my sum up is the second to last paragraph if you don't want to read everything.
i need help. i'm tired and on my last end of flashing roms. i flash at least 8 times a day a different rom to try them out and see which one is the best. so i'm coming out to ask everyone.
i don't want to really make a new thread about this but i just hate having to start all over with loading apps and getting my settings all ready.
my question to you all is which rom is the fastest rom out now. pure speed and reliable. i wanted to try the overclocked ones but not feeling to comfortable with my camera not working. i also have a garbage sd card so that doesn't help. i will get a real one soon but not for now. i don't really use my camera but you know when you get caught up in the moment and say oh look. and you take out the phone and bam"oh wait. my camera doesn't work" unless i can dual boot my hero with 1.6 with is super tiny????
i have tried all the roms already but i would like to hear from the community which rom do they think is the best.
i multitask alot where i will use the navigator and listen to music i will even go on a website and answer a texts all at the same time. i know that's alot asking from the hero but it's frustating to me when i'm in the car using the navigatoin and bam it closes on me cause i have alot of apps open.
another problem i have is when i get an incoming message using handset and trying to type on the keyboard. it is just so many words behind when i am typing and i just want a good rom that works. so if you can recommend the best fastest keyboard out i don't care about vibration but i do care about the sound. that's very important to me.
i don't want to name any roms out or call them out but i really like the ereis leak from damaged 1.1v but it is a battery leak on it that prevented me from staying on that rom....
what do you think of using the 1.6 rom that is bone stock and dry and adding stuff in it????
i need help choosing the fastest keyboard with as less lag as posible. i don't care if i have to buy it or not. i don't want to use swipe yet so i don't want to put that in the equation. i would like the fastest most stable rom here that can multiask and receive text using the handset pop up with no slow down. if anyone knows about the battery drain in the eris leak damaged 1.1beta and can fix it let me know....
thanks you so much,. i love my hero. and i love all the devolopers that spend there own time making roms for us to have the best experience posible. if it wasn't for them(there's alot. you know how you are) we would be sitting om hero's that can't send or receive mms, old 1.5 rom, buggy. battery dying in 3 hours. and alot more. i use 1.5 for about 3 days so i don't know all the problems the stock rom had but i know it's alot.

im running out the door but i wanted to respond to one thing you said. The AOSP 1.6 is a great rom, and you can reall customize it to your needs. Very fast. Im waiting for the 2.1 fully working AOSP, like you, i need camera. If you are looking to stay in 2.1, ive tried a few and found alyoious or whatever to be very relieable, stylish and fast.

honestly if you think 1.6 aosp is the fastest rom out there and you really highly recommend it i will try it out fully. i only used it for a couple minutes when trying to get the market place apps in.
what would you say is the cons about going to 1.6 from 2.1????

Cons? No lwp. (anyway, lwp's aren't great on our phones, kinda sluggish, amirite?) Make sure you flash the googlebits

Thanks alot. i really thank you.
i don't care about live wallpaper compared to performance. i read that thread that you gave me and i have a question.
what is the difference between that 1.6 and this
unless they are the same. i will do a research on what google bits is all about....
also can i have voice navigation on 1.6 using google maps??? if not i can just use sprint nav....
question. i looked some more in that thread and saw that some stuff isn't working. i think i should try the one i have first andd see what happens right????
if you want to wait for 2.1 to come out officially, i will recommend the pancake 1.5 rom without sense. it is by far the fastest, most stable rom ive run and with autokiller set to extreme this sucker flies.
you just keep on bring more and more questions in my head.
i thought 1.5 was just completely bugged out with the problems thats why everyone lefted???
i cant find the pancake rom with no sense. i will miss it but if the performance increase is huge then i won't miss it that much. lol.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=639278&highlight=pancake
enjoy! i have had zero bugs with this rom.
question. i had 1.6 in my mind and how it is the perfect rom and you popped up with 1.5 and i'm afraid to use it because bugs it came with before.
so would you recommend this over the 1.6 that is 16mb big????
and if so then which pancake would you recommend i would like to keep sense but if no sense is ALOT faster and MUCH BETTER with battery life then i will go stock....

