Im trying to make my tab use wifi only becuase i don't have t-mobile service anymore. Is there anyway to get it to stop saying "searching" all the time? I have factory reset my tab but unlike other devices, there is no initial setup so i can choose WIFI only. Anyone have any ideas?
I use;

then turn off the radio.
(also popped the sim out as I was getting occasional SIM Detached messages and reboots, so figured it was simpler to just take the SIM out and turn off the radio)

Go into Airplane mode, and then turn on the wifi.
Thats what I do. It uses less battery.
Also deactiveate "Data network mode"

Me too, same as above, but then bluetooth headsets, printers, and keyboards won't work.

I disconnect my data plan and using tab as phone. join wifi at work and home and enjoy phone and tab same time lol.

Just flash overcome! Then follow simple instructions to turn off radio.. I its really simple.

(copy/pasted directly from Overcome tweaks guide)
"Turning the 3G-based Tab into a "Wi-Fi only" device (Disabling the GSM Radio!)
To disable the GSM Radio:
- Bring up your Phone/Dialer program
- Enter: *#*#4636#*#*
- Select Device Information
- Scroll to the bottom
- Tap the "Turn Off Radio"
This will disable all Cell/GSM/EDGE connections – should only be used for those who do not subscribe to a data/cell package. This will leave Bluetooth/Wi-Fi (I think) on so you can still connect Bluetooth devices etc., as opposed to switching to Airplane mode which turns everything off! "

You can turn off the radio, use wifi and I believe it allows you to use bluetooth as well.
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I wanted to offer an alternative solution for anybody still trying to find a persistent solution to creating a Wifi only Galaxy Tab. I use Llama to set up a start up event that turns Airplane mode on, waits 1 minute, and enables Wifi. It has worked well for me for the past several months. Here's the run down of my Llama configuration:
Event Name > Start Up
Conditions -
Phone reboot > After start up
Actions -
Toggle Airplane Mode > Airplane Mode On
Queue Another Event >
Event Name > WiFi On
Event delay > 1 minute
Actions -
Toggle WiFi > WiFi On
I hope this helps someone out.
As per title say, my whatsapp doesn't auto sync, the only way i got it to work is:
Press taskswitcher > clear whatsapp > open whatsapp > then i can receive notifications,
Other than than, if my phone is in standby mode, i hardly receive any notification.
ROM use : monx 03-02 4.2.2 jb
Auto sync is checked.
I tried Settings > apps > menu > reset application list.
I tried settings > apps > Whatsapp > check/uncheck receive notification.
Anybody else having the same issue? please advice.

whatsapp is ok...., but sometimes it won't receive msg in-time....
Not just whatsapp, I use LINE too.
LINE always can't get msg notification, I need to open LINE to receive msgs !
And LINE call always won't show too, then if I open LINE main program there are missed calls !
My friends use S4, HTC and LG, they don't have such program at all !

Stamina Mode disables network while screen off, so synchronization may delay.
Turn off stamina mod to get notifications on time.
There is a bug in the leaked 4.2.2 the notifications get delayed on wifi and 3g happened here lot of time.

All powersave options are disabled but the problem still there...

The problem lies with the buggy Qualcomm Prima drivers which interferes with the way BMPS (Beacon Mode Power Saving) operates. If you disable BMPS in the wlan config.ini in Prima, believe me your problem will go away BUT your phone will HARDLY go into deep sleep if you have a habit of leaving your phone's wifi on i.e. associated with wireless AP even when the phone is not in active use.

If you are using your phone's WiFi mainly at home, try to set the router's wireless beacon interval lower. The default value should be 100ms. I set it to 30ms and I think it seemed to have helped. A lower interval implies more network overhead due to a higher frequency of beacon packets but I reckon this is a worthwhile tradeoff as compared to disabling beacon mode power saving totally.
I have a Honda Accord 2016 EX-L and Nexus 5 6.0.1 on T-Mobile. Android Auto used to work flawlessly, but recently whenever I try to use a voice command, I get an error saying "I see you have limited network connection" and it only lets me order voice calls. I can not use any other voice commands like for navigation.
I can make voice commands just fine on my phone when not connected with android auto, and my car microphone works just fine with the built in navigation system when my phone is disconnected. Other than voice commands, everything works fine on Android Auto like navigation and streaming music apps. I can stream Spotify and Pandora just fine when connected to the car, and my phone shows a normal LTE connection.
I have no idea what is wrong and what I can do to troubleshoot. Any ideas?
I have the same problem with note 5.

