Reduce 3G to LTE switch delay? - Sprint HTC One (M8)

I've looked everywhere and tried too many solutions so I'm hoping someone has an answer here!
As most may know, phones will switch to 3G when LTE has little to no signal strength, but here's my problem with that:
My house has amazing LTE signal, yet several dead spots where I randomly lose LTE entirely.
These spots hit me, push me to 3G, then my phone has an extremely long delay before switching back to LTE, while my mobile Hotspot slows tremendously, lagging games to hell. It's torture!
The only method I've found is switching to LTE only, but then I receive no calls or texts, thus a raging girlfriend appears.
Hopefully someone knows of a way to remove the service switch delay?
Save me from the lag!

X1 Band does not switch

i'm having a problem with the band not switch when its low on signal. for example i will get the H and when it drops down to 1 or no bars it doesn't switch to E. also some times when the reception is around 2 or 1 and its on H, i would drop calls or can't call out at all. for some reason i've noticed that the reception issue happenes a lot and i would have to change the band to GSM and 850, 1900, then it would stay on E.
anyone has this problem or know a fix?

I was about to suggest you flash a different radio, but then I noticed that you're on AT&T. It's just your network being crap.
I believe the network sets the rules on handing your cellphone signal over to another tower. Only thing you can do is tell your phone to force EDGE or HSPA.
yea when ever i have no signal i have to force it and the best i can get is edge. but this wasn't an issue before? could it be a hardware issue?
Depends on carrier too. I have such issues sometimes.
But X1 also tries to keep 3G/HSDPA as much as possible...
YEAH I BEEN GETTING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH MY XPERIA, I HATE IT BECAUSE IT IS LIKE IM BEING LIMITED OFF GOOD RECEPTION SIGNAL. SOMETIMES I CANT MAKE CALLS AT ALL. cOULD AT&T BE DOING THIS TO ALL CELLPHONES LIKE MY X1, SINCE THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME 30 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR UNLIMITED INTERNET,SO I COULD GET 3G SPEED, SOMETHING I DIDNT HAVE BEFORE, BUT I STAYED WITH MY REGULAR INTERNET SPEED, AND NOW I EVEN GET FASTER INTERNET SPEED THAN MY BROTHERS AT&T HTC fUZE 3G PHONE.
Well just a FYI, but AT&Ts network isn't the great in San Franciso anyway.

Are all nexus droping connection when changing from GPRS to EDGE and from EDGE to 3G?

im asking this because i travel a lot to my country's countryside because of my job... and i have noticed that my nexus drops the connection when changing between the signal's antennas... this is very annoying because sometimes im using the phone and it drops the calls because of this...
Is this the famous 3g trouble that everybody talks about?
Sounds like just poor reception to me, nothing to do with the phone.
this isnt exactly the "3g issue" everybody talks about. i dont have this problem as i've handed calls over from 3g to gsm during a call with no problems. same with data.
the 3g issue is that people seem to have a weaker 3g signal with the nexus one compared to other phones.
Yup, i have noticed that, my signal us weaker with my N...
is there a way to fix it?

Signal strength bars fluctuating

Hi guys, I just got my Incredible S yesterday, and I absolutely love this phone!! The only problem so far is the fluctuating signal bars. I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed here, but it seems to me that when I hold the phone...my signal gets weaker. When I put the phone on down..the signal gets stronger. Does a rubber or silicone case help as far as limiting signal interference?
Are you talking wifi signal or 3g signal?

I'm talking about 3G/H. It's such a shame. I really liked this phone, but designing the antenna on the battery cover is a huge flaw. What were they thinking?!!??
I also have the signal strength fluctuations. I have tried everything: changing the SIM card, changing operators (Swisscom and Sunrise), changing settings GSM alone, WCDMA alone, and GSM/WCDMA auto, and soft reset. The only thing I have not yet tried is a hard reset.
I wonder if somebody else has the same problem? The consequence of this problem is that often times the quality of the calls is lousy and/or the calls are dropped.
Please help me..
Have to say, my signal level is dreadful compared to my bog standard Nokia mobile phone in low signal areas, I get no signal on my Inc S while 2 or sometimes 3 bars on my Nokia. It's really spoiling an otherwise brilliant device. One thing I was wondering is if changing radio from the 22_M to the 27_M might help, anybody know what the difference between them is ?
and, data does not work over 50% of the time on gprs, but fine on hsdpa/3g/edge, don't know if that's also down to poor signal reception ?
I had the same problem with my IS. when the internet connaction GSM/WCDMA auto i had many unexeptable call ends. I put the internet connection to GSM only and every thing is ok. Acording to info i have the problem is in some operaters new software when the network type changes the telefone cannot change it normaly.
After visiting other fora, I have a crucial question to ask: is the reception problem (fluctuating bars, dropped calls, WiFi disconnecting) a generalised problem, or, rather, is my phone faulty, and therefore should I have it repaired?
HTC update the radio module immediately....