go with whatever you wish but ive run this rom longer than any other. i personally don't like sense at all myself so it's your choice in the long run, sense does chew up ram so remember that. there has been zero bugs that i have found and i have a ton of free ram left and great battery life. the closest ive had to the pancake rom in terms of performance is fresh 2.0d.
ok. this is what i will do. i will download pancake 1.5 no sense and keep it on my sd card.
i want to try 1.6 to get it out my head if it is good or not. if i find any bugs i will flash over to pancake. lol.
last question. is your mms good and can i use 2.1 vanilla lock screen. i really like it.
i'm so happy.
i like how you said the closes you had to your pancake is fresh 2.0d but you flashed back to pancake so i'll also put that up there but that's if i am not happy with pancake.

no vanilla lockscreen im afraid on 1.5 but there is clear ones you can get on here if you search. mms has been fine for me.
thanks man. you have helped me out a bunch. i will try 1.6 to get it out my head if it isn't good. pancake it is. i'm so happy. i wish i could rep you.
i have a question. i'm loving 1.5 performance and the battery life is great.
i'm using the sense one because the stock 1.5 was alittle bland. but the marketplace is alittle dull
so i have wondering if there is a nice 1.6 build thats very good.
i also notice that multi-touch isn't on in 1.5 unless it is the keyboard i'm using. i'm i wrong???
(since my last thread has been deleted, I will ask again
EDIT: AND Cyanogen Mod 7 ROM DOES IT HAS BETTER CAPABILITIES??
I wanna know which rom has better capabilities simply honey or miui
(Capabilities=
which rom is faster(miui or SH) or they have +- the same speed?
which rom is stabler? or they are the same..
which rom has more and better features or they have the same?
this things..)
thanks for helping
NOTE- I have already read both SH's and MIUI's threads
NOTE- if you have nothing helpul to say to my question and you just wanna say negetive comments- do NOT NOT NOT answer!! its not the place for you
simple honey
its perfect
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
i would go to simply honey it's simpler and really good. im not on simply honey but looking at the specs of the rom it seems really good. however front camera doesnt work as it says on the ROM and you need to reflash another kernel!
another thing is they have took out apps that came in with SGS from the stock ROM some of it i find very useful. i think the speed of both ROM is quite the same ^_^.
thanks !! waiting for more people---and which rom offers more features? SH or miui?
(and I have SH 3.2 dont wanna update it to3.5 because there are problems with 3.5)
There are no problems at all with 3.5....you're getting crazy man....you're paranoic!
Try and judge!!!
Sent from my SGS with Simply 3.5 Revolution ROM
simone201--i've already tried..
there might be problems!! now I have simply honey 3.2 so I dont want to upgrade due to all the problems in 3.3 . (and as I said- 3.5might include some problems too)
p.s- why am I getting crazy ? lol? it seems you are..
waiting for more people and help please..
please help me guys.. need more comments

Do your parents still cut the crust off your sandwiches for you.
Just flash the rom and find out for yourself. If you don't like it... Move on to the next.

