Case for tempered glass...ANY UPDATES??? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Accessories

I've looked over the threads and they seem to be older for when the phone first came out. I cant seem to find a definitive answer for a case that fits tempered glass without popping up the edges. Any suggestions.

There are plenty of updates if you check through the tempered glass screen protector thread. The last 10 pages or so are the most current info.
The real answer to your question is "it depends." The cases that do work typically have such a slim margin that manufacturing variation can cause it to work fine for one person and not for another. I have a Cover-Ups Explorer wood back case and it fit with both of the TGSP I tried, but it was very close. Right now I'm using the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro with my Amazingthing TGSP. This case is similar to an otterbox in construction as it is two pieces and the front goes over the screen and then you put the back on. This prevents it from lifting the corners. It is a tight fit though.

appreciate it

Tech 21 Mesh/Scratch Resistant Case

Hey,
I have been looking the Tech 21 mesh case but have a couple questions directed to anyone who has had experience with the case.
Is the textured back more or less resistant to scratches than a traditional tpu case? This is a pretty big point with me because I have owned a couple of clear back plastic cases that just end up getting scratched up and looking bad.
Also,
Would the case interfere with a tempered glass screen protector?
Thanks ahead of time!
I had this case briefly. From what I remember, pretty sure the back is not textured. It's smooth. It didn't interfere with my class protector.
I sent it back though. Far too big and bulky for my liking. I didn't have it long enough to answer the scratch resistance question but I'd say it's more resistant then hard plastic cases but not indestructible.

I have found that the tempered glass screen protectors have not interfered with any of my 3 cases so far. They are thicker than I expected though.
i have had one of these cases for a few weeks now and i am very happy with it. i have the mimi feather glass screen protector and it fits perfectly. i have tested the case out (dropped out of pocket onto tiles yesterday) and no problem at all. highly recommended.

[REVIEW] Ghostek Bullet Case

The Ghostek Bullet case ($14.95 on Amazon) might just be my favorite daily case. However, there are some things you should be aware of...
Pros:
The bottom of the case is completely flat and can be stood up on all sides if propped properly (Has a lot of straight edges).
Power button/ir blaster is unobstructed.
Volume rocker gives a very satisfying click when depressed.
Very sturdy design (The case and phone will survive several drops without shattering to pieces).
Has a nifty kick-stand (Case can be used as an impromptu tripod).
Very easy to remove and to install.
Camera portions have deep ridges (protects the lens from scratches).
Very modular (Consists of 3 pieces [top, middle, and rear]).
Easy to grip.
Not too pricy.
Cons:
Top, bottom, both sides of the screen, and both camera areas are not sealed from dust (There's a lot of gaps between portions of the case and the phone).
Did not come with a screen protector as advertized (maybe a miscommunication from the seller).
A bit bulky compared to a lot of cases out there.
Fingerprint and dust magnet.
Portrait View
Landscape View
In pieces
Gaps for dust and debris on Rear cameras
Huge gap on bottom of the volume and micro-usb ports.
Gap near the power button.
Conclusion:
Now we all know our awesome phone is aesthetically curved and is very thin. In an attempt to protect this case from falls, this case makes the phone bulker and have flatter edges.
Although this case will let in lots of dust and debris, this is my favorite case to date. It's very durable and very serviceable. I'm sure with some Sugru or some silicone sealant, all the dust issues can be addressed, making this the perfect case.
thats a nice review.. however, i read in a few places that not all 4 corners are a perfect fit. the fit for one of the corners is not perfect i heard. did u come across anythin like that?
i got a love mei case.. but i get an annoying rainbow-like streak on my screen. it happens when i tighten the screws and the screen of the case and m8 screen come into contact. can i use this case with nilkin 9H tempered glass screen protector?
this is a good case but imo it is a bit too bulky for daily use. and the gaps also makes a lot of dust go in and there is a slight chance of scratching the phone if not kept clean from time to time,

well thats obviously a good combo that you mentioned. but if you want a little more slimmer that i suggest supcase unicorn beetle with a tempered glass protector. i am using UAG scout case with a glass protector. this case is quite nice too. :good:

