Re-partition N9208 - PIT Files needed and all the help ! - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi devs, enthusiasts and avid readers.
Lately my note 5 9208 is bugging me a lot. It restarts or shut downs when its under slight load and i tweek settings.
I have factory reset.. Wiped all partitions.. stock or custom roms the issue remains. The only option left is to clear all partitions and re-partition because i believe one of the partition is disturbed which is causing it to restart...
I need help regarding how to do re-partition... Instructions pit files and all the help are welcomed...

NO signal after flashing with odin and sim inserted ! help!

So i reflashed my rom with odin but i forgot to take out the sim now the phone says no signal even when the sim is not inserted. I have tried to flash again with no luck.
Originally i was on jm5 i re flashed to JM2 (this time with repartition) but no i have no signal. Have i broken the phone?
anyone pls!
I had the same problem.
The youtube videos all tell you to only input the PDA file. After flashing only this, everytime I started up I wouldn't get a signal. I thought I had an expensive paperweight on my 1st day.
However, try flash ALL the files at the same time. CODE_XXX goes into PDA, then MODEM_XXX into PHONE, and CSC_XXX into CSC. Make sure they are all ticked, select re-partition, and set it going.
Be warned that some of the later firmwares are Russian, but once your SIM is in and recognised it should automatically change the language to English.
This fixed my problems, haven't been scared to flash since
If this doesn't work, you can always just flash the old PDA of JM5 back. That originally fixed the problem for me, before I had the guts to try it all over again.
It worked1 i love you.
I'm sorry to reactivate this topic, but i have the same issue as well. I tried flashing a stock rom on my SGS but after it was completed, i couldn't get ony my network (Orange). I tried also flashing Darky's 8.0 and still nothing. Even with Hy2teria's suggestion. I don't know what else to do.
Please help me!
Regards
LE: After removing BOTH the SIM card and the SD card, the phone connected to my network succesfully. FYI

thanks friend i flashed much rom stock and hard reset not solved
make sure via secret code *#06# if there´s an imei still showing, if so make sure it is the correct/original one. If the imei is not showing or it is a different one, you got a real big problem. I know of no solution in this case other than sending it in.
Hopefully you backed up the efs folder prior to flashing. If so, find nv_data.bin and drop it into the /efs folder found in the root directory of the internal sd card.
If you hadn´t backed up the efs do this: delete (!) the nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 in the /efs folder. In the same folder there should be 2 files with the same name and a .bak at the end. These are back ups, too, which will be restored after a reboot. If you are lucky the .bak-files aren´t corrupt yet and will restore the correct nv_data.bin.
Hope it works for you

