Gear VR Developer Mode on S7? - Samsung Gear VR

So I've been trying for about an hour to enable the Gear VR DEVELOPER Mode on my GS7 with no luck. All instruction I can find tells you do go to Settings > App Manager > Gear VR Service and click on the version. My problem is that I have no "Gear VR Service" in my app manager. I have "Gear VR System" which is the only gear app to give me anow option to manage storage. I have gone and clicked on the version so many times to no avail. I have done the sideload with vr apps with my device signature as well. Any ideas?

Hey there!
Just wondering, have you updated all your Oculus software? You should be able to tap on "Developer Mode" instead. It should be a toggle. Check out the pic below!

Click on "Storage" then click on "Manage Storage"

Try to:
1. Go to Settings > Application Manager
2. Select Gear VR Service
3. Select Manage Storage
4. Click on VR Service Version several times until the Developer Mode toggle shows up
5. Toggle Developer Mode
Note: If you do not see the Developer Mode toggle switch after tapping VR Service Version several times, close Gear VR Service and relaunch, and you should see it.
If it still not work, download [Play Cardboard apps on Gear VR] app on Google Play and do following "Advanced Mode" instruction to enable GearVR developer mode

I tried everything but can't get it to work. It says you are not a developer. The app you mentioned got me the oculus service app to show. But it didn't actually activate developer mode. I contacted the app developer, he didn't know what to do either.

Have you built and installed an apk signed with your own Oculus signature file? That's a prerequisite for enabling developer mode. If you're not actually a developer there's another way you can do it: install SideloadVR for Gear VR, follow the instructions, then use it to download and install an apk (which will be signed with your own osig).
Then you can enable developer mode

I installed SideLoadVR, which now states there is no more need for exernally created OSIG file, as it will create it by itself.
Then I installed a couple of apps from within SideLoadVR.
Upon running them, GearVR app starts, but it complains about missing network (that's not true, has phone just used network to download the app!) and prevents me from going on.
Also, multiple presses on "VR Service Version " results in message "configuration not complete" (or similar, on my phone it's in italian).
Any tip?

I have another solution. I couldn't get it to work either. Just install sexlikereal app. It will sign the apk on their server as it installs. This will then finally enable developer mode after tapping several times on the version number already mentioned. Just google the app.

Marshmallow
To get Google Assistant working on Marshmallow, you need to install and enable the infamous Android N-ify Xposed module.
1 - Again, make sure that the Google App version is v6.6.14.21. A higher or a lower version of the Google App probably wouldn’t work.
2 - To start with, Install Xposed Framework on your device running Marshmallow. We have a full-featured tutorial that will help you with this.
3 - Next, download and install the latest Android N-ify Xposed module

4 - Open the Xposed Installer app, slide out the app-menu from the left, and tap on “Modules”. Activate the Android N-ify module and reboot your device.
5 - When your device has booted successfully, go to Settings > Apps > Google app and clear its cache.
Move on to the section below to know how to trigger Google Assistant on your device running Marshmallow
Nougat
Since Xposed doesn’t support Nougat yet, you will need to make the appropriate edits on your own. Basically, you will edit the build.prop file located in the /System partition and change/add a few required values. So first, download an app that would help you do that.
We recommend BuildProp Editor app, or you can simply use a root-enabled file manager.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor&hl=de
1 - Open the app drawer on your phone and run the BuildProp Editor app.
2 - Grant root permissions, when the app prompts for it.
3 - Scroll down through your build prop and find the following value under “BUILD INFO”:
ro.product.model
4 - By default, this should define your device model. In our case it is “ro.product.model=Nexus 6P”.
5 - Change it to the below value:
ro.product.model=Pixel XL
6 - Next, scroll down to the end of the file and add the following line to it:
ro.opa.eligible_device=true
7 - Save and exit the app when everything is done. And reboot the device and then clear the Google App cache in Settings > Apps > Google app, for the changes to take effect.
Summon Google Assistant
To start Google Assistant on your Non-Pixel device, press and hold the “Home” button. Previously, that would bring up Google Now-On-Tap. But now, you shall see the Google Assistant right on your screen. Just go ahead and follow the on-screen instructions to set it up for the first time.
Just as Google Now, the all-new Google Assistant is configurable. Go to Google App > Settings, and tap on “Settings” under “Google Assistant”. This is where you can change your preferences and fill in your personal info.
If you’re unaware of what, and what not Google Assistant could do, you can simply go to “What can you do?” in Google App settings. There, you can get the complete overview of the available commands.
So this was how you can enable Google Assistant on your phone. We can already see the seamless possibilities with Google Assistant. It is indeed one of the most effective innovations by Google. How do you think this is going to the change the way we operate our smartphones? Let us know by dropping a comment below.

