Can I install N920C stock ROM on AT&T N920A mobile
I would like to know if it is possible to install one model's stock ROM on another without any problem.
I have an AT&T SM-N920A mobile which is rooted on lollipop. So I am not getting any OTA updates. If I install N920A Marshmallow stock ROM, it will carrier lock my device which I don't want as I am living in middle east.
Need advice from all the techies around here...

Thanks Rx8Driver... Firstly, what is meant by "fw package"? Secondly, what other software can help me do that flashing. I want to flash it with N920C Marshmallow Stock ROM.

Fw package is just short for firmware package and here it is in a nutshell, i believe at&t has locked bootloader, that being the case you can't flash a custom recovery like twrp to allow you to flash the rom only, which means you're sick with two options 1)anything Odin-flashable or (maybe)2. Adb push if you turn on USB debugging....that said, you don't sound like someone comfortable with using Linux to connect via adb and run command line terminal commands to push files and set permissions, not to mention some things will require root- so I'm gonna say, really, your only option is Odin, so unless you can find a full set of PIT files and are competent recovering from Odin errors and repartitioning your device i wouldn't even recommend that...anything short of that, or a factory supplied repair bootloader isn't going to allow odin to flash firmware for another device variant (eg A to C)...and even the repartitioning trick is hit or miss, I've seen successes and failures, but one thing for sure, 2 things for certain- you need to be capable of recovering from odin flash errors and possibly even corrupt partitions before attempting any of this...i would sell my device and buy a variant of your choosing before i bricked it...unless you're comfortable taking a LOT of time to read for about 3 months and flash after new years when everything I've just said fits together like puzzle pieces.....fwiw...

If I'm wrong and you have an unlocked bootloader than just flash latest supersu in odin then latest twrp, reboot to recovery with the button combo, and use twrp to flash whatever rom-only or rom/kernal package you want...flashing in recovery doesn't touch (usually) your bootloader or modem (ril) layers (partitions) like a factory odin full firmware does....this is why it's often necessary to upgrade by odin before flashing certain roms you'll find on xda...anytime the bootloader has to be updated (and that's usually any new factory firmware "base" to be released) out takes an odin flash to do it...then reroot, install twrp again, etc etc...

This is a development question that I am certain some of you might have an answer for. What we do know is that the bootloader on Chinese i9100g's is locked and will block you from flashing "SBL, MSO, Modem," everything else can be mixed and matched if from the same platform.
Now assuming we have a way to avoid the lock and replace the bootloader, is it possible to replace the Chinese bootloader with another from India or Malaysia? or is this also somehow locked in the chipset firmware? I doubt that Samsung would bother to alter the product at that level for one market.

Modified CM9 kernel
We've been looking for a way to replace it for a long time now to no avail. If there was a way, a lot of people would be frantic to try out the leaked ICS from China when it first got posted.
Having a Chinese phone myself, I can deal with the bootloader, since everything else is basically changeable through some methods, whether it's through Mobile Odin, or CWM.

I've been stuck with the leaked bootloader in order to use ICS, it works fine but I know there is some kind of backdoor the Government has mandated to avoid a repeat of the so called Jasmine revolts, working at ZTE China has given me a little extra information.

btw how to flash DXPL6 kernel? i failed using odin to pick a extracted zimage in PDA.

I don't know if other people have asked this question, but I read a lot about locked bootloaders (and yes, I've been there with my own phone xD) and they talk about how it's not really possible (?) to flash custom ROMs with phones like that.
I have an unlocked SM-G900A and I'm on T-Mobile, but I really need the Wifi Calling.
Will the bootloader think it's a non-verified custom rom?
I don't want to send my phone to Samsung again...lol
Thanks!
You should be fine, i'm running a tmo rom currently, not sure if WiFi calling would work though.

Also, before I start flashing, if anyone knows about Sammobile firmwares- do they have modems inside the .md5?

