So you turned on the mobile data switch before or during a phone call
I was on a call earlier and trying to access the mobile data switch during the call but it greyed out.
what are you trying to do? mobile data switch??
You can already talk and use the internet at the same time. No setting should have to be change. I never had to change any settings on any of my tmobile phones for this to work.

I'm unable to turn on mobile data during a call. It's greyed out. I'm able to to turn it on while i'm not on a phone call. My s7 edge works fine.

what iam asking is does it matter? is your internet working while your on a call?
Its possible its just an OS update that stops your from toggling data while in a call.
I just tested mines and its grey out while your on a call but there is nothing wrong with that. No reason to turn it off or on while on a call.
But what iam saying is it should be grey out and all works as it should.

Your calls are routed over data now so the toggle is greyed out so you don't accidentally disconnect yourself. Your data should work while you're on a call. It may be slower though as your voice call will be using a portion of your bandwidth.

Yep. The T-Mobile Note 7 does not give a toggle to turn off/on VoLTE. It's on by default now so what was said is true .. no turning of mobile data while on a call or .. no call.

I am looking at adding the wifi hotspot service to my phone.
I'm wondering if anybody uses it and what your experiences are?
Any things I should watch out for?
A salesman at Best Buy told me that while hotspot is running I can't make or receive phone calls, is this true?
I should clarify, I'm asking about the Verizon mobile hotspot service added to my account. I am not asking about the hacks to steal the service. I understand the reasons others use them, it's just not for me. Whether I like their rules or not, it's Verizon's network so I'm going to play by the rules.
EDIT: it looks like I have the primary answer I was concerned about, you can still make and receive calls while using the hotspot.
I have the 4g LTE hotspot on my Galaxy Nexus. Most of the time when I'm using it, I'm in 3g mode. If a call comes in, it suspends the internet connection until the call is over. I've never tried making a call while using the hotspot, and I'm not sure what would happen when using the hotspot in 4g LTE mode. Since voice calls don't use 4g LTE, I don't see why it wouldn't allow voice calls while using 4g LTE hotspot.

That's pretty much what I expected, what the tech was telling me didn't make sense. It did have just enough plausibility to it though as a carry over from the 3g days when they couldn't do voice and data at the same time.

Thanks, I thought that was one of the draws of lte was being able to have data and voice at the same time.
I'm starting to think this is a viable option as our home internet connection, dropped Comcast a last fall and been using just out phones. It has been working but finding more and more times where I need to get my computer online.

When you are using it are you running on battery or plugged in?
If you're running plugged in does it have the power to run like that indefinitely or does it still drain your battery?
Is there a way to only keep the Mobile Data but disable Calls and Texting on the Moto X?
Tmobile allows you to use you data plan internationally for free, but charges per text and call. I dont want to be charged for those.

You could try turning on Airplane mode, then enable just mobile data. I know that you can do that with wi-fi and bluetooth, but not sure if mobile data turns the cell radio back on. I think it would allow texts though. So, you want mobile data just for browsing?

That is correct. I want to use my Unlimited Data plan for using the internet while in Europe (Currently from US using Tmobile). I had tried to insert my simcard into a IPad but it gives me a message saying this Sim is not usable in this device. A tablet would have made the most sense, I am going to try and talk with TMobile about this later.
Just use a call blocker to block all incoming texts and data.
Actually, I know calls would go straight to voice mail....but I think you might still get charged for a text anyway.
Yeah...I'd buy a 2012 N7 3g. Cheap now and will do what you want.

So I'm rooted. I'm using 1.4b from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/dro...xt1254-21-44-12-quarkrootwifihotspot-t3064908
I'm noticing that whenever I make a voice call while tethering, it kills my tethering. I've also noticed that when I'm not tethering and I make a phone call, my signal goes from 4G LTE to 1X. I assume these issues are related.
Anyone have a solution?
I could be wrong. But wouldn't this be due to VoLTE?

Maybe? The thought crossed my mind.
However, I never activated "advanced calling" either through vzw.com or on my phone. In fact, looking at the option on my phone, it's just completely greyed out. Can't select or unselect it.
To simultaneously be on a call and use data you must activate advanced calling. This phone cannot activate more than one antenna at once, so when you call it calls over the 1X signal and has to disconnect from the 4G you're using to tether. If you activate advanced calling it will call over 4G, and therefore allow you to use data as well. It's kind of stupid, but since they got advanced calling fixed it's not so bad.
I've made sure that call reject list is set to off. For whatever reason though, when a call comes into my G4, the call app displays for about a second and then it refuses the call automatically causing it to go straight to voicemail. Anybody experience this issue?

I don't have this issue.
1) Is this T-Mobile branded phone?
2) What is the coverage or does this issue occur only in some places?
3) Are the settings correct under "mobile networks"?
4) Is Wifi calling feature is on/off under call settings?

Interesting. I have tested my phone vs 4G and LTE connection, don't have any of your phone issues. Couple of things came to my mind. If your sim card is not fresh, try replacing it or ask a friend if he/she has newer sim card and try to make few calls. Another important thing is VoLTE, it is also in the call options above wifi calling. IF VoLTE is on, try to turn it off and user your phone for a day and see.

I agree with this. I turned off VoLTE and my calling got better.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I tried them all. In the end, I narrowed the issue down to google voice. When I first got my G4 I tried setting google voice to be the primary voicemail service. I'm on a postpaid plan, so there shouldn't have been any issues. Not sure what happened, but it obviously screwed something up. If people call my T-Mobile number directly the call goes through just fine. If they call my GV number, the voicemail picks up just before the first ring on my G4. The caller ID pops up and then disappears as if I touch the decline button. I've tried setting my T-Mobile voice mail back to default and called T-Mobile. The problem is not persistent. It is intermittent.
When I'm on 4G I recieve all calls... But sometimes when I'm on Wi-Fi and ond online, all my calls goes straight to my voicemail... Is anyone especially having this issue... I'm using the global version on MetroPCS with full bars...
