Reliance Jio Sim - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone got reliance jio sim on our device. I am not able to generate the code yet. I am running custom rom paranoid android. Do we need to have stock rom installed for myjio app to work ??
Edit: My Jio sim is working now with all services on. Reply to thread if you want to know regarding any other issue.

no it doesn't matter whether you're running custom rom or stock android...the updated myjio app doesn't seem to give bar code. Install the old apk which is 3.2.05 now turn off your WIFI or cellular data and open the app now tap on myjio there you'll see an option 'Get Jio Sim', now turn on your WiFi or your cellular data and tap on get jio sim and there you are, just follow the instructions and you're done if this doesn't works for you then i suggest you to follow this one - first clear from recent apps if you have opened it now turn on your WiFi or cellular data and open the app and tap on install jio apps it will then automatically install all the apps via playstore, once you are done head to my jio and tap on it then select get jio sim

No you don't.

Hey its not working. When i click on get jio sim, it shows error as our systems arent responding, please try again later.
Nd no moto x doesnt have VoLTE support.. You can only use it for data purpose.

that's really strange but you can try this method on the updated apk which is on the play store, just give it a shot with the updated apk...try with the second method
but if moto x doesn't have VoLTE then you mean we can't make a call while we're connected to LTE ? or we can make calls while connected to LTE but we won't get HD call ?
and the moto x 2014 verizon got the VoLTE after android 5.1 update

And yeah u cannot make voice calls via LTE.. You can only use it for data usage.

Yaa thnx for the link... I have followed the same steps, i think i followed the same technique from some other page. But in this one, the last line will help me.. It have shown the same error as mine.. They have instructed to do it repeatedly bcoz of busy jio servers. Thanks again
And ya may be you are right about the calls. You sure you are not been charged for the call ??

Thanx a lot friend. I got my coupon code for getting Jio sim. Thanks for helping. I just needed to retry, nothing else. May be the servers are available at night. So it generated the code easily

Hi, I want to know Is jio sim working with our device xt1092. Because I have inserted the sim but it is not showing any signal bar and only showing emergency calls only. Will u help me how to get signal... Somewhere I have read that our device need some patch to work with jio sim...

no, you don't need any patch you just need to install all the apps and you can make calls via jio4gvoice app, the devices that don't have VoLTE can only make calls through the app, if you have VoLTE support then you can directly call from the dialer itself but i'm not totally sure about this but as far as i know moto x 2014 doesn't support VoLTE, our device supports VoLTE but we just need a software or update or probably editing the build.prop will enable the VoLTE only few devices supports VoLTE and maybe your sim is not activated, to activate you need to dial a number which is 1977 only if you have the network also you can see here https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-use-my-jio-4g-sim
but once you apply for the sim i believe the sim will be activated after 15 days as I've been told

Still I am not able to solve the no signal problem... Even my sim (data only) is activated... But there is no signal only showing emergency calls... I have tried so many methods after watching videos on YouTube but all in vain... Can anyone help me plz...

great, I'm on RR rom too but my sim is not activated yet so i can't really tell, but once your sim is activated you need to dial 1977 for televerification process but for this you need to submit your documents including the bar code first if you've done this then you need to wait for the sim to activate first

I got the bar code, everything else is submitted..... Now waiting for sim to get activated.... Hope it will be by this week..

Make sure your on CDMA and not global mode. Settings :network then make sure CDMA is checked and not global

They did not set up your phone in store your you? They are kind of Nazi about that.
Do you have your SIM card installed correctly? If the SIM is not in, or not in correctly then 4G wont work.
Also do you have mobile data turned on, have to ask.
Mine data is set to global and works but yeah try setting it to CDMA/LTE

Settings, Tethering & Networks, Mobile Networks, System Select, LTE/CDMA. If you don't have that option, something is up with your phone, might be a bad sim or something, take it back to the store.
I've had mine on global since forever. Global does not turn off LTE. Perhaps something is physically wrong. Check the SIM
You need a new SIM. Happened to me. Did a bunch of research and there was hints of the SIM that comes with the phone by default sometimes having an issue with 4G. I called Verizon and they sent me one next day. Installed it and been fine ever since.
Try it, It is free and I am pretty sure it will fix it.

