its not an apk, i tried the apk still didnt work you need the newer firmware, im with telus. obviously will need root to do this.
Downlaod apk should work. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2cmbkeyamj...dStub.apk?dl=0
install ael kernel v5, clear cache dalvik, reboot
download apk from above link
After downloading apk you wont see that app, I used Nova, created a shortcut, chose activities, then vrsetupwizardstub, then samsung gear vr, then hit the created shortcut and done. or you can download quick short cut maker from the play store
then when you install phone into gear vr the first time everything should be golden!
Was going to try and avoid having to root but I don't have much patience to wait for lollipop and don't want $200 collecting dust so I will try this. Thanks
*you link is not working though*
Can you also link me to the thread for that kernel thanks
Alight let's try again.
Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...pment/30-november-2014-n4-ael-kernel-t2961240
Vr setup apk https://mega.co.nz/#!7xd2xDob!uqqCiYYpTaDIoenAK4H-cBTineKRG4xiTp-ZlVb6P98
Dk 3.0 rom in t-mobile android dev forum
1. Flash rom first
2. Flash kernel right after do not boot after flashing the rom! or it will bootloop. If you do then boot into recovery and flash kernel
3. After downloading apk you wont see tha app, I used Nova, created a shortcut, chose activities, then vrsetupwizardstub, then samsung gear vr, then hit the created shortcut and done. or you can download quick short cut maker from the play store

Cant I use the kernel with just the stock bell mobility rom one rooted?
Mine wouldn't boot with the stock Telus kernel. Plus ael is really nice. Try it if works great if not flash ael.
Flashed all on top of my bell stock rom and it worked, ran the vr setup and still didn't work then realized that it is most likely the phone software/build that needs to be a newer version. Just Flashed dk 3 with ael kernel and will try setup and report back.
I have cm12 on my note the unofficial version is there anything I can do to make the setup.work on this rom
i flashed firekat with the ael kernel and when i start up the vrsetup wizard it still tells me my phone needs to be upgraded, what am i doing wrong?
edit: figured it out, if you are installing firekat you have to install the version 7 regular version not the canadian one, then flash AEL on top and it works.
still wondering if its possible though to get this going on AOSP.

Anyone? I'm trying to do the same thing. Didn't know that it's an exclusive app that is only enabled with the Gear VR.

I've tried this several times to see if i can get Oculus Home to run properly with a Google Cardboard. Furthest I can tell you I got was loading up developer mode in Gear VR service to run downloaded apps from the Oculus store. Depending on what kernel and version of lollipop you're running you may run into some odd screen errors. However, low persistence mode should change your screen display to a bright flickering when developer mode is enabled. After loading up a downloaded app/game from oculus within Gear VR service you won't be able to look around because the tracking data is specific to enhancements made by the Gear VR HMD.
Long story short, you could theoretically play bluetooth controller enabled games. You wouldn't have any headtracking

Yep. I recently figured that out. It uses the headtracking in the Gear VR headset. I originally thought it was just a fancy shell. Apparently now. I wish there was a mod to be able to use the Note 4's gyros. But there are mods out there where people are creating headtracking circuit boards. But that seems out of my league.

Yea... I'd say wait for Rift CV1 if you got a good computer. Gear VR is just a novelty piece tbh. You can only use it in short bursts of time until it overheats. I'd say an hour at max without a fan blowing into your face. Don't get me wrong though, it's worth the $99USD price tag to experience and share with family and friends.

will never work. Not fully. Its optimzed for the Gear VR headset depending on the display size as well.
not sure anybody still cares but i went to a friends house in VT a few weeks back, got a Gear VR delivered to his place by amazon.com, brought it back home (canada) and I have an american VPN and had no issues at all to set it up, I have access to any and all US only content such as MilkVR. It seems, unlike the playstore, the content is geo-restricted and doesnt take into account the billing info on your samsung account. If anybody has issues, try a free VPN, or rent one for a month.
Is anyone still looking/having issues with the Gear VR on Note 4 in canada using the Arcadia lollipop 5.1.1 Rom by Emporia.
My headset worked, asked me (in a vr environment) to remove the headset and install the necessary apps. once complete, it had me re-insert my phone into the headset, only to display a single image of the welcome screen and then hang on the health and safety warning, (that was also in 2d and only viewable in its entirety without the headset on.
if I remove the phone, within a brief second it shows "calibrating" before it realizes it has been disconnected. and the oculus software shuts down.
I appreciate any help anyone could provide, I too hate the idea of the money having been wasted on something that no longer works at all.
So I got the virtual reality headset for my s6 the other day and it isn't working right with my s6. I'm wondering if anyone else bought it and got it working? I'm also on the firmware that we can root so I'm wondering if I need to update to the most recent firmware so it can work right.
I'm on 5.1.1, but I had to do a factory reset to get the facebook app manager to install correctly. I'm not super thrilled about having to use all the facebook apps. (yes I know Facebook owns oculus now) If you used any of the package disablers, make sure to unfreeze all the facebook apps before you start installing the oculus apps.
I figured out what the problem was. I needed to update to 5.1.1 . It was hard for me to do cause I didn't want to lose root. I did the upgrade and it works great. For 99$ the gear vr 2 is really cool. The only thing that sucks is that the apps are pretty expensive.
Just to save anyone disabling their Gear VR, the just released 6.0.1 beta OS update for S6/S6 edge doesn't work with the Gear VR, no change from the 6.0 release.
Don't go there if you wanna play Just wait for release
On the plus side, package disabler pro still works, so you can still play a bit (see other posts about disabling gear software launcher)
Thanks

