Anyone having a charging dock which is OK to use in the dark?
I'm now using a dock which is difficult to plug the phone in at night without using the light and as I don't want to wake up anyone during my struggle
So suggestions are more than welcome (my wife says 'thank you')

Hello all...Long time lurker, not alot of posts....Yes I searched. I sent in my N1 to HTC for alot of Dropped calls and overheating. Got new phone back and my dock wont charge the phone. Is there a setting I missed? Is it because of Froyo FRF91 is what I have? Does anyone else have this issue? I saw a guys car charger wont charge of Froyo....If i plug it in directly to the USB it will charge fine. Thanks in advance.
Wiggle it in the dock a bit, or hold it down.
The dock really sucks imho. I hate him. I can have it working fine, I get a txt that vibrates and it disconnects. Heck the phone fell off the dock one time cuz of vibrate.
Ive tried all of the above. And Im not crazy about the dock Either but I was about to get the car dock as well and .....Hell I paid 50 bucks for this thing!
I'm not a fan of the desktop dock either. I find I hit the power button to put it to sleep and as I take my hand away it shifts in the dock and wakes up again.
That said, the car dock is quite good. Holds the phone very solid yet is easy to get the phone in/out.
The built-in bluetooth speakerphone works fine ... sounds like a speaker phone but it works. Another feature is that it holds the phone in a way that leaves the camera pointing at the road ahead ... want to record that idiot driver ahead of you just fire up the camera.
The only issue I've had is that when using navigation in the hot sun while the battery is charging it has overheated a couple of times (i.e. rebooted without warning). Now I disconnect the charger unless it is needed and have not had the issue.
P.S. Neither dock work with cases ... probably fine with the skins though.
I leave my touch pad on the touchstone overnight and randomly the screen comes on and then times out and turns off, I use dock no op app to have no event when docking, any one else had this issue?? I'm using cm9 alpha 2.
IIRC it will wake when it hits 100%, then stop charging and discharge slightly, then charge back to 100% and wake. Rinse, repeat. That is how android phones generally charge. I have a case on mine so if it wakes during the night I don't know. I know CM7 did what you describe, because I didn't have my case then. My solution at the time was to not put it on the TouchStone unless it was lower than 70%. I also use the app dock nothingness to prevent the clock showing up when I put it in the charger.

I think its a problem how u put u'r touchpad on touchstone. If it is not stable it can happen. If the charging stops screen will on. It can happen if use a protecting cover. I don't have any problem with touchstone.
Thanks, I tried taking my HP folio case off and turning off wifi... so far it hasn't come on, although it is at 100% charge, I think it was turning on when emails were received.
I charge my phone via magnetic cable that attaches to the dock connector so that i dont wear out the seal on the micro usb door etc. But I've noticed that if i turn off the screen it comes back on within 5 minutes while charging. Does anyone know of a setting I can change or is this a bug?

I think you can change it in the Smart Connect app
I noticed something else.
I hooked up a MHL cable (Bought long ago for the HOX), to test some response times etc..
And I could not turn of the screen when it was connected (well it turns off, then immediatly turns on again).
Would be nice to know if anybody knows a way to turn it off to conserve battery.
Also I have never used any wireless methods, and am keen to know if one can stream something with the screen off.
This is however a question for a different thread, sorry OP!
I have not changed anything in smart connect, and my screen lights up when put in the dock (just like the Z did).
When I turn it off, it does stay off though.

Most probably it does not snap in fully. I had the same with my DK30 for the Xperia Z Ultra with one of the 3 DK30 docks. Just wiggle a little bit and then it might work continously.
Generally I fear the copper pins will wear out with the time or get slightly corroded so that there will be no full contact anymore. I had this problem with my LG-Smartwatch 5 years ago after 2 years (YES, they had a smartwatch-phone with sim-card and mSD ! already then ! )
Looks like i had to enable smart connect for the dock connection but change all actions to do nothing.

How you do change actions to do nothing?
I'm currently using my magnetic charger to charge, but slideshow on photo album always starts.
My smart connect has been disabled.
Has anyone figured out how to make the phone stay in dock mode when the wireless charging hits 100%? I am getting tired of my phone pulsating throughout the night as it turns off at 100% and turns back on at 98%. My clock app goes away when the charging turns off and lights up my room like daylight. I have tried using tasker and the magnetic field sensor, but that is not very reliable. I have tried other tasker profiles but can't seem to figure out a good mix of variables. I also tried using an NFC tag on the dock and the app Trigger to start the app, but that only works when I first put it on the charger. It doesn't have an Exit Task like Tasker does.
This is really annoying and a pretty crappy "feature". Anyone?

use niteclock free
works great for me make sure you get this one:
Night Clock by
Gubbel
Can I ask why you suggest that one? I have a couple alarm apps that I could probably just open myself, but I'd like to be able to put my phone on the charger and have it open automatically and stay open until I take it off the charger. Does Night Clock have settings for this kind of situation?

a few reasons:
1: first it works with wireless charging on my nigntstand
2: turns off hard buttons
3: dims to my liking per settings
4: moves as a screensvaer
5 most important stays on after charger is full
I suppose a round-about way of solving this problem is to just use a wired charger, and save the wireless one for your desk or something, so that you don't have to worry about it acting up in the middle of the night. There's no terrific advantage to having wireless charging, IMO, so just be practical and use the wire.

I would do that if they made a dock for the Turbo. Unfortunately, Motorola doesn't put out docks for their phones like they used to. Now you have to buy a generic one that doesn't fit properly. I ended up creating a Tasker task that opens my clock app and doesn't allow it to close, so I have to close the app manually every morning but that's just being picky. It works pretty well, so I'm happy now.

I'm having trouble getting tasker to see my dock. What settings you have the mag sensor set to. And are you able to get the clock to go into night mode?

I just set Tasker to launch my clock app (Dock Clock Plus) when it detects wireless charging. I tried to use the mag sensor, but I could never get consistent results. The Dock Clock Plus app has a setting to go to night mode automatically at certain times. So I have it set for night mode from 9pm to 8am. So if I dock my phone outside those times, it stays bright.
Hi
I've bought the standard samsung wireless charger and now noticed that there's always a blue or green led shining and I'd like to disable these as I use the charger in the bedroom.
Has anyone tried to disassemble the charger? How did it work out?
Cheers
Michael
Put a piece of electrical tape over it?
If you can open up the charger, I'm sure you can disable it. I feel your problem..
Lucky to have this at work which lights u only during charge:
http://www.dx.com/p/frunda-fct001-5...e-nokia-more-white-yellow-209238#.VUIa1SGqpHw
And the charger for LG G3 which have no lights at all at home.
putting something over it is probably what I have to do.
sadly I did not find a way to open it.. without too much of force at least and buying another one does not really make sense for me as I don't need 2 wireless chargers.
i find the Light extremely annoying i could not use the wireless charger at all during night time. please Samsung get rid of the light, there is an led in the phone which lights up already to know if the phone is charging.. do we need the bright blue green light in the wireless charger as well.. ridiculous
