Battery bank? - OnePlus 3 Accessories

Hello, not sure if this is the correct subforum for this but i have problems charging my OP3 from a powerbank. Using the provided cable with OP3. Starts to charge for 0.00001 seconds, screen turns on and then it cuts off. Battery bank has been working for 2-3 years with my Nexus 5 without any problems. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Have you tried with another power bank? Try also to turn off all radios and hope it works

I've used the following power packs with my OP3 with no issue...
PNY T6600 6600mAh 1/2.4 Amp PowerPack - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R7R1NKA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
OnePlus Power Bank - https://oneplus.net/oneplus-power-bank

yeah well the point is to use this battery bank instead of getting a new one

The 1+ powerbank is at 20 euros, works fine and has decent reviews. 2.5 charges for my oneplus 3, tested.

Someone could charge the OP3 with the Xiaomi 16000 powerbank? I've tried it with the OP3 dash charge cable and it does not start charging.
I'm waiting for other cables to arrive to check it again.

My phone charges fine with my letv bank, but I don't really use the stock cable

Using a cable different from the stock one, it works with the mi powerbank

I've just found that my Xiaomi 10000 powerbank charges the Oneplus 3 using both the original cable and a Rock-branded cable. I haven't tested sufficiently to know whether the choice of cable makes any difference to the charging time.
Hope this helps.

I use an Anker 2. Gen. Astro3 12800mAh with the original OnePlus usb-c cable. It charges without any issues. Maybe you just have found a bad combination of power bank and cable?

Just be aware that it isn't always the portable charger that doesn't work but it could be the cable. Based on the few threads already discussing which aftermarket chargers and car chargers work, you can see a pretty strange pattern of some cables working with a charging unit while others don't.
Just an example, I was testing my 2A Griffin Car Charger last night and it didn't work with the stock cable (Cable that came with the N7). But once I tried it with the cable that came with my Portable Charger, it worked.
My New Trent IMP1000 works with the cable that came with it (retractable with interchangeable micro/mini tips) but not with other cables. That cable also works with several other chargers where other cables don't.
Zagg Sparq
I use this one: http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zaggsparq.php Right now they are giving free pair of 50 dollar headphones with it that are really nice!
I have a New Trent IMP500 and an Energizer PowertoGo. Both will only work if I use the cables and tips that were supplied with the power source. If the screen is on it says charging but the battery level seems to stay the same; if the the screen is off it charged 3% (from 83% to 86%) in 10 minutes - using the New Trent. I have not tested the Energizer yet.

The ZaggSparq is a piece of crap - it suffers from really bad battery drain. Unless you charge it weekly, it'll almost always be empty by the time you need it. I fell for the first generation, which was even worse. Then when they wouldn't replace it, I made the mistake of getting the new version - which STILL has the draining problem.
Get something better - like an Anker.
I picked up the New Trent 12000mah 2a portable power supply.
http://www.amazon.com/New-Trent-Thunderbolt-Blackberry-IMP120D/dp/B003ZBZ64Q
It comes with 2 cables:
-a standard USB to Micro USB (or whatever they call them that come with 99% of devices including the N7)
-what they call a Galaxy Adapter which is nothing more than a 2-3 inch USB extension that you can plug any USB cable in to including an iPad cable.
When i plugged the stock N7 cable in to the power supply (2a outlet) it didn't show as charging.
When i plugged in the standard USB cable that came with the power supply, again it didn't show as charging.
When i plugged in the stock N7 cable to the "galaxy adapter" and then in to the power supply, it did show as charging. Strange that the adapter made a difference but whatever at least it works.
When i plugged in another cable with multiple tips that came with my other Anker Portable charger, that worked too. No adapter required this time.
I did a test and confirmed that with the combinations that work, it is charging at the same rate as the stock wall charger.
The Anker 8000mAh I have charges the Nexus 7 at 2A. You have to use the Anker cable though.
New trent came in before anyone else, mine has been working for a good 3 years.