Question: if I am on kitkat 4.4.4 it would not be wise to install these lollipop 5+ modems/ bootloaders correct?
I purchased a note 4 but the imei is null and baseband unknown. currently looking for some solutions and i found my way here...
any suggestions would be nice also haha

If you are on Stock Touchwiz 4.4.4 you will need to flash a 5.1.1 ROM in order to use the newer modems and bootloaders. IMEI number can be lost if something happens to the EFS partition. You could try to flash a stock firmware for your device model and your region; a factory reset may also be helpful, though my guess is that there isn't much that can be done unless you have a back up of the EFS partition which you can restore.

appreciate the very fast reply. thank you.
I am hesitant to upgrade to 5 as i am not sure if i can return to 4 if need be or if it may be easier to fix this mess in 4 perhaps.
I wonder if its possible to use some1 else backup and then change the imei parameters in the efs folders. at least then all i have to worry about is getting an imei changed back to my own. i doubt its that simple tho of course. :s its been a long day.

If you haven't triggered your KNOX counter then you will have to flash an entire firmware because the modems and bootloaders require the ROM to be of the same firmware.

This may be dependent on what ROM you are currently running. The files I provide are unmodified as I have simply extracted them from the Odin flashable firmware.

Hello everyone! I'm back and have the latest G900AUCS4DQC1 full Odin update to share with you all. With this, you may update from ANY version you currently have. Simply flash all 4 files after you extract using Odin and you will be on the latest and newest update.

If for any reason you wish to downgrade, you can safely flash any of the following full Odin firmware's without any issue. If phone hangs after flashing on startup, boot into recovery and perform factory wipe/reset and it will boot up fine after that.

No, it will not lock your phone again. Also, I recommend using SmartSwitch from Samsung to upgrade. Just install it on Windows and select the recover option, follow the wizard, put your phone in download mode, and wait for it to finish.
stock
Please is it an official rom and hope it won't crash my phone
THIS IS FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY J7 METRO PCS VERSION. DO NOT FLASH ON OTHER VARIANTS.
If you have messed up your system while trying to root and need J700T1UVU3AQC3 firmware to recover, or if you just need to upgrade to the latest firmware, here is the official unmodified Rom:
Download link:
https://mega.nz/#!ltcgwYLZ!R0n3FyaDUCtY8yiMrppFpbxNaSHnjiSUZSMQiU_o-kk
1- The firmware is on Mega servers. Please use a PC to download. If you have to use your mobile device to download, use the Mega app or set your browser to "desktop".
2- The firmware files are zipped. They should be unzipped and flashed via Odin.
3- This version upgrades the bootloader version to 3 and therefore downgrading to previous versions becomes impossible. So if you are happy with your current firmware and you think you may change your mind after the upgrade, stay away from this.
3- Rooting this firmware is possible through flashing TWRP via Odin and then superSU via TWRP. As I am sure you are well aware, that process will trip your Knox flag and renders your warranty void.
4- As usual, I share this with you AS IS and I have no responsibility if it breaks your phone. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

The metro qc3 works nice in the T-Mobile and does not harm it any way, I did mine , no problem
Rooting is a problem with this security 3 since no TWRP is working with this version yet. But there is a eng root boot.img out which does the job, they charge 50 USD for this file.

I don't know if someone uploaded a different version of twrp or what, but the ones that have been on xda for the past 8 months do the job fine. I switch between the twrp for the j7, then the j700T specific twrp. I don't run stock, but all the roms I run with this twrp and all 3 kernels I use in development I also root through these recoveries.
@ Droid, what ROM are you running?
My Tmobile j700t qc3 had no issues when using j700t1 qc3 all was good. But twrp not working with qc3. Maybe yours was different firmware. But looking at other Samsung Tmobile and Metro pcs I never had an issue cross flashing them. Maybe you used not compatible firmware when you Lost efs , usually that happens when using lower bit or wrong modem file.
