Multiple text messages on custom Cyanogenmod image - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I built my own version of Cyanogenmod from source using the latest stable sources, but I'm having the issue of multiple text messages being sent on Sprint. Did I miss a fix or commit somewhere? I know this was fixed a while back, but I'm thinking I missed something while building the ROM. Any help I could get would be fantastic.

IIRC this has something to do with the ROM not "seeing" the Country code

Hm, didn't know that was a thing. Not sure how to go about fixing it, but nothing a little digging around can't fix.

Well, apparently that was an old issue. I am aware of the fix that was implemented in lollipop, just not sure what could be going on in the marshmallow version. Maybe some fix that google never released to AOSP. Gonna keep digging

What rom do you have installed?

Yeah, mine is the same. Several other people noted the same thing, and curiously still it does not have the OTA even though the official one works just fine. Look in Settings, I suspect you have a 338.
Probably the best thing to do is go over to where DJ Steve is now and install his latest ROM.. I am soon, but right now there's some weird problem where the display blinks randomly so I'm waiting for that to get figured out.
Why go through the extra steps of a rom when you can just force the official one on your DS7. It's been posted. Pop this in your browser:

Because Steve's ROM is much better than Dell's, obviously.
Yeah, that's why his thread hasn't been touched since august 29th with zero updates since a bit before then. Once official HC hit everyone NV flashed back to stock and updated to official HC. But I'm sure you're right. A ported Xoom dump of 3.2 modified to work on the DS7 is going to be better than the official version made for it.

um.. Yeah. Look again, the mods here closed his thread because he couldn't provide the kernel source he's using. So he's on another forum now, with a large number of people using it. It's based on the official version, better setup, kernel, rooted, etc...
Use whatever you want.
Not that I mind standing corrected, but giving vague advice with no real direction doesn't really help the guy. You could at least point him in the right direction. Tell someone to just do "this" and assume he knows where to go or what to do doesn't really help.
There's a REASON that direct links arnt posted, since xda had issues previously with him and his source code, the right thing to do is not post direct links. (Though the sauce issue has resolved itself)
If you look at the other website they avoid linking back to xda.
Well I could care less about political crap on here and who has issues with what. If they want to flag my post, so be it. If the link is there, he can click on it.

I took the paddler's advice (and thanked).
Honeycomb works as advertised, though to tell the truth I haven't found a reason (yet) to prefer it over Froyo.
Just start roaming through the tablet oriented apps in the market. There are a few that make a difference. The one problem is if you already have vga res on your phone. The Dell just stretches it to a 7" screen, so you won't notice that much of a difference during normal use as you would if you had a 600p screen (like I have on my Evo View now, though it's only running GB).

[Q] Camera and MMS questions.

So i got my droid 3 a while ago and instantly rooted it and put CM#( I think 9, but it was a while ago so i don't remember) on it. I hadn't updated it since that day because I worked out a theme and stuff and didn't feel like messing with a working thing till recently. I decided to update with the latest AOKP. I have gotten just about everything up and running but i was wonder about two things. First being MMS. I can recieve pictures, videos, and sound but i am unable to send them. I tried the default SMS app and Handcent. Ideas? And second, is there a fix for the camera yet? i remember there was for what i use to have, but when i found it again it hasn't been updated since March and didn't work when i tried to flash it. More details in the specs. If anything else is needed please just ask. I looked in the forum but didn't find my answers.

[Q] SELinux

Basically I'd like to know if there is a way to compile cyanogenmod with SELinux completely removed. I cannot get my MIUI port to boot when based on more up-to-date versions of cyanogenmod that have SELinux committs. I can compile CM from source, but I don't know how (or if it's even possible) to remove it completely. Any help would be appreciated.
@skeevydude ... I know you're probably busy with your nice shiny 4.4 kitkat and all, but you are the resident guru lol. If you've got any input, apparently we live in the same area, I'll buy you a drink some time. :highfive:
@skeevydude
@Tquetski
Any help with this guys? This is really what's holding up everything as far as MIUI is concerned. I have read my ass off for a couple of weeks now trying to find something on it. I have a feeling it's something that is just so simple that nobody comes out and says it because it should be common knowlege.....

I don't believe it's possible to remove SELinux. It's an actual part of Linux. In previous android versions the option was just hidden/not available to users.

Hm. That's odd. Because the later builds of cyanogenmod 10.1 "added" SELinux according to their changelogs. Maybe I just read wrong. But still, according to CM even the SELinux that is there is disabled, so if it was there all along then I'd be able to just disable it (which is completely possible) and go on about my business but that doesn't seem to work.

Tmobile 5.1 summary

There are so many different threads right now with repeat and/or conflicting information I am trying to sort some things out. From what I've either read or experimented with first hand, anything stock image based with any of the new radios will work, but aosp roms only work with the old 5.0 radio. The one exception to this that I don't understand is euphoria and the 98r radio work on Tmo. I am able to get and make calls while on lte. I don't have anywhere near enough knowledge to understand this so I'm hoping others can chime in and explain what's going on. I haven't tried the Tmo M build and I haven't updated my bootloader and I've only used banks gappps, if any of that matters at all.
terminus rom as well(released today). i can receive calls on lte with a new radio, and volte is working. yes, im on tmobile. btw, it is an aosp issue. but we have found whats missing, so soon itll work in all aosp roms as well.
Good to know, thansk for that info. So it's just a matter of the rom devs adding something to fix it? Why is it only Tmo users affected?

[Q] What is CM doing?

I tried to flash CM on my N6 and it bootlooped. So I got to checking, since going public, Cyanogenmod has not put out anything but nightlies since cm10. What is going on? Why start up an actual company if you're just going to pump out nightlies from a generator?

This is one of the reasons why many users have jumped ship for other ROMs.
I have tried CM over the years on several devices and I've never found them to be most stable ROM out there. maybe it's just me but I tend to avoid them now.

Cyanogenmod (the open source rom) and Cyngn Inc are not the same. People really need to learn this.

They are not as separate as they are trying to imply. cyngn is the "business" side that CONTROLS the "code" side. Cyanogenmod is the *pretend* community side. The relationship between the two is parasitic. Nothing goes into cyanogenmod without going THROUGH their gerrit server, which is wholly under the control of employees of cyngn.
Exactly. Thank you. CyanogenMod is open source community driven, Cyanogen Inc is a business.
Would you say Fedora Linux is the same as Red Hat?
As for the OP, CM12 wasn't around long enough to go milestone yet. They release a stable variant when they are no major bugs and all the *extras* are included. This takes a while.

and I completely understand this, but not even so much as a RC since cm10 is a bit odd, right?

This explains it:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Release_Versioning
There are never going to be RCs or Stables.
