As the title says, supolicy is taking up over forty percent of my phone's CPU quite often, but not always. I discovered this a while ago by running
Code:
top -m 10 -n 1 -d 1
trying to optimize my phone. The problem is I have not been able to figure out why supolicy is taking up that much processing or what I can do about it.
Info on my phone:
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini SCH-I435 (Verizon)
Android 4.4 Kit-Kat (Touchwiz)
Rooted with Kingoroot
SuperSU version is 2.78
If anyone has any ideas what's going on or how I can figure out what's going on, (any logs I should be looking at?) I'd be very grateful. This phone gets really slow and unstable sometimes and the battery life is pretty poor, and I'd like to get it running smoothly and efficiently. Having 40% of the CPU used as often as it is is not ideal at all. Thanks!
I posted this to the stable thread after reading the read me for this forum. I would delete this thread, but I don't know if I even can. I apologize for that.

This morning there is a new item in the notification pull down screen.
Updates Available
1 update found
I'm scared to even click on it, thinking it will automatically download and install the patch that kills root. I am currently running Fresh 2.1 and don't want to change a darn thing!
I had followed these instructions:
DISABLE OTA UPDATES!!!!
To disable OTA updates that will patch this exploit, (after rooting and booted after creating a nandroid backup) run the following commands from Command Prompt.
Code:
cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
Code:
adb remount
Code:
adb shell
Code:
mv /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip.bak
After doing this, the OTA updates WILL still download, BUT they will not pass signature checks to flash because of the code you just entered.
So do I just clear the notice? Has anyone clicked this thing?

Well of course that's what I ment - Urban dictionary defintion of Trouble: Awesome state of coolness few people have ever experienced. the only known cause is the presence of either Nebenezer or Chuck Norris.
Ha! Both of you where the first to give me help! Too funny.....
Ok, since I have you both here, I have a silly question.
After I re-rooted after the 2.1 RUU, one of the first ROM's I flashed was Fresh 2.1.2.....I can't for the life of me remember why I didn't like it. Flashed Damage and a few others and ended up with Fresh 2.1, which I love.
So, after reading about both Fresh's ROMs, I don't see much difference.
Did 2.1.2 just fix things? There is absolutely nothing wrong with 2.1 (at least for me), but feel like I might be missing out on something I overlooked.
Whatchu think?

I can't keep up any more LOL.
I think 2.1.2 was de-odexed and might be a little faster for you in that case.
I am on a fresh 2.1.2 with friend stream that JSChi put out yesterday.
You still have to be careful with those updates. There has been cases where an update has either basically removed itself or severely gimped features of the program and that is either because it infringes on a copyright or the author decided to go the paid route and firebombed his old free app. It has happened in the past.
There have also been cases of major bugs being introduced that don't get fixed for awhile.
Just make sure to read the comments as people will usually mention those things.
Anyone else having issues with a weak wifi reception..... for some reason over the last weak or so my wifi reception has reduced by at least 20% have no idea why.... have done factory reset with no avail

I checked and Gomdolight is for Korean version (f340 I think), are you sure you can?
(in the thread of Gomdolight, 1 guy was successfully installed, but he said nothing different, hhope he did not mean about wifi)
Could you report your try here?
Thanks in advance
Yes, I did as well and came to the same conclusion as the Dev did regarding the post stating no real changes noticeable. I plan to pm that member later on to see if he has any more feedback/advice before I commit. From what I gather the more modded features involve Korean based apps and such so for a D950 user not to notice is not surprise. I should know more tomorrow evening weather or not it is effective or not. Would do it sooner but I need to stay connected today so..... I'll keep you posted.
For me, the wifi strength is important. The rom itself does not matter.
Anyway, waiting for your post
==== edit =====
I had some time to check Gomdolight. Actually it is not a ROM, but a Modifier (remove system apps)
I don't think they change something for wifi-driver, which I believe is the problem for the weak wifi.
but just let me know how it is improved with your Gflex
thanks

Hey,my apologies to all who were waiting on the results of my attempted flash of the Gomdolite firmware mod. I'm sorry to report that although it installed successfully( albiet in a limited capacity due to variant and build discrepancies), it did not resolve my wifi woes.I will continue running Gomdolite despite that fact. Off topic and my apologies in advance, but it has improved my devices overall speed and fluidity. Hope someone has a solution soon...Btw, since my D950 doesn't have to function as my primary phone as of yesterday, (returned to Samsung, Note4) I am willing to Guinea pig for the common good of finding a resolution to our issues.Let me know if you got anything to test.
Hello
because my Touchpad, running CM9, got slower and slower I decided to clean it and put an Update on it.
I need a stable (as possible) ROM with working camera, wi-fi, sound and video acceleration. Bluetooth would be nice but not necessary.
I don't need new apps from newer versions, etc.
It's a 32 GB Version.
Which ROM would you suggest me and where to get it+gapps?
Thanks in advance!
With kind regards
Cosy
The I would suggest that you view the development thread where you will see the different roms for this device and links to gapps or whatever else you may need will be available in the Opening Post what people want or need is down to the user. There you will be able to read individual comments about what does or doesn't work and be able to make your own informed decision.
There are numerous development threads and I don't know which to read.
In addition I can't read a thread holding 250 pages of posts just to pick a ROM.
A little hint would be nice.

