Does anyone else have a Nillkin Frosted case for their G4? - G4 Accessories

I bought one when I bought my phone, and I have a question:
Can I damage my phone in any way when taking the case off?
(I know it's a dumb question, but it's been bothering me a lot, because the case is sturdy af, it's really hard to take off)

Of course you can destroy your phone, or drop it in the progress. It is not indestructible.
Do not bend the phone, especially not in the middle.
You can apply a bit more force on the smaller edges, but honestly if the case is that hard to apply/remove replace it asap.

Mine was difficult to remove as well. It broke after some time plus I did not like the bottom of the case, the USB port was oddly cut out and the bottom edge was kinda sharp

I won't drop it, I'm not concerned about that, I'm worried that I'll scratch my phone or that the metal frame will break.
Why would I bend it?
The case is incredibly easy to put on, the phone pops right in, but taking it off is the problem.

No, it did not. You have to be really careful with it.

You can use the case without the back cover. You can remove it much easier. I personally don't do that cause it feels silly to me.
I remove the upper right corner and run my fingernail between the case and the back cover to remove it. I don't feel that the back cover will brake, I do this to decrease the chances of the case braking at tge corners.

I had that case but imo it was too slippery. I also had to cut charging pirt hole bigger so that stock charger cable could fit. Case went broken after couple of months of usage. Now i'm using diztronic cover which is MUCH better atleast for me.

Yeah I have it, I have used Nillkin frosted cases for almost every smartphone I have owned and never had issues. What I have noticed with the G4 is that its sides seem to be prone to scratches, I use the case and still have (very) light scratches mainly at the top and bottom. As with any phone/case avoid removing it often and when required just do so carefully.
BTW do you have the leather back or plastic version of the G4? That could be your issue, the plastic one fits perfectly fine with the Nillkin case however the leather back fits in fine but is a pain in the ass to remove-as I found out the hard way. :silly:

Every case can damage your phone in some way expect Tech21 check them out & you'll see why

I bought one. Bad quality and I have "fire" in my Hand. May be more phthalates. Cover brake when I used cover. I must get to basket.

Hi,
Bought one : Couldn't get the USB working properly so I had to take it off each time I wanted to charge or plug it to computer !!!
Phone won't get hurt but it was weird as its back was always sticking on the case... Had to be very careful when taking the back from the case ...

I have the white version. It looks great on the phone and it feels equally great.
But.. it is such a pain to take it off. Also the cut out by the charging port is too close so some charging cable will not connect with the port. For these 2 reasons I am not using it anymore.

Review: U-BOP BoldFLEX Silicone Skin for HD2

Hi all,
My new silicon case just arrived.
If you're wondering, or looking, it's this one.
I thought I give a small review
Ordered the case via U-Bop's Amazone shop on dec 10, arrived today dec. 17. Not bad for normal airmail shipping I guess. total price 11,23£ shipping included.
Now, about the case:
Grip feels good, not slippery but the nice feel of rubber but a little smoother.
All cut-outs seem ok, there's enough room in the front for all sensors located around the speaker on the top. I was a bit scared that the bottom "rounding" would interfere when you try to use the hardware keys but that is ok*.
On the left side, where your volume buttons are, the case has a special bevelled surface so you still feel where the buttons are. Very nice touch I think making it easy to find the volume buttons without have to make a cutout for the buttons which would result in another dust-gathering trap
The down side of things then: although the case is advertised as being "skin-tight" and "form-fitting" the truth is: it sits to loosely to my liking. I would think that if you make something that is supposed to be form-fitting and skin-tight etc then it would need at least some effort to slip my HD2 in there and it would be as tight as .... well think "men in tights" (was the first thing that slipped in my mind) ...
Honestly. I think if I drop my phone it would be well protected for the first bounce.... but I'm scared it might just be thrown out of the case on impact!
It just feels a bit to 'light' and not much of the tight etc is noticeable.
Another small think I immediately notices was that the moment I had slipped it on and carried it around for a few hours in my pocket, dust appeared out of nowhere, clinging on to my screen where I had never seen it before?!? Strange as I always carry it in my pocket and I can't really remember ever having dust there that clearly... I'll see if that clears after a few days use.
I took some pictures and a small movie to give a general idea of what I mean.
So overal:
the PRO's
- good feel
- anti slip
- drop protection (100% for the first impact... guess % goes down with each consecutive bounce )
- all sensors, camera, flash leds, 3.5mm jack and micro USB are reachable
- volume keys can still be located through touch feeling
- cheap
the CONS
- not at all skin tight as advertised
- dust-magnet?
hope you liked the review. I'm interested en opinions of people using other types of silicon cases that do feel skin tight and secure so let me know what you have!
link to youtube for the movie : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ3fMmOg-zs
Thanks for the review. It looks cool for the most part other than it's not skin tight...
To be honest, I'm getting more and more dissatisfied by the day
Taking the phone out of the pocket is a sure way to get at least 1 corner of the silicone case dislodged from the phone. Sometimes even the two top corners come off so you end up fetching the phone without case
And I can also confirm that the case is a dust magnet in the meantime... so no good there either...
I think I will be filing for the 14 day money back guarantee on this one and trying another one...

