HTC One m7 | CyanogenMod 12.1 Overheating and Battery Issues - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello dear xda-Community,
I'm using my old HTC One m7 again (because why not ) and this time I tried out many CFWs. My favourite is as always CM using the latest SNAPSHOT version 12.1.
My Problem now is, that CM overheats very fast and some Battery Issues (Fast draining and spontaneous reboots under ~30%)
Overheats even if I'm just browsing the Interwebz
Battery drops from 100% to ~85% trough the night, with all Apps shut down
What I have tried to change in CM:
Changed permissions trough AppOps, so Keep Awake, GPS and Draw on Top was disabled in almost every App (Battery drains in night from 100% to ~95%).
Used Custom Kernels, where the AGK Kernel helped with the Overheating Problem, but still to hot!
I've even tried out to set the Kernel settings in AGK using CM as they were set in RevolutionHD CFW, with no success
In RevolutionHD 93 I can play Games, watch Videos, do everything I want, it runs like a charm.
Is there something I haven't tried out? Maybe a special version of CM, or an "secret/underground" Kernel? :fingers-crossed:
I hope you can help me, I hope I gave you enough informations AND I hope my english is not as bad as I think it is x)
ps. Always got things to work on my Android with YOUR help and this is my first time post made on xda
Hope you can help me this time,
Regards,

[Q] HTC One Battery Drain(mA)

Hey Guys!
I really like this forum and I saw you always get help here when u have problems.
So here I have a simple question and I hope a few people have a little time and ambitions to help me with it.
I always felt my battery drains quite fast since I installed Android Revolution HD, now I'm still on Android Revolution 9.3 and its not better since then. So I installed Battery Monitor Widget, because it seems it's the only widget which actually shows the battery drain of the HTC ONE(M79
in mA.
So my values are often between 200-600mA(mostly 299), even when I'm on Homescreen and it should be idle except the background processes.
It would be nice if someone could post me his values so I have something to compare.
I'm running on Android Revolution 9.3 with ROMCleaner NO-Sense.
Thx for help.

Those values are normal for screen on and idle Deep sleep after about 10 minutes of screen off should be around 10-15mAh
Okay this i can unterstand, but can u confirm that your phone drains about 1A(1000mA) while gaming and gets really warm oO
Warm up during gaming is normal for quadcore phones
Sent via my Google Nexus 7 | 32GB.WiFi
yeah the warming up, but the 1A drain ? and even in deep sleep my phone drains 350mA, if i can believe the log of battery monitor widget.
I had a battery drain faster issue after I installed two mods. One is the sound volume one and the other one is I think the one with the volume wake up. Afterwards, I found the battery drained super fast - 10% per hour even idle!
I redid the ROM(ARHD 12.0 at the time), then changed to another ROM but didn't fix it.
Eventually I have to reinstall the firmware! Don't know which part, I suspect the sound volume one modified the firmware somehow triggers something very bad.
Hope this helps.

Phone gets warm after update.

Hello.
I was using evolution HD version 10.2 then 10.3 and every thing was fine until last night when I updated it to version 11.
Straight away i have noticed that the phone is getting very warm which didn't happened before.
It's getting warm even when browsing websites.
So first thing I did was to wipe my phone clean but that didn't help even though I haven't restored anything.
Next i tried installing different roms but heating problem didn't go away.
Can anyone tell me what the problem may be.?
Just tested it on Cyanogenmod and didn't noticed any heating up at all.
Can anyone provide a link to Revolution HD 10.3 as this was working perfectly fine on my phone.
I'm surprised I can't see anyone else complaining about heating up issue with version 11 in Evolution HD thread.
I think it's getting hot because maybe you did a lot of activity once you flashed the Rom...and were you charging your phone by any chance? This is a quad core phone and should get hot with high cpu usage
I know that the cpu can get hot when in use but that didn't happened before when browsin websites.
I was just comparing it with cyanogenmod going from one rom to another and back and with the same activity revolution hd 11 heats up my phone a lot lot more.
And no it wasn't plugged to a charger.

[Q] Battery drain

Hi mates, i recently root my HTC ONE and installed both Android Revolution HD with Sense, and also ElementalX kernel.
I do it in that order, then I reboot but...
Battery drops 1% every 10 minutes without usage...
¿Can you please help me?
I'm new in the forum but I have a rooted Moto Xoom, so I now what I am doing, but not what I am doing wrong...
Sorry for my English.
I have just use BatteryCalibration (when I was 100%) but nothing seems to change.
I also tried, right now, with Power Guard, but I am not sure it does anything....
I wait for some answers, please be explicative if you can.
Thanks a lot, nice to meet you all.
install better battery stats. that'll point you in the right direction in trying to figure out what's eating your battery up.
greenify is really good at reducing battery use, but batteryguru is really useful once it has finished its learning phase. Also, have you got the latest firmware installed for the rom?
It is the last version. The 30.
I am going to install BetterBateryStats. Whats next?
I think installing the ROM with low battery can be an issue. Can it help to reinstall ROM?
Ido not know if matters, but Sense 5 mods are not working even restarting.
.thanks in advance, i will wait for answers
I have some new information.
Battery drains a little slower, but when I entered Camera app, it does not appear Zoe option, although it is the native application.
I must say that I have flashed my rom through the recovery mode, not fastboot. ¿It is needed?
Search the thread for this, as it is mentioned in there. Also mentions possible fixes and causes.