This is terrible, you cant compare those 2 roms.
And you said you've tested them both, so why not use that one that's better?
if its hard to understand, the word "them" means to simply honey 3.2 and 3.5 !!!
of course I can compare ONLY about the CAPABILITIES
(about how the room feels/looks/ beutiful or not-- all this things of course, I will decide by myself and im NOT asking for that)
NOTE- if you have nothing helpul to say to my question and you just wanna say negetive comments- do NOT NOT NOT answer!! its not the place for you
people please help me.. !
Dude, both are awesome. But you can not compare the two ROMs! Simply Honey is 2.3.3 based and MIUI is 2.3.4 based!
The difference in features are very minor, maybe a little here and there. But basically both are equally good ROMs. Try it out for yourself and see which one you like!
I'm currently running MIUI MCGv3 which is fantastic but it is not quite as complete as the stock custom roms like Juwe's or Simply Honey, two of the biggest let downs being the lack of an FM Radio and choppy MKV playback. But in saying that it is stunning visually and has a lot of cool unique features. I haven't used Simply Honey only Juwe's so this could be a little biased. All in all you'll have to try them out yourself, different rom's for different people and different needs.
vijaykanth--- thanks god that's what I want to know -- "The difference in features are very minor" omg thanks finally someone understands!! well I hope your right..
Shrapnel2--- thanks you very much!
still need more people and comments
**and what about the speed? the speed is preety much the same in both roms or one of them is way more faster?
(and look guys, all about how the rom looks and feels of course I will decide by myself.. im looking for the rom who has better features, and fast rom. so thats what im asking if the features, speed, stable and all this stuff are the same +- in both roms or not)

The main reason I moved to MIUI from Juwe's is that I was getting bored of the same old interface even with changing round png's in the framework and modifying bits and pieces- everything still looked bland to me. Speedwise I think that if you compared the two(Juwe's or Simply Honey on ext4) you would find them to be fairly close, I think lists tend to load faster on MIUI but it has been a while. Stability is fairly good but not 100% of the time, eg before settings Force closed on me, no biggie though as I had apps fc on Samsung GB roms too. Another thing to note is battery isn't the best on MIUI, you'll easily get a day under average use but don't expect three day marathons like some Samsung roms do. So good luck on picking!
each rom is better if the person likes it .I use miui but before that i used simply honey and it was good but i like miui better .It has lots of new features
I installed Simply Honey 3.5 the day it was released, I was previously using Darky's Rom v10 and I was very happy with the change. SH is visually beautiful, I installed Dark Core kernal after installing it to fix the bluetooth issues with CF-Root.
The front camera is still displayed sideways but thats no concern to me since I barely use it anyway. Love the new lockscreens, the market is a bit odd to look at but it doesn't bug me too much (if it does there's plenty of themes out there). After flashing the SGS2 email apk I was very pleased with my phone. It's been a lot more snappier than Darky's and haven't noticed any lag at all..
I'd take Simone's advice and install SH 3.5, you wont be dissapointed =)
Just try both for a full day - you can revert to your previous one anytime with a nandroid backup.
as far as I've understood -after restoring applications, the andorid market and applanet might not recognize them as 'installed applications'. then, I will not be able to update my restored applications
and thanks everyone!!! waiting for more comments..
Hey,
I recently moved from a HTC android phone to the Galaxy S.
I've been digging through all the custom ROMs and I have found Juwe's and GingerReal but I'm having a hard time deciding what one to pick.
Battery Life is important to me.
Speed is important to me.
Music is important to me. (although everything has Voodoo fix it seems)
I also would love BLN to be supported (I think both do that). Drives me mad not having a notification light.
They both seem to work really well and I just sort of wanted some imput on what one to pick from someone who has used both.
What one, in your opinion, is the "better" ROM for me, based on speed and battery life? (and maybe other things I am overlooking that you think are important)
Thanks,
Chuck
Why not go with Darkys? He's got one of the best roms out there with everything you've mentioned as a requirement.
While normally I would recommend cyanogen, they haven't fixed a lot of the battery drain issues that the other roms like Darky's has already.
Oh maybe Ill look at Darkys too. When I was looking at it I didn't know if it had better battery life too.
What advantages does Darkys have over these ROMS?
One of the biggest things is it has a large user and developer base than the other GB roms... quicker support and fixes that way.
It has most of the features of the other two and it has it's own kernel. This allows for more control for speed, battery and feature optimizations.

Thanks dude! Ill be loading that one.

