Move app to SD card? - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use the Zinio reader app, which occupies about 9Gb of my main storage. There's no option in App settings to move the app to the external SD card, which is what I would like to do. Does anyone know of a workaround that would enable me to offload this app and its storage requirements to the SD card?

It's a magazine-reading app. Most of the space is occupied by downloaded content

This used to work when I needed it, but since I don't like gaming on my tablet any more I haven't used it in a while so I can't say if it still works:

Do you have 80mb left on your phone, or on your sdcard?

Its suppose to....You have apps2sd...How is that full? The max possible is 83MB..G1 has very small internal storage...That is normal...Mines is @ 79~ because of cache from apps.
yeah but when i go to download ringtones it still says my memory is full. i tried clearing the cache
if you don't mind my asking, where are you downloading this ringtone from?
mxyer.com.
How much space do you have left on the fat32 partition (your SD card?)
Also- not sure if it's possible, but try downloading the ringtone to your PC then throw it on the SD.
that's what I was thinking. Or better yet, download the whole song if you can and make it into a ringtone using Ringdroid

I like Tazz's idea.
Ringdroid is actually a very nice tool to use for ringtones.
use imusic app to download a song then use ringdroid to make the ring tone. I am not sure if imusic is illegal in the usa because it is not illegal to download music in canada.

for simple launchers, you can take a look at zeam. very basic settings.
for more customizations, try adw(free), adw ex(paid), or launcherpro. lots of features. example, you can adjust number of rows and columns your homescreen has and you can enable scrollable widgets on your homescreens. these are just some of the options.

Did you moved all those apps to sdcard? If so, try install them without moving to sdcard. Restart your tab again and see if the icons stays on homescreen.

Yes i did move them to sd card but to get them back to the phone will rise a big problem of storage and it will be easier to deal with the disappearance .what do thing about that ?
Some apps are not coded to handle 2.2 (move2sd) thats what i think. Don't quote me for that. As it did happened to me once with an app disappearing. After moving it back, everything went well.
Don't think apps take alot of space even if you have like 60+ apps.
If you use Multicon they stay and you get more icons.

The best you can do, with so many apps, is moving them to sd, and use "folder organizer" to manage them in folders.
Then you can put a widget on your home with all your categories and folders.
I do this way, and I never use the app drawer
Sure it will take a bit to categorize all those apps, but it's worth it, folder organizer is the best android app.
(It also have a tasker plugin, so you can, for example, use a long press of the search button to open the main folder from any application)

I was also having this problem just not on my home screen...After reading/looking found this thread and viola! no more missing shortcuts!
Not sure why having them on sd card would be a cause for them to disappear but that seems to be a bug [samsung?].
fixed the problem on my vibrant

[SOLVED] Get Rid of "Internal storage is 75% full."

I have searched around but not found a solution to when this situation is actaully valid and the system is reporting corectly.
I constantly get this notification. I have about 1.5gb free which is more than enough for me to not have to worry for a while.
How do I get rid of this notification and stop it comming up without deleting videos/games(shouldnt have to be deleting stuff when i still have 1.5gb free), or even can I change it to come up when i reach 90 or 95% full?
Thanks
There is a possibility to delete this but I've heard this break another thing which is pretty important to our phones.

Because I know how much data I have on it. I have gone through it with a fine tooth comb over the last week or soo, culling any residual data left by old apps, clearing cahced files from the the likes of dropbox etc. And if it does free up an extra gig or so to get rid of the notification it this will only be temporary until I take a few more photos/videos and it will re-appear. I dont see the point in the space if I can not use the last 2.5gb of space unless I put up with an irritating notification.
SOLVED IT
Settings -> Apps -> All -> Memory
Unticked show notifications. BOOM gone.
Shame same solution doesnt work for the mobile data notification.

Yeh all the solution I could find on here were people complaining about it who only had small amounts of data in their internal memory. My issue was the fact I had actually exceeded the 75% as stated in my original post. I dont see why this is not configurable. I see the point to it just not for me, 25% of our storage space is still quite a bit of storage and not really something to worry about unless you are recording huge videos. 95% which is a little over 500mb left would seem more logical to me personally.
keep ur finger on that notification till u enter the details
uncheck the show notifications
no need to delete any thing
Hey,
If you use "Elixir 2" and go to Apps, choose "system apps", and find the app "phone" or "dealer" (I think) ... when you go to its "details" you can shut that mobile data notif off. just find the right one to disable.

Xperia V on JB 4.1.2, stock fw 9.1.A.1.140.
I got it. I only just realized that "Memory" is an app... Duh!

External SD card access.

Is there any way at all to allow user apps write access on external storage, without root? This is one of the most infuriating features ever added in Android and I just can't understand what they were thinking by essentially making external storage unusable by anything other than pre installed apps.
Right now this is the only thing that might force me to root if there's no other way. It's not something I've ever looked into as every device I've had since gingerbread has been rooted, so it hasn't affected me until now even though it's been a thing for years. Even if I could just get my file manager working with write access I'd be happy, I hate Samsung's my files haha.
Usually after an app ask for sd access and it is granted there are no further prompts

Yeah I'm not getting permission requests, other than the storage request which only includes internal.
FX file explorer tells me this device does not support the android storage access framework.
Strange, FX explorer reads and writes fine the media card as it names it. Try different sd card?

What do you mean by "as it names it" ? I don't think it's the card, all system apps seem to write to it fine.
I'll attach a screen of the error.
Are you using FX on the note 9, stock? And can you make new files and folders anywhere on the external SD from within FX and not just in it's own folder in sdcard/android/data/nextapp.fx?

Thank youuuuu ?
Funny thing is I saw a video on YouTube saying just that, but my natural distrust of that kind of thing on YouTube got the better of me haha, I saw no "documents" In my disabled list so gave up.
But when you mentioned it too I went back to look, there was nothing called documents, but I went through my entire list of about 90 disabled apps and found one called "files" enabled it, and now it works.
Thanks again mate

Ok, so a few days ago, I removed my SD card and transferred all media files to a lap top and then moved them onto a new 256GB SD card of the same brand...now, a few pics do not show and now, when I take a pic, some of them do not show up in the Gallery, i just get a big Exclamation Point....anybody know what the issue is and how to fix it? Thanks

Didn't work. I'm starting to think that I got a defective SD card. Unless something in my settings got changed, but I didn't change anything between swaps.
Figured out the problem....it was fake...I contacted the seller and told him I was having issues and that my card might be defective, and within an hour, had a full refund. I feel pretty damn naive...i'm usually pretty cautious when buying things on eBay....i should have known better...price was too good.
