How do i update TWRP? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I have TWRP 2.8.7.1
And i would like to install the new 3.0.2.0
How do i update it the easiest and safest way?
I have Nexus root toolkit 2.1.6
Also a side question, how do i know if my bootloader is still unlocked?
I have a custom rom and the phone is rooted, could the bootloader lock and i need to unlock it again?
Thanks ahead!

Developer Edition Bootlloader

I have a simple question.
I recently swapped my GS4 for a HTC One 64GB developer edition. I just like the freedom of custom rom etc. Anyway. I want to make sure the bootloader in unlocked. How do I go about that? Also assuming is unlocked I will nthen need to root before I can install a custom rom correct?
I know very noob questions!
Thank you
I use Hasoon's tool kit here for everything. Plug in and select reboot to bootloader and when it comes up on the phone it should say unlocked.

Awasome...Thank you I'll give it a try!
Ok...so my bootloader is unlocked....I can use the same tool to root? The tool has an option to perm root...is that it? Or do I install custom recovery first?

Hi
greetings,
First install custom recovery
now if you want to be on stock ROM then flash root.
and if you want to flash a custom rom directly flash the custom ROM as custom ROMs are pre rooted roms
and yes perm root is the option.
and using toolkit is a nice way but i would suggest you must try to do things manually. Toolkits are 100% safe but doing things manually increases our knowledge its my personal experience OR you may use toolkits but later at-least give time to read threads which explains things which have to be done manually will help you in future.
JUST MY 2CENTS OF CONSERN
I know I'm unlocked...but not rooted...so my question was if I use the same toolkit to root my phone

[Q] XT1058 Bootloader question.

I have a rooted moto x with a unlocked bootloader. Im using cyanogem atm, but i would like to go to stock again.
I plan on installing a firmware, and i have some questions.
1- Will i lose root?
2- Do i need to unlock the bootloader again?
Thanks in advance
1. Yes but losing root is never a concern with an unlocked bootloader
2. No. Once it's unlocked, it's unlocked until you relock it.
3. Make sure you flash the same firmware or newer.

What if: I want to completely unroot, unlock and install OTA

I am currently Rooted, unlocked bootloader, running a 5.0.2 ROM and TWRP. If I just wanted to unroot, lock boot loader and star from scratch. Meaning, accept OTA, unlock bootloader, root and install TWRP. Is this possible?
Yes.
If you want to make it easy

I wouldn't re-lock these devices ever... maybe if you sell it or turn it in. Too risky. Just use Wugs from that link, once 5.1 is there, flash it using his toolkit. Then root. Done.
I can't believe the amount of threads here and in the Nexus 9 board where guys are bricking their devices due to that darn "OEM unlock" being unchecked.

Recovery?

I have unlocked my bootloader and flashed Sony's Newly Released Bootloaders.
But where do i actually find a recovery for my device?

I don't know what to do, I have unlocked my bootloader and stuff but the forums are so confusing. People just say flash thru recovery and you are good to go. But i don't have a recovery yet. And then they tell people to install NUT's recovery but that cannot be installed without root. And then people tell me to install .270 kernels and it should be rooted. It's still not rooted and i'm ready to give up.
I managed to do everything i wasn't supposed to do and now i have "Unlocked BL" - "NUT's Recovery" - Custom Rom. Is there a easy way to root or is root unnessecary on Unlocked BL?

Is bootloader locked?

I bought the Kenya version from Jumia. Is the bootloader locked? Is there anyway I can tell if its locked or not?
Also, if its unlocked, can I flash a custom recovery then root thru it?
Thanks!