++1 tried them all, no better than juwe. but if you are looking for large community - doc's romkitchen is the way, of course but those "large" communities are not that supportive, you need to look for answer on your questions in thousands of posts. However romkitchen is the best for novice - you will be able to see what files you can keep what files are save to delete, insanity is also good in that, very tiny rom with a good speed and supportive forum. well, try them all and see what you like. I heard that darky is good and i had it for a while but the dev himself is using different phone, so, think further.
Just moved from Ultibread to GingerReal myself last night. Piling on all my old Apps is a pretty good stress test and it held up well. Still flying this afternoon. Battery life seems improved too given I have been proding it all day and its still going. Took the punt over Juwe and not disappointed thus far

I have been using juwe's 4.3.1 and darky's 10.1 both on JVH. I personally thinks that in-terms of speed (no lags) juwe's doing great, much better than darky's. you can feel the smoothness in juwe's rom but with darky's rom, sometimes you will get slight lagging especially media scanning + background sync running at the same time.
Well, I am running darky's rom anyway.. hehe.. coz darky's 10.1 has nice icons, but bit disapointed compared to darky's 10 final (no gtalk 1.3).

Wait for GalaxyICS team build.
In Ace section you will found Camera working for Ace, GalaxyICS team working source for our device to.
so wait it on Galaxy ICS site news.
There is a discussion thread about it , why to create a new thread again ?
Cheers
Camcoder and HW acceleration in that ROM will never work because qualcomm hasn't released the OpenMAX codecs... even if they manage to make it all working anyway, i'm not going to use that hacked and unstable rom - and probably very little group of people will use it. CM7.2 is just fine, why the hell someone wants ICS so badly, I haven't found a single advantage over Gingerbread except saying android 4.0 in about menu...
Go flash CM7 or any other GB rom and enjoy, stop waiting for something that you will never be satisfied with.

Agreed, CM9 stable and smooth, the only bug for me is camera, But CM7 has many many bugs ..
BTW, If you want to fix lockcreen and usb layouts go there:

Best Regards
It all depends on opinions, layout of ics is better than GB or cm7 so that attracts people towards ics. I'd definitely use it if they manage to get camera working.

You are the one that has bugs in his mind, obviously. CM9 stable? CM7 buggy? Who are trying to screw here mate? ONLY bug that CM7 has for our device is camera orientation - but fix for that exist, although i'm not using it - because the bug is easy to understand. If you start the camera app while holding your phone in landscape mode, orientation if fine. If you start it in portrait mode, then it rotates for 90* - you can rotate it back to where it should be in just one tap on the screen.
CM9? LDPI UI optimisations suck big time, lacks RAM, needs swap to operate normally on our phone -> LAGS, heavy duty apps tend to crash, the rom itself is bigger than CM7 -> less internal memory left -> sd-ext a must -> more LAG! Not to mention camera... there is some other tiny stuff that bug me, but theese are the major ones.
Gotta screw arround to make V6 SuperCharger working right, no hassle on Gingerbread. Half of apps need to be designed for ICS, GB apps tend to have bugs too, so more and more fails i don't even want to touch on. Does it still have problems when i try another lockscreen style other than default? Accept button on caller reciever screen showing the half only... i just don't have strenght to go on.
Was locking up on my phone pretty frequently, so i returned back. And you know what - with a little bit of time, you can make your Mini run like a completely different phone - i deleted like 20 apps that come stock with official CM7.2 - system is much more responsive and i keep all my apps in internal memory - don't even have sd-ext and swap partitions on my SD card (that would slow up my system since i have class 4 sd card, but it will acctualy slow the system down no matter what card i am using). Slammed V6 SuperCharger script on it - flies!. And, to add the cherry to the cake - i've set cpu governor to ondemand and lowest frequency to 122MHz - happy battery! Don't need to worry if my deepsleep works or not...
Sorry, I just had to write this post, somebody would think CM9 in this stage acttualy is better than CM7.2. I am not saying it can't get better, but you really got to understand that there are no ICS libs drivers for our device, and hacking Gingerbread ones won't make us go anywhere - its like putting a Yugo 45hp engine in a Bugatti... i mean cmon, its better to tune that crappy engine a little bit, dump out the back seats, lighten the body, than to put the engine in the heavy Bugatti. Hope you understood this anology, it really explains the situation about ICS for our device. (yes we have Adreno 200 GPU drivers, but transmission does not make the whole car )
Maybe i'll open somebody's eyes, maybe somebody will hate me, or somebody will find himself insulted - i don't give a damn, the situation is the way it is - there is no way arround it.
Cheers!