I think installing custom kernel kills zoe.

same problem battery drain
i also have the same problem
my battery drains like 2% every 5 minutes although it is in sleep, screen locked.
i don't know what is draining my battery like this bad.
Try to disable Google Now "search" features.
Then Go to settings --> power --> disable "fast boot"
reboot phone properly using menu
Check battery drain. Note 100-98% goes fast then slows down
Enable google now search.

Hi everyone, pretty much my first post on here (second in all honesty) after reading hundreds of post into flashing/installing a custom ROM. I have always ran stock Samsung but with root, but I wanted more and I was fed up with Samsung and other rogue apps causing wakelocks (kind of became an OCD thing trying to get rid of them). Was determined not to ask for help with so many threads saying the same thing, so I just too the plunge and thought fk it yolo and flashed CM10 onto my device.
Didn't really have a clue what I was doing but got there eventually. Used CWM and downloaded what I thought was the only stable version of CM. I scared myself at first as it was just stuck on the CM boot, did a bit of reading and forgot to do the factory reset and wipe, did that and it all ran smoothly.
After spending hours of fiddling last night, I'm now wondering if it's worth getting CM 11 or should I stick to 10? I barely use anything complicated on my phone, solitaire is about the only game that I play, main thing is just battery life and phone functionality and internet browsing. Also are there any settings that I should be looking into?
I always ran one power guard with stock rom, but after installing it onto CM I found it was causing the phone to never enter deep sleep, uninstalled it and it's pretty good now, has anyone else experienced this? Does CM have pretty good built in battery management or should I look at getting some kind of task killer/battery management software? Couldn't risk leaving it unplugged last night to check battery as my gf needed the alarm for this morning and didn't want to risk it going flat in the night and getting an earfull from her
Thanks in advance for any tips/help.
First of all, you need to know what causes the battery drain in our smart phone no matter what ROM to are in.
They are mainly 3things. 1. Data usage, 2. Screen brightness and 3. GPS. So if you turn off data, turn the brightness down and turn off GPS. You will get pretty good battery performance in all Roms.

for the moment stay with stable CM10...in CM11 are a lot of bugs...today it's working nice...tomorrow it's unusable...
no need for 3rd party software for battery saving...all ROM's have ok battery life...but on stock is a noticeable difference.
Thanks for the replies. After leaving the phone idling for most of the morning I've noticed it's not sleeping. BBS is showing KWL is mdm_hsic_pm0
I've been trawling the net trying to figure out what it is, but everything I've read turns into a dead end. In the android battery stats it shows as Android OS. If i reboot the phone it seems to put it back in check, but obviously I don't want to be rebooting my phone all day!
Got very minimal apps running so it's really confuddling me.
Cheers in advance

[Q]HELP...ViperOne M8 4.2.0 Battery Life

I have read a lot of threads saying how horrible the battery life is on this Lollipop Rom. I love ViperOne Roms!!! I have loved them since the M7 days and dont like to run any other Rom. My only complaint is the battery life of this particular version of the Rom, 3 .2.1 was amazing! I just wanted the Lollipop and such. My question is...? Has anyone found a kernel or something that gets better than 4-6 hours of phone use. I unplug my phone at 6am Monday-Friday and by noon I am at 15-10% I don't play games.. I am E-mailing, SMS, Music, Talk (6-10 calls lasting 2-3 mins each) surfing the web. I don't use my phone any different than the 3.2.1 version of the ROM and I would be at 30-40% at 6pm . Someone Please Help Me Out Or Point Me In The Right Direction. Thank you and sorry this post is so long.
So not knowing what you've tried and what you haven't but have you looked at wakelocks? It seems to me that is almost always the issue regardless of ROM.
I ran 4.2 for a few days and my battery life was fine. I would 12-15 hours with no problem and would be in the mid 30%s at the end of the day. No custom kernel or any special themes, just stock with several of the tweaks.
Also make sure you're not running xposed. IMO it adds nothing anyway and usually causes more problems than anything else.
I too stick with Viper but can't stay on the 4.2.0 version yet because of the WiFi calling issue and I need it to work as I have poor coverage where I live.
I'm not running Xposed, and I haven't been able to find a kernal that will work. I'm on Sprint