I like my Sparq a lot. Had it maybe 4 months. Got it on the recommendation of several friends who have all loved theirs. And frequently they are only 50 bucks.
The only issue I have is as stated in the first post, it doesn't work in the 2.1a port. But I haven't found any of the 2.1a chargers I've tried work.

Mi Mix Factory Charger/Type C USB Question/Issue

Hey guys,
A few weeks ago I made a thread about my Mi Mix NOT detecting on any PC despite trying different Type C usb cords and the factory one.
I've never really timed how long it takes to charge my phone and recently I downloaded this Ampere app that measures the voltage and mah.
My Mix was at 40% and I plugged it in and left it in for 20 min and checked the app. It said something like 3.7 voltage and charging at 120mah minimum and 190mah maximum.
From what I'm reading, thats really bad.
So I plugged my phone in with an Anker Type C usb and a charging block from an LG 5.
Phone was now charging at 1600mah ish.
I'm assuming there is an issue with either my charging equipment AND / OR the charging port of my Mix. I've already ordered a new charging port from aliexpress 3+ weeks ago because of my PC unrecognized issue.
Anyway I just want to confirm that getting 120mah- 190mah on the stock charger is NOT normal?
I've ordered this https://www.amazon.ca/AUKEY-Charger-Samsung-Qualcomm-Certified/dp/B00RJO6AHM
and another Anker Type C cord to replace.

I don't have it with me, but I think the original Chinese charger that comes with the Mix is a 2.5A/5V one.
I've never used it, don't trust the Chinese chargers, rather have used an original Xiaomi EU approved (CE marked) charger that came with a Redmi Note 4.
That charger is "only" 2.0A/5V, so you don't get any "fast charging". But the Mix will still get fully charged in max 3 hours, which is fine for me.
And I figure the battery will last longer, it gets quite hot when charging at higher rates.
I know because I tested on a Mi Note 2 which came with a 3.0A EU approved charger. That charger works fine, really fast, and I trust it from a safety point of view - much heavier and thicker than the Chinese one.
But I charge the Note 2 with the 2.0A charger also, to spare the battery.
Normal charging current is 1500mA and up, depending on the chargers capacity. It will be less towards the end of the charging cycle, when the battery is nearly full, and sometimes also in the beginning, for some reason.
Don't understand why, never figured that out.

well it sounds like my factory charger is messed. 190ma when it should be getting at least 1000ma. I hope that the Aukey charger I ordered is safe for it, I've done some reading with other xiaomi phone owners and they've purchased it but I haven't seen a Mi mix owner review it. It says its CE approved.

Aukey has a good reputation, but I prefer the Xiaomi original EU approved chargers, just because they are "Xiaomi". (and I am located in the EU, of course.)
There "might" be some sort of intelligent interface built in that especially suits the Xiaomi phones.
No particular reason to believe so, just color me superstitious.

i understand you. It is typically safer to always go with factory rather than aftermarket. But in my case, my phone is not charging correctly as I'm only seeing 190ma on the amp meter.:crying:

That can and does happen on certain custom ROMs and rapid charge doesn't kick in all the time. I can also say I had this issue on lg g5 and the charger proved to faulty on this occasion. So try the new port with old charger see how it goes. If no improvement try a different charger, the ones that come with the phone are very good. IMO

the new charger and cord are getting me fast charge now!
Bought a CHOETECH 50W 6-Port Desktop Charger last year and attached it to my bedside table; one of the best purchases I've ever made; quickcharge 3 on two ports and one power adapter in place of the 3 or 4 individual chargers I used to have. Bargain.

Battery won't charge with anything other than powerbank/PD

I'm having some issues with charging my 9T Pro (running xiaomi.eu miui 10.5 (9.9.6)), which I've had since August. Recently, if I connect the phone to no name 2A USB-A chargers, it will barely charge (or not charge at all). I mean like 1% an hour or so (it does say charging).
If I connect it to a PD or powerbank that does QC3, it will charge quickly.
Has this happened to anyone else? I'm thinking about ditching MIUI for LineageOS or something similar, so maybe I'll wipe in the future, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.
This just started happening the last few days.
It's not charging cause the charge controller is not able to negotiate current link with the charger.
Are you able to charge with the power bank with the same wire as the charger one or it's a separate cable for the power bank?
If it's the same wire then the 2a charger you mentioned is busted.
Thank you, I didn't think to change the cables but indeed I had 3 bad cables (I found one good cable by measuring charge rate with Ampere app, then checked all my chargers: all were fine, and one was even fast charging now when it wouldn't with the other cable).
Good advice, and the phone is happy again.