Yep I'd have to agree 100% with your review, bought one of these cases on ebay and initially thought it was good, but as you say it's not skin tight it's more "underpants tight"...so the case does come off sometimes when you take the phone out of your pocket as it sticks to your pocket...and if you are looking for a static dust magnet this wouldn't go amiss...
Just an idea guys, but does silicone shrink when exposed to heat? If so, you could try bathing it in hot water to shrink it a little... ?
Grtz
Lukas
shrink? you sure about that? Haven't tried that.
case could do with a wash though since it has been sucking in dust like a black whole for the past couple of days so... let me give that a try
If we're sure of one thing then it's that it wont break the case

Case-Mate Barely There Review

Hi, first of all this is my first review at all
I´ve to say that this is in my opinion the best way to protect the camera and so save the smart design of the beloved hd2.
but ... there are some bad points I wanne mention,
if you want a case that you put on once and never/only a few times pull off, this is your way,
but if you do it like me peal off every day to put in a cradle you have to face some scratches on the original rubber on the hd2.
For me it was clear that i´ve to protect the camera and still have a sleak design.
The Case itselve comes in a plastic box with some micro fiber cleaning cloth and a screen protector.
There are no edges or bur that could hurt the hd2.
The whole case is covered with a rubber finish just like the hd, but i dont think so resistant (no scratches jet).
The screen protection is not so good, after two days there are a lot of scratches on it, so maybe I´ll peal it off.
It fits the screen nicely and there are no issues with the aproximate sensor
Here are some pictures right from germany to you
How did you manage to scratch the screen protector? What are you writing with?
yea ... thats the big question.. I´m writing with my fingers and this protector get scratched, many many little ones, but there are even big scratches on it, think my pocket does this.... by the way only the phone in pocket... I´ll take a picture for u
That scratch on the corner of your HD2, is it from pulling the case off and on multiple times? It looks pretty ugly that scratch, but case looks very nice.
I think many of us have a need sometimes to pull it down becose sometimes we must reset it by pulling the battery out :\

yes its from pulling on and off, but i think its not soooo ugly cause you dont see it if case is on
for me its more important to cover the camera

I've got the Silver mirror-finish version of this case - it's very nice
Might add however that it's ridiculously snug - just got it today and now having trouble trying to get the case off
Is there a reason as to why Case-Mate states it will only fit the International version? Not the soon to be released Tmobile version?

I believe the intl version is a tad taller if I'm not mistaken...
I have the case as well (silver version). The case looks really sleek on the HD2. Nice and slim just what I want.
However I find it extremely difficult to take it off. It's just too tight. Any tips to take it off?

Yup, its a bummer I had ordered my case before getting the phone. O well, same exact thing happened when tmobile released the touch pro2. I order my protection before the phone because I dont want anything to happen to it, but then my protection ends up not fitting : (

T-Mobile HD2 is 1.5mm taller. Seems to be because of the logo on top. For gel/silicone cases it might not be a problem, but for hard cases and fitted cases - it is. It does not fit.
Barely any fingernails left!
I purchased the black rubber version and it is very unobtrusive and tight fitting - but that's my problem - it's too tight. I feel I am in more danger of damaging my phone trying to remove this case than actually dropping it! I am considering cutting slits in the four corners of this case to make removal easier. It's a pity because I really like the look of the case itself.

HTC hard case

I bought a blue hard case made by HTC at radioshack. It is nice but it makes the keyboard hard as heck to slide out.

Still, decent case for now.

I got it too, seems like the keyboard is equally hard to slide out either way(with or without the case) for me, just a thought. I like the case though.
I've got it too. I like it a lot. I've never been a fan of cases on sliders, but this works pretty good.