Here's a hint I'm using Milaq's KK Rom and you don't need to read 250 pages just the op and the last few or more if you feel like it.
But it comes down to you making an informed decision.

I would need the same, and I dont see a reason why you guys that tried all the roms could simple write down a version thats stable and functional, I dont care if its NAdroid 4.2, or 4.3. or 4.4, I just need a functional tablet that has a functional Skype, Netflix and wifi.
Is that a big problem to write, I dont have hours and hours of time to searc (which is useless) to figure out which rom. A small baby at home, work I have everyday, and really not spare time to waste on research.
I apologize in advance if someone gets ofended, but at the time when I was a kid I would spend hours messing online, now I dont have that anymore.
On topic - my biggest issue that the tablet is draining battery like crazy, and is totally glitchy, slows down, all though everything works, but slow and battery is ridiculous.

Well if you read my post which you have quoted you'll see that I did make a recommendation but if you you're after someone to wipe your bottom and put a cookie in your mouth it won't be me. It's the arrogance of people like yourself that makes me wonder why I or anybody else bothers to try and be helpful.
Have a nice weekend I know you've p***ed me of.

And I would be obliged if you can stop quoting me. I really don't want anything to do with you especially as you are still taking the p***.

do you know if it's possible to upgrade directly from cm9 to cm10.1 (no wiping)?
Hi everyone.
My name is Adam, it's my first post here, but I'm already long time with you guys.
At the beginning i would apologise for my probably bad English. But I'm already desperate to write her and ask for help.
I'm definitely not newbie. But not a "geek" of course, but doesn't scared me rooting, img flashing, adb and fastboot command's etc. I've played already with old good Xperia X10, later with HTC Desire HD long time ago. This is also my third Nexus. First was N4, then N5 and now shamu.
But...
My N6 is also quite close to "meet the wall or floor"...
So, the problem is, my Nexus randomly, suddenly turned off. Without any warning. There is no rules. Sometimes one, two times per day, other time I'm turn them on, and after a while phone go's off again. Mostly happened that when network signal strength go's lower, but not always. Sometimes it's happening with max signal strength. Just like i says, no rules. I have tried everything. Flashing stock image -the same situation. Custom ROMs -nothing changed... Cyanogen Mods 13,14, different kernels tons of radios and bootloader's -really doesn't matter. Still the same.
Around year ago battery was changed. Using now not original, but also not some "cheaper no name" battery, without any issues. Doesn't look like that are on some way connected, but probably should i mention that.
Attached Logcat log (splitted because of size restrictions), dmesg log and some SysFS dump log created with Kernel Adiutor app.
Maybe those can help and explain something.
Please help... I love my phone much... we have explored together hundreds or thousends of builds and mods, but so far I'm really close to say goodbye to my old good friend Nexus.
Greetings and thanks in advance
Adam.

The logcat Has thousands of errors and many of the errors are rom related but there is also a few battery related
11-09 22:17:16.458 20299 20335 E BatteryStatsService: power: Missing API
This I bet is where it is causing an issue.
As for the battery I wouldnt trust anything but an official replacement. I know that might not be an option really but unless it is official replacement then I wouldnt use it.
Could be true, issue attempt first time after I've changed battery, but quite long time was perfect. No such of issue. Is there some way to prove if those error are guilty?
Thanks for your respond.
Greetings
Adam.

The only way to tell is run completely stock. And then go from there. Any errors that come up will have to be fixed one by one until you find the issue.
Or put back the old battery temporarily to see if it works?

That's not gonna happen, i throw them away long time ago...
Wiping completely with media and flashing stock image seems to be the most reasonable steps so far.
I will be back here already on stock rom and fresh Logcat soon.
Thanks and Greetings.

Hello again.
My nexus are back to stock. All partitions wiped, Official Google Android Nougat image was flashed. After newest TWRP image was flashed, and phone was rooted. New logcat log atatched.

Hello All,
Already fourth day tested and stressed my Nexus 6 using couple of different rom's with new original Motorolal battery and problem seems to be solved.
Thanks to all, especially thank you Zelendel for saving my good friend shamu from being destroyed.
Thread can be closed, guilty was found, and definitely was them cheap "no name" battery.
Greetings.

Is there any benefit of debloating my phone? Will I see any difference (in battery or just in general)? I haven't debloated my phone since I changed my firmware. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, it took me all of like 1.5 minutes to do it. Like most Android users, I had a desktop setup with ADB shell already, so I just connected my OP10 to it and copied the commands from that thread into a .bat file, and ran it. If nothing else, I like that the AOD is finally gone, it feels like maybe it eeks out a bit more power but my battery on 13 still doesn't seem to be where it was back on 12. I'm not sure what's going on.
But... most people ask this on the debloat thread, you know, you'll get replies from more people who've done it.