Yeah I think I am not going to even bother getting that feature going. They have enough on my life on file as it is. Hahaha! ?
Is it possible to have working Assistant on Nougat, while keeping set your native language on phone (Polish in my case)? I mean - systemolish, Assistant:English.
I did have to change whole system language to get assistant working.

Question Work Profile apps not showing under "App Battery Saver"

Hey All,
I have a new Xiaomi 11T Pro (MIUI 13) and I'm trying to complete "work profile" setup, but fail at the last step because the phone doesn't allow me to disable battery optimization for "Microsoft Defender" app.
When i go to "Settings/Apps/System App settings/Security/Battery Optimsation/App Battery Saver", to disable battery optimization, i can't find any of the "work profile" apps listed.
Appreciate any suggestions you can share to make this phone to use my work profile apps (attached few screenshots for your reference).
Thanks in advance

I have the same on Redmi Note 10 Pro, Miui 12.5.3 Global, and stopped at the very same step.
Did you find any solution?
Not sure to have understood everything, but with regard to Ms defender, keep pressing the icon then information, battery saver, no restriction.

Unfortunately there is no such option. The Defender has been installed centrally via Intue, it appears in work profile and cannot see among installed apps.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mi...nt/android-support-signin?view=o365-worldwide - here similar is described but the workaround simply doesn't exist.

A colleague tried a workaround (see below) and it worked for him but didn't work for me (i have now run into a issue of intune not able to create a work profile after i reset the phone few days back).......
the workaround is -
1. If you already have Company Portal installed and tried configuring, go to next steps
2. Install MS Defender in the personal profile
3. Go to "Settings" -> "Battery" -> on the top tap "Battery" -> "App Battery Saver" you should find MSDefender in the list here -> try setting the battery optimization here.
Apparently by doing so, configures the battery optimization for MSDefender work profile instance as well. Let me know how it goes.

Yeah, I found out finally, OMG, on my Xiaomi, I cannot find by name 'Microsoft' in battery optimization, I had to scroll down manually. For me it was: Settings > Battery optimization > Select 'All apps' > and then scroll down and find 'Microsoft Defender', and select 'Don't optimize'.
However this looks to be a bit overkill method for company use; can this be somehow automated, preferrably with Intune? I tried, but I get stopped at this battery issue.

Question Help - trying to remove the last few niggles

Although I am enjoying the phone, there are a few issues that I struggle to get rid of.
The biggest is the lack of update so I can finally add a card to google wallet, but I'm trying to be patient.
1. Other than that, text messages....As explained earlier, it seems the debloat script removed it for some reason. I want to restore it by adding the script changing the 0 to 1, but I don't know what line referes to the message app. Any ideas? There is nothing in the debloat script saying "message" or "sms/mms"
2. Sometimes I accidently swipe right on the lock screen which produces some Chinese slideshow. Any idea how to disable and maybe add something useful to the swipe action?
3. I'm in light mode but still can't get whatsapp messages and the spotify player on the lock screen.
4. Using company portal, the only keyboard I can pick is Chinese Baidu. Company portal splits your phone in Work and Personal. Work is highly restricted and I can't figure out how to install a new keyboard.

}
5. Using the standard launcher; app icons for the company portal (Outlook/Teams etc) keep moving to the last page on my phone (I have 4 pages of icons). Any idea how to lock them in to place?
Thank you!
Regarding your points :
1. Usually it should be com.android.mms , which isn't on the list you're right, but just try it anyway. If not, try "ADBAppControl" for Windows and search it there. It's also simpler to re/debloat using this program anyways. Or you can try to download (or view) the app in the vivo appstore.
2. Search for the vivo app "interactions" (or long press on the homescreen and tap interactions) which has a icon of a black cube > Now, tap on the lower right corner and select "nothing".
3. Go to Settings > Security > More Security Settings > Device and App Notifications and be sure that Whatsapp and/or Spotify is allowed. You can also check on the homescreen, if you long press on the app, and tap on "App Info" > Notifications > and check "Allow Notifications" > Then check all (needed) "Alert Modes"
EDIT: > 4. Install a new Keyboard from the Playstore (lke Swiftkey or Gboard,..) Go to Settings > Apps & Permissions > Permission Management > Permission Tab > Scroll all the way down to "Default App Settings" > Input Method > Your downloaded keyboard. From there you could also replace other default apps.
> 5. There SHOULD be an extra setting in stock launcher settings.. if I remember correctly from my old X70 Pro+. But can't exactly remember, sorry.
Hope this helps somehow.
Thanks for the advice. Might be easier to just download via Vivo store. Can anyone tell me the name or show me the icon?

In the worst case - but I know that‘s not cool - you can reset your phone and all apps will come back, then debloat carefully using ADBAppControl.
EDIT : Or you could try to install the apk on Apkmirror, but don‘t know if it works :