And the rubberish back on it I would think make it less likely to slip out of your hand.

The back is like my favorite part of it. Makes setting it down very nice and secure.
Does it protect the camera lens well? My only complaints so far are the volume rocker and when I put the phone down face up, the camera lens rubs up against whatever surface I put it on.

Yeah the camera is back from the case so when you set it down its completely off the ground.

That's the case my g/f got for her Shift. I actually don't like how the rubber provides a little bit of resistance when you pull it out of your pocket. Do you notice that? Or am I making that up?
I'm holding out for an offering from either Otterbox (Commuter or Impact) or Seidio (Active or Surface).
I don't notice it, but when I pull out my phone my hand covers the back.
Sent from my bathroom, with toilet paper.
Funny you post this actually. Ordered this same exact thing from un-heard of website. It was on back order though, and sadly sprint didnt have this listed when the phone first came out. Wish I ordered it from them. Would have been tons faster.
got my wife this case and hers slides out fine.
got two of these (wife and I) I'm really liking these cases, nice and snug, and I like that it holds the kb firm without stressing it (don't really use it anyway) most of the slider cases have those flimsy clips that hold it on, but these are nice and wide so they don't look like they'll crack any time soon. And yes the rubbery part on the back is very nice, gives it a solid grippy feel.

no problems typing. very slick. case double thickness of phone. front is thin film. sharp knock on phone by edge of the table will crack the screen. but brilliant piece of engineering. love it.
Hello, I just saw this. I've posted this in one of the other posts. This is my take on the Atomic 2.0::
Just received the Ghostek Atomic 2.0 Case. Even though Screen is not glass does not feel that back. No stickiness like plastic films. But for now just had it on for some hours so can't really say for long run yet.
It is a bit wider like a little over 1/4" more than the UAG case. Which adds to black borders on the front as seen on the pictures. So if you already had trouble using it with one hand, this would cause a bit more trouble.
The thickness is about the same as the UAG case when both are facing screen down.
This case advertises Waterproof but has 2 openings for the speaker grill on top and the home button on bottom. I would expect water could get in through those openings. Screen is dot matrix.
The look of the case for me is nice and does not make it look ugly in my perspective. As because the screen guard as they call it make it look like the screen is showing more than some cases that adds front black plastic borders on top and bottom.
The one thing is you might want to use wireless charging more due to having to open up ports more often if using a usb charger.
Here are some pictures I took. Sorry about quality. The best Camera I have is the GS7 edge. lol.
http://imgur.com/a/osNxm
Right now I'm using it with the TANAAB Screen protector.
I'll post more about it. But first reactions seems to be a good case but would depend on how you would see it and if the 1/4" width bigger than a UAG case would be a drawback or not.
It Seems that Ghostek send several out to Mobilefun or Uviyo in batches but haven't shipped through their main site.
Update:
Update about the openings mentioned above. The waterproof works and does not get inside case if there's nothing that raises the area where the openings are. I had the TANAAB TGSP that doesn't go full length of the phone let water in but when removed and tested no water went in. So waiting to test it with a similar TGSP like GPEL2 that fully extends the the phone and see how that works.
When With TANAAB. Sensitivity didn't change and could provide good protection if needed as the outside screen is just a thin plastic film.
Just wanted to point this out.

Update:
As mentioned sensitivity wasn't a big problem or no problem I've seen.
But because its' a plastic screen I and because of my old TGSP didn't full extend to the end of the phone. I decided to get the Tzunami ProGlass from walmart. Installed it and put the case back on. Which should add extra protection on screen.
Even though responsiveness was good this seem to bump it up a bit more as it sticks more to the plastic and doesn't leave much. Plus you should not have a problem with it breaking as it just sits inside case.
Likely going to put the GPEL2 When I receive it but likely this might be my set up for my phone. The case looks nice and hope this is an improvement from their other cases.
UPDATE: Sensitivity issues as well from others with the ProGlass. So waiting on GPEL2.
2nd update of the case
I forgot to mention, this could be a pro or con depending if you use speaker a lot or not. I do listen at times but most of the times I use bluetooth headphones or speakers so no problem plus sound seems to be extended a bit more.
But the sound from the speaker is somewhat transferred and the back is used to transfer the sound out which would be why they use the type of material for the back. As if you see pictures of it the bottom you won't see a speaker cut out instead it's for the cord. So if you really depend on the sound from the speaker, the sound would be coming from the back of the phone instead of the side. You won't have to worry about covering it with your finger.
It does help when talking to someone on speaker phone, which is an advantage if you sometimes use the speaker phone when on calls at times. Seems to amplify it a bit more but comes from back for music. But haven't seen but haven't tested much on what music could get muffled out due to the way it is done.
Hope this answers or helps some that might wonder about it.