I heard the unicorn beetle case covers the lens quite a lot and it affects photography when its late evenings... low light basically.. what do u think..
and someone posted this about the nillkin 9H screen protector.
"Worst ever tempered glass used , after application everything was good but when I removed it after a month it took out the oleophobic coating of the display now I can't use my phone without screen protector I guess the adhesive is too strong better I use your phone without this "
whats ur take on this?

i have read the same about nilkin protector. there are plenty of other brands i heard Zagg, skinomi, noot, intelliarmor etc. all has good and bad reviews. i personally use a slim glass protector from retail store (forgot the brand name). but i maybe switching to a full glass protector too. my personal preference is Zagg as it covers almost the full front except the speaker grills. http://www.amazon.com/ZAGG-InvisibleShield-Glass-Screen-Protector/dp/B00JZYF7QO/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1422376922&sr=8-16&keywords=tempered+glass+protector+m8
but supcase i don't think it cause image disturbance. in some cases when using flash some problems occurred. i think someone mentioned it was only on the clear back version. In the black\black version i think it does not happen. i am not sure as i am not using one currently.
I recently dropped my phone/case and the frame split ?.
I've never had an issue with the case fitment. It's a snug fit and you'll have to uncomfortably stretch the frame to get it on.
Got a pretty good replacement on eBay. As per my original case, I taped the openings and made cut outs of the ports to prevent scratches when plugging things in.

Spigen Oleophobic Coated Tempered Glass Glas.tR SLIM + Google Adopted Slim Case

Did a search on the forum but didn't find any precise answer about it.
I've bought a Spigen Oleophobic Coated Tempered Glass Glas.tR SLIM for my Nexus 5X and I'm thinking about also buying a slim case for it.
I like the Google Adopted Slim Case very much.
Do you guys know if they are 100% compatible?
I don't want to get either of those damaged.
I don't know if this will help but I have a generic tempered glass protector from xtremeguard and the regular adopted case and they work together just fine. The lip of the adopted case is very flexible, so it can fit over the screen protector without pushing it up (I don't know if the same is true of the adopted slim case).
You'll be fine using that combo. The adopted case is just a flexible tpu and will sit just fine with a tempered glass screen protector. I've used one with a different screen protector, but it was glass. The ones with built in screen protectors are usually the problematic cases.
I've sent a mail to Spigen support asking about compatibility but unfortunately they cannot guarantee that for a tihrd party product (the Adopted Slim case).
I think it may happen the same thing asking Google, but I'll try.
I have them together and it's been a wonderful experience!

That's what I've wanted to hear, amazing!
I'm ordering the Slim case right away then
I do not like Spigen.Since I bought one for my Nexus 6p,it broke when it arrived. So I found another brand iPely great on Amazon.
Reporting here that I have had both the Adopted Slim Case and the Spigen Slim Glass on my 5X for two weeks more or less and I have to say they go along with each other very very well.
The tempered glass arrived earlier than the protective case; applying it was super easy and I had no bubbles at all when I was done with it.
The case is very good too, fits the phone very well and does not add much bulk. Just a little, but I'm fine with it. It has to provide some protection after all.
With the combination of the two only one small problem arised: when I put the Adopted case on, two little bubbles have appeared, fortunately not on the screen (one on the top left corner and the other on the bottom left corner of the device), As soon as I remove the case, they disappear.
So I think the case applies some pressure on the glass and cause it to lift a bit, hence the problem.
However ,as I said, I was very lucky they are in the edge of the 5X and not on its screen and they are very hard to notice.
A part from this little issue, I'm satisfied.

Don't buy tempered glass protection for 1+5!!