If you have a local (not 3rd party) store, you can get a SIM free there also.

[Q] What ROM are the Verizon users using?

Hey guys, I just picked up a Nexus 6 64GB to use on my Verizon unlimited account ($699, OUCH!). So far everything has been great, but I'm playing with different ROMs and trying to find the best one. In the past I've used CM and AOKP, but AOKP is all but dead and CM is still on 5.0 as far as I can find. I'm trying to find a reliable ROM that has VoLTE (so 5.1+) and has the ability to change the menu bar buttons.
I would use cleanROM with the 98R radio heard it works best for VZW users...

scratch that, just needed a reboot. I'm still not sure VoLTE is working though, as soon as I try calling someone the LTE on the signal bars disappears.

Toggle the 4g calling off and then on and then it will work.
Reboot looses volte till u toggle it off. The setting under networks

For verizon use the 98r. seemed to work best for verizon users
I'm on Cleanrom which is on the 95r radio. I had to submit a ticket to add the N6 so its going to be a few days.

It won't be added many of us tries. Since the imei doesn't start with 99 it won't be added.

Ah, that was the piece I was missing. I had incorrectly assumed that the hidden menu applied only to the stock ROM, as was the case with past phones I had.
Unfortunately it's still not working, the "TURN ON VOLTE PROVISIONED FLAG" does nothing when I tap it, I've tried several times now, rebooted, flashed the 98r radio... What could I be missing? Could this be an issue caused by getting my phone from Google directly instead of through Verizon?

Thats incorrect, can be 2G/3G/4G, the other sim is 2G/3G.
To ther op's, for all I know, the P7 and 8 is full active, you can use sim one to call sim two and you phone will start to ring, thats the same for sim one on call, whiles data can be used to surf the internet on sim two. This feature has been removed for all released afterwards.

Nothing can be done about it, of all the phone only Huawei P7 and 8, from what I know has this feature, all the newer Huawei has removed the feature, and other manufacture thinks it's not worth having it.

No volte support on sm-n950U1 (USA unlocked)...??

Hi friends, I bought unlocked 64gb, single sim version of note 8 from New York last week but when I tried to use it with "Jio" sim in India, I found that phone does not support volte. Neither I could find any option in settings to activate that. So, how can I activate volte in the Said handset. Presently, using volte through "jio4gvoice" app. Pls help.
There is a thread about switching USA Carriers.
If you have, the right files you can get VOLT and other features working. At lest in the USA.

I am using unlocked gn 8-N950U1 in the US with tmobile, I get VoLTE and video calling as well as wifi calling. For video calling feature, download Shortcut Master (Lite), open and click app explorer, scroll down to IMS settings, launch then look for IMSsettingsLaunchActivity, turn the followings to On.

I don't know about the service out of USA but it works for me at least in the US with tmobile. Good luck!

For me, I just leave it there. It is completely up to you. It's just really small app, it won't take that much space. I leave it there just in case we update firmware from Samsung, video calling settings might be lost and we have to do the settings again. By the way, I'm glad it works for you there.
I leave mine as well...I like playing in settings and other apps...it is really a useful tool once you get used to its search feature

rcs is rich communication services. kinda like iphone's i messaging but sux. lol. Its stuck to carrier only, so sprint to sprint, tmo to tmo, etc. but it's kinda nice because u can send large videos and photos.

I understand the steps and tried, it did not work for me, no icon for VOLTE nor i can make any calls.
Can you please share the S/W version and steps you enabled ? I have been stuck from a week
Also, phone is asking for a 'number' when i enable the RCS , i gave the same JIO number it did not accept. Did you also get that prompt ? Is your RCS enabled ?

Dear friend, I just followed the steps mentioned in this thread and it's working fine till date without any issues. Just recheck you might have missed something. And about sw version will let you know in a day as the phone is of my uncle. Onething more, after following the steps did you check in settings menu and was volte option showing there after you followed the steps?

Dear friend, just recheck the steps and did you check in menu after you followed the steps that, volte option is now showing there or not? Rest, will let you in a day the sw version as the phone is with my uncle, but its working fine till date without any issues.

