
Been about a month since I posted, and I'm still experiencing this issue. I often thumb my phone on and it's not connected. I don't really mind waiting for the 30 seconds or so that it takes to jump back on the network, but it often means I miss calls, and since it's my business phone, it kinda bums me out to suddenly get a VM notification of a missed call even though it never rang.
Is there some sort of utility that I can use to monitor the network activity to see how frequently it drops, and for how long? I've looked into ones on Play but they don't seem to have a history, just something that shows what data up and down is currently being reported.
Sadly the only Sony store in my city (and I think the country - Canada) has recently closed for good, so I'm not sure how to go about warranty repairs...

I don't have a solution, but I can tell you that you're not alone. I've been experienced the same thing on my Z3C. I sometimes wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the MVNO I use doesn't support 4G LTE.

Interesting.. Your issue isn't just data, but a complete network disconnection? Im with Fido which is an MVNO under Rogers, but I thought they supported LTE. The issue also persists even on wifi

Yes, it seems to be a complete loss of the mobile connection. When I wake the phone I see gray bars and a red X on the signal strength indicator. Within seconds the phone re-acquires and the indicator goes to 2 or 3 bars. I have also seen it happen with wifi active. The frustrating part is that it doesn't seem to do it often enough to troubleshoot. I'll notice the problem maybe a couple of times a month and there's nothing obviously different about my usage patterns in those instances.
Mine does it at least a dozen times a day. I can only assume this as I frequently miss calls and at least 3-4 times a day I see it happen. =(
Same Problem
Randomly I have no connection at all but after a few seconds everything wents back to normal. Did not have this problem with T-mobile in Germany but with with O2 I have. With T-mobile I had LTE but with O2 I don't, so I guess that's the reason.
Interesting... I've disabled LTE and now have it on 3g/GSM. We'll see how it works moving forward, and I'll post again in a week. Stay tuned.
Service Providers
In the mobile network settings one can change the service provider manually. With LTE enabled my provider has three entries: LTE, 3G and 2G. Connecting two LTE fails, because my provider blocked it in my plan. Having LTE enabled, it often tries to connect to LTE I assume. I switched off LTE and set the provider manually to 3G. Maybe that helps. We'll see.

Interesting.. I have LTE as part of my network and plan... But once I made changes to the settings as I indicated, I no longer receive the network drops I originally experienced.. I might just be missing the alerts, but it seems fixed... #crossedfingers
Wondering if anyone can help me out. I've already spent hours on the phone with tmobile and they can't seem to solve it.
I've had this problem ongoing since getting this phone. Basically I get no data roaming. Places Ive tried: Canada (several cities in BC as well as Quebec and Ontario), UAE, Bahamas. I spend a lot of time in Canada so its a real issue. Things I have tried:
- Factory reset
- Upgrade to 5.1.1 using Odin.
- Try sim card in friend's phone (4G works no problem in Canada)
- A bunch of other stuff I don't remember
Symptoms:
- About 50% of the time the phone works for calls and text
- The rest of the time it says "emergancy calls only". Restarting the phone immediately restores ability to make calls/send text. This happens regardless of signal strength.
- Data connection never works. Only time I got 4G was the very first time I entered canada with this phone. . Restarting the phone would make it connect to 4G for about 1-2 minutes before it would lose data connection. Restarting the phone would bring it back. After about half a day the phone completely lost ability to make data connection and has never been able to get data connection internationally since then.
- Sometimes I get this message: "you have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off". Data roaming is definitely turned on. I've enabled in settings and also via #RON# short code.

This sounds like a config issue to me. the random drops to emergency seems to be issues with roaming not being set up right. It sounds like your APNs are not setup correctly or something. have you gotten any info from t-mobile on Roaming APNs? i'm not sure if it needs to be adjusted for roaming or not.

Yeh thats what it seemed like to me as well but I went over the APN settings with them on several occasions. I also looked them up online. Everything seems correct. The only thing they had me change was APN roaming protocol from IPv6 to IPv4/IPv6.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* (on stock dialer), in Device Information try to change network settings to LTE/WCDMA.
What are your APN settings? Provide info about all fields.

Hello,
I have a teething problem with my P9, more of an annoyance than a problem i suppose.
I added a stock rom to my p9 (EVA-C900B136) to remove the vodafone splashscreen on start up. Since then when I am using WiFi the 4g icon has stayed visible. After checking the data usage, it does not appear to be using Data which is why its not really a problem just an annoyance.
Furthermore, if a turn off data and 4g, the icon remains put. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this?
Many thanks
Rob
This is not a problem. Some of carriers sending the band information -forced- to the device. So this icon showing only; your device and base station using which band for connection.
When you are using the mobile data that icon's label will be Bigger, but when your not this label will be tiny...
I don't have an idea how to remove, but i can say; there are no problem. Only see the label is bigger or lighter.
I think this depends what firmware you are on. When I was on c636b152 my 4G icon always showed when on WiFi. Ever since I was on c432 I never saw that 4G icon on WiFi unless I was sending an MMS or using the Duo app.

4g & wifi sign at the same time.
Hi, yesterday i started to face with this problem for the first time.
I'm on EVA-L09C636B134 never rooted or had an system update. Yesterday suddenly when i restarted my phone, the 4g logo was there near the wifi logo. Even if i close the mobile data, the 4g sign is still there.
Any solutions?
i think i'v surfed all the web but find no solution. :-\
Go into ADB, launch shell and use the following command:
settings put system isShowNetworkType "0"
Restart your phone. You'll now not show the network type while on Wi-Fi.
NOTE: The isShowNetworkType is CaSe SenSitiVE!
See if you have active or not the button from "settings - developer options - mobile data always active".
If it is active, the 4G logo will stay above the wifi logo.