It seems that all currently available on AliExpress (at least) tempered glass protection are flawed, because of:
1- Protectors that covers the body in full, and has some black areas: has actually glue only on the black non-transparent zones, but nothing on display area it self (so only display ages, upper and lower parts has glue), this makes it rubbish, because it will not stick well to the screen, one or two gaming sessions and it will end in recycle bin.
2- Fully transparent one, with full screen coverage: because 1+5 has 2.5D screen, those covers will not stick well on phone edges since tempered glass is rigid, this maybe can be used only with covers that overlap edges of the screen also.
3-Fully transparent one that don't cover all of the screen: those usually stick well, but only if they left about 5mm on each edge uncovered! I believe it is clear that such a gap ruins the protective purpose of the tempered glass, aside the ugly look due to gaps. (Again, having an edge overlapping cover could make it look better)
So it seems the only practical option for now is to use usual non glass protection unfortunately.
If I missed something or you have some suggestions please let me know..Some manufacturers claims that there protector is 4D, what means that it should solve all above issues, i didn't try those yet, anybody tested them?
I am regretting removing original 1+5 protection
As I bought and still use an Orzly tempered glass protector I concur with your analysis at this time. When I first applied the Orzly is was perfect without the issues some experienced but after 3+ weeks the sides must have lifted slightly due to my bumper case and dust particles got underneath next to the left/right buttons. Since then I've been religiously looking for an alternate that passes the case test but none so far have come to light.
I like the feel of the tempered glass so much that I've resisting going back to the film/plastic alternatives which I had always used in the past. I'm even considering going naked on the screen, relying on Gorilla Glass 5, but continue with a bumper case. Or the reverse, by using an Orzly but with no bumper case as I already have a dBrand skin applied. None of those options seem all that appealing. The one protector that seems to work with a 2.5D screen is the Galaxy 8's Whitestone Dome Glass but it's a crazy expensive $41USD and difficult to apply. I'm not sure even if a OnePlus 5 version was available I'd spend that much money.
I haven't had any luck with any tempered glass., due to point 2 which has been raised:
2- Fully transparent one, with full screen coverage: because 1+5 has 2.5D screen, those covers will not stick well on phone edges since tempered glass is rigid, this maybe can be used only with covers that overlap edges of the screen also.

After reading all of the reviews I decided just to leave the plastic one on until someone gets their act together and offers a proper tgsp for the OP5
Sent from my OnePlus5 using XDA Labs
Agreed with OP and all of above. I had and still have the Orzly TG protector on, but dust underneath. I want to go back to the usual plastic ones, but don't know which one covers as well/much as the original one that came with the phone. Any recommendations?

Im still waiting for my Nilkin glass protector to arrive (it's almost been a month, sigh)
If this one has the same issue as the ones I've tried before it (lack of adhesive around the edges), I'm going to try and go back to using plastic screen protectors.
I don't want to use my device without one, but I also hate how these glass protectors don't fully adhere to the screen around the sides (including top and bottom)

The YouTube channel you mention is also my favorite choice for screen protector info for the Oneplus 5. He always tests the protectors with various cases. His branding of the channel can get annoying but his market coverage is excellent and vast. With the plethora of tempered screen protectors its your choice for an accompanying case that often makes a big difference in your satisfaction. Here is the Big unBox - Biuzko review.
One thing I noticed is when the Big unBox applied the Official OnePlus 5 tgsp video it had lots of bubbles on the edges that he said couldn't be removed while I watched XDA's TK review and his application looked perfect with TK giving it a thumbs up. In the comment section of that review TK said all was well even after a month of usage. I was surprised as the Official tgsp has garnered horrible reviews and comments in the XDA Oneplus 5 accessories section. The most consistent criticism of the Official tgsp is that it cuts off a tiny fraction of the screen. In fact, so far my research indicates all of the "Full Adhesive", "Full coverage" tgsp cut off part of the screen. Personally I think the reason they have a black line on the edges is to hide inevitable bubbles due to the curved edge. The thicker the tempered glass the wider the side black stripes (e.g. Orzly versus Official).
Here is the criteria I'm using in selecting a replacement for my Orzly tgsp and cheap bumper case. Note that I've already installed a dBrand skin so that skews my criteria somewhat.
Tempered Glass screen protector:
- Must have full adhesive (not just top/bottom and side adhesion) and full coverage
- Would prefer, but am a tiny bit flexible on, part of the screen being cut off (limit is that not one pixel of the notification bar's clock is trimmed)
- Must have an oleophobic coating
Case:
- Needs to be as non intrusive as possible adding grip but not greatly ruining the sleekness of the phone
- Uses a minimalist design and/or clear materials so as not to obstruct viewing of the dBrand skin I've installed
- With the case on the buttons (power and volume rocker) must not be difficult to press
So far my research has me leaning towards the Official OnePlus 5 or Biuzko tgsp with a Rhinoshield Crashguard case. My one issue is that the Rhinoshield reviews always mention how difficult the volume rocker buttons are to press. Here is the video that has me leaning in that direction as is seems to best address my criteria
OnePlus 5 best case/protector setup
I'll being doing more reading and searching today hoping to find the unicorn of tgsp/case combinations. The dust under my Orzly is driving me mad but the feel and responsiveness of its surface has me rejecting a film/plastic protector alternative.
I'm using the Biuzko as well with the Tudia MERGE case no problems.
The trick is to first put OP5 in the case, THEN place the screen protector on. It fits perfectly, and you can't mess up the alignment since it falls right in. Then I just try to put pressure on the sticky parts for a few minutes.
I've had no problems for 3 weeks now.
I installed mine the same way, but I'm using the op5 carbon fiber case.