[Q] PIT Repartition VS EXT4 - confused

I recently bricked my phone by installing 2.2.1 over 2.2.1 + Voodoo lagfix, ie, I didn't uninstall voodoo before flashing 2.2.1 stock again. I got around it by using a JM8 pda + JM4 modem and a 512 pit repartition, then going up to 2.2.1 again using just a PDA with no pit/repartition.
I was just wondering, since I didn't technically remove the EXT4 file system by uninstalling voodoo, how did the system get converted back to RFS (or did it...)? Basically I'm asking about the relationship between the PIT repartition and the file format the phone uses (does repartitioning ALSO reformat the internal SD)?
My quadrant score is around 1100-1200 running stock 2.2.1 JPY, so I know the system is back to RFS (as opposed to the 1800 with EXT4), but will there be any little 'gremlins' so to speak in the future? Phone is working fine as it now.
Any replies would be appreciated!
Thanks
When you use PIT file, it removes any modified file systems, its essential to remove lag-fix before flashing, but sometimes we forget... luckily its not the end of the world.. a few flashes with different firmwares and all is back to normal...
its just a pain in the arse having to do all that so that's why we remove lag-fix first...
but it doesn't affect the internal sd card.. so you shouldn't get any further issues..
Thanks
I was reading up on some other thread, and that's exactly what I thought the PIT file does. I was just confused because normally when you re-partition something it doesn't automatically format in PC's, but apparently Samsung is nice enough for the PIT's to partition + format for you.
I tried reflashing 512 pit repartition + 2.2.1 at first and that didn't work... Now I'm wondering why rolling back to JM8 with repartition THEN to 2.2.1 without repart worked if they use the same PIT In my mind repartition would simply wipe the file system and set up the partition for the OS/kernels and 2.2.1 would slot in nicely... Apparently not.
Funnily enough bricking my phone doesn't scare me, but not understanding what the hell is going make me wants to cry though. I actually locked my usb cable inside the product box until the next XEU update comes out, haha. Phone reception is just as crap with the JPY version vs the old VAUJP4 (vodafone australia froyo) but loading apps, contacts, etc seems much faster.
On a tangent I went to get my contacts off an old inactive 3 SIM, and noticed I was getting like 4-5 bars (around -80dbm signal) with HSDPA as the mobile network type (emergency calls only). With the default vodafone sim the network type switches to UMTS with something like -105dbm with about 0-2 bars normally. I don't use data on my plan (it's like 100mb... don't wanna incur ridiculous charges if I go over), and the voice quality doesn't seem so bad... but is there any way to get better reception, ie switch networks. Kind of clueless about this stuff as my old k800i had 5 bars all the time!
i am with vodafone UK and i have terrible 3G signal.. i only use GSM now and i always have full signal, and data connection (2G) isnt super fast but it works everywhere. Perhaps you could try it
and as for rolling back to JM8 firmware, JM8 includes 'dbdata' which is what gets corrupted alot when flashing all the time, causing errors and boot loops, thats why so many people recommend it.
but you can go direct to the latest 2.2.1 from JM8, so its not too bad i have bricked my phone many times in the past fortnight, but thanks to XDA im still up and running
I did a little digging again and turned up the same conclusions about the dbdata file. Apparently all the froyo versions don't have this dbdata.rfs file (that JM8 does), so when I repartition straight to a 2.2.1 rom everything was deleted from the repartitioning and is copied without the dbdata file, bricking itself.
But if I go from JM8 > JPY without repartition, I'm assuming all the OS/kernel/modem crap from the JM8 is overwritten with the new JPY files, but the other required systems are left alone. I guess Samsung only updates/creates the files they need too... I'm assuming all the 'sensitive' folders in root like /efs (where your IMEI is) are left alone by the reformat/lagfix? I still have my original one so it seems as if this is the case. I've read about some 'leaked' ROM's that actually change your IMEI number, and I guess they just over-write this folder when they are flashed, instead of leaving it alone.
Makes me wonder how they actually get stock 2.2 firmware on the phones in the first place. They probably use some JTAG system to do it en-masse, but it doesn't change the fact that they have to add random files in order to get it to work or actually have to do it 2xfold. Why couldn't they just include all required files in official roms, regardless of if it isn't updated, rather than making it like assembling a file system jigsaw puzzle.
If we ever get gingerbread, I bet there's probably some file/directory that 2.2 introduced/took out/changed and I'll have to flash my phone 3 times from 2.1 > 2.2 > 2.3!
The feeling of understanding the how/why's of unbricking is actually the same level of relief I felt when unbricking my phone... I'm happy with performance for now, the stress of this is too much to continue messing about with ODIN and ROM's. I think I'll stick with Kies and stock XEU firmware for now (doubt I'd bother with any local australian roms, all are branded bloatware, and XEU gets updates faster!). Kind of freaked out about the IMEI changing thing after some forum searches now (given that I don't wanna mess with odin to root my phone and back up my IMEI file, I might break it again, haha!) so I think I'm done with flashing. However...I have this urge to fiddle with my phone even though it works perfectly fine (and stresses me out unbelievably waiting to see if it works) and I'll probably do something worse this time... I want a totally unbrickable droid to fiddle with, haha. The open-source thing with android is nice and all, but with PC's you usually don't take a trip to the service center and incur a $10-300 bill when you **** up a piece of code. Most motherboards have a literal ROM that stores back-up BIOS settings so you can NEVER brick your computer short of ripping the backup BIOS out of it's socket...
I totally need to destroy my USB cable...
IMEI is fixable if it gets corrupted, im sure i seen a thread about in on here, along with a million others lol
I would recommend Odin over Kies anyday Kies is responsible for A LOT of bricked phones, i mean look how many thread there are on ' Help Kies bricked my phone' you dont see as many for 'odin bricked my phone' (unless the user doesnt know how to use')
What ever problems you run into, i guarantee someone has already run in to it, and i bet there is a solution too,,, If your looking for an 'Unbrickable' Droid... its sitting in your pocket !!!
its upto you to give up the whole Hacking + Modifying thing, but me personally,,, Never ever,,, dont give up on your phone.. all it takes is a 10 minute read up and your questions will be answered.