i almost get it working and install every gear vr app install seperatly, but now i have to update oculus and that's not gone happen....
Hopefully, with the beta closing today, the release shouldn't be far behind.. Once that happens, then Oculus will hopefully update their side.
it don't work for me (network error) until yesterday I installed aterminator rom (6.0.1) connected to gear vr and it installed the setup normally.
OK - something seems to have changed for me - on 6.0.1 beta (G925FXXU3ZPA1/G925FBTU3ZPA1/G925FXXU3ZPA1) and it now works as it should (plug it in, with the gearVR service running, launch oculus, and no network error.. It installs all the bits and bobs and WAHEY!
Anyone else care to try?

That does not work for me. I still have to use developer mode to get the gear vr working on 6.0.1 beta
i see oculus was updated today - and i'm keen to try the MM beta. Anyone already on MM confirm if this update fixes the gear vr issues?
Still working fine here - but then it was working for me before the Oculus update (which I did get). It did re-set itself up after the update (as if it were a new install), but kept all the apps/config.
What's the Update on the Situation ? Can I somewhere get the VR Setup File ?
First time I plugged the GearVR in after the 6.0.1 update, it automatically did an update to the software (you get a voice instruction about removing your device from the headset). After a few steps on the screen about installation (can't remember them exactly, I'm afraid), it was up and running - no special actions, or workarounds needed.
All the security and intermediate updates haven't broken it since, at least for me.
Phone software (S6 edge): 6.0.1 (G925FXXS3DPB3)
Oculus Software: 1.17.7 (29547194)
Hello everyone,
After receiving the Android 7.0 update on my AT&T Active, I have noticed that the three required GearVR com files are back.
https://ibb.co/cAGf8F
They were present in Android 5.0.2, but were removed in 5.1.1.
Here is my software info:
https://ibb.co/jMWf8F
I thought to research more into this to see if we can use the active on the 2017 gearVR.
Hardware-wise, the problem is pretty simple. The only thing keeping the phone from fitting into the gearVR is the micro-USB port. In this thread, you can see in the third to last post that someone modified the connector.: https://forums.oculus.com/community...ng-galaxy-s6-active-officially-not-compatible
I ended up doing the same thing to the connector, and it can now fit the S6 Active:
The final issue is the two helper services needed for the gearVR software to work. The gearVR setup software does not automatically pop up when you plug the phone into the gearVR. I used an app to make a shortcut to Gear VR setupwizardstub to see if I could download the software. The app pops up, but gives this error:
https://ibb.co/jQN92a
Supposedly, this is because com.facebook.appmanager (aka "App Manager") and com.facebook.system (aka "Installer") are not present.
I downloaded com.facebook.appmanager off of apkmirror, but can not find com.facebook.system anywhere.
Does anyone have com.facebook.system, or any other info relating to this whole process?
May be you can find it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-active/help/s7-active-gear-vr-mod-t3434748/page2
ive been trying to get the s7 active to work with gear VR..
and after MANY hours getting the right software etc .. i started getting into logcat's ..
and only then did i find that, some how, our phones COMPLETELY block out the gearVR
as there is NO logcat activity ATALL when you plug them in ..
compare that to a HTC, a LG.... of which that logs the activity, but errors out when not able to find the right software...
so after having a poke about, i can only put it down to some kind of kernel lockout/block ??
As some of you know, Samsung not only stopped supporting Samsung VR, they actually sabotaged the app totally by not allowing new installs to open.
Essentially there is a user agreement that you have to agree to but it requires an “internet connection” to accept but this is the part which was sabotaged.
I believe that Samsung took the verification server offline so the app always thinks you are not connected.
I need someone to look into how that verification happens and how it can be circumvented.
As a backup, if anyone knows a SPECIFIC version of Samsung VR app which does not have this verification process (sideloaded) please post the version.
UP i need too please somebody help
anyone who has a samsung vr app backup via titanium backup please share
Only the old ones work without Internet connection. The last working one is Samsung VR 1.59.4.
Check here: android-apk.org/com.samsung.vrvideo/
It also works with the Oculus Go.
Can anyone test this with an Oculus Quest 2 ?
this is backup from titaniumbackup