Seems I forgot I still had the AT TGSP and for now no sensitivity issues at all and not like the Proglass has occurred. Will update if it does but for now this would be my combination of screen protector and case.

No it is not really necessary but as others mentioned this is plastic. But I feel that phone is safer if screen is protected by Tempered glass than films or plastic films. As there's no big lip on front and only thing protecting front the the plastic film I just rather be protected than not be.

Hello, Want to update on the case as you read my other post mentioning some openings on the home and earpiece, seems that was a faulty case as was missing films for the waterproofing that it supposed to protect.
Seems my first one was missing the films that go in the earpiece and home button so wasn't fully waterproof but had no sensitivity issues, the next one had high sensitivity issues on the top area where the first one didn't. Ghostek has been nice and quick in sending replacements and honoring their warranties. Right now I have the first one installed until I received the third case. As there is no sensitivity issues.
I did drop the phone from about 4.2 ft high with no damage. The phone fell front side. I do have a tempered Glass installed and no difference with or without on sensitivity. There does not seem to be any damage on the phone or case. The drop was accidental and kind of scary as well when it fell face front. Even though it was on a case. But glad I had the setup I had.
The only drawback I see is that with fingerprints I don't have a problem with the one with no films(1st case) but with the films on(2nd Case) the best way for it to read is putting your finger side ways. Which works all the time when you put your finger sideways but when upwards is a small chance that it would detect or not.
Just received mine today. Spotty fingerprint scanner, the screen has the little dots all over when you shine lights on it or are out in the sun, definitely a loss in touch sensitivity due to the front film not touching the screen unless you press down on it.
Hello friends, my question is, is that possible to call someone while using this case?

I've had no problems when I have good reception. The only times I have problems is when I have 1x when outside in small areas plus work truck kind of blocks signals.
But regular use with not problems on signal, I haven't had any complaints.

Back glass unsticking

I have had this phone for about 1.5 years now and it held up,it was running very well but it always had an overheating problem, you have probably seen me all over the forums asking how can I lower the temperature of the phone lol.
Well it has become less apparent with the latest build of Lineage, only when I am using Snapchat but that doesn't matter.
But now what started happening is my back glass is unsticking, the bottom part to be exact,I believe this is because the device heated up so much it weakened the adhesive.
So I am asking now with what material I can re-stick the back glass properly since I don't want it to hang like that for no reason.
Use fevibond
You can use fevibond(Synthetic Rubber Base Glue). I used it to stick front screen peeling off from top left corner.

Could I use something like superglue or something similar to that?

No, that would make it tough/impossible to separate it for repairs.

Nope I wouldn't do that, as super glue is not flexible. I have glued both screen and back glass with B7000 adhesive (most repair shops use it specifically for displays) and it hasn't moved since. That was done some 4 months ago. If you put enough glue on the frame (be careful not to leave empty spots, cover the complete frame with glue), of course avoid dripping of the sides into the frame, I am sure that it won't peel off again, especially the back glass.
I am waiting for new screen to arrive, so I'll have to re-do everything again, of course with B7000.

Never use superglue, it will not last long and will ruin your phone, as superglue's main ingredient disintegrates plastic...
I've also used red 3m tape, does not hold!
Bought B7000 glue, will use it once my new battery arrives, so using useless 3m red tape in the mean time...
-Update-
B7000 Glue works!!!
I heavily flash, test etc. and no matter how hot the phone gets, it's sealed and does not reopen.
I cleaned the surfaces, I applied the glue, and did not care about making a mess (the glue is easily removable for future repairs) and did not care about it oozing out either, just made sure that it covered that border.
I did not use any heat, and it was still cold here.
I then used clothes pegs, 3 on each edge (I was worried about too much pressure, but it was not an issue)
I did not turn my phone on at all, and waited for 48 hours, before removing the pegs then turning it on.
Please note: the z3c is bendable, especially in jeans pockets, I use an anodized bumper to keep it straight. And using tempered glass on both sides is recommended.
***I did however buy a new battery, as my previous battery seemed fat, and I also removed the nfc sticker, but not sure if that is necessary.