I had exact same problem. It turned out that "Restrict Background Data" was set to "on" for Google App on my device. Once I set it to "off", everything started working.
Go to "Data Usage" in settings, scroll down and tap "Google App" and set "Restrict Background Data" to off.
Maybe a silly question for some but is there a way to only connect to a WiFi upon selecting it and disable automatic connection of known WiFi networks?
My dash cam is WiFi and broadcasts an SSID. My phone thinks it's a good internet connection and automatically jumps to WiFi. Essentially i have no connection whenever i drive. Obviously i could turn it off every time i get near my car and back on when i get out buuuut I'm lazy lol and I've forgotten to many times already. Anyways PCs have a priority (use other connections first) sort of thing. Is this a feature or does anyone have an app? I'll research but though I'd ask. Thanks

If you select that WiFi connection, you can disable the autoreconnect option...
Try this.
Settings > Connection > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Manage Networks > 'your car'. Un-tick Auto reconnect.
Also, under Advanced > Adaptive Wi-Fi > Network Exceptions, you could try removing your car Wi-Fi from staying connected.

No way to turn off auto-reconnect
I'm using a UK Exynos model. Maybe that's the difference.
These are my settings.
Why can't you select the dash cam in your phone's wifi settings and then "forget?" Especially when you're not within range of the camera?

I really don't want to put the passcode in each time. Do you every time you connect to WiFi?
I have US unlocked and I can't find that option either. Kinda strange. It should be there ,so I would call Samsung , it might be a bug.

Wow, the unlocked version is missing features that Verizon is allowing us to use? Inconceivable!
Have you tried turning off 'Adaptive Wi-Fi' completely, turning it back on when needed?
My dashcam app attempts to manage the connection itself, you have to initially connect it through the app to enable this.
When you launch the app and go to view or download the video, it connects to the cam and does it's thing. If you come straight out of the app, it stays connected but if you exit viewing the cam within the app, it conveniently disconnects the wifi for you.
Obviously your dashcam might not be capable of this but I thought I'd post it anyway because it's an easy setting to miss on the badly translated app. I've got a DDPai cam BTW. Also, if your dashcam has an app that doesn't do this then it might be worth asking the developer to implement it.
I wonder if this will be a problem with GoPros too. They use the WiFi to connect.
I'll have to check it out when I get home.

But does that actually turn off WiFi? It sounds like it just switches to data but doesn't turn off WiFi.
I know you're taking automation...but have you tried to set up a Bixby routine like "leave work" or "leave home" and have it turn off wifi when you go. Then an "I'm home" to turn back on
when when arrive at home...or whatever other location you're trying to do this from?
I know you're trying to stick to what's already in the phone with Bixby, but...it's worth to mention
"If this, then that" IFTTT, is one way to be able to IFTTT.
Tasker is another option.
There's also Smart Wifi Toggler.

so you can do: if "Wifi Signal Strength" less than x%" then "turn off wifi" within Bixby
or there is the plain old
"Switch to mobile data" in the adaptive wifi settings - "switch to mobile data whenever your wifi internet connect is slow or unstable"

LOL, and so continues the mysteries of Bixby. There must be someone really high up in the company hierarchy that loves Bixby or else by now it would have been discarded beside the road like an empty beer can.

Ha! You need to add on the "if" section, the "place" and then it will show the WiFi in the actions lost. Then go back and remove the "place" variable!

I only use Wi-Fi at home so just setting up the routine for if I'm home, Wi-Fi turns on. If I leave home, it turns it back off. I suppose you could set up multiple routines with different places marked but we shouldn't have to do that

I have tried but no luck. The routine has been set (I added 5% as WiFi strength) but never triggered. I have changed it now to 15% and will try again.

Use inverse logic. (it might be good for you):
turn off the wifi!
set bixby routines:
if home then wifi on
if XXX then wifi on
This is only good if you know where you want to use the WIFI.
??? Isn't it right there? "Turn on wifi automatically". When you use a network often, you will get a notification that it is added to a list of frequent used networks. It will turn on wifi you are in those arrive at those places with the frequently used wifi.