[q] stuck at xxjp1

So I originally got stuck at a problem that contained these errors:
E: can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
E:Can't/b mount /devlock/stl10
Of course I was able to get to a specific rom through help in the forum, specifically:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788850
I ended up following the advice on post #7 on that thread and installed the XXJP1 ROM. The problem I am encountering now is that my i9000 3G modem isn't working. I don't understand how to flash another rom on top of this rom.
Am I supposed to use Odin 1.3 with 512 pit and rom? repartition checked? unchecked?
Or does anyone know how to install the modem for the XXJP1 rom?
PLEASE help!
People say "flash with JPC" or "JPH" .. but I can't find the roms for those, nor the step by step instructions on how to go about that?
Do I need to CWM? and if so, how do I install that?
I've been working on this for the past 14 hours (believe me, I have tried a few mods before that were working then aren't working anymore so I "bricked" my phone like 3 times already.)
I just want my phone back to stock and have the data working....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913
Or use rom kitchin.

I followed the first link as my first attempt yesterday, but it kept telling me either the first error I got or second error.
The kitchen instructions don't seem to be too clear on how what kernal to download. It says to download the odin kernal on the link it passes you to, but when you get there there isn't any link that labeled odin kernal. I don't want to download the wrong files and end up "bricking" my phone once more.
I appreciate your help JJE. Im glad people will respond.
Continuing, if there's anyone that can help me step by step. I have gone through MANY of the forums/threads, and it always seems like people forget specific information. Like they'll say "download the odin pit and 'so and so' rom and install the pit and pda" but the file comes with a csc and a modem file. I tried with repartition, and without. with only pit and pda, and with all the files...it always leads me back to getting the original error messages I was getting.
I feel like i'm forever stuck at XXJP1 with no modem...this sucks
I would also like to say to those reading this and who are willing to help me, that I am sorry I am such a noob at this. But you gotta give me credit for working on this 14 hours straight. Dedicated to the Galaxy i9000. Best phone I've ever had until I messed it up
if you don't have 3g , put APN settings in Setting , wireless and ... / mobile netoworks / apn , and I hope you have an European Modem installed.

JJE: Thank you for the link, but the generator gave me a zip. Doesn't odin only take tar files to flash the roms? is there supposed to be another program I am supposed to use?
JJE: I tried transfering the file into the internal SD and then going into recovery to "update from zip" but it gave me the error message that said E: can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
i think i really am stuck at XXJP1
Thank you very much for the link to kitchen rom though. I was so hopeful with such customizations...
no choice but to send it back to samsung

P1010 WIFI US Help Requested

Hi All, hoping someone can help me out. I have rendered my P1010 US version un-usable due to bad flashing. I have tried to odin the files from the firmware pages and it results in my tab force closing repeatedly on the boot screen where you choose the language at first boot. Anyone have the software for the P1010 US WIFI ?
I have rooted Nexus One, Captivate, Inspire and installed new roms before with no problems but this is stumping me.
Thanks in advance
When you apply the firmware through Odin, are you checking repartition and selecting the PIT file? This will ensure that the partitions get wiped...if so it should boot up normally after that.
Yes, I select the pit file and load that, then pda file and the csc file together. I tried all 3 in the same operation also and same result. I think my problem is to restore I do not have the US file from samsung. All that is available from samfirmwares etc. are the europe files. The force close cycle then appears after rebooting every time at the language selection.
Also n numerus descriptions ofthe update process "After phone reboot Do full reset by this Code *2767*3855#".
how can this be done on wifi tab?

[Q] Galaxy S (GT-I9000) Internal Memory Problem

Hello guys, good day,
I'm from Philiphines and had a problem with my phone. The problem is that i entered so many unlock pattern error and what i did is flashing it using Odin v3 1.85 with the firmware version 2.3.6. After flashing the firmware the internal memory of my phone became 5.78GB. As far as my memory is concern, the character that i saw was 14.xx GB (xx means something that i don't remember the exact numbers). My question is, what should i do to make it 14.xxGB again? I got this phone from my aunt so i'm not really familiar yet with the phone. I tried already flashing it with XTC version file witch i believe a firmware that can be use in the Philippines. And also when i use facebook app or viber, it runs so slow. How to make it run or process faster?
Really need some help here.
Have you tried clearing cache and factory reset? The reset will erase all personal data as well so back that up first. Once reset you should be back to original.