This worked great for me thank you.
Works on Android 7.0, but not on Android 8.0
Thanks for the update. I have been using VoLTE in India using this method since last Aug 2017. However after recent official Android Oreo update on 17th March 2018, I am unable to invoke the IMSSettingsLaunchActivity using any Shortcut application. Using "QuickShortcutMaker" app when I tried to invoke this activity, I got the error message:
"Sorry. You cannot launch this activity from this app because it requires some additional permissions to launch."
This was working perfectly on Android 7.0.
Any alternate idea to enable VoLTE switch (aka IMS Service switch)? Through ADB? (No rooting please).

I am also facing an issue to do such setting from the mentioned app.
Whenever I click on Ims launcher activity error comes as no data found.
I am on 8.0.0

Yes it's not working on Oreo. There are a few posts on here about it, I saw on one person's posts that I would have to find again that they have came up with a java programme that can get pass the OTP or one time passcode to access the IMS settings. I haven't tried it yet, but want to try that out soon

This is based on rooting which I want to avoid af all times since many of my org related apps would stop working on a rooted phone.
I had downgraded my S8(Sprint unlocked) phone to Nougat long back because of this issue. I can't upgrade till the issue with ims doesn't get resolved on Oreo rom.

Phone restarting...

I had this happen in 3 different instances:
1) Come back to the phone, which was lying on the table, to find that it was restarted. Happened 3 times in 5 minutes.
2) Another time, the phone restarted for no reason - I came back and it was asking for pattern instead of fingerprint because it restarted.
3) In a 20 minute drive, the phone restarted twice, which was announced by the Bluetooth car unit. I stopped each time and verified that the phone actually restarted.
At first, I thought it was me holding the power button wrong and it getting stuck.
But I have tried my best to not push the power button in any weird way, and then it still happened.
Moreover, here's an interesting exchange between, apparently, ZTE and users. Credit to oberio28:

Just updated from 1.11 to 1.15 NA. Going to see if that fixes reboots.
Also, why the hell doesn't the phone remember the Bluetooth volume level? Is that a Pie thing?

Since updating to 1.15, the phone is not random restarting.

Yes, the V115 patch the random restart bug, the bug is common on SDM8150 platform

"I use ATT as as carrier, and I tried several of their sim cards. As soon as I install the card, that Sim slot (1 or 2) truncates its IMEI from 15 to 14 digits, so it thinks that's it's a CDMA sim card. I think this is the reason why I cannot access GSM calling settings such as Call Forwarding. It says "Network or Sim card error."

I use ATT prepaid mine does the same but the last digit is a check, meaning once sim is activated it helps hide your full IMEI. I get 4g LTE and no Voice HD calling, hence it always reverts to 4g/3g in calls. Got to love US carriers.

Thanks. It was explained to me at an ATT store that Voice over LTE was not available for a prepaid plan.
However, can you change Call Forwarding settings (I cannot, and I am not sure what the problem is):
Phone app / ... / Settings / Calling accounts / AT&T / GSM call settings / Call forwarding / Voice
?
Mine gives me reply "Call settings error , Network or SIM card error."

Yeah I get the same error, I don't think it's phone though. My other phone is Poco F1 and its all custom ROM with no LTE bands and it does the same. But both can transmit/receive calls with same sim though...I think its more the network and not being AT&T branded phone.

Thanks. Here's more info that may be relevant.
1) Oneplus 6, global version, doesn't have this problem, that is not being able to set up call forwarding from the phone.
2) Whenever AT&T sim card is inserted into a slot (1 or 2), that slot truncates its IMEI from 15 to 14 digits by removing the last digit.
So, if without the sim card IMEI 1 is XXX...XXX5, it becomes XXX...XXX when the sim card is inserted into slot 1. Same happens to IMEI 2 if the card is inserted into slot 2.

If so, can you give us some info please on what they are working on, if and how we can report bugs or suggestions etc.

Thanks for trying to help fellow Nubians BTW, the XDA review of RM3 was disastrous, IMO. So unfair. Whoever did that review needs to go back to basic training.