Accessories 2-3m Cable

Does anyone know of a 2-3m cable that max's out the charger? I tried the Acaget 2M cable but checking the battery app on the phone right now it says the original cable is taking 12 minutes to charge, I tried the new cable and while it does say Mi Turbo Charge it's taking 24 minutes.
Also does anyone know of a USB-C to USB-A Male Adapter that supports 6a 67w? I have a 100w PD 2m cable from Wotobe but both ends at USB-C and the charger is USB-A
12 or 24 minute charging is impossible with the 67w charger even under Xiaomi test conditions
They claim 36 minutes is possible but that would be in a lab with zero apps, wifi, 5g, Bluetooth running in the background and controlled temperature to prevent throttling
Regardless of cable

Because thats the percentage my phone was at when the new cable arrived.
I plugged it in and it took a sec to switch to Mi Turbo Charge while the original cable says Quick Charge then Mi Turbo Charge so i used the battery app to see what was going on.
Try from 0-100%
Generally a 3x longer cable won't carry the full 67w from the brick to the phone without some loss

I've bought 3 cables from Geek and 1 from Aliexpress, the 3 from geek said 6A or 100w and struggled on my Huawei p30 pro nevermind this Mi 11 Ultra lol. The one from Aliexpress is 100w USB-C on both ends so i'm looking for an adapter that can support 11v/6.1a - 20v/3.25 which is difficult.
I found one earlier but its's only 20v/3a

It's from ugreen , they make cables for years so I doubt they would lie about specs... It's not some random name. Its 5A though , 20v 5a... Idk there's 67W cables as well but it's no name brands saying for mi 11 ultra "original" z:
I would actually look for 6A cable only , I personally have 5A cable 2meters and it charges slower than my 6a cable that came with phone...
Ah fuk... I looked at review of the cables that are in transit towards me and everyone says they are not as advertised , charging slow lmao...
Well I can't help you buddy... Buy from ugreen , anker , baseus and only if they have 6A cables...
Fk these no names... I'll start dispute as soon as it gets here
The more feedbacks and descriptions that I read the more scummy all of those Chinese Sellers seem to be...
Not a single one of those 100W chargers charges at 100W actually , many report much slower charging even on 33W phones. They even tucked away in to picture that it charges xiaomi phones at 18-27W , Samsung at 15W and Huawei at 40W ...
So yeah something is not quite right....
Most likely they don't have the correct chips inside cables to facilitate higher charging speeds. Either chip shortage or manufacturers just aren't following qualcom guidelines / aren't releasing schematics to them...
Idk , all ik is that I'm pretty sad now. 99.9% of cables are all fake/not capable so if my stock cable dies I'll practically never be able to reach the same charging speeds
I'll prolly do a more thorough search sometime later ... Fucvk

Yeah, I agree. There needs to be a guide for how to whine on XDA.

using different charging cable + source

I know the x3 original cable is 3a, but I don't have that anymore.
What I use is 6a cable from oneplus phone and some 3a source that come with extension cord.
Is that alright?
Just this morning I happened to try 3 different cables (factory+2) on two different chargers (none of which the original) -- all of them caused the phone to report turbo-charging...
FYI, I'm on custom RROS 8.6.9. But I'd advise to throttle charging back to at least 90% to extend battery life, BTW.
Guys, even some cheap cable can handle over 5A, i've tested 3 different cables and all pass through, no heat, no problem
All tested with Ampere app.
i dont know why but my phone is with genuine charger and only gets to 950mah charging - amepere

What about 2m cable though? Do I need one rated for fast charging?
For me an old qualcom 2.0 charger + original cable work the best. Somewhat slower than the original charger, but the accu lasts longer.
