[Q] XT1058 Bootloader question. - Moto X Q&A

I have a rooted moto x with a unlocked bootloader. Im using cyanogem atm, but i would like to go to stock again.
I plan on installing a firmware, and i have some questions.
1- Will i lose root?
2- Do i need to unlock the bootloader again?
Thanks in advance

1. Yes but losing root is never a concern with an unlocked bootloader
2. No. Once it's unlocked, it's unlocked until you relock it.
3. Make sure you flash the same firmware or newer.

Stock Unlocked Nexus One + root = voided warranty?

Hey Guys
I have bought myself a stock unlocked AT&T version of the Nexus one
It has never been rooted and I am on FRF85 at the moment (that was upgraded from EPE54b to FRF85 using the manual update method
Questions:
1. Does unlocking the bootloader mean you basically sim-unlock your phone?
2. If I have a stock unlocked phone, do I need to unlock the bootloader to root?
3. If I dont need to unlock the bootloader, when/if I decide to root my N1, will I lose warranty?
I guess question 3 is dependent on 2 above
Thanks
Unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with sim unlocking your phone, these are two complete separate things
1 no. but I think there is no locked n1 available, so it is unlocked quite sure
2 maybe, depends on your build number. I think you have to unlock your bootloader with the att version
3 no

regarding rooting without unlocking bootloader, see the sticky in the nexus android development section
@flybyme - thanks for your reply - i had a look at the sticky thread you were talking about rooting without unlocking the bootloader.
1. what's easier? Rooting with unlocking the bootloader or without the bootloader?
2. What's more fool-proof so-to-speak?
3. What would you recommend?
Sorry for so many questions but thanks for reading
1. With unlocking the bootloader is alot simplet BUT you will loose your waranty.
2. Once either process is complete there's no real difference since you can use the custom recovery in exactly the same way to flash any further roms.
3. I would suggest _without_ unlocking the bootloader. At least give it a try, the worst that can happen is it doesnt work.

Question about the Spain Moto X XT1058 unlocking bootloader & more questions

Hey everyone, I just grabbed a Spain variant of the Moto X. The model number is XT1058. I did unlock the bootloader. However, i didn't flash a custom recovery or root the phone yet because I have a couple questions before I go any further..
1. Since the bootloader is unlocked now, will I still receive updates from Motorola/Google or would I have to re-lock the bootloader?
2. If I do flash a custom recovery and root, what roms can i flash...T-Mobile..ATT ..International..etc?
3. I am using the phone with ATT right now...I noticed the data icon goes from H, H+ to 4G....does 4G mean I am picking up ATT LTE?
4. If i wanted to re-lock the bootloader, am I able to with the fastboot command to re-lock it?
Thanks eveyone

Relocking your boot loader will not have any benefits, your warranty is void as soon as you unlock a retail version
You absolutely will receive the ota but you need to maintain the stock rom 100% as it was out of the box, flashing twrp recovery and rooting can easily be done but you will not be able to flash the ota successfully as it checks and requires stock recovery and a unroofed device, that being said you can reflash the stock recovery and unroot and then flash the ota.
Then all you would need to do is reflash twrp and superuser

unlocked bootloader allows you to flash partition images via fastboot. I have not seen any issues with an unlocked bootloader. Also, update to marshmallow if you can,,,,,cause it has native move to SD if you didnt have it 5.1.1

Get unlock code on already unlocked (and rooted) device

Hi,
I have a VIE-AL10, firmware B183. I am trying to update to B195 but I believe I cannot do it because I unlocked the phone.
I don't need the unlocked bootloader anymore (for now) and my idea was to relock it and unlock it again in the future but unfortunely I have lost the code I got using DCUnlocker.
There is a way to recover the code in this unlocked and rooted phone?

Thank you, I imagined that. Any way to recover the unlock code so that I can redo the unlock procedure after I upgraded the phone?