Made a little progress....
I was playing around trying to get Gear VR to work on my new Galaxy S20 plus, I tried installing Occulus from the app store but when I plugged the phone into the GearVR nothing would happen, so I Extracted all the Occulus and GearVR apps from my old S9 into APK's and then sideloaded them onto my S20, and now when I plug it in, it tries to load the setup program but it comes up with an error saying I have no network connection.... is there any way around this?
hi,
i found workaround
1. uninstall Gear VR SetupWizard ( 3.2.03.9 )
2. install version ( 3.0.21 ) from aptoide : https://gear-vr-setupwizard.pl.aptoide.com/app
3. run setup, configure, upgrade to newest version
and it works

Hi. We have tried to put the 3.0.21 version on and it has installed on phone but don't know how to get it to link with the Gear VR (SMR325) . Anyone with suggestions?
Hi guys, does any one have the full package of apps - I also got a S20 and wanted to try with my old Gear VR R325 headset - it works finr with my Galaxy Note 9 but is not rooted so cant extract the APK's.

Just tried. It doesn't work. It installs fine, opens fine (no messages), shows that gridded floor pattern (of very old versions of Samsung VR) but nothing else happens (no buttons to click on, no nothing. Just void.
Did you find a way to make Samsung VR to work on Quest 2 ?

I have the APK for version 2.12.7 and it works fine in my Gear VR with Samsung Galaxy S7 (yes, the phone still works too).
I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but it's not only the verification server they shut down. The whole online video server was shut down. So, I do see a "No internet connection" message, but I'm still able to click the other buttons and explore my local media folders using this app, which is exactly what I want to do.
However I was not able to port this version (or any other APK I found) to my Quest 2. The closest I got was to install an Oculus Go APK on the Quest 2, but when I open the app and the "No internet connection" message appears, my Quest 2 controllers are not recognized, so I can't click anywhere to browse my folders. Is that your issue too?
Anyways, I'm in desperate need of a Samsung VR APK that works with Quest/Quest 2. Please let me know if you come across this APK.
I have the same problem with my new Galaxy S10+ now. I cannot accept the terms and conditions in Samsung VR because it says "no internet connection". I tried with SIM and wireless also, but no luck.
I have a Galaxy S9+ too, there i accepted Samsung VR terms and conditions long before Samsung switched off the verification server. So on the S9+ i can still use Samsung VR.
Even tho I noticed in the recent months that on the S9+ it also says "no internet connection", but probably in the appdata folder is a flag or file which they check if you accepted their ToS. If thats not there you cannot go forward to the main menu of Samsung VR.
So I see only one way and this would be you need a Titanium Backup from the Samsung VR app where the ToS are already accepted. Then you also would need to root the new phone that you can install Samsung VR with app data right?
Or is there any way to inject appdata of Samsung VR to your new phone without having root access?
Someone tried that if that even works?

Can confirm that restoring app+data won't work.... at least the backup I found in this thread not.
Restored app+data in Titanium backup and still asks to accept terms with no internet connection..
Best regards,
Niels
I just fixed it, the app checks a txt file in the root Android\data\com.samsung.vrvideo folder. I made a zip file of that folder from my Galaxy S9+, it works at the S10+ too. Just copy that folder with the subfolders and the file inside to "Android\data\"
This folder is avaiable even without root. Even tho I dont see any content in that folder with the normal file manager on the phone, but once you plug your Galaxy to a regular PC you can access that Android/data folder.
So when you unzip it, the path to the file should look like this:
Android\data\com.samsung.vrvideo\files inside that folder 2 files: "VR360Video_3_00_0_EULA_agreed.txt" and "MVRI.txt"
My Samsung VR App now opens without that EULA message and works in offline mode.
Let me know if its working!

Great! Yeah I was surprised too, that no one else found it out before. I almost deleted it while resetting my S9+ but then I checked that Android/data folder lol...
I must be missing something here. Aside from the Android\data\com.samsung.vrvideo\files directory and associated files, what other apk's should be installed? I've installed the oculus app from the Play store and it still does not launch when I place my S21 into the Gear VR headset.
The play store oculus app does not work with gearvr. It has to be installed by the gearvr setup app.
can someone explain/walk me through the process like i'm 5. Just pulled out my gear vr for the first time in a year and am trying to get it to work with my old s9+ that had to be factory reset.