Hello,
I recommend you the plastic screen protectors from GadgetShieldz. I made a review about it on another post on xda but to summarize, it's a bit difficult to apply but then it's great. The screen looks good and it's cheap ^^ highly recommend.
FYI, I was struggling with TGSP for the OP5 and I just gave up. There is no good alternative atm.

Skinomi makes a wet application protector in both clear and matte. I posted pics of the matte version here. Since that post, I've experienced no scratches or orange peel effect. It's also great for no fingerprints.
You can always get the Nillkin H+ Pro, but only if you are using a spigen case or otterbox. Right now I am using the Spigen Rugged Armor with Nillkin H+ Pro and the gap between the glass and the case is around 1 mm (i would say 1.5 mm if I have to be more accurate). The Otterbox case is even better but I find it too bulky, tried it once for an hour and I did not enjoy it, but some of you may like it.
Few words about the Nillkin H+ Pro.
I know there are few variants of the Nillkin glass and I have tried all of them in the past. In my opinion the best glass is exactly the H+ Pro even tho it is a 1 dollar more expensive. The glass has zero rainbow effect or halo effect, it is 99 to 100% clear. It has amazing orleophobic coating. My Honor 8 has the same glass for 6 months now and it is flawless. I am going to change my nillkin glass with the official 3D tempered glass but only because I received the rhinoshield bumper. Otherwise I would not change my nillkin. You are going to get used to the small gap in a week or so.
Don't leave the phone without a glass.
I just applied mine, best screen protector I ever had, pure quality. Quote me on that
I love the official OnePlus screen protector, it's premium & looks good. Who ever made this thread is straight up wrong. The one he recommended is no Bueno, the glass part doesn't have enhesive. Look I am a OnePlus 5 conisuer, the screen protector is fantastic ?
I have siegen case. Can I buy the original screen protector from oneplus store with no problems? Or can I suggest me something with dust proof and oil proof ?

Supcase Unicorn beetle style series - Review

Hello all,
Just got my supcase delivered today and on first look it's really of premium quality and looks great on the phone. I had been looking out for cases from the launch date and none of them were upto the mark. I had been using supcase on my previous phones and they have always been great. So i sent them an email asking if unicorn beetle style would be available for the OnePlus 7T and got a positive reply that by November it would be available. And boom, here it is in Amazon india.
About the case :
Premium
Has a good camera cutout protection
Front display protection has a good lip on top and bottom (tempered glass applied)
Not a TPU case so no yellowish case after a few months
Cons - Makes the device slightly larger to hold but will get used to in a few days( but better than most of the cases out there).
Overall I'm really satisfied
Now let the pictures do the talking.
Oh btw i wanted a case that could show off the colour of the phone plus look good. I saw many transparent cases with black border but everything had one flaw - the camera cutout protection black strip was hiding the OnePlus logo a bit and it looked cheap(A few had their pictures posted as if the logo wasn't hiding but in real it was hiding the OnePlus logo). Guess only ringke had the correct cutout other than supcase.
Hi. Thank you for this review, was just looking at it.
Do you use the official oneplus tempered glass? Does it hinge the glass protector up like many others do? I have the official one and this is a must for me.
Question regarding the clear back; does it fill up with lint and dirt? I always felt that clear cases filled with lint and pocket **** when using it for a long period of time. Basically when I take off my 1+ case it's always got dirt in it anyway so I assume this would show through the clear back..

Case is tempered glass friendly.

I too faced this issue using original tpu from oneplus.
I am not sure if this supacse will get filled up with dirt. For now nothing's inside the case. But I remember the OnePlus case had dirt inside it even on day one and i kept cleaning it every two days or so regularly.
From past few days there's nothing inside this clear case(supcase)