I also believe that the desire s has this same problem they are similarly designed devices now running with very similar software.
even though at times signal can be great without moving it can drop to nothing and I'll lose all signal, which I believe has caused me miss several calls as they've gone to voicemail rather than ring on the phone.
I'm hoping that an upgrade to the phones radio will fix/improve this over time (the optimistic outlook)
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App
signal
its the antenna design =Fail , put it flat on a desk and dont hold it and watch your signal go up pick it up and its like an hour glass going down
I am now arriving at the conclusion that sound quality and dropped calls (and bars fluctuating) can be explained by a connection problem when using GSM/WCDMA Auto. The problem disappears when using GSM Auto. Any views?
Same here, but it is better on "wcdma only" either. I'm suspectinig it has issues only when switching between wcdma and gsm

[Q] Force phone to stick to low signal LTE rather than switching to 3g?

Hey guys
So I looked around the forum for an answer to this question and i found similar topics but not exactly what I was looking for. I have the HTC one with sprint and the only issue I have with it is how it handles its preferred networks. If have 2 bars of LTE but 4-5 bars of 3g its going to stay on 3g and not switch to LTE. Is there anyway to change how it gives each signal preference. Currently it will wait till there is no 3g signal before it switches to 2g but LTE is not giving the same preference. I know it's just this phone because I had the iphone 5 before this and when I was on campus at my university it would stick to the 1 bar of LTE i had rather than switching to 3g. If I force the phone in LTE only mode then it will pick the LTE signal but then I can't call and text obviously so it's not very useful.
There are two things that the iphone 5 did which I miss but otherwise love this phone. One is getting LTE in places that has low coverage and the other is roaming on verizon network on 3g. The iphone would always roam on 3g but the htc one only roams on 2g.
Is there a way to change those things with this phone? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried changing the preferred in the *#*#4636*#*# > Phone Information?
Hi thanks for the response. Yes I have messed around with that. That's how I got the LTE only option. It isn't a matter of not finding LTE signal. It's just the way the phone handles what is perferred. The phone first sees if there is a strong LTE signal and it catches that but the moment it goes to about 3 bars or less it will switch to 3g. I want it to continue sticking with LTE until the signal is gone completely like it does with 3g -> 2g.

If its that way then I belive a builder will be able to forge a flashable zip for that purpose.

I see. And who do I ask for that? Or how can I build one? Sorry I am a bit of a rookie in this. I don't want to mess around with it too much but can learn. I thought there might already be some sort of hack or a modded PRL.
any new insight on this by anyone? thanks
I have lte at my work if I do lte only but it will switch to 3g when i turn everything else one because 3g signal is stronger than lte. id rather use lte however but still have my texting and calling capabilities.

I know it's not an optimal solution, but have you considered using Google Voice integration in the meantime? With LTE only mode, so long as you're signed into an app of choice (Google Voice/Hangouts should be able to handle your calls and texts if you tweak at it a bit), you should have the desired service until you can get some dev help.

Problem in 2G signal.

Hello. I don't know if I'm asking in the right place, but I got this problem where I get good 3g, and 4g signal.( actually 4g works better then any other) but in some regions, and also in buildings, where the signal usualy is not at its fullest, during calls, the phone switches fast to 2g and the call drops. If I try calling in 2G, it's a hit or miss if call is going to work, and if it works, it's gonna be for less than a minute. Is it repairable? Or should I send it back to service? (if I send back I'm afraid they are going to say there's no issues with it, since calls work, but really only outside or for short times in buildings)
I've experienced the same situation. Went to the dial pad menu *#*#4636#*#*, changed the preffered network type to LTE/WCDMA and it worked, no more drops. I had to sacrifice 2G, but I doubt if there're other options.
Yeah I've been playing around in that menu, but it seems that the 3g is not that stable either... I'm amazed how 4g can be so stable and such a good signal, and the others can be so bad... I might try to return it next week and see if they would replace it for this problem.