GalaxyICS haven't tass yet, so they cannot fix layouts for LDPI devices.
Best Regards
I'm glad you're open for chill disscusion - haven't saw that kind of person for a long time . Hats off!
Community patches... are they awesome and helpfull - yes for sure! But think of filling your SDcard with like 10 patches that you need to flash after flashing the ROM, and the incompatibility that might occur between them - that's not something i want to think of on my "daily drive" phone .
Yeah, they don't have our device and thats really unfortunate - but they will get it fixed. Untill then... again, tiny and undetailed ('cause of ldpi, not nececarily the rom - ICS really wasn't designed with LDPI in mind - but increasing the size WILL help!) icons in the notification bar, and some other stuff is not something that gets me to flash their rom, although i did it, just to see how far they came with developing some other stuff.
For not having the device, GalaxyICS team is doing a really great job IMO, kudos to devs!
I'm somewhat of a person who wants perfection, but this is far from stable, again, in my oppinion. If you can use it - go for it, but i think people are flashing custom ROMs to make their device better in all areas, not just the looks or the performance, which in CM9 roms are both mediocre. Our device is crap, and the moment I (and you, at some point) understood that it's outdated POS, i realised that i can't get much better than this.
Guys, people are begging for CM7 on Galaxy Young - and you were (probably) doing that too. Now we want CM9, and this trolling and spamming arround the forum just discourages the devs and they will eventually leave and get another device for which they will develop roms. Think about it - they are not diretcly paid for their hard work - they pull out some money through ads and such things. Some of them don't get a single penny!
I've written something i did not want to, but hey, i'm not in the mood to retype all this in another shape and form - just fine like it is now.
If you wait patiently (for the OP, and for the rest that are waiting), try out some other roms and tweaks, time will fly faster and you will probably learn some other things along the way!
I've tried some custom ROMs, I've read some reviews from the users of those ROMs. I wonder, why some people gets some bugs, and the others not getting that bugs?
Some people said that 'this ROM is very bad, everything force closes, laggy, blah blah blah. I've wipe data and cache but it's still...' but the others said 'this is the best ROM, no major bugs mentioned so far.'
What do you think makes this things happening?
How i see it is that user try out the ROM for 5-10 mins and don't run into problems and report thigs like this - that everything runs fine.
You should use it for quie a bit to try out every single par of it - maybe you won't recieve a call in that short period, but if you use it for a couple days, you sure will, and then you will notice the call accept button bug for example in CM9.
Also, not every person takes the bug the same way - somebody doesn't mind the call accept button bug, so they don't report it - you can accept the call but... yeah, its a unexplainable bug
This is just an example, many things go on like this. Also for the camera orientation bug in CM7.2 - i was always starting the camera in the orentation that doesn't cause the bug. Never tried to start it when rotating the phone, so i wasn't noticing the bug. Somebody is different than me, he starts the camera with his phone rotated - and poof, there you have the bug every time.
well i have tried almost all roms that have been released for at least a week before posting any review according to my experience even cm7 has a long way to go in terms of stability and performance. what actually happens is that we all keep tryin roms and roms but forget what a rom is made for. choice differs from person to person if i were asked to choose gb ics and jellybean on our mini then i would anytime go with gb. like if you like looks then miui stability stock or stock based customization cm based and so on and so forth.bugs are not in roms but in our mentality a dev works hard day and night just to see the smile on our faces which even he cant see so please dont spam and discourage any dev who knows if all our devs got together they might make a completely new os for our mini. all the devs i am with you and will always be with you.
Hi everyone !
There's quite some interesting roms for our LG Optimus 2x. I've been using stock, then DjangoManouche (for quite some time), then MIUI v5 (using it right now). MIUI seemed a good idea at the time, but honestly it's quite inusable, very heavy. So I'm looking for a nice and lightweight rom, which could be used with my LG specs, here :
JB preferred, kowalski kernel actually, new bootloader with 30b baseband.
Problem is, there are so much roms I have no idea where I should start ...
So, could you please share what you think i should give a try ?
Thank you !
I don't know about the baseband, but you should check mostly up to date roms, like tonyps' the ROM, cm10.1 t-build, pa by the same tony or cm10.1 by pengus. You could also try slim roms by djnoxd. If i remember correctly, all of them are pretty much lightweight, comes with kowalski kernel. I like the slim rom color inversion, but other roms are nice too. You should try them and see which one appeals you most. Good luck!
Sent from my LG-P990
Check my signature. Very nice ROM I am sure you will like
hmm ... 2 answers already, and 2 suggesting slim* roms. I think that's the way to go then
Seems there are multiple versions ? Anyway, thank you both of you for your advices, I will try it and come back to close this topic with result and feedback.
Again, thank you !
Ahh, I see a fellow "let's find the best" rom-flasher. I am more or less exactly like you. I even installed the latest MIUI just yesterday. But after having this device for some time, I found my sweet spot. Yes, MIUI is heavy(I even disabled some built in apps, but still wasn't good enough), ICS doesn't quite cut it, 2.3 is way too old for me to enjoy, and 4.4 is not perfect. I found my sweet spot to be TonyP's Clean CM10.2. I use it with the Android 4.4 kitkat theme and Nova Launcher. That combined with Greenify does the job quite beautifully. As for SlimBean, I didn't test it, but I see a lot of users are enjoying it. Search. That's my advice. I used every available rom on here, just to find my preference. For now, I'm waiting for CM11 and the 3.1 kernel to be fully operable, and then I'll probably switch to CM11. All in all, you've got everything you need.
Thanks for your advice NoDze. Topic is a bit more specialized, as I'm searching for the lightweight rom, not the best. I honestly can't try them all but I guess I can't really avoid it at some point. So, thanks for sharing your setup, that's another one to considerate :good:

