I have a XT1096. I love this phone. The Nexus experience and Moto Voice is all great, but man is the Camera app UI horrific. I can see what they were going for. I think they wanted some originality to phone camera UI but it ended up only being more inconvenient to use. Especially when I ask a stranger to take a photo for me, it's a nightmare. Are there any ported cameras or something that will make this UI simpler and more generic?

If only for photos, Google's latest camera from the Nexus works, but it crashes if you launch video etc.
Otherwise, Camera MX is a fairly good app.
Tried to download the Moto G4 Camera apk, but couldn't get it to install. Maybe someone can work on that?
For me though, the Moto camera as it is has survived simply thanks to its double twist to launch gesture, if not it would've been long replaced.
HTC Camera from the HTC 10 works just fine. You can find the apk here on xda. The only issue I found is that HDR is very inconsistent, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I ended up switiching back due to the fact that I rely on HDR way too often.

Hi guys
I've regularly switched between CM and Sense as I try to find a set up I'm happiest with, the thing that keeps pushing me back to Sense is the camera app. I've just flashed the CM7 Nightly and I'm going to stick with it, my question to you is "Do you use a replacement camera app and if so, which one and why?"
Many thanks
Matt
ive used CM to, and switched back to sense ui for the same reason as you did... i stick with sense though... feels better for me
Dont know any good Camera app...
Vignette. It's basically hipstamatic for Android.
Just google it or look at some streams on flickr, you will not be dissappointed.
Camera 360 is awesome, even the free version although I think I might actually buy the paid version soon.
Also try FxCamera, worth it just for the Toy Camera mode. My favourite photos taken with my old Hero were with this. It's not a serious replacement for the stock camera app though, more of fun app like Vignette.
I also have CameraPro but I wouldn't recommend that a it's not much better than stock and used to f/c too much.
I couldn't live with a non-Sense ROM. For all HTC have got wrong they've got so much more right when it comes to the look and feel of the UI. I'm a sucker for the settings widgets too
Dear munkimatt,
I recommend " Lg camera " application. It can both take photos and record videos. Also there are plenty of settings improve the quality. you can download it directly from the Market. hope this helps.
Kind Regards,
i need sense camera app, gallery app, music and mail app to stick with CM
vigniette is the best replacement so far but i've tested it and i can confirm it doesn't produce as good results as the stock camera app
PROTOCHIP where can i find this LG camera?
Hello,
With Linux, I feel free of any limits so I imagine some crazy things to do.
I think we can link (ln -s) the driver file of back camera in place of front camera to fake the system and applications.
Why? That will allow us (as I expect) make 3G video calls and join hangouts in Google+ and maybe unlock phone by face in CM9.
What is your opinion? Is this possible or not? Why?

I think it's logically able to do. And maybe already available somewhere else (I've heard somewhere about video call using rear camera, but not really interested).
It's possible because it's actually same camera with (usually) different quality.
but it won't be comfortable using rare camera as front camera as we can't see who's we're talking to or they won't be able to see us.
or, when unlocking the phone, we can't see actually where the camera shots. is it right on our face or not. will be a little bit tricky to use.
but if you can do it, I think a lot of people will like it.

Most of video calls for rear camera depends on the Internet like Yahoo Messenger and Fring. But no native 3G calls.
In video calls we can do what we did with Nokia 6630 (As I remember) by standing up in front a mirror.
In face unlock you will face some difficults in the start but you will be used to do this easily after (it's a trick anyway that you can be proud of using it in Android in front of your friends )
We need an expert developer to help us defining the exact files to be linked.. and where?

On of the first things I got my HTC One M8 was download the Google Camera APK. I like it much better than the HTC camera. It's quicker and simpler to use. I am wondering if the google camera knows how to take advantage of the M8 Dual Cameras though. anyone know? I would switch back to the HTC app to take full advantage of my phones hardware.

One way to tell would be to take a pic in google and then go see if you can "Process it" with the DUO functions.
I doubt it will work. But it's possible.

You cannot add any of the HTC effects that use the extra lense to a photo that's taken with the Google Camera app, so I imagine right now, it doesn't take advantage of the extra lense. Google Camera does have a new feature to blur the background, where you take the pic and then slowly move the camera up. I think their effect looks much better than the u-focus HTC effect, and Google Camera blur effect is adjustable for how much blur you want.
However I'm the opposite as you. I like the HTC camera interface better but like the blurring feature in Google Camera.
Hi,
So stock moto camera app kinda sucks. Can u suggest the camera apps u use, and why u recommend it? I skimmed the forums and found Open Camera is kinda cool, I'll give it a try.
Let's make a list of good camera apps, best if u can try it for free before buying (or maybe there are some decent without having to pay?).
Snap Camera, i find it's UI pretty and taking good pictures (although it costs i had to bring the app up)
A Better Camera Unlocked is a pretty good one.

Hi, so I have picked up the s10 5g running on exynos and I don't know yet how I feel about the phone , some aspects of it I really love but so far there is just something I quite cant pin point that's bugging me about it. I do have one thing tho it could just be me but im not a fan of the Samsung camera app , I feel that the picture are coming out a bit to over saturated and colours don't look as true to live as they can. is there anyone else that feels like the same and if so was there anything you did to try and resolve that issue. Also with it running on exynos I and wondering if there is any nokia camera apk that will work on it or any other camera apk like google etc . I have had pixels and nokia in the past and have found them to be some of the best camera apps.
I want to have this as a daily driver and not end up trading it this so is there anything people would recommend to customise in the phone or any apps to download or just anything that will make this phone help to stand out and make me love it ?

Play around with the camera modes. If you go into Pro mode you can alter heaps of settings. Also, get yourself a really good photo editing program for your PC, like Photoshop. There are also a few good photo editors on Play Store.

You could also enable/disable HDR, it usually makes the images slightly more saturated and boost contrast; that might be the main issue