By definition, a lightweight rom should be one with only basic stuff implemented, like phone, messaging and stuff, and furthermore, it would be nice that such one is as AOSP as possible. Tony's The ROM, for example, is in my opinion bloated with features, and that's why I avoid it. I, myself, remove all applications that I consider unusable fro the zip, prior to flashing. SlimRom, as much as the name might imply, is in my opinion full of additional features for which I find no need. It is a great rom, nevertheless, but everyone has its own preference. You can even try the good old "Look Ma" CM10 by Pengus. That ROM has only basic stuff, clean CM and I often hear here on the forums that by flashing KK M1, it's a beast. I mean, asking which ROM is the best is really as if you're asking what superhero is the best in a comicbook store. As for lightweight: OptiX(ICS), LookMa(CM10),SlimBean(CM10.1, CM10.2). I know you knew all this, but I just wanted to provide further info.

'Seems quite a good definition to me . That's what i was searching for. SlimBean answered the call. For now, it rocks It was able to withstand everything I've thrown at it, plus the installation was smooth, fast, and easy. Indeed, there's a lot of features i'm not going to use, but it doesn't seem to affect speed (so far). Everything is working (i mean Camera, Photo, Wifi etc) and LG2x is very well responding.
Curiously, the only things a bit out were native android launchers : i've tried the one that comes with slimbean and the 4.4 launcher, and i experienced some problems with both of them rapidly (some slowdown, crashes). Apex launcher fixed that, but i'm not sure why android launchers were so slow.
Then, thank you again for your answers and your infos. Acknowledged, received, and saved
[Troll mode /on] And by the way, everyone in a comic shop should know that wolverine is the best superhero ever created... mwhouhahah [Troll mode /off]
